29 Answers To The Question “What’s A Women’s Thing Men Should Absolutely Start Doing?”
Back in 2017, a survey from the Pew Research Center – a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world – established that the majority of Americans believe that men and women are notably distinct in several things: how they express their feelings, their physical abilities, hobbies and personal interests, and their approaches to parenting.
Now, in reality, this shouldn't have come as a surprise. Although men and women come from the same planet – and not from Mars and Venus like many like to quote – we’re still pretty different. However, what sucks is that a bunch of those differences get influenced by our pretty toxic society. So, thanks to Reddit and its diverse content, today we're going to learn about the ‘womanly’ activities that men should definitely start practicing.
“What’s a women’s thing men should absolutely start doing?” – this internet user turned to one of Reddit’s most informative and thought-provoking communities, asking its members to list some stereotypically womanlike things men should totally start doing. The thread managed to garner over 34K upvotes in just the span of a week, as well as 22.5K comments containing some superb suggestions.

I (man) started carrying a ~~purse~~ satchel years ago and never looked backed. I’m a new man. Breath stinky? Boom here’s some gum. Headache? Boom here’s a pill. Phone dead? Boom here’s a charger. My little bag carries so much and has saved me so many times!
Not assuming that kindness and courtesy is sexual or romantic attraction.
Yeah, no sh*t. My boss telling me to be nicer to coworkers does NOT mean I’ve suddenly developed a desire to have s3x with you, EDDIE. Edit: aww thanks guys
Yessss! Especially when bartending. Dude, my job is to be friendly and serve you to best of my ability. No, we did not have a connection. No, you cannot have my number. Do you see the wedding ring on my finger?
No, I don't want the keys to your hotel room. (Happened to me more than once bartending at a hotel bar, usually by older men (I was 21). I would just smile, throw the keys into the tip jar to go back to the desk and carry on. Too weird. I'm sure those guys would have had a literal heart attack if I showed up.
Load More Replies...I only smiled at you, because I don't want to be written up for not being friendly to customers.
This! Ugh! At work guys hit on me even tho my WEDDING RING is in full view. They think they can get me to sleep with them bc like my boss said I’m the nicest person in the department (they don’t know the truth lol). Even when I walk away they follow me. Men there act like they have not seen a human being with a vagina before wtf
And that going out of your way to be "a nice guy" because you think it means a woman is obligated to have sex with you or date you, and acting like a martyr when they don't, makes you a creep!
Men: No woman ever gives us compliments. It's so rare to receive them. Women: You look nice today, your shirt looks really cool, etc., Men: Oh, it's a declaration of love, she loves me. You want me to be kind and courteous, quit catching feelings over me doing so. I couldn't care less about you in that sense, I just like seeing people from most walks of life smile and feel good about themselves. If you look good, I'll say so. I'm not trying to marry or screw you, damn!
Im a guy, I agree, that being said if I say your shirt, sweater or whatever looks nice I want nothing past that comment. Im not trying to pick you up, I dont want your number, I could honestly care less about you or wanting to get to know you. I honestly want nothing to do with you.
Load More Replies...I had to be real careful being too friendly with some guys, they read it as an excuse to put their hands in unwanted places then reared back in shock when I snarled at them. I hated having to be cold and emotionless with them but it was the only way for them to NOT think I was flirting. I'm told this is because they get so little affection from their own families, that they are STARVING for it but they are only told that it happens in sexual relationships. It's sad.
I know im not attractive. Just becos im nice to you doesnt mean im attracted to you. So u dont have to be rude to me just to give the message that u are not interested in me. 😑.
At work they are expected to be friendly like men can be, but its not as easy for women cos some men take that as an invitation to harass. Or even think its okay to make sexist "jokes" at you because now they think they know you/ you dont scare them? (i dont know why men do this) i would never treat any man that way, i really like decent kind men unfortunately i've only met a small handful in my life
Load More Replies...This is a gotcha either way. Women want men to be psychic: perfectly responsive without guessing. It is a setup. Can it.
This works both ways. As a guy if I say your sweater, shirt, hair or whatever looks nice or smile im not trying to pick you up or get your number. I said you look nice because I think you look nice, nothing more or less. I have no wish to take you anywhere, I dont want to talk to you nor do I wish to continue the conversation after the interaction
Lol, so wait, your saying this IS a trait females possess? 🤣 yeah no chic has ever been sh***y to a random dude who's being nice to her because she thinks he's hitting on her, not once ever, never happens
Dexter, read the room! Some women are not overly nice to men because some take it as an invitation. In my opinion it would be nice to be friendly to whom ever you choose, but it can become awkward and unsafe.
Load More Replies... Don't make fun of your guy friends for being vulnerable or if they were a victim of something normally a woman would be a victim of.
Like when a female teacher has sex with a male student, don't say the kid is lucky. Be as disgusted as you would if it was the other way around.
Pee sitting down so there isn't p**s all over the toilet seat, floor, wall, etc
I work in a kitchen full of men and it's quite sad to listen to them tell eachother that they can't cry. Or that they are not supposed to do so.
I don't know who came up with this but I fight that "concept" every chance I get.
As a result, most of them feel safe to share their emotions with me. Even crying.
It's total BS that men don't cry. Anyone who isn't an emotionless psychopath cries. It's how we deal with overwhelming emotion. To shame someone for showing emotion is ridiculous. It's better to cry now than to snap and attack people later.
Be responsible for themselves and the household just as much as they expect their wife/girlfriend to be, not just be an extra child essentially
A recent study (I think I saw it on Neuroscience Today a couple weeks ago) suggested that when men don't do their share of household labor, female partners, particularly those with children, find them less attractive because they start viewing them as dependents, and the blurring of wife and mother roles is a major turnoff
I was trying on jeans for work the other day and I found this magical material that stretches but looks like denim. I was gushing over them and my wife laughed and said a lot of women’s jeans use that material and a lot of hers are the same.
Men should discover these jeans!
Edit: A lot of responses are about the inferior quality. Fair enough but I work retail and am constantly squatting to fill shelves etc so I’ll take comfort over durability any day. Especially when I’ve got a bit of an a*s on me, customers don’t need to be walking around the corner and catching a plumber’s crack unexpectedly!
Skin care and applying sunscreen.
YES! For pasty-a*s people like me, it's essential. The sun damage you received in your youth will come back to bite you in the a*s when you get older (not to mention what that sun damage will do to your appearance over time). Skin cancer is no joke.
My husband never really did pedicures before we met and the fist time I did one for him he was in love with it. I used a scraper to get the dead skin off his heels (he calls them hooves haha) and he was horrified how much came off. He’ll even inspect my work now and say “this toenail is a little jagged do want me to look a mess??” He likes being pampered and I’m happy to do it for him!
Guy here, I'll say use lip balm/chapstick.
The more you use Chapstick, the more you need to use Chapstick. Better to just make sure you're adequately hydrated
Treating yourself. Self care. If that means fishing for a weekend
Go
Self care doesn’t always look the same
Getting checked out by a specialist. There’s a reason colon cancer has a higher mortality rate among men when it’s actually one of the most preventable cancers. The thought of having a colonoscopy done makes them squirm.
I know there are plenty of men who do it already, but I feel like more men should start sewing.
I wish it was viewed as less weird to wear makeup as a man. I'd love to rock some guyliner to make my pretty eyes pop even more
Stretches! Yoga / pilates is dominated by women.
- Better mobility
- Range of motion
- Injury prevention
- Indirectly improves strength
- Prevents joint pain
- Feels good
Definitely. Strength + endurance + flexibility are the big three, but only the first two are legacy virtues from caveman days. But be tactful in your search: it wasn’t entirely easy for me to find a yoga class where the women students didn’t mind practicing with men.
Wipe properly
If they get a skid mark, it means two things. Firstly, they obviously didn't wipe properly, but(t) secondly, they scratched their itchy, dirty b******e through their clothes. So, if the point was to avoid touching their b******e, then they failed anyway lol. *edit* what if I spell it "buttwhole"? 🤔
Separate shampoo, conditioner and body wash
That is one weird-a*s picture for this post. Did the conditioner commit suicide?
Now that I'm growing my hair out a little longer, didn't know how much I was missing out on not using hair conditioner.
Edit: Since this comment took off I wanted to add, this comment is more of a statement of men not taking care of their hair the way they should. Whatever works for you, keep doing it. Just take care of your beautiful hair.
When you shower, actually wash your body with something that isn’t water.
Where are y'all finding these men that don't wash themselves? I mean, I've obviously met people in my life (of both sexes) that need to improve their personal hygiene, but I don't think this is a "man issue".
Making an effort to make their home smell nice….the way you clean (taking a shower does not actually clean your shower), washing your bedding with more frequency, buy a few candles, etc… you will feel more relaxed at home and clean sheets are better for your skin/health.
(Pro tip- bath and body works room spray in the bathroom will be a game changer after your morning constitution or before anyone comes over ….or while they are there if you/they ordered the wrong thing on a date and will completely cover the smell of you destroying it in there)
A clean, or at least tidy, home means the occupant(s) take pride in it. Doesn’t matter man or woman, at least give your house a sanitary cleaning once a week, and clean as you go the rest of the time. Wipe counters with clean cloth and cleaning spray, use gritty cleanser to clean toilets, sinks, tubs/showers, vacuum all floors and mop what isn’t covered in carpet (generally kitchen and bath—-after vacuuming them), dust furniture, pictures, TV, etc, and use the vacuum hose to clean upholstery. Wash your dishes and get the moldy food out of the fridge then wipe it down too. You wouldn’t believe how satisfying it is to get your house clean. You also wouldn’t believe how much better a date goes when you bring them t9 a clean house—-a pig sty is a huge turn off, believe me.
Putting a blanket on your lap while you work. It's life changing.
I was once told that because I am a man I should never own or even use an umbrella. What sort of asshattery is that?
Learn to survive alone. Learn to cook, wash clothes and iron them. Learn DIY and basic mechanics. How to clean a house. How to repair clothes. I taught my children these skills from an early age because you never know when you need to live alone and cannot rely on others to help you.
It's funny to see this while also hearing women complain about there not being any "real" men anymore. Some of the items here are legitimate and some are just gender stereotypes. "Wipe properly"? Really? If men were as bad as this list suggests, none of us would ever find partners and the human race would have died out centuries ago.
Yeah, i didnt understand some of these either.
Load More Replies...I like a lot of these, but the cleaning ones really get me. Why would you, as a man attracted to women who own so many perfumes and lotions and products designed to make us smell and look and feel good, not want to put in any effort to do the same? You really think women—your gf, wife, whatever—are going to be attracted or turned on by a stinky a*s, smelly grown, adult man with streak marks in his underwear and dirt-encrusted nails and other nasty stuff? No, you are not manly for not having wiped your butt or for not showering in in a week or never washing your hands or taking care of your down-there area! You are a pansy. Besides, what woman wants to sleep with a guy who has fungus growing on his d**k? Blech! Last sentence is totally for dramatic effect as I don't know anyone with that issue;(
Wow, have you been hanging around humans? It doesn't really sound like it. Regardless of what you think, plenty of men are meticulous with their hygiene, and I have come across plenty of women who stink to high heaven. Perhaps you are rolling with the wrong crowd. (as if this is a "man problem"...what a joke)
Load More Replies...If this topic reversed the sexes, it wouldn't be published for fear of backlash. Don't give in to this pathetic attempt to further divide us.
I kinda think you didn't read it. Most of these were wishing guys could be free to be open and emotional and creative.
Load More Replies...The ratio of women telling men what to do is far greater than the ratio of men telling women what to do. This Dexter Moncrieff, who seems to be rather unpopular in this thread, has a point. I'd be willing to wager that the vast majority of his down votes came from women. A villain never thinks they are a villain.
If that many women are shouting at you, then maybe you're the problem.
