Given the myriad of colors we see in the animal kingdom, seeing a purely white animal can be an unsettling but magical experience. Albino animals and rare all-white species and leucistic creatures are the same as any other animals but with a coloration that makes them (sometimes literally) one in a million.
Albinism is an umbrella term that covers a variety of genetic pigmentation disorders. Most creatures born with albinism are born with white or pink skin and fur, and some (not all) have reddish or violet eyes. Albinism in animals is associated with poor eyesight and a higher susceptibility to skin cancers, but such cute animals and people are otherwise no different from their peers. Leucism is a similar condition that can affect a wider array of pigments than albinism does.
Though the white fur might seem super cool, it actually makes the animal pop out of their environments more, thus more visible to predators. And if these unusual animals might fit well in ever-wintery landscapes, it is so much harder for those living in the jungle.

They didn't mean these dogs were being inbred & it had nothing to do with their training. Light Dobe colors are often from inbreeding.

...while cool to see, Ms. Ashley, that is NOT a mouse. That is a Nutria Rat. They are a semi aquatic rodent species closely related to beavers, and top out at 10+ pounds. They are also an invasive species, and not nice at all.

I think it’s adorable, sure the red eyes combined with the red glare from the flash makes it look a bit evil and it doesn’t help that it’s shot at night. But it’s like evil in a cute way. Like ya he might head out and swallow some people whole every once in a while but then he’ll return home and cuddle up in your arms.

Not a true albino; Albinism is a genetic mutation in which there is an absence of melanin, which gives color to the skin, feathers, hair and eyes. This results in the defining characteristics of the very pale pink or red eyes. Leucism, on the other hand, is a partial loss of pigmentation, which can make the animal have white or patchily colored skin, hair, feathers and so on, but the pigment cells in the eyes are not affected by the condition. In conclusion, when you see a totally white animal, look at the eyes. Their color will be able to tell you, definitively, whether or not the animal is albino or leucistic. A perfect visual example would be to compare an albino ball python to a leucistic ball python, at least where they eyes are concerned. The absence of melanin in reptiles rarely leaves them the true, pure white the leucism does, but I am only using this example for the stark contrast of the eye color, or lack there of.

Albinism is the absence of melanin pigment cells. Reptiles also have other pigment cells called xanthophores (yellow color) and iridophores (iridescent/reflective)
