Feeling like there’s no good left in the world? It happens. Maybe you’ve had more than enough rudeness, cruelty, and insensitivity for this week, and need a dose of wholesomeness to remind you that it’s not all bad.
That’s why we at Bored Panda put together this list of moments that warmed our hearts by showing us the bonds that form within families, communities, and beyond when people (and not only people!) extend kindness and support to others. These images show that it doesn’t matter whether a gesture is simple, or grand - you can never show your loved ones that you care too many times, it pays to lend a helping hand to someone going through adversity, and a random good deed for a stranger can make thousands of people smile.

One study authored by an Oxford anthropology researcher found that any and all acts of kindness, whether towards your loved ones or your community, can make not only the recipient happier, but also the giver. Hundreds of study participants all over the world, after a week of consciously striving to behave kindly, reported feeling happier than the control group (which is not to say that the people in the control group were all unkind, but apparently changing your outlook can make all the difference.)

Even study participants who made an effort to be kind to themselves by taking time alone to relax, meditate and listen to their favorite music experienced similar effects. What’s more, simply observing kind acts had a positive impact on the study participants, which goes to show that your good deeds could go even further than you think, and that noticing the good around you could go a long way towards feeling happier.

This is Bridgeton. Mr. ‘C’ has lived here for nearly 50 years, and is well known in his neighborhood. Yesterday, unknown to him while he was watching television, this group saw smoke coming from the roof of his house. Rather than ignore it, they were concerned for their neighbor and alerted him. They got Mr. C out of his house while a neighbor climbed out the window with a fire extinguisher and slowed down a burning exhaust fan that was on fire.
