This is a good idea for people with limited rooms but the kids need their own space.

You do realize a normal reception desk would have probably required more trees to be cut because of cutting scrap?

Even though some countries still do major harm by clearcutting forests, silviculture is science of growing and harvesting wood in economically, ecologically and socially sustainable ways. This is a nice picture how sawmills actually cut the logs so every part can be used for different kinds of planks and nothing goes to waste. Especially people living in areas that don't have lot of forests aren't always very familiar with how we get and use our natural resources, but everybody can educate themselves.

I wonder how much that cost They must have used lucite slats in between to hold it in place and allow the light to shine through. Very cool.

If I’d have to guess probably at least $10,000 if it done by an artist. That’s a huge table with a lot of glass/plexiglass around it.

The log is encased in glass so it won't get dirty. And glass cleaner is really not much work on or off. I can't see clean up being such an issue at all.

Not usually. Most lumber is plain-sawn (they simply slice the tree into slabs lengthwise. This tree has been quarter-sawn, which makes for stronger and more attractive lumber. It is usually reserved for fancy furniture or flooring.

It looks awesome, but I can't help thinking about the tree that obviously was very old, and cut down just to become a reception desk... And hopefully other furniture to, so the rest of the tree wasn't wasted.

I think it can be beautiful but it doesn't really fit with that interior, it would be amazing on some industrial interior of course...

A Möbius strip (or Moebius strip) is a surface with only one side. When you go along such a strip you will visit the entire strip surface including the portion that seems to be on the other side of the strip before returning to the starting point. Therefore, the structure of this chair is clearly not a Möbius strip because it has to surfaces.

I couldn't do floating stairs like this... every step I would feel the slight flex and it would freak me the heck out. Also, where's the hand rail? Hand rails are required.

2 things when you do 3D : think about shadows, and also make sure that the chain is attached at a plausible place to support the chair.

Wait, surely they are kidding about this being a “new” design. I think a lot of Uni students would beg to differ.
