The internet is full of beautiful and amazing photographs, but do you ever stop and wonder just what went into that perfect shot? I'm not just talking about the digital manipulation side of the process, although there's certainly plenty of that involved. No, I'm talking about the physical hard work combined with the often super-creative approaches that photographers employ in order to ensure that their final shot is the very best it can be.
Take a look at these behind-the-scenes pictures to see what we mean. Compiled by Bored Panda, they're sure to give the budding photographer some fresh ideas while giving the rest of us an enlightening glimpse into the reality that hides behind many a perfect picture.

An observant person would have noticed that it's only raining on the leaf. But I do still love the effect!

I'd think she would still have to be some sort of gymnist to be able to balance (and hold) like that. Wowza!

Burning Lava
Yet it is listed as a lie. Don't know who's the idiot making this article but it's a fail.
Load More Replies...The photog admitted he photoshopped himself being on fire for drama. So this is a double photoshop. Lava that hot would be so hot one couldn't approach it let alone tolerate it.
yes, but the flip photo is also a lie - he added the flames in post... he got hounded for it.
In reality, if he was standing that close to a lava plow hot enough to light a tripod on fire, his skin would melt off. I've hiked out to this lava flow many times, and you can't stand within 5 feet of a flow without starting to feel intense burning on your skin.
its a realistic photo by nat geo not fake he is literally on the lava taking the picture so not a lie
Calling this one a lie is messed up, he's literally standing on molten rock
Bored Panda you're really bored..seriously you better change the title of this post as there is NO LIE in this particular photo and therefore you dishonour all photographers around the world.Sitting behing your laptop and making shit statements. I'll unlike thus page, is seriously crap.
It is a lie - the photographer added those flames around his feet and tripod. It's very misleading the way they've posted it.
Load More Replies...Quote: The photo is real, but the flames are not the result of spontaneous combustion. “The flames on the tripod and my shoes did not start because of the lava” Singson freely admits. “It’s like if you put your shoe in a hot frying pan, it will not catch fire right away”. Singson used an accelerant to start the flames then had his buddy snap the shot. The reason? “It’s just something I wanted for my Facebook cover photo”.
HE is almost as dedicated as Volcanologists...the highest turnover rate in science, but not from retirement
An actual legit pic that a photographer took risks to take... why is it on this list?
This is staged, the photographer has even admitted it. The flames have nothing to do with the fact he is taking a picture on hot terrain http://wafflesatnoon.com/burning-volcano-photographer/
Staged is not a lie. He really was standing on lava with his shoes and tripod on fire. Lie, I Do Not Think It Means What You (people) Think It Means.
Load More Replies...Another one that isn't trickery...it's *cool*, but it isn't trickery!
This is not a 'lie'. The saying is not "Liar Liar SHOES on Fire"; it's "Pants". This photograph only becomes a lie when the flames reach the photographer's pants. Stop making things up just to put them on your list.
How is this a lie?!? Is f***ing feet are on freaking fire...!!! he's maybe nuts but not a liar
Photoshop do a little research and you will find he even admitted it
Load More Replies...You have to wear fireproof shoes and antiheat leggings when you want to photograph anywhere near a recent volcanic eruption. It can take weeks for the lava to cool sufficiently. This may or may not be a genuine pic, but it certainly happens. Check out photography done on the Piton de Fournaise volcano in Reunion Island
lol no truth to this picture. This was a photoshopped picture. The flipped one. Boredpanda you are now just making stuff up because it's convenient for your article. at least do your research before you impulsively claim stuff.
You should take your own advice and do your research. It was staged, but it wasn't photoshopped.

I really don't understand why the title of this post is so negativistic. It's not a lie, it's actually ART.
THere's aren't lies but methods to take creative photos. The lie is in the modeling, post-production world that suggests models have "perfect" skin, hair, waist, legs, arms, chest, etc. While many techniques are about creative utility., there is still a heavy focus on Photoshopping the subject until they're not human anymore. When the production team want's you to believe it's reality, where as these are artists wanting you to dream with them and believe, while understanding it's not real. It's analogous to "psychics" & magicians.
I would call the photos of the aurora borealis and all the fake landscapes lies but still cool
Well but there are also real photos of Aurora borealis taken and the light is just as amazing in real life
I know, right. I agree with u too. So stupid how this person put a title show that photography are the biggest lie ever... so stupid. Everyone always want good pictures, maybe it just that person who wants ugly pictures 😂😂😂
This couldn't have been better said thank you for this comment

Many of these seem to have a photo and then a supposed photo of it's execution. Not convinced that the two are connected other than by concept. It's frustrating, many of these are interesting, but a bit false in order to gain clicks. :(
The techniques are really interesting, I think the problem is the name of the article, as a lot people already commented, they're not lies
Thank you Bored Panda! I found some really helpful tricks here! :)
I'll have a whole new perception of photos and a better understanding of how they might have been created, after seeing this post. Thank you Bored Panda!
These are really not lies at all, but of course they are really cool photos. They should name it, "15+ Pics That Show The Truth Behind Popular Photos" or something...
It shows that a hell of a lot of work and thought goes into one photo. Anybody who thinks that photos tell a 'truth' is an idiot, anyway. The framing and the choice of camera angle leave very little that is 'real'
Right! Photos are always subjective. They show the photographers reality or what he wants others to think it's real! Murales, Orgosolo, Sardegna. Difference between the photos 3 steps and 3 seconds DSCF6963_S...4c1b4d.jpg
