It hasn't been all doom and gloom, though! There have been some incredible breakthroughs in science, medicine, and technology that give us renewed faith in what humanity is capable of. From shocking attacks to moments of peace, here’s a look at the major events that shaped a truly unforgettable year.

On February 28, 2025, a high-stakes meeting in the Oval Office between President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was held to negotiate aid for the war with Russia. The discussions became contentious, reportedly after the U.S. leaders questioned Ukraine’s position in the war, and concluded early without an agreement. A subsequent lunch and press conference were abruptly canceled, leaving the future of American support for Ukraine uncertain.

And it's the Hamas that starves the Palestines by snatching the supplies and selling them or causing trouble at the GHF depots usually ending with dead people to blame Israel. There is nothing Israel can do differently in Gaza without risking further attacks from that side in the future. Quote Hamas: "We'll commit as many 7th Octobers as necessary till Israel stops to exist." - I don't blame the IDF for planning to prevent that

Former president signing a document at a desk with US flags in the background illustrating headlines that rocked the world

The United States directly intervened in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran on June 21, 2025, by bombing three of Iran's nuclear facilities. The strike came just two days after President Trump stated he would wait before deciding on American involvement. While the administration initially claimed the attack had "completely obliterated" the sites, later reports suggested it only set back Iran's nuclear program by a few months.

Tots and pears, it could all have been prevented if Texas would actually invest in water management projects. Also interestingly they voted against FEMA but when this went down they were the first to scream for financial help.

'Liberation Day' Marks The Announcement Of Trump's New Tariffs

Former U.S. president speaking at podium with American flag backdrop, holding a chart, capturing headlines that rocked 2025.

Trump declared April 2, 2025, to be "Liberation Day," marking the occasion with a massive increase in tariffs described as America's "declaration of economic independence." The new policy imposed a 10% tariff on all imported goods, with even higher reciprocal tariffs placed on specific targets like China and the European Union. This was the largest announcement of its kind since the 1930s, triggering a wave of international negotiations as countries sought to lower the new duties.

This wasn't just "sad". It was reckless, idiotic and needless. It set the US at odds with allies, in addition to placing a larger economic burden on US citizens. Small business owners are going under. When Trump brags about bringing in billions in tariffs, he's deliberately leaving out the fact that that money is coming from American's pockets.

The "Renaming" Of The Gulf Of Mexico

Ocean waves crashing near rocks along a coastal town shore under a clear sky, capturing headlines that rocked the world in 2025.

In a controversial move in early 2025, President Donald Trump issued an executive order officially renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. The administration stated the change was meant to honor the body of water's economic importance to the United States. The decision prompted immediate international criticism, particularly from Mexico, and created a divisive public reaction, though some digital platforms like Google Maps quickly adopted the new name.

We should rename the Hudson river to an American name then? /S BUT! The entire continent is AMERICA, from Canada to Chile, so it wouldnt matter anyway. The Hudson bay is yet another Gulf of America...

Note: There is no international naming convention for maps. There's also no international body that enforces any kind of "rules". Thus, if you pull up maps from around the world, you'll quite often find that bodies of water, locations, and even whole countries have completely different names when compared to how maps are displayed or named in your country.

But I'm sure that there is a broad international consensus that naming is not up to Donald Trump.
