It's a baby Roborovski hamster. :) All hamsters have tails, with Syrians having the longest at about 1-2cm and can get wet-tail. 'Dwarf' hamsters such as a Robo have really tiny tails and don't get wet-tail as a result. However all baby animals have longer tails than adult animals, and so the tails appear much larger at this time. But no, not a gerbil, Roborovski hamster. ^__^ <3

Hamsters have tails. As the body grows, the tail appears smaller. Gerbils tails are quite long. I am an expert as my children and I had both of them, even had a hamster give birth. That grossed out my kids as they look like pink larvae at first and the mom eats about half of them..what can you say?
