My Growing Collection Of Hand Embroidered Pieces Inspired By Ocean Satellite Imagery
It’s Not Perfect. But Here’s My Hotwheels Collection Display For My Office
If that's "not perfect" what the hell does this person consider perfect?!
I was always a Matchbox type of kid, but I will have to argue that this is in fact perfect!
My OCD appreciates your colour coordination skills. Some of those old Volkswagen vans can fetch over $100K
Proud Of His Growing Stick Collection
Many people don’t get the hype of collecting items. For them, they’re just more things to dust off at home on chore day. But for people who find themselves hooked on the activity, it becomes a game that rarely has an end.
Of course, when it’s a series of cards you’re collecting, for instance, or a certain group of objects, it is possible to complete the collection. But if it’s something like rubber ducks, toys, or seashells that you’re holding on to, be ready to expand your dwelling as there might be no end in sight.
My Collection Of Antique Kodak Cameras Designed By Walter Dorwin Teague. 1920s And 1930s
I think it's because it will cost time and money to make beautiful things and the companies who makes them just want to have more things out on the market without having to spend more time and money than what is absolutely necessary. That's my theory. It's not really thought through or anything. But there it is.
Load More Replies...Omg these are amazing. I would love to have this collection in my house.
I've seen a lot of these cameras over the years, but never realized how extraordinary the camera body designs are until I saw them together like this. I wish I had one of those coral and pink ones!
It begins with cheap mass production - from T-Ford autos to air-flying and plastic utensils and toys produced in China or Thai-wan.
I’ve Been Collecting Swung Glass Vases For Years And I Finally Got A Light Strip For My Collection 🌈
They need a space of their own, without the painting, or other distractions.
The painting!!! Vases are collected with effort, but not for flowers, they cannot be properly washed and all are only for one type of flower.
Load More Replies...Terrific collection but yes, a low mirror would show off the vases more :)
Discussing why we tend to collect items—be it a series or an endless collection—neuroscientist and psychologist Daniel Krawczyk suggested that our brains are wired to collect things. In his TEDx Talk, the expert in neuroscience, an avid collector himself, pointed out that there’s a link between why we collect and value things and how the human brain functions.
Interestingly, humans are not the only species that tend to collect all sorts of items influenced by the bizarre wiring of our brain. According to the neuroscientist, other species, such as the pack rat or the mag pie, do, too!
My Element Collection! I've Been Collecting Pure Samples Of Each Element For 5 Years Now, And I Currently Have 44 Pure Elements. I Built This Table A Few Years Back To Display Them
Collect them all and you won't need the lights -- it will glow in the dark all by itself...mind you, so will you....
Yep, better leave that radium away from the collection, babe.

My Cool Collection Of Freshly Washed Dogs . Yes They Are All My Dogs
the look on that huskies face is priceless - mine give me a similar look.... cracks me up that they can fit so much attitude in one look.
I like that one dog who just keeps smiling no matter what happens.
In his talk, Krawczyk noted that when it comes to us humans, the first collectors were probably our hunter-gatherer ancestors. For them, it would have been critical to their survival, so they would collect and save food for a rainy day, or hold on to useful tools that were likely to come in handy later on.
“Collecting may have really saved our species in the past; it’s more than just a hobby,” the expert said.

Mom Worked At Mcdonalds For 4 Decades And Collected These Pins. She Was The Drive Through Lady!
They were for staff to wear during certain promotions etc
Load More Replies...I have a huge collection of pins that I found after my husband passed away. He was a veteran and worked at the VA hospital for over 30 years. Most of them I've never seen before, they're still in boxes, cases, plastic. Trying to figure out what to do with them.
Many are ones from the VA hospital, lots of veteran pins, Navy pins, pins for years of servic, and special events, some to recognize a particular job, several for giving "extra effort", and so many more! I need ideas!
Load More Replies..."I worked at McDonald's for 40 years and all I got were these Made in China pins."
Awe. Your mother sounds like a very hard worker. I hope they have and will continue to treat her with kindness and reward her for her loyalty.
Moving on to talk about collecting more as a hobby rather than a means of survival, Krawczyk suggested that there are numerous reasons to engage in this kind of leisurely activity.
Take art collectors, for example; the neuroscientist noted that part of art is communication between the artist and the viewer, so someone keeping a collection and showcasing it allows viewers to re-experience certain emotions when marveling at the collected items.
Collectables can also become a great business venture, especially with kids as the target audience. Whether it’s G.I. Joe figurines, Cabbage Patch dolls, or other items, children are known for wanting to collect them all. “Some of the most successful toy lines have capitalized on this idea – ‘If you have one, [...] there’s all these other ones, and wouldn’t it be great to get these?’” Krawczyk said in his talk.
My Collection Of Art Deco Cameras. Mostly Late 1920s To Late 1940s. These Range From “Common” To “Few Known To Exist”
I see a Kodak Bantam Special, second from left on the top shelf. Those are a real thing of beauty. A Rolleicord 1 would be a nice addition to this collection, too.
Load More Replies...I like that the collector even has some boxes that came with the camera(s).
I have a brownie box one..still works if you can find the film for it.

My Grandpa Gifted Me His Collection Of Elvis Records For My Birthday
Very nice! Here's mine, at least a part of it. ;) IMG_2781_k...161f7f.jpg
I'm jealous, I'm 74 and still love Elvis. Grew up with his music. So many of today's singers make a lot of noise and you can't follow the lyrics amid the screaming. You can follow and sing along with Elves
I can still hear that static as you put the needle down. Do DJs still use them?
I'm with you. Had some family members who loved Elvis so much that hearing him now makes me nauseous.
Load More Replies...Elvis Presley's last words before being cremated:" I'm ahunka burnin flesh!"
“Collecting can be purely an investment. We can take value to an extreme, like no other species,” Krawczyk continued, telling the story of how, back in 1991, Wayne Gretzky (former professional ice hockey player) and Bruce McNall (a former sports executive) purchased a Honus Wagner baseball card from 1909 for $451,000 USD.
At the time of Krawczyk’s TEDTalk in 2016, the card was valued at $2.8 million during its last trade. According to Yahoo! Finance, a copy of the card was sold for a record $6.6 million in 2021, only to beat that record and reach $7.25 million just one year later.
A Small Part Of My Grandpa's Garage Collection
I try to make my garage remind me of my grandfather's with all the wonderful vintage product packaging. Hopefully you find these as interesting as I do!
Oh, I love vintage packaging! I'm always looking for brands with nice packaging... and then buy the booring ones because yeah. But one day!! One day I'll get the pretty mustard.
Your grandpa has wonderful taste in things. Some of these could be worth a small fortune.
aTRIP back in time for me. For when our hardware store had a whole isle of things they had kept to sell but never did
I have a similar collection only kitchen and household packages, cans and boxes. :)
I repeat. 😎 LOVE!! Vintage product design/graphics are THE BEST. Thanks for posting! 👏🏼
My Indiana Glass Hen On Nest Collection
I love this !! I never knew they came in so many colors !! I've only ever seen like three LOL
I think everyone's grandma had one of those(everyone from my generation anyway, I'm 60+)
I had the light pink one. I used it as a nightstand vessel for my earrings, watches, etc. My f*cking b*tch of a sister stole it and I will never forgive her (along with many, MANY more reasons), but it was the last piece of my GreatGrandmother's wedding set.
Can Trixxie Share Her Collection
When my wife's dog receives a toy with a squeaker in it he immediately locates the squeaker, and then chews on the toy until he has removed or destroyed it. Apparently he doesn't like the squeaking.
Load More Replies...If you think that that particular Honus Wagner card was covered in gold dust or was special in some other way, you might be surprised to learn that it was far from the only collectible of its kind to be sold for millions of dollars decades after its production. According to CBC, a different Honus Wagner card was sold for $3.25 million, while a Mickey Mantle card from 1952 was sold for an astonishing $5.8 million, all of which goes to show that some collectibles can indeed become great investments over time.

It's not quite as old as those, but when my sister and I cleaned out our mother's house last week we found a can of Singer sewing machine oil, with the 30¢ price printed on the can along with the rest of the label.
Load More Replies...LOVE these!! Vintage product design/graphics are THE BEST. Thanks for posting! 👏🏼👏🏼
Where's the snake oil? I see wizard oil but no snake oil. It must be the unmarked one.
Yes it does. Old medicine and old medical instruments have always fascinated me.
My Collection Of Miniature Chairs
The interesting thing about this collection is that they had actually ordered full size chairs from Temu and this is what they received.
Nice! Maybe Barbie or Ken could be sitting cross-legged up in one of them!
All fun and games until the rocking chair falls, lands on the table, and rocks back and forth as if a possessive force was moving it...
If you’re thinking that your collection of porcelain dishes or toy figurines won’t bring you a fortune down the line, don’t be so sure; baseball cards, too, were once not much more than a piece of cardboard. But whether or not the monetary value increases over time, the sentimental value ought to, especially as the collection grows.
So, if you’ve already started a collection of some kind, keep up the good work—and if you’re still not sure if you should start collecting something, just look at the cool assortment on this list! Surely there is something that would be fun to have loads of, isn’t there?

This Board Game Collection I Discovered At My Friends House
An amateur collection, my brother has 2 rooms devoted to his board game collection (and a ridiculously understanding wife!). Guess what we end up doing every time we visit….
I Was Told This Sub Might Appreciate This Collection Of Mine
You can just buy this exact set off a website called Monofigs. They come at about 500$ for the base 36 pieces set, plus 70$ for each additional figurine. Apart that the price is INSANE, they declare to use original LEGO pieces but have colors that are not in the normal LEGO lineup, so it feels quite sketchy to me.
Found These Beautiful Boys Over The Span Of A Few Weeks. I Guess I Collect Ceramic Pies Now
Reminds me of a guy I knew. "Oh, you have a pig collection!" He looked at me, shook his head, "No, I had a couple of pigs from a holiday. The pigs were irrelevant. However, people *think* I have a pig collection, and keep giving me pigs."
Similar story about my mom. She collected flower "frogs", the spiky things you put in the bottom of a vase to hold the flowers in place. But people always got confused and would gift her the amphibian frogs instead. So now she has a frog collection of both kinds.
Load More Replies...I have a lovely cherry pie one left by my mum. They are really lovely things.
These Bank Notes I've Collected From Visiting Various Countries Over The Years
So we slowly scroll to look for one from our country (it's not there - Australia).
Compared to every thing else American money is so ugly! (I'm American so I'm allowed to say that, LOL)
The middle top one is 20 kronor from Sweden, has the author Astrid Lindgren on it. She wrote Pippi Longstockings for example and many many other loved books for kids.
That's cool, I love knowing the story behind who is chosen for banknotes. Mind you, I tend to forget a lot of them, I don't even remember all the Australian ones and that's my country :)
Load More Replies...What a brilliant idea - shame most of Europe is Euros now, but love the Greek one.
When visiting the €-using countries in the EU it would make mire sense to collect now the 1 & 2 € coins - as those can be linked to the countries (on top there are also lots of special mintigs of countrie specific sights/events). Adding to the fun, you as well might receive a Portuguese €-coin when being in Finland.
Load More Replies...Ah. This is what I was supposed to do with all my extra notes from traveling. Somehow I think mine end up in the trash.
I saw a photo of the old Australian 1 pound note on a currency exchange window once, found out you have to purchase at least $100CAN worth, I just wanted 1. But then chatting online with a friend in Australia, I found out that like us Canadians, they changed to a coin years ago.
Just Look At My Little Crochet Snake Collection
Great, this made me take several hour deep dive into crocheting with beads and now i have a new hobby to add to my collection of hobbies that i don't get round to.
There is a technique that combines crochet and beads to make items like this. It's both beading *and* crochet.
Load More Replies...Those would be beautiful necklaces and bracelets even an anklet. Might as well make some money with that hobby.
Here's Part Of My Collection Of Bricks And Books About Bricks!

My Dinosaur And Prehistoric Animal Collection
Does anyone else hear the theme to Jurrasic Park seeing this shelf unit?
and i see star wars in the closet there, too! the dinos are so good though, i can't imagine collecting dinosaur figures nowadays when they're still discovering dozens of new species every year it seems like.
Some Of My Vintage Glittery Pocketknives
Hey, you have no fishie! All little boys in my country have his own fishie, smal metal knife looking like fish.
Knives and glitter! These are a few of my favorite things! (Well, ok; 2 of them.)
I had a 1 inch red glitter pocket knife in my back pack that I forgot about when I took a flight. Security made me through it and my mini multitool away.
My Icon Collection So Far, Who Should I Do Next?
Top to bottom, left to right: Kurt Cobain, Elton John, Frida Kahlo, David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, and Prince.
Thought the last one was a Beatle circa Yellow Submarine LOL So my vote for who next is a Beatle. Not that they'll see this...
Load More Replies...I see Freddie Mercury, Amy Winehouse, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, and Frida Kahlo.
Thought This Fits Here. My Airline Sugar Packet Collection
I collected sugar packets when I was a teenager. Started on a school excursion to Melbourne. When I had too many to fit in my purse I got rid of them though.
I think airlines only give those out in First Class.
Load More Replies...My Antique Playing Card Collection
Very cool. I have a playing card collection with over 800 decks. The oldest is from from Piatnik from 1905, made in Austria. About a quarter of my collection is Bicycle Rider Back decks.
I have two decks of cards from the early 90s that were Amtrack promotional gifts for travelers. They are still the only decks of cards I use.
I have a Guiness promotional pack, and ones promoting the Narnia movies. I don't really use them anymore though. When I was a teenager and we went to my dad's every second weekend we played all sorts of card and board games. I live with him now, but he is either in his room or we are watching tv together.
Load More Replies...My Mostly Uranium Glass 1963 Split Window Corvette Collection
Do we know why some have a blue hue to them and why one is so much brighter than the rest?
The brightness is down to the amount of uranium in the glass, which can be anywhere from 1%-25% of the metal (the molten glass). The blue ones contain cobalt in varying amounts.
Load More Replies...Not at all. A 'unique' item is a one-off; these were mass-produced paperweights and there were many thousands of them.
Load More Replies...My dad used to race a '63 split window. It was Kelly green. Awesome collection.
Added Another To The Collection But Don’t Have Any Room
Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. Different Models, Vintage, Colors
Cool! I haven't seen the one with the clock before and I have 10 including. the multitool.
Needle-Felted Adventure Time
Adventure Time is an animated program that I used to watch on cartoon Network just guessing around 2010 give or take? You can look it up as to when it ran. One of the voice actors, a main character Jake the dog, was the same voice as Bender from Futurama, which always made me smile cuz I also like that program as well. It was a really wild show, very short episodes about 7 minutes long, about a post-apocalyptic world with talking animals, sentient donuts, wizard, vampire, a talking dog and his boy named Finn. (There was also an alternate dimension where most of the main characters had a opposite gender version of themselves) These are incredibly well done. They look just like the characters.

Hot Sauce Collection
My brother's boss collected these, and kept the overflow in the room where my brother had his desk. Everything was fine til the day there was an earthquake. The site had to be evacuated, and a toxic clean up was required, with guys in hazmat suits. Even so, my brother couldn't return to his office for several months.
Wouldn't last me a week of tocos and chilli's amongst my other hot sause covered thing
I Collect Other People’s Trash That I Find On The Beach. There Are A Couple Very Old Garbage Dumps (1800s & Early 1900s) That Were Built Right On The Water On Kauai So You Never Know What You’ll Stumble Upon
This is incredibly cool. (I found an exposed old garbage dump in Boulder, CO on the creek -- that's where my dish and bottle shards come from.)
I have a Very similar collection from when I lived on Oahu! It's honestly pretty interesting to see what's washed up.

A Box Of My 4-Leaf Clover Collection. In The Summer I Probably Find 10-20 A Day. It’s Like I Can’t Not See Them
Sorry but some of these look like okalis. A plant that is commonly mistaken for clover
I sort of fear four leaf clovers. When I was 10 we were having a family day out at a local forest and I found one. I was excited about it, showed it to mum and dad all happy about the good luck to come. Two days later my dad died. To me they became about bad luck. I don't want to ever see one again. Logically I know the two things - finding the thing and my daddy dying - were unrelated but the sort of fear thing never really went away so I avoid chance encounters.
my papa used to be able to find them easy too. I remember one summer all of my cousins and I wanted one so in the span of about 15 minutes he had found 10!
"A cloverplant that already has a clover with an abnormal number of leaflets has a higher chance of growing or having another abnormal clover than a cloverplant that doesn't have any." So finding one is exciting, but I think the excitement dissipates when you find successive ones at the same time.
Look through your gene pool, there is probably a leprechaun in there somewhere.
My daughter find them, many per day, up to 8-leaf clovers. As you said, it's like she CAN'T not see them! When my mom passed away, this "skill" turned on and hasn't turned off.
I find one about every other day! :) Never thought about storing them - maybe I should :)
I heard if you keep them in water they last longer, but I could be wrong. Anyone care to chime in??

All These Salt And Pepper Shakers That Were Left Behind From The Previous Owner
If you think about it.. Most collections of anything have had a previous owner at some point
The salt's never right. It pours out too fast. Or not enough. That's why this person needed so many. It was the hunt for the correct salt shaker.
I believe my dad's parents had a collection of salt and peppers shakers. They had them in a glass case with a wooden frame. I think they went to one of my cousins when my grandparents died.

I Finally Figured Out A Way To Store My Flags Without Them Getting Creased. Now I Can See Them All At Once And Easily Pick Which One I Want To Fly Each Day
Nope, but the collection is quite eclectic. There's a NATO flag, a California flag, apparently two German city state flags (Hamburg and Bremen), a pirate flag (or possibly football club FC St. Pauli) plus another one I looked up because I was curious. Apparently it's an old (pre 1994) flag of South Africa.

My Collection Of Feathers
I see a lot of owl feathers! I used to collect feathers as a kid and have feathers of over 50 different birds. My favourite ones are the macaw feathers. They’re usually one colour on the front and another colour at the back. (Check blue and yellow macaw feathers in Google images). Biggest feather I have in my collection is about 1.5 meters (59 inches) in length and belongs to an Argus pheasant (a tail feather). They’re all individually packed in plastic to prevent any damage and to keep out insects. I don’t collect anymore but if I find a pretty feather outside I can’t help but collect it!
Those big messy-looking ones in the back right-hand corner look like Emu feathers to me! To my eye, pretty much all of these are from Australian birds.
I recognise a lot of these; I'm pretty sure this person is Australian anyway.

I’ve got some rare coins and stamps, including some that are over a century old which older relatives have passed on to me so I guess my total collections are worth something. They’re all so mesmerizing to go through!
I also collect coins. Mainly from my travels. We always try to collect the full set of change if it's available. Now, with the Euro, I don't do it. Even though every country can print their own stuff on one side, I just don't think it's quite as cool as the old currencies were.

After class, I asked him to sign our textbook--which of course he'd authored. Pretty sure he still thinks I'm strange. Lol
