Woman Refuses To Sit Next To A Crying Baby On Plane, Gets Instant Karma
435Kviews
Karma is a fickle lady and sometimes she strikes almost instantly. This is what US government employee Susan Peirez had to learn the hard way when she was put on work leave recently for berating a Delta flight attendant.
The incident was caught on camera by Marissa Rundell, a 19-year-old mother from Rochester New York and the other victim of Peirez’s rant. On a flight from JFK Airport to Hancock Airport, the former program director for the former NY State Council on the Arts began to complain loudly about Rundell’s crying son. “She came to the back and slammed her bags down. She said ‘this is f—– ridiculous. It’s bulls— having to sit in the back of the plane,'” Rundell told the Daily Mail. The young mom asked that Peirez not continue to cuss around her son and was allegedly met with the response, “shut the f— up and shove it.” Rundell then proceeded to film the encounter on her phone.
When a flight attendant, self- identified as Tabitha, tried to get involved, the government worker redirected her anger towards her. “You may not have a job tomorrow,” Peirez snapped at the flight attendant in the footage. Additional staff was then called to escort her off the plane.
After the footage went viral, with close to 2 million views on Facebook, Peirez was put on work leave with an official statement released by the Director of Public Information Ronni Reich, “State employees are and must be held to the highest standard both professionally and personally. We were notified of this situation and have commenced an investigation. This employee has been removed from the office and placed on leave until further notice and until the inquiry is resolved.”
As for Rundell, she told CBS News she doesn’t regret her decision to share the video, but that she does regret that it has affected Peirez’s job.

The woman demanded being seated elsewhere, while shouting at Rundell and her son because the baby wouldn’t stop crying
And then another woman filmed the whole thing
The video later went viral, with more than 2 million people sharing it on Facebook
The woman which was escorted off the plane for her behavior was later identified as government worker Susan Peirez
She has since been put on work leave

People in the comments had mixed responses but agreed her behavior was inexcusable

Babies are extremely annoying on flights, I know because I have one, she's almost 3 now and still a challenge to fly with although mostly well behaved. It can't be helped though. I do sometimes find myself apologizing to the people around me in advance, just in case of any noise or unruly behavior. Most are understanding, some are dicks about it. One thing that is worse, parents with older children, the age of my daughter and upwards, who allow kids to kick the seat in front and generally cause nuisance.
You do this because you're a decent person, and a good parent. I've been on flights where the parents ignored their crying baby, once so much the stewardesses became involved. The woman in the article should have booked business class, where there are no babies.
Ignore the crying baby? On one flight we had two small children screaming at the top of their lungs and running up and down the aisle while their parents sat in first class sipping champagne... When I complained to the flight attendant about it, she said she tried to get them to have the kids settle down but they insist they aren't hurting anyone. I told her to let the parents know that the kids ran into me as I exited the lavatory and if they don't want to have to be dragged into court for injury litigations..they will keep their kids contained because I have a lawyer that's itching to sue somebody. She relayed the message and we didn't see the kids for the rest of the flight. See..you can keep control of your kids with the right motivation....
Zori the degu and Lizard Queen...as a government employee, she's not allowed to book anything but an economy ticket on a government funded credit card. She can't be upgraded to business as per the rules of government travel. She's not high ranking enough to be able to do that. It also may be the reason for her being suspended and or fired. If she was demanding an upgrade because of the kid and her superiors saw that, she could lose her job over it.
Umm, yeah, about babies in business class. I flew in business class last month and sat next to a woman with a baby.
It's not that easy, business class is extremely expensive. I can't afford that. And I find it tormenting to sit next to a crying baby too. Of course, the woman isn't handling the situation in a nice way. But maybe she just had a very shitty day. Better not to judge too quickly.
I flew first/business class last weekend and was treated to a screaming/kicking baby behind me for my trouble. Lol, if crying babies are your only reason for the upgrade, save the $$.
No babies on business class?! I'd always travel like that if I get a chance!
BIG difference between idiots who let their young children run all over the plane and a baby this young that was likely experiencing inner ear issues. What really helps in my opinion is offering to hold the baby for the mom.It takes the baby's mind off whatever might be bothering it while they "explore" a new person and it gives mom a few moments of rest.Worst case scenario..headphones...GOOD ones....I never travel without them.Considering all the really HORRIBLE children I've had to endure flying with...a crying baby ranks pretty low and is easy to endure.I do wish stewardesses would get their heads out of the sand and immediately put a stop to parents who allow their monsters to kick ANYONE'S seat or run about on a plane. It shouldn't require a passenger making a request to have it stopped.
At least you're considerate of others around you. My issue is with the parents who just let their children cry and scream and do NOTHING. That irks me more than the crying child honestly.
The seat kicking is the worst for me. I have a bad back & will be in pain the whole time anyway, the last thing I need is a kid kicking the back of my seat & making it worse.
I resort to going to their pediatrician and asking for sleeping aids. Thank goodness they work on my kids. A stewardess even thanked me for having ‘well-behaved’ kids not knowing they are just loopy with the meds and the long flight. This may be a big no-no to some parents but honestly if my co-passengers think they are stressed in seeing babies and kids in a flight, it is more stressful for me as the parent because packing their stuff alone and hauling them with us drives me nuts already and thinking about making them busy the whole flight and not bothering others triggers anxiety attack. So I go the easy way- medicate them.
Medicate them? Not a good idea for everybody. Some folks are prone to abusing their tots when they're not neglecting them...
Yes!!!!! Kicking is so annoying. I understand crying but letting your kid kick the chair in front of you and NOT say anything to stop the behavior is rude. My mom and I were on a 3 hr flight with two kids kicking each of our chairs while we were trying to sleep. I wanted to say something but didn't think the appropriate words would come out.
I've been in flights were adults behind me were kicking my seat! Age wasn't the issue!
I must add the it was "knee-kicking"!
Oh good grief, yes! I was kicked in the back by a baby all the way across the Pacific Ocean, an 11-hour flight. The parents spoke no language in common with anyone on the plane, so even after my seatmate and I and the flight attendants pantomimed the kid stopping, the parents just kept smiling and nodding. And the kid kicked. And kicked. And kicked. And kicked. But it was a trans-oceanic flight, so they couldn't be removed. We just had to shut up and bear it. I traveled with my kids when they were little. Sometimes they would cry, but most seatmates were understanding about it. I certainly never had anybody yell and curse at me for having a child act perfectly normally! I've also been on flights with babies that never stopped crying, even though every person around took a turn walking the baby and trying to cheer it up. Babies cry. That's life.
Yeah, I don't get the parents who watch their toddler kick the seat in front of them and don't do anything. It makes you wonder if they allow their kid to hit others at home. I had an aunt who had 4 boys and longed for a girl. Baby #5 was a girl and my aunt was thrilled and grateful for her. Problem was my aunt never disciplined her and eventually as a toddler, my baby cousin was biting, kicking and smacking others across their faces.
I know that got off subject but if your toddler is kicking the seat in front of them, then what else do you allow them to do to others?
it seems like she made more noise than the baby.
I don't actually hear any noise from the baby in the video.
Actually, she WAS the baby
You want a baby stop crying? Shouting won't work.
No, but pinching off its windpipe will!
Then how 'bout shooting :)))

A pacifier or Duct Tape. Both if needed.
