The challenge can be the final motivation to make someone do what they have been wanting for years. If it encourages people to open up it’s a good thing.

Why would you assume they did it to fulfill a Twitter task? I think most if not all did it because they genuinely liked the person but were too scared to ask them out, and the Twitter challenge just inspired them to take the risk. Peer pressure can inspire positive actions not just negative ones. 🙂

As long as they're not playing, whatever reason they find courage to ask is fine. It's a great compliment to hear someone has a big crush on you. only it would suck if you didn't "like" them back. How do you say "go back to the friend zone?" without crushing them?

The words "crush" and "date" - would put me right off. Something like - Hey - Am not doing anything Valentines night - if you aren't either, how do you fancy meeting up for a couple of drinks so we can both cheer ourselves up?" Kind of sounds more casual.

Thats what I thought - asking someone if they fancied catching up for a couple of drinks on any random day is one thing, but to be your "Date" - on Valentines day, the most romantic day of the year.Way too much. If I liked the person I would make an excuse and suggest meeting up on another day.

The best things happen when people realise they really like someone. Inviting a person who you suspect didnt even really know you on an official "Valentines date"?? No way. can just see so many opportunities for someone to accept - and the original inviter was just having a laugh

How else should you ask for a date? Stalking peoples workplaces or homes and show up there? Or ask with other people around to let peer pressure work for you? And don't forget people who are just shy and want to save face. But I guess they are just unromantic and lame.

A text is fine - if it is just an invite out for a couple of drinks - but just the very words "CRUSH "DATE" and "VALENTINE" in the same sentence is is pretty off-putting. do they think you are the love of their life - or is it a potential stalker, - or an internet prank - You decide
