To prove that some celebrations of love look like anything but fairy tales, members of the 'Trashy' subreddit shared snaps of the wild and tasteless things they’ve ever spotted at a wedding. With the tagline, "All things Trashy!", this online community has set out on a mission to expose the low-class nuptial disasters.
From outrageous invitations to mothers-in-law who turn up in bridal gowns, we at Bored Panda wrapped up a compilation of photos that vividly illustrate how bad things can get. Since 2012, the 'Trashy' online group has amassed over 2.8 million members. A few thousand people scroll through the page at any given time and are always on the lookout for some juicy pictures to pop up at the top. The moderators stated that this is a humor subreddit where they forbid bullying or toxic behavior. Moreover, they don’t allow heated discussions about social and political topics, explaining that you’re not going to change the world by arguing in a place where people laugh at drunk people making fools of themselves in public.
According to the moderators, this is a perfect place for people to poke fun at "trashy stories, trashy glamour, all things fake, plastic, and downright trashy, low-class, no-class, white trash, bimbos, and damn proud." Those looking after the page also added that posts on the group need to be funny, and they need to be a celebration of trashiness. "If it makes you angry then it doesn’t belong here," the moderators added.

But this does beg the question, what does trashy actually mean? Well, the internet meme database Know Your Meme stated that the term trashy is used in a derogatory way to describe something extremely low-quality or inappropriate. "It is used as an antonym of 'classy' and typically refers to human behavior that is undesirable. Someone who is considered 'trashy' or behaving in such a manner typically exhibits selfish or grotesque actions with no remorse, especially when being inconsiderate," they explained.

I understand some women want to make a big deal out of their wedding and it's a whole experience for them, and I know this might make some people mad, but I will never understand the princess theme with grown women. I have never in my life wanted to dress up as a princess and put on a crown made of cheap plastic and rhinestones to pretend I'm some snow queen or something. It's just so tacky. Maybe when I was 8 I'd pretend to be a fairy because I read Peter Pan or something but then I grew up. I feel the same way about men dressing like cowboys. But anyway...the husband's pose, ugh. This one isn't cheap at all. The dresses weigh 50+ lbs, and those headpieces can weigh 10-20 lbs or more. The show actually paid for the dresses at about $40K - $80K.

This is one of the more tasteful dresses on MBFGW. I think this is the UK one where the dresses were all made by Thelma Madine. Most of the outfits were garish, like the pineapple and palm tree duo. This one reminds me of a Creamsicle.

Here's some backstory for you guys. They were on my big fat american gypsy wedding. (A tv show about the very different wedding culture they have from what's usually traditional) His name is Junior if I recall correctly, & he designed their outfits in his favorite color, which she didn't get to see until the day of. There was a very large age difference in these two and they barely knew each other apart from their online relationship because they didn't live very close to each other. His mother swore she wasn't going to attend because she didn't approve of this girl who was actually pretty sweet and innocent, mostly because she already had a small child out of wedlock, and also because they didn't ask for her blessings as matriarch of the family. Fast fwd to the wedding day and the girl was in a golf cart being driven to the altar and can't see over her dress what's happening but his Mom showed up and was cussing and chasing the golf cart with her cane and beating him up. 😅

Gypsy wedding - the TV show showed the good bits about these abominations ; having organised and run a few over the years, I can only remember one that didn't end in a mass brawl, competetive drunkenness, general idiocy all round, uncontrollable bolshy and ignorant gypsy families - after one, we found that some of them had been crapping in a side room rather than using the toilets 50 yards away ..... Thank god I no longer have to deal with them or any of the general public any more ....

A bunch of these pictures are "Hey, look at these people going casual at their wedding", and while I admit that, for me, a wedding is a formal thing, maybe it isn't that way for everybody. Their wedding doesn't have to please me. It only has to please THEM. I think it would be awful for someone to say "This style isn't really 'me', but it's what everybody else expects, so that's what I'll do." Nah, mate. You do you.

About the maga: I would discourage that especially because it takes the happy day away from the couple and makes it about some other person who is not even there and couldn't care less about their existence. Same as a wedding themed to Putin, or even to Jesus Christ or some other god-thought entity. Weddings (at least those in western culture) are supposed to be about the bride and groom and a bit about the family. Not about the money or the fame or some other person who gets a cake in their likeness. You'll be placed as second (or even last) fiddle your whole life, statistically. Don't put yourself in that position on what is supposed to be the happiest day of your life!

About the maga: I would discourage that especially because it takes the happy day away from the couple and makes it about some other person who is not even there and couldn't care less about their existence. Same as a wedding themed to Putin, or even to Jesus Christ or some other god-thought entity. Weddings (at least those in western culture) are supposed to be about the bride and groom and a bit about the family. Not about the money or the fame or some other person who gets a cake in their likeness. You'll be placed as second (or even last) fiddle your whole life, statistically. Don't put yourself in that position on what is supposed to be the happiest day of your life!
