In case you didn't know, 26 January is the national day of Australia. And what could be a more beautiful way to celebrate the occasion than by honoring all the little things that make this country the beautiful, interesting and absolutely bizarre place that it is. Are there hummingbirds in Australia? The answer is no. So this is some artifact from perhaps an older time when there were? I don't know. I am loving how the plant evolved to make it look "too busy with feeders" so other birds (hummingbirds?) would stay away. Fascinating!

Unlikely, especially since those plant is only found on the northern part of Australia. I live in the south so I have never actually seen one in real life.

It's funny as an Australian seeing all these non-Australians freak out over all this stuff. For real, the chances of seeing the actual dangerous animals is pretty slim, I live on a property in rural Queensland and I rarely see any of the actual dangerous animals.

No snakes in Ireland and it's cold, if I move I'll gladly come to live there. I don't support the high heat in summer and don't want to a have a snake in my toilet.

I actually wanted to visit Australia. but now I have seen those photos that Australia I actually don't want to visit anymore. from snakes, hot weather, many bugs and even those green things. look. I will stay in Athens! I have made my decision

To be hones, the show Border Patrol is a much bigger deterrent than the bugs / other scary wildlife. The show makes it seem as if they think that there are 100% good guys in A and 100% bad guys everywhere else, (You took LSD once fifteen years ago? We might want to hold you back for half a day to discuss if we risk the downfall of our nation by letting you stay for your holiday), I quite like snakes, so I would need somebody to follow me and say "NO, do NOT try to pet it idiot, it might kill you"
