50 Times People Snapped A Picture And It Turned Out To Be An ‘Accidental Renaissance’ (New Pics)
'Accidental Renaissance' is a subreddit that acts like a virtual gallery, dedicated to sharing and discussing images that unintentionally resemble works of art from the famous cultural movement known as the Renaissance. It took place in Europe roughly from the 14th to 17th centuries and was a time of great artistic and intellectual growth. During this period, humanity saw the emergence of some of the most famous creators in history, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
The subreddit celebrates the unexpected beauty that can be found in everyday life. Its members share photos of objects, scenes, and even people that have a striking similarity to Renaissance art; these images often showcase the symmetry, composition, and attention to detail that are characteristic of the old paintings and sculptures. Whether you're an art lover or just someone who appreciates the little things around us, I believe that 'Accidental Renaissance' can offer something to virtually anyone. The Advent Of Autumn
That's something I would consider showing as a picture while playing D&D
Sunning photographs. I'm expecting elves, hobbits, dwarfs, rangers, and wizards to emerge from the mist.
An Old Town In Salzburg, Austria
I know that this is supposed to be Renaissance, but it feels more Dickensian to me - right down to Scrooge with his cane.
I thought the same thing! Reminds me slightly of Café Terrace at Night.
Load More Replies...Salzburg is the town, it's not a town in Salzburg, Austria, which is the capital of Amsterdam, Sweden.
I thoroughly recommend it. I've visited in the winter when it's been snowy and it really does look like this. And you can get a cable car up into the mountains for a fabulous view of the whole area covered in snow. That said, I imagine it's gorgeous in the summer too.

Willow trees are my favorite. In the winter the local fire dept. would flood the park for ice-skating, and the willows among that were just beautiful.
This picture, although not Impressionistic in style reminds me of a Van Gogh painting.
I Just Became A Dad
Yes, I especially love how the light source is the mother :)
Load More Replies...Great poses and the mother’s arm would satisfy the most ardent lover of Renaissance life drawing.
These is gorgeous but where is the actual Dad? Shouldn’t it be called something like I just became a grandad?
This somewhat reminds me of a picture of Mary holding Baby Christ while the Wise Men looked down at their new King which I believe was painted by by Rafael
Syrians In Al Yarmouk Camp Waiting For Aid
I hate that people make other people suffer like this. This may seem like an aside, but it’s a serious statement: when others wonder why furries become furries, most of the time it’s c**p like this: we don’t want to be human, because we’re ashamed of what our fellow humans do to each other.
Load More Replies..."This picture taken the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) shows residents of the besieged Palestinian camp of Yarmouk, queuing to receive food supplies, in Damascus, Syria, on January 31, 2014."
It's impressive and ashaming that someone thought their reasons are so incredibly important that all this, all these people, all the harm and suffering and pain, are worth it and justified.
Calling A Friend
Can't spot the xBox controller in the original one though. I'm not saying it isn't there, I just can't find it. Just like Waldo.
Load More Replies...Turkmen Woman Weaving Her Hair
More like a dutch old master than an Italian renaissance image, nice composition and detail
My brain read douche and I was like, dang the old masters weren't THAT bad😂
Load More Replies...Although quite different this picture reminds me of the “Girl with the Pearl Earring”
That was my thought as well. She's all grown up now. :)
Load More Replies...This makes me think more of the work of old Dutch masters painters like Rembrandt and Rubens with the warmer tones and lighting.
Turkmen: the demonym for Turkmenistan, not to be confused with “Turkish men”
Just checking the comments to see if anyone tries insisting on "Turkperson."
They changed the name of the country now to Turkpersonistan.
Load More Replies...The Peaks Of Italy
That's the "Sasso di Sesto". I know this place because a very bloody ww1 battle took place in this exact mountaintop and up to the peak behind the spot from which this picture is taken. The three rocky outcrops to the right are the "Tre Cime di Lavaredo". This area is also very faithfully reproduced in the new WW1 first-person shooter "Isonzo"; https://www.moddb.com/news/isonzo-intel-23-the-dolomites
Village Of Cotignac Shrouded In Morning Mist
What a stunning view. I would be an incredibly happy person if I could wake up to a view like that with a mug of coffee and a good book.
The Story Of The Old Stove
There's something so cozy about this. The husband tending to the fire with amber glow surrounding him and the wife is cooking underneath a stream of light.
The mundane things are typically the best memories. I remember (as a young man) my grandmother churning butter from milk we that we had milked from the cow, and my aunt making biscuits from scratch.
A Bookshop Owner Repairs A Book
"repairs a book"... now that's a combination of words I haven't expected to read anytime soon.
There's not too much anymore that I am willing to buy if I were to win a lottery or lawsuit. But I would actually try and buy this entire room. Books, bookshelves, desk , but not that guy at the desk. (I have been informed that buying people is immoral and possibly - oh, I'm sorry - Very; I meant to say very illegal.)
There was a used bookstore in North Vancouver called Booklovers where the owner had boxes and piles and overstuffed shelves... it was a freakin' fire hazard, but I loved that place. It was like a maze.
Pakistan? This is what average old book banks look like in my city.

Camping In A Copse With The Early Morning Mist
I wish I lived there in a little cottage drinking tea and reflecting on nature
Saw a similar copse while hiking in Wales once, but I was too wet to take any pictures...
I believe it's like a little group of trees, like a really tiny forest. I could be wrong though.

It looks like a serene picture, and then you remember why there is no electricity ☹️
but she's lighting a candle in the dark, highly meaningful really. They're so strong <3
Load More Replies...Has Borodianka arrived at the Renaissance already? Seems like yesterday when they were making a big deal about the bright stuff that makes dead chickens turn brown and taste better, then they freaked out when someone jumped into it and his legs turned black and just broke off of his body. Turns out it is the hottest stuff you ever did see. Whew, that was a night. That's when the people over 35 were saying it's more of that crazy stuff kids make up and after 2 days lose interest in. They just went home and said it would never catch on.
Because you can see out into the dark night so much better if you hold a lit candle in front of your face.

Guy in the middle talking about how 10 pound hats give him headaches. Those are hats right? My second guess is wheels of cheese covered in fur but that doesn't seem quite right.

A Solitary House - Micheal Lane; 1973
Yes it is, see the owner; an old lady named Blairowizch. You can try to get a hold of her but a friend went there and tried told me you just go around and around never being able to find her. He said, in the end it was like talking to a wall.

Liberty Rallying The People
A woman’s place is in the revolution - Kandaka, or the word for Nubian queen, which was given to the woman in this photo chanting “thowra’ meaning revolution in Arabic. This photo was the from anti-government protests in Khartoum, Sudan in 2019
Looks to me like the pointer. That kind of finger extension is only possible when someone is righteously livid with a system, organization, or individual.
Load More Replies...I stand with liberty and for liberty. No man, woman or child should be enslaved by another people, religion or place. All are guilty of doing it. Even today.
It’s just supposed to remind you of a classic painting in terms of composition and lighting, not necessarily exact subject.

Two Women In A Convent, With A Cat
If the other woman wasn't on the phone, you'd have a difficult time putting a date when this was taken.
A surface of peaceful loving and living But under the habit of life in a convent Stirs the rolling and boiling feelings Humans will always have Even if you have devoted your life to God And God's works. It is the human condition And we are always trying to overcome it. Instead of we shall overcome We should say, We will do better today and work to overcome Our baser, human emotions, and instead turn them into Good works for God.

People used to mock me and my friends for using /s or /j. I stand by it, and stand by your use.
Load More Replies...When did it begin that when you made a sarcastic comment, that you have to spell out that it is sarcastic? It is sort of like having to explain a punchline to a joke. If people are unable to deduce what is sarcasm and what is not, then that should be their problem. Life is too short to have to spell out and explain every single utterance or comment we make. We should take the pressure off ourselves. If people choose to be offended and react so quickly before pausing a moment and making sure they have assessed it correctly, well......?
Lots of us who are autistic don't always detect sarcasm. It's helpful and inclusive to make it clear. It's only adding two characters and provides accessibility.

In the context of eating, the use of "al fresco" is appropriate ("in the fresh air"). In the context of art, it's kinda funny ("on fresh plaster").
