Parkland Students Are Trolling Their Mandatory Clear Backpacks By Carrying Things That Scare Conservatives The Most
Survivors of a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, returned from spring break to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and were greeted by new security measures. Among other new regulations, the school staff provided the students with the newest mandatory accessories: a transparent backpack. The administration claims that this regulation will boost safety, but the students hate it. One of the biggest issues for this backlash has a lot to do with the female reproductive system - tampons and other menstrual thingies became impossible to hide. Saying they are beginning to feel as if inside a jail, the teens have already come up with a solution that perfectly expresses both their solidarity for natural feminine stuff and rage against the current gun situation in the country. Only it might infuriate a few conservative minds.
Tampons. The students are filling the new backpacks with loads and loads of tampons. "I only got lights. I didn’t know. Getting supers for tomorrow," student Cameron Kasky tweeted. "Sizes, pricing... I'm learning new things about women's health right now. This stuff is expensive. Steps must be taken to make these health products easier to access."
However, Rachel Padnis, a 16-year-old sophomore at Majory Stone Douglas, has a slightly different opinion. "Personally, I think that clear backpacks aren't that big of a hassle. If it even makes one person at my school feel safer, I am willing to make that sacrifice," Rachel told Bored Panda.
"It's actually pretty funny to walk through the hallways and see all the jokes everyone has written on them," she said. "Although there are a whole bunch of complaints about them and I am feeling like my privacy has been taken away, I think they have brought a lot of real laughter back to my school which was missing for a while."
Padnis believes that people could still carry around weapons there if they wanted. "I see many students with lunchboxes in their backpacks that go unchecked as well as zipper pouches which seems to defeat the intended purpose and the police presence has gone down significantly." According to her, the issue is complex. "I feel like metal detectors or some kind of detector wand would be much more beneficial, but there’s also the fact that it would take a really long time for everyone to get scanned upon their entry to my school since there are about 3,200 students who go here."
What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivors returned from spring break to new security measures

Many students expressed their disappointment on social media but Cameron Kasky decided to take a different approach

And it spread like wildfire

This one should be way up. In one simple phrase this photo shows exactly how people feel about this whole problem.
I think medal detectors would serve a better purpose. And maybe if the school's would address BULLING there'd stop school shootings don't think it's an issue , you better think Again, guns are not going to slove s**t. Wonder who the master mind is BEHIND the issue they can't seem to slove, any cameras in the school? Probley not.
I hope you carry voter registration cards in all your clear backpacks and register your friends as soon as they are 18. Learn about our politicians and VOTE!
that is a great protest. the spirit of the 60s is still alive, and intelligence is too.now we need to stand up against bullies. well this is bulling to the worst. keep up the good work
Now if they were Kevlar backpacks they might actually do some good.
In the name of security you just lost your privacy. That is what this means. They should be regulating guns.
This is so stupid. What about outside on the school grounds and school buses. Even having mental detectors allow a bunch of students open for someone to shot them. They just dont get it just like a addict they will always find drugs to abuse and sickos will find ways to kill people. The only way to stop is to have stricter regulations and who can have a gun.
Another positive thing about this is it shows how incredibly smart and resourceful these kids are. They are really beating the complete s**t out of all of us stupid adults. My heart is absolutely bursting with pride and awe. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a really positive learning experience. Some men, young men, and boys can be freaked out by periods, even older men (men over 50). They seem to think that picking up a feminine product makes them less masculine. And, as a woman, I am very proud of Cameron for what he did. He's learning about women's health, and how expensive feminine products are. He's also learned, that because we are women, we have to pay a lot for those monthly needs. (For some of us that takes $ out of our food budget.) And he wasn't afraid to express his feelings on the matter by loading up his backpack with tampons. He's going to be the type of man who won't mind picking up feminine products for his future girlfriend(s) or wife. And maybe, if we're lucky, he'll go to college, learn about business and women's health and start a new company that sells affordable feminine products. The current companies will never lower the cost of their products because they know we have to buy them every month.
If men needed them, they’d be subsidized, and they’d name a Bowl game the Tampa Bowl.
Are girls not allowed to carry purses to school? That's a place to keep your personals if you're embarrassed.
or the girls in class will send him out if they need them. but seriously. you kids are doing good not like alot of them do by whining and crying if they have their phones taken etc.be strong rally around the flag and STICK IT TO THE MAN!!!
Cameron Kasky, dude just put your tampons in your pocket, you'll only need to carry them 1 week out of the month
Hope it's clear to you now how intelligent removing the 2nd amendment and take the guns from law abiding citizens would be too. As you've demonstrated, criminals will find a way around the law.
I would do the same thing. Metal detectors would be safer and easier.
I agree - to a point. Metal detectors are prohibitively expensive. The easy solution (already being done in many schools) is to reduce the entrances of the school to ONE. Then you can put in the metal detector. Once classes begin, entrance is only through a reinforced security door, which would be controlled by a clerk with whom you could communicate through bullet-proof glass.

It’s a joke, penny. I am a woman and a “child mother,” (also known as a Teenager with freaky motherly instincts heightened to the point of potential danger to oneself to protect a child and/or children under one’s care) and I do not take offense to this, nor does my mother, or her mother, or her mother.

OMG. That's hilarious. If you really want to throw them for a loop, add lube. 😂😂😂
I am a 47 year old woman and I was hoping one of you would do this! #sorrynotsorry this is funny. Yet in the same way very sad that all we are doing is supplying you all with clear backpacks.
If Lauren and her brother wanted the country to focus on REAL issues, they'd be going to D.C. demanding the government continually update NICS and enforce the laws already in existence, not to mention changing law enforcement policies re: 5150 holds and temporary confiscation of arms.
Yep, the NRA agenda is pretty clear. Protecting the rights of every American. They are one of the oldest civil rights group in the country.
Hogg that name now is synonymous with ignorance and vile smartass children
What’s in the clear backpack in the second picture? I know this is horrible but if it saves lives it’s worth using for a couple of years? Surely? In the U.K. it’s common place to have school branded bags. This is so the poorer ones who cannot afford the latest expensive brands don’t feel excluded.
What do they expect?????? They think that if guns are banned (made illegal) that they will be safe???? If guns are banned, then only the CRIMINALS will have guns!!!! Guns DON'T kill people!!!! PEOPLE kill people!!!! Get it right!!!! Protect yourself!!!! But a gun!!!!
Who the heck is on this site, and why the down vote for a true statement...???
Load More Replies...Funny. When kids compare one thing as to being like something else. And the thing they compare it to they really have no idea what its like. Schools like Prison! Need to check your facts because people in prison wish it was like a school because people get beaten, raped and even murder daily in prison plus the people in charge could give two shits about your rights or let alone your safty. So careful how you make comparisons.
Same. Well, most. Live in a kind of technological area.
Load More Replies...This one makes me sad. It's time for another march. The school tried, but they are going after the wrong people. Where are the new gun laws? These backpacks don't make it.!
No what scares conservatives the most is a Mentally ill registered Democrat with a gun.
Don't forget to post that big "Gun Free Zone" sign next to the entrances to alert the would-be bad guys that there is no way anyone in here can stop them.
Didn't this girl admit to making fun of the gunman? Why is she a hero now??? WTF
Schools need to be protected. The world is full of people who will do evil things. It can't be outlawed or legislated away. And I am a grandma with a gun. It has never gone anywhere and killed anyone. AND, I belong to the NRA as does the man (Stephen Willeford) who stopped the TX church shooter.
I'm just thinking of all those companies that make a tv show or mascot based packs for teens and primary schools suing the government for ruining their business model.
KEEP IT UP EMMA!!!! NEVER let them silence your voice, NEVER!!! I am so proud of you!! I look forward to seeing what you're going to do in the future. You got it, girl, make it count!!
This is CLEARly just a cosmetic change made in order to seem to be doing something. Instead of doing what so obviously is the only right way to go: One: Listen to these kids. Two: Implement their ideas.
exaclty, if people want to smuggle guns etc in, they aren't going to put them in plain sight, they'll find another way.
The most stupid people in this whole effort are the school administrators creating this farce. Fellow students that have reached the point they wish to kill themselves and kill everyone they can before doing it are NOT going to follow rules/laws/etc. They are SUICIDAL. To the point killing others MAKES SENSE. Let that sink in and think about how arguing about banning this thing or that is irrelevant.
Load More Replies...The idea of the backpacks was not given enough thought. I also believe that those who plan to bring guns, will find a way. Perhaps it will be the students who arrive at the best plan. !!!
Hey … at least it’s an ATTEMPT (and, in my opinion, not a bad one), to do SOMETHING about those who smuggle in illegal items! Work WITH the school, not AGAINST them(?) It’s one of the very first attempts to try to stop the flood of harmful items that students could smuggle into school! Every attempt will need “fine-tuning” …
I think another great idea would be to prevent the kids from smuggling guns in their pants by issuing out transparent pants. I mean, come on - it's the most OBVIOUS choice, right? ;-)
Load More Replies...Coming next, pants with transparent pockets. Or let's go all out, transparent pants.
Well said!!! What about that gun/knife/bomb they've got stuffed down their pants or in they're pockets??
Hmmmm. I'm thinking a better use of money would be a down payment on a metal detector, but what do I know.
Indeed! This false flag was a doozie. Local cops announced an exercise in the school that day with armored SWAT types using military style weapons and blank ammo, shooting up the place. Crisis actors used as "bodies" taken out on stretchers (only one photo provided the public), and a paid "child" spokesman "student" named Hogg to be paraded before America for over a month afterwards screaming about guns and how they must be eliminated from our society except for the police and military. Nice try! But we've seen this type scenario so often that we simply won't ever believe it's real ... never again. And, pray tell, where are the dead and wounded? No sign of them EVER. And yet the brainwashed children BELIEVE the crooked cops and the MSM and their teachers. Purpose? To disarm Americans so the destruction of our society can finally be achieved ... so much has already been done, and this is the last step.
420 means the month and day marijuana was legalized in the US state of Colorado
No, just no... 420 has been around longer than it has been legal in Colorado... I believe 420 comes for the criminal code for marijuana procession...

You are High School students your privacy isn't really being violated as much as you may think.
Minors dont have the same rights, especially in a public government building.
Having basic human rights violated so Trump and the Republicans can continue to suck the balls of the NRA for money is definitely wrong
Load More Replies...SMH. I'm so sorry we grown ups can't get it right for you. Stay safe.
Ummm... America. Where most of you go mental if anyone mentions not having gun. 2nd amendment, blah blah blah. If people can say they shouldn’t follow rules written 2000 years ago in the bible, what makes the amendments any different? Please remember the difference in technology and what guns were primarily used for (hunting, keeping bears away, etc.) Even changing it so you can keep a gun inside your house but you have strict licensing laws with regards for who can use one outside for hunting, would be a massive improvement. Sorry if I’ve offended anyone. Just hate seeing young people unnecessarily killed.
let's change everything except what actually needs to change... great idea...
Red flag we got some Altoids here! stop the school, bring in the police forces, bring the world we have a kid that likes fresh breath!!! I love it, keep it up Parkland students, you're winning.
At $1.05 each, not made in America I'm guessing. But the govt will forget about encouraging US industry if the alternative is looking at their gun laws I guess.
I think the tag isn't the price of the bag. If I'm correct, it was the amount of money given to Trump from the NRA divided by the number of students killed in school-shootings, so it would be the "price" the NRA tagged on the life of one kid.
Load More Replies...Yes lets blame the guns instead of the multiple failures from law enforcement and enforcement of current gun laws. When someone runs over a few people, lets start blaming the vehicle manufacturers.
Vehicle manufacturers are to blame for both the suburban sprawl that financially ruins North America, the lack of public transportation and walkable neighbourhoods forcing unfit people to drive, bigger cars killing more people and terrible street design to name a few
Load More Replies...The shooter at the Washington Navy Yards did just that. But he was never going to be searched, so he could have stuck the weapon down his pants and nobody would have known. Welcome to crazy town.
Some 12-yo shot some 15-yos on February 1st in Westlake, LA. Claimed she thought it was a toy gun and it went off when she dropped the bag.
Maine they're paranoid about a smaller weapon becoming a new thing? Is possible. But the AR-15 is to big and suspicious to fit in a backpack. And I bet it feels to the students like all are polished for the actions of one.
The reason RaY1 was downvoted is the AR-15 is the devil gun you hear about on the news. Most of the people that are against guns, know nothing about guns. The AR-15 is no worse than any other semi auto rifle, but its black plastic and looks tactical and scary. If it's any consolation, RaY1, I upvoted your comment bc it is correct.
Yes, but you just have to roll the gun into a scarf or put it between two books and voila - invisible. You'd still have to search the bags to make it 100% safe, but if you do that anyway... why spend the money on the clear packs?
Load More Replies...Very sad that you kids are acting more like grown ups than the adults that are supposed to be protecting you. Stay strong. We'll get it right eventually.
May I suggest sending your old backpacks to students that don't have them.

i think this is funny but at the same time i really hope they used the tampons or gave them to someone who actually needs them...
Good choice. These will help plug the holes from bullet wounds to help stop the bleeding.
I really laugh at that even though it's so stupid lol

while hypothetically humorous, some schools (like mine) have rules that say that if you have something that isn't drugs but you pretend it is, you'll get the same consequences as actually having them.
Load More Replies...LMAO. Stay strong. Hopefully the adults will figure this all out before someone else gets hurt.
One would have to assume they are cunningly disguised, inflatable, bullet-proof emergency tents. For the horrendous price of $1.05 I would expect no less, really.
Clarification: The $1.05 price tag is to represent what the NRA gave Marco Rubio. Broken down by a Florida per child basis, the cost of their lives is $1.05. It isn't the cost of the backpacks, it's what they are worth to their Senator. www.google.com/amp/miami.cbslocal.com/2018/03/24/students-price-tags-marco-

I realize I'm saying this in the worst venue ever (the internet) but....until we stop blaming each other and start working together as humans, this kind of thing is going to continue to happen. Make stricter gun laws, people are just going to go out and get them illegally. Ban guns altogether, people will build bombs. We, as a society have basically devalued human life to the point where no matter what we do people are always going to figure out how to hurt others FOR NO GOD DAMN REASON! We need to stop being d***s to one slither and start actually living together and accepting each other. That's NEVER going to happen but maybe one day we will wake up and realize that if we don't stop this we're doomed as a species
