When I think of crafts, I picture these weird-looking items floating on Etsy like eternal shipwrecks that rise to the surface every time you genuinely need something. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with pursuing your hobby, but it’s a whole different story if you’re trying to make money out of something you wouldn’t buy yourself. Hence, there’s an entire craft-shaming movement that humorously mocks such instances.

But there’s a whole different side to craftsmanship and here we are talking the perfect fusion of idea, execution, skill, and patience. Mix them together and you see pieces of handmade art that put the mass production industry to shame.

And thanks to the subreddit r/Crafts, we have the most eye-watering collection of crafty objects that prove there’s no limit to human imagination. With a whopping 1.6m contributing to this online community, it’s easy to fall in love with crafts even if you weren’t a big fan of them in the first place.

I love stained glass. I always loved the church we used to go to had a large wall of stained glass, and it was so detailed it was amazing. The sun would always come through it in the morning and the reflections were awesome

Not only are crafts beneficial to dementia patients, many experts say they’re essential to their health and well-being. The best crafts for dementia patients are those that offer physical, emotional, and cognitive stimulation. The craft also needs to meet the level of challenge that is right for the person. Some of the easiest crafts are drawing and painting. People at various stages of dementia and with various skill levels can all benefit from these activities.

i something similar with slips and glazes for my pottery. my parent's house was settled on dirt with a high iron oxide content. for my mom's birthday, i threw a canister set for her and made a glaze with the dirt. it turnout out as an oatmeal coloured base with flecks of red and blood-brown. she loved it and dad was amused because he thought the onyl thing that came out of the garden was veggies.

Someone I know moved to a place in the country when she retired, found coarse "wild clay" on her land, and started using it for pottery. She's been so successful that she now gets so many commissions she can hardly make enough pots for craft shows!

Make this a business, and go the original Paddington bear route and make his clothing something that can be changed and other outfits purchased. This is something magnificent that could be really ongoing as a career, you are an artist :)

Kitties (live ones? Are my obsession! This is so wonderful!!! It makes me happy just looking at it. My husband and I take "feral" cats in (the furbabies that would otherwise be euthanized) and socialize them. It takes lots of patience, many hours of unconditional love but it CAN be done. This reminds me that all of those hours are the product of a beautiful, socialized furbababy.

That's how the Greek orthodox do it also. Out of curiosity do you crack the eggs a specific way like the Greek Orthodox do? You hit your egg on someone else's and the person's which is uncracked goes to the next person and so on and so forth. And the person with the uncracked egg at the end shall have good luck for the rest of the year.

The success-rate isn't terribly high (for me, anyway), but if you dye raw eggs (as opposed to hard-boiled ones) you can poke a tiny hole in either end of the shell and "blow" the contents out through the other hole.

You pick some plants, put the eggs with plants pressed on them inside lycra stockings and then cook them in water with onion peels. And no, it doesn't affect the flavour ;)

OMG. So... Tragic childhood story. I was about nine, and went to a week-long pottery camp during the summer. I made the usual mug/ashtray/whatever. But with the scraps, I made a tiny dino and and a tiny turtle. The dino's paint did this funky bubble thing, which was a mistake, but looked fabulous! At the end of camp, we had a show, where everyone had their parents come and ooooh and aaaah. My dino and turtle were a big hit. People loved them. I was proud. After the show, everyone picked up their creations to bring home. Someone stole my dino and turtle. It's been 40 years. I'm still bitter. My dino looked kind of like this one. I hope that kid enjoyed their stolen artwork :(

You are right to be nervous - beach stones are not meant to be taken for environmental reasons. I know people might think 'it's just one or two' but if enough people do it then it could have repercussions. Local authorities in the UK take it very seriously - think it might be a £1,000 fine.
