Trans People Are Sharing These 40 Memes To Talk About The Struggles They Run Into

Hail Human Mountain Friend
I love that people around were sticking up for her, I don’t love that it comes down to threats of violence to get someone to behave themselves - that’s lowest common denominator stuff.
Because sometimes you DO have to sink to their level to make a point they'll understand, sadly.
Load More Replies...Further proof that transphobia is not confined to a particular stereotype. Sometimes I wonder if the real issue with many transphobes is nothing more than base jealousy that we're willing to be ourselves and they're not brave enough to do the same...
Do You Seriously Think I’m Just Gonna Leech The Nutrition From Your Body Until You Die? How Did You Know?
Everyone understands that there already are male and female soldiers right? So why would you not trust the person next to you regardless of appearance. Same training, same deadly bullets in their gun.
I absolutely don't trust someone whose trust can by swayed by their fellow servicemember's gender identity. Here's looking at you, grayed out name.
Pro or anti-trans, someone fighting by your side is someone fighting by your side, as long as they can do their job, who cares.
When there are bombs dropping all around you and your major concern is your fellow soldier's genitals, you might be in the wrong profession.
bro who cares what gender they might be they're on your frickin side and not dropping bombs on u
As an ex-Navy dude I seriously don't need to know about anyone's d**k ever.
Ever since its creation in 2012, r/traa has become a true powerhouse with more than 297K members posting memes that have something to do with being trans, or about the trans community. The subreddit asks its subscribers not to be too political and simply have fun. Many people share posts about the struggles they run into every single day, from transphobia to transitioning and many more.
Still, their take on tackling such serious issues is to disguise it with humor. This isn’t the place to argue but rather to embrace the weirdness, absurdity, and hilariousness of random situations that trans people find themselves in.
Being one of the most popular online trans-oriented pages, the subreddit is also dedicated to building a supportive and meaningful community, not only serving memes. One of the moderators told Mashable: "When I started, it was a lot more edgy memes. Now it's more like a place where people can leave events, support others, and comfort others while seeking humor."
Trans Dad Jokes Are The Best
He has probably waited for this moment for months with this joke sitting in the back of his brain ;)
I want this to be the reply from my dad (or anyone) after I (hopefully) get top surgery.
The best part is this is definitely something my ZaXe would do XD (ZaXe: the most common gender neutral terms for parents)
Troll X Chromosomes
A rapist is not going to be stopped by a women's only bathroom sign. If he was worried about doing something illegal, he wouldn't rape someone in the first place
Let's be real here: the big cause of sexual assaults in bathrooms, is cis-male rapists in bathrooms. Trans-women just want to use the loo in peace.
Some men in bars prey on vulnerable drunk women and assault them. I have yet to hear anyone call for banning men from bars.
That is ignoring the very frightening statistic that says that 1 in 16 (although other studies put that number 1 in 7) men rape, and 1 in 3(!) men say they would rape if they knew for certain that they would get away with it (source: https://wearawhitefeather.wordpress.com/survivors/rape-culture-statistics/) Following republican logic, it seems about time to ban men from public. Of course they won't, because their objective is not to keep women safe, it's to oppress non cisgender people.
Load More Replies...And note, the claim isn't "Trans people are assaulting people" the claim is "Men will pretend to be transwomen in order to assault people" - I.e., the supposed problem is *MEN WHO ARE ASSAILANTS* and the "solution" (as usual) targets someone/anyone/everyone else.
Further note that assaults are happening anyway regardless of bathroom rules.....it's not like a rapist is going to be stopped by a sign.
Load More Replies...I have never thought of trans people as anything other than just people. And if I see a person dressed like a "s**t" I don't feel a need to rape them. But all these people that connect those dots must be supressing some serious inner demons that are just fighting to come out of them. And a lot of those people are our "leaders".
Yeah, I mean... I'm a heterosexual woman and I've seen plenty of good looking shirtless guys on the streets, never occurred to me that they'd ask to be harassed. Boundaries, mate. Boundaries. I was always taught to never lay my hands on anything that doesn't belong to me without permission, and I know that men aren't stupid by default, thankfully, so one's chromosomes are no excuse. So, indeed, as you say, it's these people "connecting the dots" that are the suspicious ones. Sure, one can want to simply protect, but you can see the difference in attitudes.
Load More Replies...Every encounter I've had with trans-women in or near bathrooms has been pleasant...the one that sticks out in my mind was being in line for the bathroom with two trans-females in front of me...when they noticed I was behind them they both let me go ahead of them. One even asked me if I wanted her to wait outside while I went as she only wanted to freshen up her make up in the mirror. I told her I had no problem with her being in there! That she had every right to be there as much as I did. I've never had anyone smile so brightly at me as she did after I said that : )
some blatant lies here. No trans perps sex assaults in bathrooms - might want to talk some high schools and prisons.
This pisses me off! It's not Republicans or Democrats making these statements. It's stupid f***ing a$$holes who don't know s**t! Believe me, comments like this and all the replies saying it's true... You're only hurting people who have lived through it. Myself included
It's TERFs making the trans statements mostly, from what I've seen. That's the whole reason they exclude trans women from their "feminism"

Well, those all are definitely words. How you think any of it is a relevant response to "There are people born with Y chromosomes who are female," I'm not sure.
Load More Replies..."We didn't realize the user base had changed so much. It was just a couple thousand people just making crass jokes." But really, it had become something more than that.
Over the past few years, the page has seen an enormous increase in subscribers. "I think a lot of it has to do with increasing acceptability," the mod said. "Of course during [Trump’s] presidential administration we've regressed a lot in terms of human rights. But in terms of social consciousness, people are more aware of what being trans is."
They added: "People want to know what options there are for people who experience gender dysphoria or who are not their assigned gender at birth. It's really hard to be able to explore those things alone."
This Man Has The Full Respect Of My Heart And Soul
So true! Like, how many children did Loki give birth to? Including a friggin six-legged horse XD Edit: correction, eight-legged. Sorry it's been a minute XD
I have no issue at all with gender fluidity, but I do believe the number of legs on a horse should be non-variable.
Load More Replies...I love this man so much ❤ The way he effortlessly inserts LGBT+ characters into his stories is just beautiful and the representation makes my heart so happy. And of course as he points out, it's mythologically authentic.

"So What's In Your Pa-" 401 Unauthorized. Content Forbidden
The day one of my non-binary friends wasn't at school, a classmate said "Non-binary isn't a gender" (another classmate said another thing but that's a different story). The whole class and teacher were like "Hol Up". I got permission from the non-binary friend that stayed home (I texted throughout the day to keep them caught up on Homework) to peacefully break the classmates legs.
I'm stealing this idea and making a shirt right now. Would you like one?
Load More Replies...I NEED THAT!!! I’m non-binary and I have access to a Cricket, a sewing machine, and material… hmmmm
I searched for ideas for shirts and I'm going to be making this one. It's so good, it can't NOT be shared
Didn't Really Know Where To Post This
Here in the UK it isn't illegal for a person to go topless (or even fully nude) regardless of gender unless they seek to cause harm by doing so. I cannot comment on the laws of other nations, however, the World Naked Bike Ride is a good example of this mass - and socially acceptable - nudity.
Ah yes, one of the delightful double standards of patriarchy: you're only what makes it easiest for the patriarchy to control at any given moment.
There's a great reddit post from a woman who got so fed up with her neighbours constantly calling her a man, went on their morning jog without a top on. Yep, they called the cops on the topless woman in the neighbourhood. Fortunately her lawyer and the cops thought it was hilarious, and she was just asked not to do it again.
Oh sh** — this goes on the list of things I hadn’t considered, this is messed up.
this is precisely how jewish law describes intersex and islamic law describes transgender (both from the medieval ages and before)
"Trans women are only considered women when it justifies more harm..."? ???
Load More Replies...The moderator mentioned that they’ve noticed an increase of younger users who are feeling more open in their lives to come out. At least to come out online, and that's why a lot of trans people turn to the r/traa subreddit.
Such online communities are great for people who might not be ready to talk loudly about their struggles but need to vent and let those feelings out in some way. It allows people to know that there are others like them who are going through the same issues in their everyday lives. This creates a sense of belonging and reminds them that they have a place to turn to.
Best Take On Elliot Page And Future Season Of The Umbrella Academy Yet
All I care about is that he's still in the show and I get to watch a new season! 🤷
Actually, Vanya is now transmasc and goes by Viktor now :) finally some good trans rep
I like how people think it’ll somehow “ruin” the character — this is why it’s called acting, Elliot is going to be just as amazing as Vanya as he always has.
I was really afraid they were going to either replace him or cancel the show. So glad they kept him on.
I also love Elliot and TUA (because of MCR, duh)

There's some truth to that! I figured out my wife was trans years before she came out. And she subconsciously knew that I was trans for about as long.
Load More Replies...I believe some of us truly fall in love with souls not genders or labels...my husband could come home and tell me he's gay/bi/trans/going to turn himself purple I can honestly say I'd stay with him and love him no matter what...he's my best friend and the one person I can always count on...gender has absolutely nothing to do with that.

"Trans people are often some of the most marginalized people in society," the moderator explained. "So they develop thick skin, which translates into humor. Because a lot of trans people's experiences are pretty dark and pretty sad, there has got to be some way to keep the hope up [and this is one]."
Since the trans community has only grown more visible in recent years, it is critical to represent their thoughts and feelings. The content r/traa posts shows that it is a safe environment with a purpose. Even if that purpose is to share the most absurd and ridiculous memes out there, trans people have a chance to feel free and express their own voices.
A Nice Meme I Came Across
i like to tell men that they are gay if they continue flirting with me due to me being nonbinary. Watch them defend their ego.
Load More Replies...Ever notice that the most vocal transphobes are also almost all cishet white men? As soon as you imply that they might not perfectly fit that mold, they get really upset. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Yep. There are some tremendously transphobic boys/ men (and girls/ women) in the world. It seems like a lack of understanding coupled with fear. What bothers me about ANY of the phobic/anti persons, especially those who behave so abhorrently, is this: HOW is someone else's identity any of their business??! (It's NOT, so why can't they leave well enough alone?!)
Load More Replies...This once again brings the question to my mind. Where do non-binary people go to use the restroom if there’s only Male and Female restrooms
Speaking from personal experience, in order of preference: At home, gender neutral bathroom, single occupancy bathroom, hold it, bush, pants
Load More Replies...OMG!! Damien Delarge, if you see this, I kinda think you are secretly the blonde dude here. Call me Jupiter not saturn, idiot. Jupiter is A GOD!!!!
That's absolutely perfect and funny, and I'd say that if I were a tmasc (i'm a tfem)
Imagine being a woman and having to use the same restroom as Buck Angel....
So What Are The Odds This Would Work Today?
These days it would end up as some conspiracy theory about gender-changing chemicals in the water put their by the government.
Load More Replies...In the UK at least, it was perfectly legal and acceptable to change gender, going back about 100 years. It was just no big deal and people accepted that it happened, albeit very rarely as far as anyone knew. Get a load of this chappy! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Ewan_Forbes,_11th_Baronet
Would you say it was easier to get away with it becuase he was a baron with influence and money? After all, the same year that he officially changed his gender, Alan Turing was chemically castrated for being gay.
Load More Replies...well you see, i must have ingested some gender-altering chemicals in the bread i bought yesterday. oh well too late to change it. so sad.
My gender, it changed over night, what a shame haha no point in fighting it if its what nature wants haha

Being Yourself Is A Right And Not Something That Should Be Seen As An Agenda
Yes! I have a Trans son and although I mourn the loss of my daughter, I celebrate adding another son! My biggest fear is some close minded asshole deciding to confront him. Why? It's none of your business. You just want to start trouble.
I love seeing accepting parents on here, since my mom isn't that accepting. I'm sure your son loves you, and he's very lucky to have you!
Load More Replies...I hate hearing people claim that kids "can't know that young". Excuse me? I'm pretty sure cis kids know exactly which gender they associate themselves most comfortably with by the age of 8, so why do you not believe the same is true of trans kids?
The cis kids don't know exactly what their gender is, it is not a notion that we question. You just go along with the codes and roles which are imposed on you, codes which some of us later question. I never recall "feeling like a girl" but rather being confused as why girls where supposed to like some stuff and behave in a certain way. To be honest I don't fully understand how the process of "feeling like a girl / woman" initiates when you are a trans woman/girl, I'd be interested to know.
Load More Replies...It's not that more people/kids are "becoming" trans. It's that more are understanding what they're feeling and comfortable enough to express themselves instead of repressing who they are.
Then there me wishing my dad was not so transphobic so I could actually come out as trans

Load More Replies...It's even more delightfully frustrating for those of us who are intersex and were forced into a gender we don't identify as. We're already not fully one or the other physically and/or genetically, it's pretty freaking insulting to declare that we can't possibly be the opposite gender of the one we were made to adopt...

Load More Replies...ok here's my thing here. I (who am genderfluid) am constantly confused by cis people who don't understand how that works. They will talk about a person who transitioned from m to f but say a trans man. And then others will sat trans woman. I understand the thing is education, but some people don't understand which is why people say f to m/m to f.

Unless you don't have a classroom because you're homeschooled so your parents can shove a bunch of conservative propaganda down your throat
As someone who was homeschooled, that stereotype is really annoying. Sure that may be common, especially in the US, but that's not ALL homeschoolers.
Load More Replies...Literally every person who isn't both white and male has had to defend their human rights.
Yep. I've had to defend the rights to my own body endlessly as a woman can't imagine how it feels to fight as a trans person

Would you like an itemized list, or would a summary suffice? The short version: propaganda, toxic localized culture (family/church/neighborhood/etc.), personal repression, jealousy, irrational anger.
Load More Replies...So they're presuming a cis guy is a trans woman because of a pronoun pin?
Flip that - they're assuming that the pronouns mean they've changed them, therefore he's a transman rather than a cisman, and - because they're a twaffle - they're intentionally misgendering them in an attempt to insult their (non-existent) trans identity.
Load More Replies...If that transphobic person was a man I'd call him ma'am. If it was a woman - Id call her sir. See their reaction
They're always like "oh haha misgendering isn't that bad" then throw big hissyfits when you misgender them it's so funny
Load More Replies...I wear a pronoun pin [he/they] and another trans coworker of mine (who is a lot farther in his transition than me) is one of my good friends so i got him one as well [he/him] (happy to say he wears it every day :] ) and when I bag for him on his register I still get people saying "have a nice night ladies." like ????
At this point I just raise an eyebrow when someone misgenders me and assume that they need to get their eyes checked. They are the exception nowadays, thank goodness.
Load More Replies...Latin prefix that's the counterpart of trans. Trans- means "on the other side of" and "Cis-" means "on this side of" - in this case, the gender assigned at birth. For historical examples, the different parts of the Roman province of Gaul were respectively "Cisalpine Gaul" and "Transalpine Gaul" - literally, Gaul this side of the Alps and Gaul across the Alps.
Load More Replies...Oh, you need a pin? How about telling someone your story. Don't expect the word to bow to you.
Trans Rights Are Human Rights
One time a guy told me that most people regret it, and I've never stopped wondering where the Hell he read that
I have never once met anyone who has regretted transitioning. Amongst circle of trans friends (around a half dozen or so of us), 100% of us are glad to have done so and are genuinely happier for having done so.
Load More Replies...I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted. If you're trans, your identity is still valid if you don't transition. And you're right. A lot of trans folks don't medically transition. It's expensive, painful, scary, etc. That doesn't make them any less trans.
Load More Replies...I just sent this to my mom before I remembered she thinks she's in a healthy marriage
Or maybe we could just mind our own business about how others live their lives and recognize that we are all human.
Go to https://www.fatherly.com/love-money/what-is-divorce-rate-america/amp/ for a discussion of the divorce rate in the USA. It's actually lower than people think. Still, how one calculates makes all the difference.
That's exactly what I thought. It has also been affected by the percentage of people choosing not to marry at all.
Load More Replies...A lot of people who regret transitioning are the ones who think they didn't need gender dysphoria to be trans or they just got their identity wrong (often people fit both of these categories)
50% divorce rate seems awfully close to normal, background divorce rate?
50% divorce rate is actually a popular myth. It does depend on your country but most are much lower.

Load More Replies...People after woman gets married :hello mrs (insert new last name here) vs People after I tell them that I want to be called by my preferred name: BuT iVe AlWaYs KnOwN yOu As (dead name)
I knew a lady who never changed her name to her husband's and never used his name once. People constantly addressed her as Mrs. [Husband's Name] and even addressed mail to her like that. It's ridiculous. Clearly people don't have trouble calling a person by a new name if it adheres to the rules of the patriarchy, even when they prefer not to be called it. But the moment a trans person wants to be referred to by a new name, it's too hard to remember, and people are suddenly too attached to the old name to let go, and it simply can't be done!
Load More Replies...i was told i'd always be [deadname] and id always be a girl. by the mom of a classmate who used to be a hero of mine. it stung pretty bad
Don't ever let the ignorance of others cloud your happiness. It is sad, but there are always those who will be unable to respect you. That's true no matter what, but the problem with transitioning is that you discover just how many only respected you before due to you fitting their very narrow window of "acceptable".
Load More Replies...omgosh... Mine were SO put out by my asking them to stop calling me by my childhood nickname. I cannot imagine what would be the response if I changed my name entirely. They wouldn't care if I were trans, but the name change would make them crazed.
Yes! My sister decided to stop going by her nickname after about 4 years and my parents still took ages to let it drop. They would have been able to accept the name change easier if she was trans though I think which is weird.
Load More Replies...There are people who refuse to call him Muhammad Ali. And yet it's actually expected for women to change their last names when they get married? If only there were some patriarchal reason why the only time choosing your identity is acceptable is when a woman takes her husband's name.
My mom said that names didn't really matter and don't mean anything and kept calling me my dead name. I said, "Ok Andi." Cause that's her first name. She looked super sad and I'm like, "Well, names aren't important right? They don't mean anything. I'll just stop calling you mom." Never deadnamed me again. Great training method 10/10 would recommend
When I mentioned I might be Trans to my mom, and stated some names, her reaction told me that she didn't really like them. Ohhh boy, wait til she hears the two I might go with (Wilbur and/or Thatch)
Did she accept that you were trans though and/or give you some names you might like to consider? I think as long as she accepts who you are and uses the correct name and pronouns it is okay if she doesn't personally like your choice of name.

Excellent! I imagine that the gynecologist's surgery is a minefield of potential misgendering and transphobia.
If someone's partner is a trans woman or non-binary person who was assigned male at birth, they might be sperm-producing but aren't men. It's more inclusive than saying "do you have sex with men?" because the answer to that question might be "no," even though the person has genitalia that produces sperm.

yeah, it's irreversible. yeah, thousands of young women are regretting mutilating their genitals and cutting of their breasts. yeah, you haven't heard of them. wonder why? well, trans activists are bullying them and silencing them and ignoring them. yeah, their stories go untold, and in the few instanced a detransitioner makes a public stand they're ridiculed and shamed. concerned? Modern day surgery is not mutilation, many cis women get breast implants and many cis men get reduction and you have no issue with that, so go talk to a therapist.

i do the same with dogs i say him and and cats her, but i also called my firebird her unless something broke then it was a "he" lol

I'm Only A Victim If We're Roleplaying
Infamous TERF J.K. Rowling believes transwomen are a threat to lesbians. We all know how much Rowling supports lesbians because in roughly 4,000 pages of Harry Potter, she included exactly 0.
She included 0 lesbians because that would have been against section 28 of the government act 1988 (repealed in 2003).
Load More Replies...a PSA to TERFS - trans women existing does NOT make other women "less female" and "attacked" in any way shape or form.
yeah, I agree. but men pretending to be women in order to rape and sexually assault them does. if a "trans woman" with a penis used the women's toilets or changing room, that makes me feel uncomfortable. but somehow seeing someone with a penis in a bathroom meant for women like me is "transphobic" and I'm meant to welcome men into my toilets with open arms.
Load More Replies...As a cis lesbian, If I am attracted to a women and she is attracted to me (ha if only) I would date her regardless of if she is trans it cis
if you're a woman who is attracted to both female-bodied and male-bodied people, then you're bi, regardless of how the people you're attracted to identify. I'm a lesbian too and I would not want to have sex with a dude with a penis, regardless of how he "identifies".

Saying transwomen are preying on anyone is wildly offensive because like, people are adults making their own decisions. If a lesbian doesn't want to be with a transwoman, she won't.
@TruthMonster despite popular opinion (in patriarchal culture) women are not obliged to date nor to have sex with whoever you decide. How abt mutual attraction? What a wild concept for you!
Hey better to be a transbian than a he/him lesbian Srsly tho. I acknowledge trans lesbians (MTF transwomen that like women) exist and they are valid. He/him lesbians aren't. It's just another form of misogyny disguised as wokeness
Pronouns don't equal gender though??? Girls and non-binary people can use he/him, words are all technically made up anyways. Really, gendered pronouns are kind of weird if you think about it.

You know what ciswomen can't do without a whole f*****g rigamarole? Get their tubes tied, get a hysterectomy, etc. - doctors constantly do s**t like seeking the husband's permission, denying the procedure for single women because "Your future husband might want kids" etc. It's almost as if society is designed to suppress women's autonomy over their own bodies - whether that body is cis or trans - *except* in the ways that are pleasing to men. Almost...
I'ma just pretend to be cis when I get top surgery, tell 'em my tits annoy me ;))
There's a man who got breast implants because of a bet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Zembic I doubt he needed any documentation. Body adjustment (Including any to remedy dysmorphia) should be the individual's choice.
18...try 16. There are plenty of affluent girls out there that get plastic surgery for their sweet 16 presents. How come it is required to get approval before going through HRT?
I don't know any tattoo artists that would tattoo an 18 year old on the face neck or hands, much less whole body.
How in the hell is tattooing anything like taking hormones? One slightly alters the appearance of your skin, the other can permanently f**k up your body.

She Won't Be Happy About This
She pretty much said biological sex exists and doesn't like dehumanizing language like "uterus bearer", "menstruator". This was enough to earn her the "terf" label.
Load More Replies...I mean in general you shouldn't be playing Harry Potter video games if you support trans people anyways because J.K. Rowling still owns Harry Potter and benefits from its popularity. If you buy it legally you're giving her more money, and pirating it is fine I guess but you're still engaging with it, exposing yourself to her stuff, and possibly becoming a TERF in the future if you're not careful. And speaking about it gives her more platform.
Harry Potter was one of my childhood faves, and still is, but I just can't engage with it in good conscience anymore (also I'm Asian so I take particular offense to Cho Chang's naming...plus Hermione wasn't naive or whatever for trying to free the house-elves, clearly DOBBY wanted to be free)

An Exact Conversation I Had With My Therapist
I'm a cis woman who has never liked girlie things. My version of womanhood is 100% valid. So if a trans woman feels the same way I do, then her womanhood is also 100% valid.
I'm with you. I hated Barbies and pink crap. I spent most of my childhood days stomping through the woods and the mud catching frogs, snakes and donning head to toe dirt. Frustrated my mom with how to get the grime out of my clothes. Finally decided to have me wear my brothers hand me downs as "play clothes" so I wouldn't mess up all my nice shirts and pants.

Load More Replies...OK, first, before people jump on me, I'm totally, 100 percent pro LGBTQ, I'm just a word nerd so ... it really bugs me that the word tomboy came into existence in the last few decades because it makes no grammatical sense. ORIGINALLY (and into the 1960s at least), the term was tomgirl. (Tom being a boy's name and also a word for certain male animals, e.g., tom turkey, tomcat.) Now, I'm not saying it was a nice or kind word -- it was, etymologically, calling girls who behaved like boys a "male girl". (But it was nicer or kinder, or at least more neutral than the male version: "boys who behaved like girls" (or in an effeminate way, or if they were gay) were called Nancyboys -- a girl's name paired with the actual gender of the person.) And, yeah, the "your" in the comic is bugging the heck out of me too!
Being a feminine trans guy is valid as well! My parents say I can't be a boy because I was always their little 'princess' and I'm like- yeah I wear dresses and skirts, I'm still a guy.
I want to be transmasc but I don't get Gender dysphoria from dresses or long hair. It makes me wonder if I really am trans.
Dresses and long hair don't have to interfere with masculine traits, they can coexist.

It's interesting how any post relating to J. K. Rowling brings out the downvotes for anyone speaking against her. It's almost like her devoted fanbase can't accept that she might not be a shining beacon like they've always believed. I have bad news for those of you who think like this: a LOT of authors have met that fate. Orson Scott Card was one for people around my age, and just like with Rowling, he had a swarm of defenders despite his awful homophobic comments and behavior. Just like with Rowling, his defenders were all too happy to downplay and spin-doctor his homophobia and make it sound like everyone else was the problem. And does anyone hear about Mr. Card nowadays? No, no they do not.
I totally agree, I love Harry Potter and I’m nonbinary. A lot of the time I doubt if I’m valid in being nonbinary because I like Harry Potter and if the LGBTQ+ community will hate me for liking the story. I don’t like J. K. Rowling. At all. I love the story she wrote Harry Potter
Load More Replies...I FINALLY decided to read the Harry Potter series and about a chapter into book three, she started with her transphobic TERF comments. I have never been able to continue. I since found out from a trans friend of mine that her descriptions of Rita Skeeter are very obviously her way of mocking trans women and I can't bring myself to read that either.
Rita Skeeter was a jab at the British Tabloids and American journalist Kitty Kelley. It has nothing to do with Trans people. While I could never condone some of her comments, I stand by my support of the 'wizarding world' she created. Sometime the artist is a piece of s**t, but the art can still be appreciated.

Trang Be Like:
I've heard it compared to chronic pain. "Not in pain" doesn't get noticed as something affecting your daily life. But if you have chronic pain, every thing is affected by it, all the time. Things that seem unimportant/unnoticable to someone 'not in pain' like stepping up a curb, or bumping into someone, can be agonising. Moments/situations where the pain is reduced are important. The "Chronic Pain" experienced by trans people is emotional or mental rather than physical. A trans person can get "bumped into" with a micro aggression, deliberate or accidental, and experience pain from something a cis person is blind to.
Detransitioners In A Nutshell
Detransitioners are rare. Think of it like people who have a bad reaction to a COVID vaccine. That DOES happen. But if you're going to base your entire science on those rare extreme cases, you're missing the broader point entirely.
People who have undergone the transition process and then decide to transition back. While anti-trans folks make a huge deal out of it, less than 1% of people who transition do so and about half of those that do say they did not because they regretted their transition, but because of social pressures (there's an entry above that mentions it).
Load More Replies...Yes but the entire point is that anti-trans folks like to spew that topic as though it happens all the time. When less than 1% of people actually detransition. And its been proven that they only do it because of social pressures. So the extremely VAST majority of trans people are beyond happy that they have transitioned.
Load More Replies...it's the absolute opposite. I usually remain pretty calm (if a little sarcastic) but this just makes my blood boil. detransitioners are silenced, scorned, and hated. there are thousands of detransitioners out there, most too terrified to tell their stories, and those that do are ostracized and despised by the "trans community". whilst almost everyone nowadays has to push trans rights and laugh and clap when a twelve year old takes puberty-stopping drugs because it's the "right" thing to do. detransitioners, on the other hand, and immediately held in contempt. silenced. ignored. overlooked. this is blatant misinformation and I can't believe people are promoting this.
It's Really Not Actually Helpful
You can be both valid and depressed at the same time though....I'd imagine most people want to look like the gender they feel like.
It's nice when things align like that! Honestly I care more about people not making a big deal about me being myself. I don't care what they think I look like so long as they don't go out of their way to offend me about being transgender.
Load More Replies...I'm a little low on topic specific vocabulary here. What does pass mean in this context?
In this context it means to fit the social expectations of appearances. So a transgender man who "passes" does not have a visible bust or a "feminine" voice, and a transgender woman who "passes" does not have a flat chest, facial hair, or a "masculine" voice. It's quite silly, to be honest.

Um, I feel like this is mocking gender dysphoria. Am I missing something?
I think this might actually be a science meme, since certain species of fish (and gastropods) are capable of sequential hermaphroditism, where they can change genders (usually only once) as part of their life cycle. When this fish became human, it lost the ability to naturally change sexes.

You are far from alone. If you find yourself questioning your gender, even slightly, it's worth it to take a deeper look. You might be trans. You might be agender. You might be genderfluid. What? How the heck would not having gender built into your language make you LESS open to gender fluidity? It automatically allows you to think in less gendered terms overall, so that is actually one positive we have going for us. America's problem with gender fluidity does not come from the language, it comes from our Puritan Christan values, which permeate almost all parts of our society.
