I don't even think of inheritance. Comes as a surprise to me when I get one. I'm more focused on making my own money and trying to support my family. I don't understand why families fight over inheritances.

It really is. I haven't seen my family in years because the step kids all fought over my granddad's money when he passed. He legally adopted them so sure they have a claim, but all of us blood children wanted the money to go to pay his medical bills so the family home wouldn't get reposessed. Very sad stuff. They even tried to have my uncle declared legally incompetent so he couldn't get the house--the same house where he helped care for my grandparents for years until they passed. He's different but certainly not incompetent.
