The Opposite Of Design Fails: 50 Of The Most Brilliant Design Ideas That People Have Ever Shared In This Online Group (New Pics)
Over the years, we at Bored Panda have released quite a few pieces on subpar design. And while these publications are incredibly fun to prepare and scroll through (just take a look at this one), we need to balance them out a little. After all, not every designer is an incompetent 3-year-old. Some of them are 4... light-years ahead of the competition.
There's a subreddit that features high-quality images of interesting designs, including architectural, graphic, industrial, furniture, and product design, and even though we already covered it once, there are so many gems on it, we need to do a follow-up. From a restaurant half-sunken into the sea to a suitcase that can measure its own weight, continue scrolling and check out the best that human ingenuity has to offer.

We, regular users, usually see just the finished product. But there's so much more that goes into actually creating them. To learn more about design, we contacted Nicole Phillips, who has been working in the design industry since 2005 and has a background in fine arts and advertising. Phillips specializes in logo design, branding, and package design for food & beverage, beauty, health, and interior design clients, and for each project, her work is unique and never linear.
"The design process requires research, experimentation, and even a bit of psychology," Phillips told Bored Panda. "When I feel frustrated with the process, I remind myself to take a step back, have fun and play. It's those moments of play and experimentation that usually create the best results, but it's those hours of research that help build the foundation for the final result."
"My clients are not paying me for my time, they are paying me for my many years of experience, so if I am able to complete the design process in 5 hours rather than 5 weeks, this is a sign of my years of experience and knowledge, this is valuable," she added.

Apartment Building In Turin Holds 150 Trees
I think adding green to buildings is a great idea but how much weight do trees and the soil they grow it add to the building and do they eventually outgrow their space?
The root systems would eventually break apart the concrete.. walls..foundation. if you didn't switch out the developing trees for younger, smaller ones, they would take over the building! I'm not sure how sustainable that is. But so charming and pretty!

They’re an absolute nightmare for the elderly among us!
Load More Replies...This reminds me of the Hundertwasser Haus in Darmstadt, Germany, where I lived for a few years. I tried to look up whether or not Hundertwasser (an Austrian artist/architect who died in... 2002, I think) ever had a project built in Torino, but I didn't find one. It sure seems like the architect of this project must have at least been familiar with/inspired by Hundertwasser's work, though.
Correction, sorry, Hundertwasserhaus is in Vienna. The apartment building I used to pass by in Darmstadt is called the Waldspirale (Forest Spiral). It's been almost 20 years since I lived in Darmstadt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waldspirale

I want to move into but he gets me and encanto so as soon as I move in I'm going to sing we don't talk about Bruno
I love this concept, but....are the in pots and easily removable? Otherwise the continued growth of the tree and roots will eventually tear the buidling apart.
Perfect and exemplary! I would love to live in such a building or city wit houses like this!
I'd be happy to live there ❤️ i used to see places like this in my dreams (only it was more in a futuristic setting.
If only everyone could live in a house like this, climate change would be solved.
this is beautiful but I can't help but wonder if the apartment gets a lot of bugs
Reminds me a bit of the new headquarters Amazon is building in Virginia. It has a hiking trail with all kinds of trees and plants that spirals upward around the outside of the building. General public will be able to use it on weekends
Pros: shade, birds, uniqueness. Cons: 1970's Fern Bar aesthetic. Makes me want to order a Bloody Mary and cheese omelette.
This is really pretty but I'm just thinking about how many spiders would be in there, because I used to live in two different houses which had lots of trees right outside and the amount of spiders in there was insane, so I couldn't imagine how many would be in these apartments.
I'd like to see some pics of the inside to see if it's as nice on the inside.
I like this because of the multiple lofty levels of the living areas much better for people who enjoy being in fresh air and not crowded at all. Let me put this into proper metaphor perspective: the other night I was at The Columbus Symphony to hear a fantastic Dvorak cello concerto by Pablo Ferrandez (Spanish) in this time of Covid all of the musicians and entire audience had to wear a mask...as observing musicians and conductor being so closely crowded onto the stage I thought that it really wouldn't take much to allow the musicians space if they had designed different levels for the musicians to play (see above photograph for the divided lofty areas) in a similar set up 6 feet apart according to the CDC. Then the musicians don't have to wear their masks as breathing is so important when on a lighted stage, they have the space to play their instruments without constricting areas such as: percussion, horns, violins/need arm room to play, & etc. Pablo Ferrandez was very constricted.
And that's sure not to be full of bugs, lol.. There's a reason we 'ask' trees to move when making our homes.
I would absolutely love to live here, just one thing, is there a bug problem?
I'm a bit concerned about the total wight these trees will represent on those materials as they continue growing. Nice, though.
This could be such a nice way to build city buildings. It lends a feel of nature in the middle of the proverbial 'concrete jungle'.
I live on a big city that is nicknamed "The Forest City". Man I wish this housing were more affordable to everyone. Think of how much it would save the planet from deforestation!
All I can think of is the bugs and are the roots destroying the building. I live in the country surrounded by trees, they are as beautiful as they are pesky.
Hopefully Surfside has taught people NOT TO MIX FREAKING WATER WITH STRUCTURE
Look great no matter how wrong it is... That is not an real solution, it's just an ads. If you want a forest inside city build your house elsewhere and leave that land only for tree forever. Of course you can not...
this photo has been presented wrong side (mirrored) because of the British traffic system
I would imagine they would have to be replaced every once in awhile.
Can i sleep on in a cardboard in front of it? Because rhere are no apartments left!!!!
Wow... so the trees grow into and through the apartments? Do you tell your friends to hang on for a minute so I can water the tree
Lovely. Except - being practical - the trees' roots are going to destroy the building.
God, I would LOVE to live in a place like this! But I'll never be able to affors it. :'-(
Ads Against Littering In Toronto
Trying to determine whether or not a particular design is good, many turn to Dieter Rams and his '10 commandments.' According to Rams, good design is innovative, makes a product useful, is aesthetic, makes a product understandable, is unobtrusive, is honest, is long-lasting, is thorough down to the last detail, is environmentally friendly, and involves as little design as possible.
Nicole Phillips agrees with the German design legend.
"Good design includes a good balance of function, form, and fun," Phillips said. "The user shouldn't have to try too hard to get what they need from the design. Good design isn't just aesthetics, it should communicate well and push boundaries a bit. Good design solves problems."
To paraphrase Don Draper from Mad Men, it's simple but significant.

Theres a faucet at the Cheyenne mountain zoo hippo and penguin exhibit restrooms that are three in one, it's a horizontal faucet, one part dispenses water, the middle part dispenses soap, and the other is air dry
I saw quite a few 2 in 1 recently in the airport, shaped a bit like airplane: middle part provides water, and the side parts work as air dry. There is no rounded plane shapes, simply the style (middle tube, and two tubes to the side from the middle of water one)

Why is the political bias against Trump necessary? He made mistakes yes, but he is all and all a good man and a great president. Besides I see no reason to put politics into this usually amazing website.
I'm getting pretty tired of trolls posting their anti-Trump and anti-conservative crap. I never see anything pro-Trump or pro-conservative...is that by design, or do you simply have a large number of leftists who read your posts? Either be fair and let both sides post, or don't post anything from angry leftists. We're ALL allowed to have our own opinions, but it's infuriating to only see stupid posts and/or comments from leftists.
Really cool ideas If your reading this I hope you have a great day and know. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
Why did jesus supposedly heal some lepers in the stories, but he didn't cure the disease leprosy itself? Some people still suffer with leprosy to this day. Was he incompetent? Evil? Just wants certain people to suffer? Science has largely cured the disease leprosy. Thank scientists! Can you name a disease god has cured? Science has actually cured a number of diseases. Do you have any evidence that any gods even exist? How is jesus god's only son? Aren't we all supposedly created in god's image? Didn't god create Adam and Eve? The bible says pray for anything you want in god's name & god will give it to you. Can you please pray to regrow the limbs of an amputee? Petitionary prayer fails. What makes you think heaven is real then?
