In today's world, there are many ways to get entertained, especially when it comes to content consumption. Books, video essays, TV shows, movies, comedy specials – there’s something for everyone’s taste. Even within a certain type of content, there are so many choices that everyone can find what they like best.
Let’s take comedy as an example – there are so many comedy specials nowadays it's nearly impossible to count them. So, a conclusion suggests itself – there are many famous comedians out there. Yet, some people would argue that some of them did not deserve to be so popular, and those opinions are what today’s list is made of. So, let’s jump in and see what comedians are lowkey hated by at least some of the netizens, shall we?

The 2 people I don't see being commented are James Corden and Jimmy Fallon.
Some of the other people listed here might also be horrible people but Corden and Fallon are just outright horrible comedians for being supremely unfunny.
Fallon; not funny on SNL. not funny in movies. not funny as a talk show host.
Rosanne Barr. She was never funny...just bitter and loud.
Rosanne was a terrific sitcom, loaded with talented performers, except for the title character being the turd in the punchbowl.
Unpopular opinion but Kevin Hart. Dude is annoying to me.
Not unpopular opinion, a lot of people don't like him professionally (no idea how he is off-camera). He's not funny, jokes are repetitive and whiny, he utilizes the Napoleon Syndrome too much and tries to make his personality bigger to compensate, but he comes off irritating and desperate. Like the 5yr old kid at a party who won't stop pulling on the adults' shirt for attention. I don't hate the guy, but a lot of people are sick of him, especially in acting as he plays himself over and over with no variance or talent (we're also sick of Tom Cruise & Chris Pratt for that too).
Some say that music is a universal language, while others argue that humor is too. Well, maybe not as much as a language, but a common instinct for sure. As this Vox article states, despite not having one common language, no culture is unfamiliar with humor; everyone has an instinct to laugh.
Additionally, it is proven that humor and the laughter it causes are beneficial for one’s health. You know, as the saying goes, “Laughter is the best medicine” – well, it turns out it’s (at least partially) true, both physically and mentally.
With the former, at the most basic level, when laughing, a person exercises their diaphragm, stimulates their lungs, and relieves tension in the muscles. These rather basic actions improve cardiac health, as they increase heart rate and lower blood pressure, which is the same thing that happens during exercise, which as we already know is good for health.
Honestly? Joe Rogan. Dude has never been a good comedian.
His biggest 'comedy' moment was calling out a joke thief in Carlos Mencia.
Universally, every one of Joe's specials has been largely unfunny.
Rob Schneider is not a funny man.
Sadly...he seems to be going off the deep end with nasty comments about people and certain groups. Or he was always a douche and we're just getting to see it more because he doesn't try to hide it as hard. If he wasn't friends with Adam Sandler his career would've fizzled out years ago.
Ellen DeGeneres.
Her sitcom was actually hilarious until she came out. Not because she came out, because good for her but who cares, but because that's what it became all about.
Her latest stand up is hilarious and they really abandoned her when she came out. Everyone freaked and she was ostracized for years. If she is mean, who cares. Male comedians have been meaner and engage in criminal activity and no one bats an eye.
Load More Replies...I really liked her in Ellen's Energy Adventure with Bill Nye at Disney. Now they are both kind of jerkoffs
I've read that Bill Nye is a jerk, but I applaud him for coming out and stating how creationist views are a threat to science education and innovation in the US. And look where we are now, thirteen years later. We should've listened to the jerk back then.
Load More Replies...I saw one standup show of hers from probably 15 or more years ago and I thought it was hilarious. My son and I watched together. My son is SUPER picky about comedians and is a stoic, but he was laughing out loud. That's the only stand-up of hers I ever saw, though.
Treated people like garbage. So full of herself you need three people to store the size of her ego. Lives in the UK now. Thank goodness.
She was funny when she first started out, then she got old and bitter.
She reeks of the psychology of someone who desperately demands constant attention and being the center of attention.
Laughter also can reduce physical pain, as the release of endorphins produces natural painkillers, improving a person's pain threshold. That’s why some doctors opt to make their patients laugh as often as possible.
Also, it improves one’s sleep, boosts immunity, and, as we already mentioned, helps with mental health and social relationships. It does so by reducing stress, improving memory, bringing people together, and simply adding much-needed positivity.
So, it’s natural for people to gravitate towards someone that can make them laugh. For example, according to the 2022 Singles in America survey from the online dating service Match, 92% of people seek someone who can make them laugh.
Surprised nobody said Andy Dick yet.
Andy D**k is a comedian? I thought he was just famous for nominative determinism.
I think Jerry Seinfeld’s standup prowess is vastly overblown due to the success of Seinfeld the sitcom. He’s a decent observational comic, but people treat him like he’s a comedy god because he was funny on TV.
He’s also not that good at writing scripted comedies. If Unfrosted and Bee movie taught us anything, it’s that Jerry desperately needs Larry David to make him funny.
Most of the Seinfeld tv show's success is due to the presence of Larry David. Seinfeld's stand-up is not up to the standards of top comedians, past or present.
A lot of people really dislike Amy Schumer.
But this gravitation doesn’t have to be towards personal relationships. People can also crave to be amused by the media they consume, whether it’s a book, a TV show, or a comedy special.
The latter usually are hosted by comedians – people whose jobs’ main aim is to make people laugh. Getting their own comedy special is quite an impressive point in nearly every comedian’s career; for many, it shows that they've "made it" as an entertainer. After all, not every open mic participant gets to have one, especially on platforms like Netflix, which currently carries an extensive catalog of them.
Real lack of Andrew Dice Clay here...
If you like offensive, puerile comedy based on misogyny and homophobia, ADC is your guy.
Pauly Shore - he's lucky his mother owned a comedy club.
I put Pauly Shore and Carrot Top in the exhibitionists category rather than comedians. Didn't like either of them.
Why do they keep trying to make George Lopez happen?
Yet, some people would argue that not all of the comedians deserve the flowers they get. That’s what today’s list is all about. It was formed from opinions various people shared in a dedicated online thread, where they were asked a question “Who is the worst comedian to ever make it big?”
From Matt Rife, who got involved in a controversy following his sexist jokes, to James Corden, who people dislike due to his alleged poor behavior off-camera, the list is full of various names. And now you’re left to judge whether they belong here or not by pressing those upvote/downvote buttons!
Also, if you have any other names you think belong here, write them in the comments and see whether people agree!
It used to be Carlos Mencia.
It still is...but it used to be, too.
I've never understood Jay Leno's appeal. At all.
Agree. There's nothing appealing about him or his attempt at comedy.
Matt Rife is getting too popular for what amounts to less than what I say to my friends in party chat.
He's good at crowd work, as least per the clips of him online. Why he pivoted to cater to an incel, redpilled audience is beyond me.
Kenny Banya. I mean what’s up with his fixation on Ovaltine?
You know, Dana Cook did an AMA here years ago and i asked him about how he felt about it becoming trendy to hate Dane Cook. I used the analogy of Nickleback...he had no idea what I was talking about, or at least played it off as such.
Dana Cook is the poster child for the celebration of mediocrity. Cook was climbing upward just as social media hit, so he got on MySpace and blew up. Suddenly he was everywhere. His jokes aren't funny, but because he's so energetic he keeps the seats filled.
I agree Amy Schumer isn’t funny but if Whitney Cummings looked like Amy Schumer we’d all agree she was worse than Amy.
I'll taking Whitney over Amy any day, but that's not saying much. I did like Cummings in the beginning, but lately, she just isn't doing it for me.
Bert Kreischer. 50 year old man running around with no shirt on desperately trying to hang on to his frat boy image despite college ending 25 years ago. That and he basically has one joke.
He's the equivalent of the dude who graduated high school three years ago but still shows up to hang out in the parking lot at 2:20.
For me, Chris D’elia.
Oh, I did like D'elia. Caught his acts as often as possible. Right up until the sexual assault accusations began, then they started pouring in. Uh, uh. You're a predator, not a comedian.
Jeff Dunham. Brilliant ventriloquist, terrible comedian.
I should have known when I clicked that all but one would be American so I would have no idea. My bad but I do wish BP would become less US-centric.
I never liked Russel Brand, even before he lost his mind and became a right-wing nut job.
Load More Replies...There are lots of comedians who aren't funny. Dennis Miller is a good example.
Rosie Jones, Rosie Jones and Rosie Jones. No, I don't give a fvck she's disabled. It takes her so long to get through a story, any hope it might be even slightly amusing has died.
Never heard of most of these, I guess they're American. My particular issue is with Jon Culshaw - he's a reasonably accurate impressionist, but just not a funny man. I could give multiple instances but top of the list was when he was on Auntie's Sporting Bloomers - a blooper show about sports - and did Jerry Springer. Compare that with Alistair Magowan on They Think it's All Over - a sports quiz - and did Alan Hansen and Paul Gascoigne, both ex-soccer players.
I haven't heard of most oft these, but the few I have heard of I don't like. I would add Dave Huges, Tom Gleeson (though he is slightly better in Australian Taskmaster), Will Anderson, Rebel Wilson and Rove McManus
Yeah, have to say agree with all those Aussie ones. Never got why people think they're so funny. There's only one Aussie comedian truly makes me laugh and that's Shaun Micallef. He's fücking hilarious!!!!
Load More Replies...YES! I was trying to think of her name!
Load More Replies...Not heard of most of these, but I guess they're American. James Corden, Peter Kay and Russell Brand are all far more popular than they deserve.
Ron White has always been a difficult one for me, yet he's so popular and lauded by the standup community. Always found his jokes and comments horrendously outdated and insulting on modern society, like we pulled a guy from the 1750's into the present and gave him a mic. He didn't come out with a direct "grab 'em by the pus*y" comment, but everything he says drips with the undercurrent of that mentality. Like he's a slightly more self-controlled version of Trump, being passive-aggressive douchey but not enough to get canceled. Many will disagree with me, of course, he has a huge fanbase.
Don't forget all the "Git 'er done" redneck comedians. And Jackie Martling.
I really expected Larry the Cable Guy and Kevin James on this list. Dumb does not equal funny.
I liked Kevin James sitcom, but paid to see him live. The opening act was way funnier.
Load More Replies...I got comped jerry Seinfeld tickets at a casino. People were laughing when he cleared his throat others walked out after 5 minute. BTW back when HBO ran their great young comedian specials jerry set was a que for a bathroom break
Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, David Letterman (Leno way better, imo, but he made the list), Adam Sandler... Everybody has their own flavor, though, I guess.
Kudos to the people pompously declaring that a comedian is, objectively, unfunny. If they aren’t your cup of tea, okay; but telling everyone else that, because you don’t like them they are, as a matter of fact, not funny at all is something else entirely. For instance, I’m not a big fan of Mitch Hedberg. I find his jokes to be repetitive and silly in an eye-rolling sort of way. But I won’t say something asinine like, “Mitch Hedberg isn’t funny” as humor is largely a matter of taste. Joke thievery and those that have turned out to have done terrible things are different than them being not funny.
I don't think any of the people listed here are funny. Painful, yes. Funny, no.
In the UK it's a woman called Sara Pascoe. She thinks she's clever, who knows? She may be. Funny, she most certainly isn't.
Oh I really enjoy her on QI. Haven't seen her on anything else.
