This is what my dentist said: If you brush immediately after eating (or drinking) something acidic, you might damage your softened enamel by brushing. So if you brush after eating you should wait at least 10-15 min before brushing, so your enamel has had time to harden up again.

Yup, that's what my dentist told me, exactly. Also, he told me it's not so much your teeth you have to brush, but you need to massage your gums as well, since the health of your gums has a direct impact on your teeth.

My dentist said after breakfast and coffee/tea/juice, rinse with water, wait like ten minutes then brush, floss, mouthwash, rinse, then do not eat/drink for 30 mins.

I used to brush after breakfast, but now I eat a couple to a few hours after I wake up. It makes my stomach upset if I eat too soon after waking. I don't notice the toothpaste interfering with the food and I don't get the fuzzies and staleness in my mouth in the way of enjoying my food.

You need to wait 20-30 minutes after you eat to brush, same goes for waiting to eat after you brush. Who can stomach eating food the second they wake up in the morning? I can't, which is why brushing/flossing is the first thing I do in the morning. By the time I'm leaving for work my teeth are ready to handle breakfast (for me, breakfast=coffee).
