It is completely okay to have different opinions about music or food or anything else for that matter. It is also normal to not agree with one another. But there are some people in this world, who may have gone too far with their opposing views or are just trying to get on everybody's nerves. Recently, people on Twitter started sharing their unpopular music opinions, and some, while weird, are still acceptable, for example, standing by their love of country music. But then there were some who's opinion are simply outrageous, from calling the Beatles overrated to saying all rap music sucks, these people are definitely trying to stir up some arguments, and well, they succeeded.

It's definitely "real" music. I've always had a soft spot for the music from the Kirby and Mario games, and movie music sometimes overlaps in the "real" music category as famous musicians often compose songs specifically meant for that movie to begin with and then those songs often get radio time afterwards.

I couldn't upvote this more! How can it not be "real", I mean, not only there are legends like Nobuo Uematsu, who actually hold real live concerts out there, with a real orchestra, but the 8-bit sound itself created a whole artistic movement of musicians making music from old game consoles.

Video game and film music are accepted forms of music on Classic FM, a radio station in the UK that plays nothing but classical music. They have their own show on Saturday afternoons, and are voted for in the yearly chart of 300 best classical tunes.

I 1000% agree with this. Game scores have come a long way in the past 50 years. About half of the albums I've purchased in the past 2 or 3 years have been game soundtracks. Check out the music from the Final Fantasy series, Dragon age series, and Mass Effect to name a few. Those composers are insanely talented.

Legend of Mana's "Song of Mana" is still one of my favorite things ever too. When I heard it as a child I didn't even know what language it was in, but somehow the lyrics make sense even without understanding them.

Today's music is DOODOO!!! Everybody on the radio these days sounds the same, you can't even tell the difference between them. Alessia Cara or Halsey? Khalid or Post Malone? Every singer on the radio has the same voice and it all sucks. This generation of rap-inspired doodoo music with overused topics needs to die.

Metal and many of of its sub-genres are underrated. It's difficult to find another genre that requires the technical skill of metal musicians; let alone getting upwards of 5 talented people in your act coming together perfectly.

Music was something that just gave you a feeling of contentment. Not a whole lot of true talent now and seldom write their own music. Throw in a few profanities, screw someone and take someone out and you have a "song". There is still true talent out there but if they don't have that whore or gangsta persona it is not reaching the kids in today's society. What is with the frigging tattoos on the face? How stupid is this?

My weird opinion: electro can be pretty good. Mixed with industrial metal . . . Goodness! I don’t mean light dubstep. I honestly am not a fan of rap myself. Most of it that’s popular is just . . . *oof*. But to each their own!

All of the comments saying "X is overrated" are true - even the Beatles! I say this because there are so many bands out there just as (or, occasionally, nearly as) good that never "make it" and almost nobody ever hears about them. It's like Harry Potter - good books, 4-7 are great even, I loved the series. But why did they become so beloved when there are books out there just as good or better that never went mainstream? So yeah, the Beatles are great, Harry Potter is great, but they're still over-rated because 99% of bands and books are under-rated. :)

I can't stand Christina Aguilera's singing voice or Ariana Grande's...Christina does annoying a*s "runs" too much and I don't like her tone, and Ariana is too breathy and mumbles too much. I can never understand what she is saying.

I listen to black metal but because I have lots of tattoos (someone actually once said to me "you have your fingers tattooed, you clearly don't listen to 'nice' music") and wear mostly black, people assume I'm a music snob but as I'm writing this, I'm listening to Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys and before that I was listening to Bone Machine by Tom Waits. If I like it, I like it. I know a lot of people who only listen to one genre of music and refuse to listen to anything else; it takes the joy out of music completely.

An idea: Arctic monkeys are lowkey good and people should stop grouping arctic monkeys, the neighborhood and the 1975 together. Also, pop-punk deserves better(Listen to state champs, knuckle puck, real friends, all time low, etc if you never heard of any pop-punk, which is green day,blink-182 etc)

All of the people saying they don't like any current music, there are lots of artists that you might like if you don't just stick to mainstream. There are so many local/smaller artists out there. I didn't 'discover' music until in my mid 20s because all I heard was mainstream and I just tuned out (though I did like a bit of the 'golden oldies). Then I was living with my brother and he had a local station on all the time and it just clicked. I didn't dislike music, I just hadn't heard anything that was interesting.

The only thing more annoying than mainstream music and it’s fans are people who go out of their way to make a show of not liking it. Like, your bookish gamer nerd persona and the the music that goes with it is so trite that it might as well be mainstream too. Most of the comments here are just taking the contrarian position to the mainstream standard. No actual individual thought at all. They end up just being a different kind of mainstream. Not trying to be holier than thou, I just don’t know how else to put it.

I've been an Elton John fan for more than 40 years now, so none of these "unpopular" opinions are new to me, lol! In the mid-70s, this was a popular opinion. Now, not so much. And I spent WAY too much time arguing with a Swiftie on Twitter that Kate Bush was the far more talented of the two ladies, but she had no Grammys to show for it whereas Taylor has something like 10. In the end, it's all subjective anyway. Listen to whatever and whoever makes you happy, end of.

All religions have a tenet equivalent to treat others the way you want to be treated. That begins with respecting people's personal tastes. Whatever music you enjoy is what you enjoy. I don't need to think about it or comment on it.

Phil Collins blows. Kelly Rowland is better than Beyoncé. Just because you can make your lyrics rhyme doesn't make you a rapper. Auto-tune ruins every song it's used in. Playing sound effects to a rhythm is not music. Justin Timberlake did not improve when he went solo. One Direction were god-awful, and their solo stuff is as bad, or worse.

I once went to a birthday where I only really knew the birthday girl. I talked to some people about music, and told them I always switch radio stations when I hear either Coldplay or Ed Sheeran. No one wanted to talk to me after that. Talk about unpopular opinions. I was hoping at least one of these would be in this list... :P
