50 Photos Of Unique People That Show That Genetics Is Hard To Predict (New Pics)
Embracing yourself and coming to terms with your appearance can take years. But some people are born with genes that make them stand out even more than us regular folks. Because of this, getting through the day can be a lot harder. That's why it's so awesome to see those who aren't hiding and are confident in their skin.
So we at Bored Panda decided to expand on our earlier publications (this one and this one) and compile a new list of pictures posted by folks with unusual and rare body features. Like pear-shaped pupils. Or abnormally long arms. Despite the challenges these people face, they choose to live their lives with a positive attitude. And that's something to be celebrated.

My dear wife has an off center oval shaped iris in both eyes. Sees find with glasses and can drive. Not without problems though. She had a year of detached retina problems. Multiple surgeries and lots of trips to the doctor's office - even Christmas day that year to have the surgery results checked. Doing great these days but we never take it for granted. Modern science and medicine are amazing thing!
Genes are hereditary information units that organisms pass down to new generations. Genes contain coded information for the production of proteins that enable cells to function. An organism’s entire collection of genes is called its genome.
The human genome, for example, contains somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 genes. We resemble the people in our family because our genes are more similar to their genes than they are to those of strangers.
On the other hand, your genes are more similar to the genes of all other humans than they are to the genes of a different kind of organism, such as a rabbit. That being said, humans resemble chimpanzees because we share nearly 99 percent of the same genes.

I checked the stats and that is indeed what the hospital says, but apparently most people get surgery around 1 or 2 years old to remove one of the extra bits. So there are 26k people running around the country who may have once had thumbs like this! Cool.
Thanks! I was wondering about it, because one in a thousand seems pretty common but it's something that's actually seen very rarely
Load More Replies...Oh my goodness! My thumb was just like that as a child. At 11 one side was removed! I never ever saw anyone else with one❤️❤️❤️
1 in 1,000 make this a pretty normal thing, it's wonderful he shares it. I'd be your best friend
My toddler has an extra thumb! Not like this tho, it’s a little thumb on the outside of his regular thumb. It has a nail and has been growing along with him. When they did an x-ray they found a tiny finger bone but it wasn’t connected to the rest of his hand. He is having it removed later this month. I’m very conflicted about it 😕
My grandfather had an extra thumb which he had removed when he was a child. He kept it for years in a bottle, but when moving house my grandmother 'lost' it!

Don't know why you were downvoted for wishing a child well. Come on guys. Axenfeld Rieger *does*, in fact, cause other problems.

Humans are hardwired to find large eyes attractive so no worries momma
Heredity is a concept that humans have been aware of for thousands of years as we’ve cultivated crops and selectively bred animals.
However, the first formal genetic study was undertaken by a monk named Gregor Mendel in the middle of the 19th century—Mendel bred peas and noticed he could cross-pollinate them in certain ways to get green or yellow seeds.
Nowadays, the field of genetics is breaking new ground searching for new ways to treat disease or develop crops more resistant to insects or drought.

"As there is no known cure, few people with progeria exceed 13 years of age." "People with progeria have normal reproductive development, and there are known cases of women with progeria who delivered healthy offspring." ~~~~~~~~~~ To the last one: WTAF? Load More Replies...While genomes may differ greatly, the genes themselves are all built in the same way. A gene is a section of a long molecule called deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), or—in some viruses—a similar molecule called ribonucleic acid (RNA).
DNA and RNA are made of building blocks called nucleotides. Each nucleotide is constructed around one of the four different subunits, called bases. These bases are known as guanine, cytosine, adenine, and thymine (in RNA thymine is replaced with uracil).
A gene carries information in the sequence of its nucleotides, just as a sentence carries information in the sequence of its letters. Although most genes are made of DNA, the genes use RNA to make the proteins that are coded for in the DNA.

Genes are located on threadlike structures called chromosomes in the cell nucleus (a chromosome itself is a long molecule of DNA with proteins attached). Each cell of an organism carries at least one chromosome. Many organisms, including humans, have numerous chromosomes in their cells.
To make a protein from a gene in DNA, a cell first builds a strand of RNA that copies the information from the DNA molecule. This process is called the transcription of a gene.
I Had No Fingernails All My Life
I've seen this one before and wondered if it was photoshopped, so I looked into it and yes, there is a condition where you're born with partial or no fingernails. It's called Anonychia!
Really, I think it's possible to be born without almost anything; question is whether it's survivable (fingernails) or not (top of the skull, which is fatal at birth.)

I knew a girl when I was about 10 that didn't have toe nails. Cut to 20 years later and my daughter had had a fall and overreacting me, it was a cut lip, runs her straight to the hospital. After cleaning my daughter up the nurse says, you don't remember me do you, finally recognised her after my blind panic had eased and said oh my god it's you! Please tell me, did your toenails ever grow, she just looked at me while I slowly backed out of the room. Husband was deathly embarrassed and so was I. I am so sorry Hellena

I Have This Thing Called Raynaud’s Disease. This Happens Every Time I Get Cold
Same. They don't always go white though, sometimes bright red, sometimes with bright orange splotches, sometimes grey/blue.
I have this as well and it certainly is not fun in any sense of the word. It can be truly painful if you are not bundled up.
I have it too. Because I amvery pale it's just a slight change in color, but it hurts so bad.
I have that on my feet, but instead of cold it's hot and they turn tomato red on the soles.
Is it Raynaud's? I have Raynaud's and I never heard you could have it without being affected by the cold.
Load More Replies...I have it too. The part I dislike most is when it goes away and the digit (I have it in my toes as well) gets all red, hot, and tingling.
Same, same. It hurt, but it vanished around the time I was 25-ish.

The cell then uses the message in the RNA strand to build a protein molecule. This process is called the translation of a gene.
Only about one percent of our DNA is in protein-coding genes. The other 99 percent is noncoding DNA. Geneticists do not know the purpose of all this noncoding DNA, but they believe at least some of it is necessary for the proper functioning of cells, especially in controlling gene functions.

Same here. I always have to buy winter jackets two or three sizes bigger and long-sleeved shirts based on how the sleeves can be stretched. However, I also have long and narrow hands and fingers, as well as feet and toes. Buying shoes is really difficult.
For most people with average length arms, their arm span is roughly the same as their height. If your arm span is longer than your height, then you've got some long arms.
Load More Replies...This is why school dress codes that say shorts and skirts can't be shorter than fingertip length are c**p, because some people have longer arms!
Is that weird? Most people in my family have wingspans longer than their height
The average person has an arm span pretty close to their height. Your family is a bit of an outlier.
Load More Replies...Genetic disorders occur when a mutation (a harmful change to a gene, also known as a pathogenic variant) affects our genes or when we have the wrong amount of genetic material.
We receive half our genes from each biological parent and may inherit a gene mutation from one of them or both. Sometimes genes change due to issues within the DNA (mutations). This can raise our risk of having a genetic disorder. Some cause symptoms at birth, while others develop over time.

My daughter suffers with bowel issues because of EDS. A lot of people don't realise it's not just the external skin that stretches and flexes, but internal organs too 🙁

Dunno if it's the same guy, but someone with this condition had shaved his face, and his kids cried because they didn't recognize him. Said he would never shave again
This is supposedly where "Beauty and the Beast" came from; based on an aristocrat with this condition in Europe, and the woman pressured into marriage actually realized she loved him... (can't remember his name). It's cool as hell!
That just might be Wilfred the Hairy, a Catalunyan Count: (fr. Wikipedia: "Wilfred or Wifred, called the Hairy (in Catalan: Guifré el Pilós),[1] (died 11 August 897) was Count of Urgell (from 870), Cerdanya (from 870), Barcelona (from 878), Girona (from 878, as Wilfred II), Besalú (from 878) and Ausona (from 886) - The Gesta comitum barcinonensium reported that "...[h]e was hairy in places not normally so in men)" Leaves a lot to the imagination, but seeing this gentleman opens my mind a bit.

I have heard that there is a Mexican circus family with this condition
Genetic disorders can be:
- Chromosomal: This type affects the structures that hold your genes/DNA within each cell (chromosomes). With these conditions, people are missing or have duplicated chromosome material;
- Complex (multifactorial): These disorders stem from a combination of gene mutations and other factors. They include chemical exposure, diet, certain medications, and tobacco or alcohol use;
- Single-gene (monogenic): This group of conditions occurs from a single gene mutation.
Chimeras Are Organisms With Two Different Sets Of DNA. Human Chimerism Is Rare, But Its Characteristics Are: Two Distinct Red Blood Cell Lineages Or Skin Pigmentation
I have this on my tummy too. One sunburns and the other tans. Super cool to finally put a name to it.
It may be worth pursuing a test. One of the risk categories with chimerism is over or under active immune response including potentially having a sudden onset reaction to the other cells in your body.... also your doctor will be excited if it comes back positive, it's rare but she/he will have definitely heard of it but likely never encountered it.
Load More Replies...Interesting fact: While actual, full chimeras (fusion of cells from different zygotes into one single organism) are rare, every women is at least a bit of a chimera. This is because of the X-chromosomes - only one X-chromosome is needed to function, so in every cell one is inactivated. This happens at random; on average it's a 50/50 split between the chromosomes. So if a gene on one X-chromosome is defective, only half of the cells of a woman are usually affected - this can still result in issues, but is often not bad enough to be fatal. Another effect is the fur coloration of cats: the "red" gene is on the X-chromosome, so males, which have only one X, are either red or not. Females (and males with more than one X) , however, can be red mixed with other colors (it's a biiiit more complicated than that, fur color genetics are *complicated*, but that's the gist).
This is why most calicos are female but most orange cats are male.
Load More Replies...I read about a woman who had this and there was some issue where they tested her DNA and it didn't match her children? It was really sad but resolved eventually..
Yup. It was sheer hell because DCF & police got involved as possible fraud. She & her husband split & his paternity test for child support enforcement showed he was the father but she wasn't the mother. She had to give birth w/an observer who made sure the kid immediately had blood drawn for testing. It, too, didn't match. But the kids all matched with extended family & a PAP smear matched the kids while hair, skin, & cheek didn't. Her blastocyst absorbed her fraternal twin before the placenta had formed.
Load More Replies...I have this and it results in my being unable to donate blood and tetrachromia even though I'm male--apparently my retinas are built from my absorbed fraternal female twin's genes. No bilateral pigmentation or skeletal differences, though.

Two Cowlicks In Different Directions
Called a “double crown” - not all that uncommon (2/3 of my kids have them). Makes it hell to make their hair neat for school pictures!
I have that. When I joined the army they went nuts trying to make my hair look "normal". After boot camp I could wear my hair a bit longer and it solved the problem. I also have them in my beard on my neck. When I shave I have to shave in all directions.

I Have A Pear-Shaped Pupil
There is a condition known as “coloboma” which can cause this type of pupil irregularities. In the show “Vikings” there was a character, based on a real historical figure known as “Sigurd Snake-in-the-eye”. It has been hypothesised by historians that Sigurd had coloboma, giving him the snake-in-the-eye look and, hence, earning him his title.
Madelyn McCann, the little girl who went missing in Portugal during her family vacation, had coloboma.

I lived in a small village in Germany in the late 70's and our butcher had pupils that were nearly triangle shaped. The iris of his eyes was a very pale, clear green. It was scary for little kids but he was really nice once you got to know him.
I have a coloboma of the left eye. Mine is shaped like a keyhole, and I have extremely poor vision in that eye. My right eye's optic nerve is perpetually swollen because my left eye is 'defective'. I have little to no depth perception and when I turn my head to look behind me a curtain of black creeps across vision. If I look up too quickly, I get spots akin to sunspots swimming in my vision for several minutes. I am also partially color blind in the left eye, which is interesting because my right eye does not share the colorblindness.
There is often little we can do to prevent a genetic disorder. But genetic counseling and testing can help us learn more about our risks.
If you have a family history of a genetic disorder, you may wish to consider genetic counseling to see if testing is appropriate for you. Lab tests can typically show whether you have gene mutations responsible for that condition. In many cases, carrying the mutation does not always mean you’ll end up with it.
I Have Full Heterochromia
Wait, I thought that's sectoral or central heterochromia? That's just as beautiful and unique. Full heterochromia is when one eye is a completely different color than the other one...or different enough in shade that it might as well be. The outer ring of her corneas matches each other.

I apologize if this is a silly question, but how did they go about actually removing it? I imagine it was a painful recovery!
Load More Replies...My oldest grew an extra baby tooth! My husband also still has some of his baby teeth, as the adult ones never grew in! Meanwhile my mouth is so small that my bottom wisdom teeth never grew
I have this too! There’s a tooth just chillin in my jaw. Freaked me out on the x ray!
In the '90s, my uncle was a nurse at a mental institution where my younger brother lived (mentally r******d from an acquired brain injury). He noticed that patients would tap their faces when they had toothaches, and would notify the doctors. One of the loony patients had to be sedated for his dentist, and they decided to do a full mouth x-ray - where they discovered (and then removed) several teeth in the roof of his mouth, pressing up against important nerves. Over the next 6 months, the man regained his mental health, and was then sent to live with family, where he continued to improve. In the meantime, the medical staff x-rayed all the other patients, and removed all misplaced teeth. Over the next few years, a full third of the patients were considered recovered, and allowed to go back out into society. This prompted all mental institutions in Australia to check their patients - with similar results. It is now standard to check the dentistry of all patients.
Wow! That's fascinating! I wonder if residents of mental institutions in all countries are checked for rogue teeth, to ascertain if this could be causing their symptoms... There is so much we don't know about the workings of the human body, so much still to discover...

Her form was fairly mild and the doctor eventually did rudimentary plastic surgery to 'give' her a nose. I read up on a lot of the symptoms and most fit her to a degree (she's been gone for 15 years now though, sadly, she would have been fascinated to know what she had actually had a name!).
This little girl is BEAUTIFUL. I recently watched a show where they made snap on or magnetic noses for people with this and other diseases and injuries. You can not tell they are any different, when wearing them. Unfortunately, they are only cosmetic and not functional. I have no doubt this little girl will grow up to be a beautiful woman.
This is what happens when you pretend to steal a baby's nose, but you do it for real...
Here’s A Picture Of The Hand I Was Born With
Are you sure? I am no expert but according to Wikipedia: "Ectrodactyly, [...] involves the deficiency or absence of one or more central digits of the hand or foot [...] and may include only the thumb and one finger (usually either the little finger, ring finger, or a syndactyly of the two)" This looks like the thumb, index and middle finger. So a combination of Oligodactyly and Syndactyly (?, That is what my hand has been described as (I was born missing the right index finger and parts of my right pinkie with what remained fused to the ring finger))
Load More Replies...Are those the only fingers? Maybe OP's mother took Thalidomide? (I can't tell how old OP is.)

Interesting Iris Pattern (It Doesn’t Affect Vision)
This is called Persistent pupillary membrane (PPM): when the pupil is formed, stringy parts of the iris stay where they usually disappear. It usually doesn't cause any problems, because the brain corrects the images you see and sort of filters out the strings of iris. My daughter has this 'condition' in one eye. It's sort of star shaped so we call it "het sterretje in haar ogen" / the little star in her eyes.
Crazy how this doesn't affect vision. It looks like it would but maybe the brain learned how to filter it out

My Little Sister Was Born With Six Fingers
LOL...but seriously...aren't there a couple of songs that can only be played by 6 fingered folks? I thought I remember reading about it somewhere...
Load More Replies...My father, my grandfather, my great grandfather, my great-great grandfather, and my cousin all were born with an extra baby toe. Apparently this has actually gone back many generations. All in the male line. We haven't had one in our next generation yet, but it was the first question I asked when I had an ultrasound with my twins, which I knew were boys.
I was born with 6 fingers (2 thumbs) on my right hand. Turns out it was part of a genetic syndrome that also affected my heart. However, it was not correctly diagnosed until I passed out at work because my heart rate dropped to <20. I wound up with a pacemaker. I hope this child's doctors have investigated the possible causes for this! Mine was Holt-Oram Syndrome.
This is off topic, but is anyone else's comment box for this post outlined in red?
No, you might of clicked it but not typed anything, it does that sometimes
Load More Replies...I was born with 6 fingers on each hand. My dad and my little sister has it on one hand. And my mum's cousin has it on the other hand. So I think I inherited this from both familiy sides. BTW they remove the fingers after the birth, but I counted to 12 when other kids counted to 10. So my brain still knows there's something missing.
The DNA strand for six fingers is a dominant gene and the DNA strand for five fingers is recessive, crazy enough though, there aren’t more six fingered people walking around. But with it being a dominant gene, you’d think there would be.
I Had Identical Twin Girls, And One Ear On One Of The Baby Is An Elf Ear
I have one ear like that. My mom called it my elf ear, but my brothers called it my Vulcan ear. Mine seemed to be caused by an extra bit of skin at the top though, less the pointiness of the shape.
My eldest had a similar ear with the dent on the inside - doc at the time said she likely always held the ear as the cartridge was forming.
I wonder if this is one reason legends of changelings switching babies came to be.
My daughter had one too! It slowly disappeared by around her 2nd bday. Was kinda sad when I realized it was gone.

I never had this reaction to mosquito bites till I came upon Tiger Mosquitoes. (or until they came upon me).
My daughter has this too. When they get mosquito bites, they get huge welts and then it turns into bruises. Its also quite painful.
I have this. Only allergic to certain mosquitoes though, not all kinds. Never know if I will react or not. Ended up in hospital first time as I got bitten on my neck and I swelled up like a balloon. You know it if you have it as it usually has extreme swelling at the bite site very quickly.
Everyone is allergic to some degree, the people who aren't allergic don't react at all. Some people are more allergic to some mosquitos species than others, but ive never seen any reaction quite this bad, that really sucks. I would've thought they were burns
Same with poison ivy. My dad's brother told him to eat some, then he would never have to worry about it. Uncle was almost right as my dad darn near died, turns out the brother wasn't allergic

I Have Muscle Hypertrophy (Muscles Grow Big Without Exercise). I Got Botox In My Jaw Yesterday Because Of This
My daughter had such big muscles that she ended up needing to go to physical therapy as they were so tight she couldn’t stand up straight. The doctor said she had hypertrophy. She is perfectly normal, but built like a gymnast with cut muscles. She was 10 at the time. She is also the fastest girl I have ever seen.
I have mixed feelings about this one (and will hurry off to educate myself about this condition). Like, this looks normal to me? She could be a fit and healthy looking young woman leading an active lifestyle, as well? (The right pic could be me, petite female parcel delivery driver, 5'1'', 100pounds, 44yrs. I joke "I look like a WWF boxer champion, with all the ripping veins on my bumpy arms", after each pre-Christmas-craze.) I just don't understand the Botox bump on the cheek.
It can cause all muscles to grow in size, including facial muscles. Muscles in the jaw that are too pronounced can cause jaw pain and dental issues and Botox temporarily paralyzes them so they shrink and cause fewer issues.
Load More Replies...Muscle Hypertrophy is a serious medical concern, not only can it be debilitating with muscle pain, spasms and cramping, it also Carry’s a risk of stress fractures and connective tissue tears. Later stages a person can experience heart failure, as the heart is a muscle too.
Feel like this condition should be studied to benefits all us lazy people :-)
I was born with congetiital glaucoma and one of my eyes was blind and misformed. Other kids (and some adults) can be incredibly cruel - so much in life has too do with how you are treated by others entirely based upon how you look. "Normal" is such a subjective and loaded term, yet the world always seems very free to inform you (and others) when you are not "normal". Being just like all the other kids was always my fervent and unattainable desire. My heart goes out to all of these people whose conditions will never ever let them fit in to be considered"normal".- I hope that they are/were treated better than I was. And, no, you CAN NOT post my picture on the internet as a curiosity to entertain people when they are bored. Go find your entertainment elsewhere.
Other kids can certainly be cruel, but I also appreciate the people who took an opportunity to show the world a way that they are interesting and different while embracing it. I think it's helpful to people who feel othered to know that, actually, a lot of people have experienced "othering" and we have come through it to be proud of who we are. Obviously, I wouldn't want anyone to have a picture here if they weren't comfortable with it (I have some pretty mixed feelings about any of the pictures of children/minors here too).

Is that because of the condition, or just because of your personal tolerance to spice? I know folks without this who get choked up over a little bit of pepper...

I Have This Weird Gap Under My Tongue. I Didn’t Realize Not Many People Have This
I dont think the gap is weird, it s how large the bone sticks out that is weird
I have this too and never realized it was a thing until a dentist mentioned it a few years ago. It's extra bone growth. Getting dental x-rays where you had to bite down on the tab thing to hold the x-ray in place was always painful because it would cut into that extra part of my gums
My mom has those weird bones too, I have them a little bit.
I have it as well. It is called mandibular tory and it can be caused by stress clinching your jaw and or grinding your teeth. A lot of people that have it also have TMD. The boney ridge can continue to grow. There is a surgery to remove it.
Tori in the lower jaw is what causes this. Ask your dentist about them, some they remove. I can guarantee if you have to get lower dentures they will have to go

i have that too! it's called a singular palmar crease, or less flatteringly, a simian crease. it's hereditary, i have mine on my left hand & my father has it on his right. although i don't believe in palm reading, i looked it up in a palm reading book once for fun & it said "beware he with the single angry slash across his palm!" & something about us being strong-willed, opinionated, & resilient so don't make an enemy of us. i like the quote as a tattoo idea.
I have that too! Never noticed before. Love the quote too.
Load More Replies...I have the same lines on both hands! Palm reading is definitely not made for us lol. 😬
Fibular Polydactylism On My Right Foot. A Fully Functioning Extra Toe That Looks “Normal” To The Naked Eye
Don't mind me, just covering a mean comment *cue everybody looking at the comment*
It actually does! Fits quite well and naturally on their foot to be honest. If all humans were meant to have 6 toes, this is what our feet would look like I think :)

like thr other commenters I was worried about skin cancer w this person. checked the original reddit post. here's what it said: "No need to worry. I've already been to the doctor and no, it's not cancerous. Edit: He sent me to a specialist who then sent me to get a biopsy. That's how I know it's not cancerous. If you've got something similar, get it checked out. It's not likely to be cancer, but it's a stupid thing to gamble on."
My Wife And Kids Have A Birthmark On The Same Spot On Their Index Knuckle
My son and I have matching birthmarks on the middle fingers of our left hands. 😊
my family has some interesting hand similarities, but all on opposite hands. my father has a simian crease/singular palmar crease on his right hand, & i have one on my left. my younger sibling has a birthmark on the lowest part of their left palm, between the center & the thumb side of their hand. i have the same birthmark on my right hand. i don't know if either of my parents have the birthmark, i'll have to check!
On my right foot second toe I have a bigish mole and oldest daughter same foot third toe had the same mole. I think it's kinda cool😍
I swear I have a freckle in the exact same spot! freckle-63...8-jpeg.jpg
I Have The Linburg-Comstock Variant In My Right Hand: I Can’t Flex My Thumb Without My Index Finger Flexing Too. About One In Five People Are Like Me
I can't curl my pinkies without my ring fingers following along. Don't know if it's common or not.
Generally the ring finger gets "pulled" a little because of the way the hand is built, but it can usually be held straight, even if it gets yanked down a bit.
Load More Replies...I can bend all of my fingers without affecting any others. I didn't realize that was unique. LOL!
After years of checking to see if I have every non-obvious one of these- finally! It's subtle but I've spent the last few minutes bending my left thumb back and forth and yep my index finger follows
I've Had A Brown Fingernail My Whole Life. I've Never Come Across Anyone Else With One, And Doctors Have No Idea What Causes It
My Right Pinky Finger Has Only One Crease
I Have A 6th Toenail On My Left Foot, Also Known As An Accessory Nail
Both my feet have this on the pinky toe. My mom has it too. It sucks when it's long enough to catch on things and partially rip off, then regrows over time just to get ripped off again.
Omg yes totally xP never knew it's a actual thing tho
Load More Replies...I have this on my left pinky toe. It does not cause big problems, but it's thicker than rest of toenails, and it's pain to cut it short.
I've had this My whole life and never realized it was a thing. Just thought my pinkie nails tended to split. I feel educated now!
Due To Genetics, My Last Pinky Joint Is Pointing Inwards. Doctor Said Either I Stay Like This With Pain, Or He Breaks My Bones And Hopes I Have A Little Feeling Left After Healing
the pinkie of my right hand bends inwards at the top joint. it's straightened out a little over time. unfortunately i don't have any old pictures of it, but i think you can see it in this recent picture. although it was nowhere near as bad as the photo above, it really is a lot better now, & i don't know how it fixed itself! you can still see it's sort of crooked, though 20220902_004605.jpg
A couple of the men in my dad's family have this, but not as prominent as this person's.
Both my pinky fingers are like this, but I have never had pain from it.
My husband has pinkies like this, as does our daughter. Neither have ever experienced any pain. His pinky crook is quite pronounced, like the one in the picture.
My pinkies point out starting at the middle finger joint. It's more pronunced on my right hand, though.
On my maternal grandmother's side of the family a lot of people have little fingers that curl inwards towards the palm. My daughter and I have a far milder version where the little fingers are just a bit wonky. Years ago I went to a large family reunion and about 30% of my blood relatives had curled up little fingers. The younger generations didn't care but all the elderly people seemed embarrassed about it and kept their hands folded over so it wasn't obvious.
I And Some Members Of My Family Have This Genetic Mutation Called Clinodactyly, Our Pinky Fingers Are Bent Inward
WOAH! my right hand matches this person's right hand! although my clinodactyly has straightened out over time & is hard to capture in photos because of awkward shading & positioning (unlike this person's), the tip of my pinkie finger bends inwards & i have to same birthmark on my hand! cool! 20220902_005257.jpg

It's thanks to Bored Panda that today (at age 33), I realized I have Central Heterochromia. And I have green eyes, which is even rarer. Feels good ☺️
I figured out at age 49 that I have webbed toes. They're not super webbed but webbed nonetheless. I just never thought about it until someone said something.
Load More Replies...My physical weirdness is that I have hobbit feet. They're an EEE width. Also, one is an inch longer than the other. I often wish I lived before the industrial revolution so that I could easily get handmade shoes that fit.
OMG, I have every kind of large foot proportion; wide feet, high arches, long toes, and one foot longer than the other. I have bought shoe stretchers and made several types of my own. It takes several months (or up to a year) to gradually stretch a shoe to the size I need.
Load More Replies...I was born with a condition called craniosynostosis (premature fusion of the skull in utero). The specific type I have is trigonocephaly (premature fusion of the metopic (forehead) suture resulting in a triangular shaped skull. This scar goes all the way across the top of my head from ear to ear. Other symptoms include short stature and other bone deformities (follow up picture of my hand - both pinkies and index fingers are bent). I also have a lot of eye, ear, nose, and throat issues. 35 years old and just had my 29th surgery in January. IMG_202209...a04ab3.jpg
Ok apparently I absolutely love heterochromia! So pretty 😍
I was born without cartilage in the first joint of my left thumb. The two bones are fused together with the end part of my thumb at about a 45 degree angle.
🎶All of them are beautiful, in their own way🎶 When I was younger, I had a tooth growing out of the middle of the roof of my mouth. It's no longer there but, I wish it still was.
I was born with 2 extra ribs, bilateral cervical ribs. They can cause nerve issues and I just so happen to have nerve damage near them (unrelated) so they make that a little more annoying.
As someone with Vitiligo and seeing how many on here have it, I would like to see more people on TV with it exposed and not covered by make-up. We should be celebrating our differences and not be all trying to obtain 'perfection' which doesn't exist.
