Not sure what this cute little critter is? Then let us introduce you to the pangolin. They've been around for about 80 million years and they're the only mammals in the world that are covered in scales. Their tongue can be longer than their bodies and they can also let off a foul-smelling odor like skunks when in danger. The word 'pangolin' comes from the Malay word 'pengguling', which means "rolling up". This is a reference to the pangolin's habit of rolling into a ball like a pill bug whenever they feel threatened.
Unfortunately this makes them easy to capture, and it's estimated that 100,000 pangolins are caught and sold every year. Most of them get shipped to China and Vietnam where their meat and scales are sold for food and medicine. Because of this, all eight species of pangolin are now on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of animals threatened with extinction. You can learn more about them here.

Sickened that this lovely creature is yet another one threatened by the voracious appetite of the Chinese for exotic food and rubbish medicines. They won't stop until the last tiger, elephant, rhino and pangolin is extinct
I spent over an hour trying to figure out which animal I wanted to adopt via WWF. I chose the Pangolin, and I'm happy that I did. I don't understand how heartless individuals could poach such not only one of the coolest looking mammals I've ever seen, but one of the most earth friendly mammals in existence. Shame on you poachers. Every single one of you deserve to spend the rest of your heartless lives in a jail cell.
I agree with Raven. It makes me so angry! I wish I had the power to stop their destruction, but all I can do is give money to charities who claim to help and hope that they do.
I bet you are a female wishing your husband had one that long.

Can you imagine giving birth to one of these....especially it was a breech baby?? OUCH!!
And suddenly I would be absolutely okay to talk about JC all day long even though I'm an atheist.
Load More Replies...It is a mammal version of what I grew up as a child calling a "Rollie Pollie."
Food dreaming maybe. "Mh, a nice dish of ants... nom nom"

Brave and committed caretaker to give this awesome animal cuddles.
Brave? I think Pangolin attacks are WAAAAAAY down this year! LOL!
Load More Replies...To be honest, I don't remember posting that comment. I would like to delete it......these baby Pangolins are adorable.
They are such odd creatures.......anteater tongue, possum shape head, human like ears, sloth claws, dragon scales, alligator tail, and yet they can still curl up like a potato bug. Mother Nature and her sense of humor-good one!
I hope this post does not encourage people to take these animals as pets (major problem in America) as they are dwindeling in the wild due to the pet trade & high demand for these beautiful animals <3
They're neat to look at, but they make terrible pets. They spray like skunks, dig like rabid terriers, and care not one iota for your sleep schedule.
Load More Replies...I will adopt as many as I can and regrow the population myself if I have to! They are so fricken adorable!!!
