There’s always something we don’t like. I can’t stand the taste of beetroots, while my best friend is basically allergic to licorice. Food is just one category where people often express their dislikes, but we see the same bursts of loathing anywhere from the animal kingdom to leisure activities. A relative of mine couldn’t stand stepping into a boat, or rather even the thought of it.
But when you stop and think about the things humans address their hate towards, you start wondering about the reasons why. Maybe we’re simply scared of the unknown (yes, tarantulas, we’re speaking of you!) or maybe it’s our past experiences that haunt us to this day.
In any case, today is the perfect time to step back and reflect on these things. Thanks to these two thought-provoking Reddit threads (here and here) where people listed all the things that don’t deserve the hate they get, we have a lot to uncover!

Feminism. It doesn’t mean that women are better than men, it means women are *equal* to men. And because I believe everyone should be equal, I am proud to say I am a feminist
Yasss! EquALLity Edit: Omg thank you guys for all the upvotes
Homeless people. It doesnt matter how they lost their home, it doesnt matter if they suffer from an addiction, it doesnt matter if they have a job or not. People have unspoken challenges that you dont know about, and they may have never happened to you, and its none of your damn business why theyre homeless. Housing should be considered a human right, and the fact this is still up for debate bothers me. I've seen how small bachelor pads can get, people really dont need much to survive.
Also, people act as if housing being a human right somehow infringes on their ability to buy property, when it doesnt. It just means those that are less fortunate literally just *CANT* be homeless and would be accommodated with the basics for human survival like running water, power, insolated walls and a bed. The fact that housing has been treated as profitable to exploit the lower class, is the reason we have homeless people. Not because of your pre-conceived idea of their life you know nothing about.
I'm currently homeless and it was because my landlord sold the house without telling us til a week before we had to move out. I have a special needs son and on a fixed income so I haven't been to find anything.
Everything teenage girls like. They get hate for liking girly stuff, they get hate for being 'not like other girls', they get hate for being 'fake-geeks', they get hate for liking edgy stuff.
Just let teenage girls like stuff.
Cats! They’re constantly vilified but if treated right they’re lovely companions. Cats aren’t “a**holes”.
People turning down alcohol
YAAS!!!! i am an old fart of 64. i stopped drinking alcohol when i was 25. it was a choice. ever since then i have been treated strange when i refuse a drink. i don't like being cajoled to drinking as it will eventually p**s me off. and, no, i am not in recovery. i just don't drink.
People don't deserve hate they give themselves when they are not doing too good at the moment.
Actors who played characters that people didn’t like.
This role weighed very heavy on this young man. He has had to get out of acting for a while to get over the hate he received for the great job he did of making us believe how awful he was.
here’s a big two:
any animals that are seen as automatically evil or bad. some example would be wolves, black cats, sharks, snakes, etc. these same thoughts cause those animals and more to be harmed and hunted simply for the belief that they are bad/bring bad omen. it’s sad to see.
sleeping with stuffed animals. listen, i’m not scared to say that i happily cuddle to sleep with my stuffed bbs. they make me feel safe and secure, and that’s something i’ll probably never grow out of.
Fast food worker’s... they ain’t machines. They are just trying to get through the day like everyone else!. Keep it up y’all
Opossums. They're neat little critters. They eat tons of ticks that carry Lyme disease, (mostly) don't carry rabies because their body temp is too low, and they're the only marsupial native to North America! They get a bad rap because their first defense is to hiss and bare teeth, but failing that, they just play dead.
If you don't have the predisposition to hate them, you'll find they're pretty cute too.
E: this is about /opossums/, the north American species.
Kiwis, I feel for you, but this comment isn't about your possums.
Math.
It's significant for human evolution and society as a whole.
The thing about Math is it's not easy to teach. Very few students have a natural aptitude for Math. If you have a good teacher everything gets easier. I'm not a fan of Math but it's essential. Right now I'm a Biotech student and still using Math so no way to escape
Child cartoons. Some are actually really good, even as an adult.
Swear words. Not to be confused with slurs.
Swears are fine and a great way to express yourself at times.
Well, some websites clearly don't f*****g agree with THAT. For f**k's sake.
Spiders. They're one of the backbones of the earth's ecosystem because they prey on so many pests, but people hate them because they're creepy-looking and occasionally dangerous if provoked.
Lady Gaga. She is a very talented vocalist and pianist. People act like she is the worst musician in the history of the world and hate on her so much because she uses clothing as part of her performances.
Something similar happens to Anitta, people always focuses on the clothes she's wearing (or not), or the fact that her song that became number one wasn't in Portuguese. While forgetting all the good she did representing Brazilians worldwide and also being one of the few to break out of there.
Wolves they are always the villian of the story but in real life they are scared of humans and they have every right. Just a few weeks ago a lot people killed a lot of wolves because its "wolf season" or something that of sorts. These creatures are very misunderstood and yeah they are big and can kill a human but it won't unless its hunrgy or threated. A long time ago, there was a wolf hunt in europe killing a lot of wolves. They are beautiful creatures, strong, fast, loyal to their pack, and very protective of their pack.
People who don’t drive (in the US)
I am still learning to drive at 22 because of anxiety and I can’t count the amount of times people gave me s**t for it.
I'm 41. Had my licence before I turned 19. Have not driven once since. I realised early on that I'm extremely sh@@ at it. I can do lots of things but driving is not one of them. It's not about lack of practice. It's about lack of abilities needed for this. I know myself. I know it would be dangerous to me and others for me to drive, so I do the responsible thing and I don't. And I get so much sh@@ for it. Like there's no way I can know myself better than this stranger who met me 5 minutes ago and can absolutely tell that I just need practice because that's how it worked for them.
Veganism.
Seriously, it's just people trying not to hurt animals.
I'm fine with it, I just don't like it when they act like I'm Satan because I don't share their view.
Or they HAVE to bring it up every 5 seconds and be super arrogant about it. Its like, "chill out, dude."
Load More Replies...Also, don't lecture me on why i should also be vegan, unless i ask you for more info about it. I understand that a life is taken to provide the meat, and i give my own thanks to the animal which provided it.
A life is taken to provide vegetables and basically any food: Plants are living things!
Load More Replies...It's the 1% ruining it for anyone else. No matter what someone ate for lunch, most people don't want a 10 minute description of it. In everyday life, I have more people corner me to tell me how great the quinoa was this afternoon than people who want to explain Virginia ham is better than Black Forest.
It's the "missionary vegans" that give this a bad name. Unfortunately almost all of them are of the missionary kind (my brother is one so I know what I'm talking about). There's this old joke: How do you identify vegans? You don't - but they will tell you.
This absolutely works in reverse too. When I was vegan, I'd have meat eaters constantly, and I mean constantly, make incredulous, snarky comments about my diet all the time. And no, I never offered up the fact I was vegan, nor lectured anyone else about their choices.
Load More Replies...Militant vegans - I like the word, perfect description
Load More Replies...Be a vegan. Don’t be a vegan. Do whatever you wanna do, just don’t force it on me or tell me I have to be either one
For me it has been the opposite of what others write here. When I still ate meat, not a single vegan or vegetarian bugged me and I usually had to guess that they were vegan. But since I am vegan, people want to talk about food with me *all the time* and I don't bring the topic up myself because I just want to be left alone with my choices. So many people have asked me why (health reasons are apparently way more acceptable than doing it for the animals or the environment), told me it's unhealthy (it's not if you inform yourself about nutrition, which you also should do if you eat meat) and explain to me what kind of meat they eat (I don't care). Also, how many vegans commented on this post compared to those who apparently feel compelled to tell everyone here that they are not vegan?
Strong agreement with your last sentence. I'm notna vegan, but whereas I've never heard a vegan aggressively lecture me or try to assume moral superiority I heard lots of meat eaters complain about veganism and/or vegans.
Load More Replies...I've found anti-vegan meat eaters to be way more obnoxious than vegans themselves.
Thank for saying this, this has been my experience as a vegetarian for many years.
Load More Replies...I have no problem with veganism itself. It's the fanatical vegans who are on a crusade to convert everybody else that bother me. Just like I don't have a problem with Christianity itself, but get annoyed by the bible-thumping evangelicals who get in my face to tell he how to think and act lest I go to Hell.
It's not veganism people hate, but the vigilante stance sometimes taken
Chef here. If you are a Vegan then don't expect or even demand Tofu when it's clear you are at a STEAK restaurant, the menu is CLEARLY posted, substitution's are not always possible. Nor is there any reason to take your anger out on my wait staff. No, we don't have separate utensils to prepare as vegan meal. GO. Eat. Somewhere. Else. That. Suits. Your. Dietary. Choices..
As a vegan, I second that. Also, unless you know the menu or go to a vegan restaurant, a phone call at least one day before can be helpful. So the kitchen can shop accordingly if needed.
Load More Replies...I have been a vegetarian for 40 years, and I could not believe the hostility we received from people. It was as if our choice..which was about ethics, not health...inflamed other people. We never tried to push our views on anyone, we were just living the life we felt was right for us, but we would hear things like:"It only has a little meat in it."...or..."But your shoes are leather'!" I guess some people are just insecure about their life choices and cannot accept people who make other choices.
It's okay if you're a vegan by choice, it's not okay if you're forcing kids and animals to be a vegans.
Especially those chuckleheads who try to feed their cat (an obligate carnivore) a vegan diet and then wonder why Mittens just doesn't seem to be very peppy anymore.
Load More Replies...My issue with vegans is that often theyre some of the most entitled self righteous people ive ever met, and feel they have the right to lecture people. But even that might be fine if it wasnt for the fact that most of them ive met know absolutely NOTHING about the animals they dont wanna hurt. They have this weird idealistic idea of what nature is like that is completely wrong, generally city people who have never even been on a farm and have no idea how brutal nature is. Moral outrage is a privelidge of the wealthy, just like how its all the rage to wear ripped jean and buy furniture with peeling paint because they've never been in and can never imagine a situation where ripped clothes is genuinely all you have. You talk to people who raise livestock themselves and i guarantee you will see that they love the animals they raise and work their asses off to keep happy a thousand times more that someone on the internet who gets offended and wouldn't set foot in a barn because their shoes might get dirty. This is true even of animals raised for slaughter. Ive seen farmers cry over stillborns that would have been raised for meat, and trust me its not because loss of revenue. If you spend time in these places, you will quickly find that life is really not that clear cut, you might still be vegan after but i doubt you will still be able to prosecute others with such confidence.
I have lived on a farm my entire life and I assure you that if babies were stillborn or we had to put them down it wasn’t a good day and everyone was upset. Lack of revenue never factored in, it was the fact that we had to kill an animal or watch it be born dead that tore everyone up. The sheep did eventually get killed, I won’t lie about that, but we never mistreated them or were just upset about the money aspect when they died of things we couldn’t control. Being a farmer was all about respecting the animals and caring for them while they were alive. This is just my experience though.
Load More Replies...Just like every group, you get those that feel superior, and those who let you do you and they do them. I do not respect those who act all superior and try to enforce their way onto others.
Don't dislike vegans at all. I couldn't do it myself tbh but I only dislike vegans who look down to others wo aren't. But that goes for basically everything. You do you but don't look down on others who don't do the same 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, but some of them can be a little extreme. Like the ones who force vegan diets on their cats.
Forcing an obligate carnivore to not have any meat is animal cruelty ... which is something which I'm sure the vast majority of vegans would agree.
Load More Replies...Around a bunch of them here in Vermont, no one has ever treated me poorly over my choice in protein. I see it on social media but not in real life
This is very similar to the religious post a few posts back. It's always the loud few that ruin it for everyone.
So you loath toxic people ... fair enough, but there are many (I'd suggest the vast majority) vegans who are not toxic, and equally a great number of toxic people who are not vegans.
Load More Replies...and i just really like vegetables 😅 i dont tell everyone else to be vegan too i get not everyone likes broccoli as much as i do
I gotta give it up for vegans. I tried it and it was tough to find things I liked, or didn't contain animal byproducts.
People don't like vegans not so much for them being vegan as for them being preachy about it.
The problem is caused by those who want to force their ideas on you. It's okay if you're vegan but don't treat other people like the villains of the story, let everyone eat what they want!
veganism is amazing and a wonderful lifestyle which i have so much respect for. the only thing to dislike about it is certain vegans (cough that vegan teacher cough) trying to force people to become vegan. it's not for everybody but you do you!
I'm fine with vegans (my sister is vegan, some vegan food is also delicious), except for the mental nutjob vegans that try to push it down everyone elses throats. (looking at the infamous Ms Vegan (ex) teacher lmao )
It's not veganism. It's evangelical veganism. It's the Sheldon Coopers of veganism who make everyone else feel bad about themselves.
No. It's toxic people who coincidentally are vegans. They use veganism as a tool to attack others, and they'd just as much use something else.
Load More Replies...Problem is that veganism is overwhelmingly represented and presented to the greater world by the unnecessarily militantly vocal vegans.
Problem is you assume toxic people who use veganism as a tool to attack others are representative of all vegans .. when they're not.
Load More Replies...I'm not sure it's entirely the best for our digestive systems, but morally, it seems a good idea.
It's way better for digestion actually. Look at the intestines of carnivores vs those of humans.
Load More Replies...They aren't as bad as reformed smokers. Which I am. I find it desperately hard not to preach. But a wise friend asked me, "it's all over the news, everyone knows it's bad for you, so do you think you're going to change someone who is spending 10-15 US dollars a day to keep doing a bad thing?" Same here. And I am not a vegan of any order. But I admire those who can. I even once proved to my husband that I could cook something with tofu that he would like. I did. Firm tofu tossed with a little smoke flavor as it cooks, ( cooks being a strong word) and proceeded to stir fry onions and garlic and half the garden, and served it over rice. I only asked him that I have a month to serve it in with regular meals so that he wouldn't know it was no meat. He loved it. No I didn't use butter. I used canola.
Or because of the vegans who do this rather than the many more who don't.
Load More Replies...I never jugded people who are vegan, like my friend who decided that she will be vegan. she always make jab comment when I decided to eat meat. give me side eye. and then proceed to tell my how it bad for my body blablablabla. shut up b***h, I'm just eating choice of meal
Vegans are like Christians, for some reason they are always trying to convert you. It’s unnecessary. Just do you and let others be.
Not all vegans are like that, let's not generalize.
Load More Replies...Problem is - they absolutely are hurting animals, just not the high profile ones normally eaten. There are small animals, rodents, insects, honeybees, and more living in all of those fields cleared to grow crops. Well, once the field is cleared, they're not living anymore. Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against vegans; you do you. But don't delude yourself into thinking that you are being virtuous by not killing cows or chickens.
Veganism is good. It's the holier than thou vegans that give it a bad name that are the problem. (Looking at you "Suzy the observer")
Lol its vegans who hate on others and try to shame others. Don't need to announce what you est and your diet is not an identity. Anyone can eat or not eat whatever they like...don't shame anyone or don't cry if you get some back.
I'd hold a giant BBQ outside TVGT's house just to p**s her off, but I respect non-militant vegans, i.e. they don't force their view on you
actually vegan food is incredibly draining on land and causes thousands of animals to be killed to grow unsustainable and water intensive food
Um... that's animal agriculture, by feeding the livestock animals the food we could directly eat ourselves. Of course that's not true in all regions, where vegetable farming is not as easy or efficient.
Load More Replies...When I became vegetarian in the early 90s I was treated like a freak. It was highly unusual where I came from back then and folk just couldn’t get their heads round it. Some people just don’t like difference.
We were having an office party and a vegan/vegetarian colleague counted out loud the number of chicken wings to work out the number of chickens that had been sacrificed for our enjoyment. I mean, just let us enjoy our food!
I will support veganism when they leave Henry Winkler alone for catching and releasing trout.
Except when it's overpriced and constantly shoved into your face by vegans. You can choose not to consume animal products, likewise, I can choose to consume them. You do you and let me do me and don't shove your beliefs in others peoples faces.
'constantly shoved into your face by vegans' I very strongly suspect you are significantly misrepresenting your experience.
Load More Replies...I'm not a vegan, but I use ALOT of their recipes due to mine and my husband's food intolerances and allergies. I'm forever grateful that there are so many great vegan recipes out there so we can still eat a variety of dishes. I do still eat meat, I just consume a lot less. If it weren't for vegans, I wouldn't be able to purchase make up either.
I hate American vegan food. We could be eating curry and fermented soy but no we have gross meat substitutes and unfermented soy that is high in estrogen and messing with people's hormone balance. You do you but please do it safely, I worry about you.
So why not eat curry (which by the way isn't by definition vegan) or fermented soy?
Load More Replies...I don't think it's veganism people have a problem with but more the militant vegans that go out their way to shove it down people's throats. Dietary choice is a personal matter much like religion.
I don't have a problem with these people until they try to force me to be one like it a religion. An also sometimes some of these people hurt there kids because they want them to be vegan when it been proven that is harmful kids need meat and calcium. To grow strong and healthy. An another thing they lie about what they eat sometimes.
As with anything that I take the opposite side, I am cool with you if you don't shove your views down my throat. I enjoy eating meat. However, I won't eat it in front of a vegan friend out of respect. But if I am at a restaurant with my meat loving friends and 2 tables over complains and starts naming my steak and throws pamphlets at me because they are vegans, don't be surprised if I send over an appetizer that has meat in it as payback.
Yes but there's some awaken dudes who walk around like they where the messiah
Yeah and if only they could keep that knowledge to themselves. That and their cross-fit classes.
And why would they keep it to themselves? Nothing wrong with sharing it with people, unless you're pushy.
Load More Replies...Vegan "jokes" so played out, like go make American great again someplace else
I'm actually going to a vegan restaurant today and I'm not looking forward to it. Last time I went there I had mac and cheese, but it was more like mac and stale cheese. Vegans, You need to find a new way to make meat and cheese and s**t
No. Humans are perfectly able to have long, healthy lives without consuming meat.
Load More Replies...Broccoli. On its own its not tasty...when I say that I mean it doesnt have much taste at all...yet people make it out to be devils food. But once you use it in a soup or spice it up with something on the side it tastes good.
Nickelback.
Sure, they aren't the best band in history, but they don't deserve the meme-like status they've received.
Am I allowed to say country music? Like I don’t even listen to it, but whenever someone says they like country music, someone else is gonna gag in their face. A lot of it is formulaic, but so is pop. And most hit songs of any genre. And there’s also decent country music. The root of modern pop is country rock. Music snobs need to take a seat on this one.
Let people enjoy things. Music is art, and art is very personal. If you don’t like it, bring headphones. The only time it annoys me is if there’s gospel music in public places. Simply because gospel is very emotional and kind of moody. Like I just wanna sit here and eat my enchiladas and complain to my spouse about work that day. I’m not really in the mood to drop down on my knees in a fervent worship session at Jose Taco.
Unemployed people. A lot of people genuinely are looking for work and did not want to lose their last job/it was beyond their control (like a layoff) but they get so much hate and called lazy by most people. I know too many unemployed people that are actually really trying hard. They definitely aren’t lazy. (Not saying lazy unemployed people don’t exist, but to be fair, so do lazy employed people too lol)
Worked in community services for a few years on a mandatory program for anyone on welfare to get them back to work. There were only three types of people 1. Want to work, 2. Absolutely unemployable at that moment in time, and 3. Incredibly lazy. There was hardly anyone in the lazy category. Some of the people experiencing homelessness or people addicted to drugs or alcohol wanted so so badly to get jobs but had too many personal challenges to be reliable enough to make it to work. Broke my heart.
Puns, everyone always acts like they're so cringey when secretly, I think we all know how great they are
Nuclear energy. Of the 3 big nuclear accidents (Chernobyl, Fukushima, Three Mile Island), two of those designs are no longer in use at any plant, and none of the designs have been used to build any new plants in decades. The entire industry has been made far safer as a result of learning from past mistakes and it is now the greenest of energies. But many people are still adamantly anti-nuclear.
Not disagreeing, in fact it does seem like a good clean source these days but . . . Have they figured out how to handle the waste (used fuel rods etc.) safely?
Natural red hair
And natural CURLS! I'm so blow out of stick straight, part in center and just hang there. Cookie cutter hair
Meteorologists. They try their best to predict the weather based on patterns, models, and data. They're not perfect because predicting the weather is insanely difficult. When they get it wrong, I think we should go easy on them. It was probably an outlier result almost no one could have foreseen.
Optimism.
I'd rather be an optimist who's occasionally wrong than a pessimist who's always right.
I think optimism needs space to breathe and grow.
It’s true. For some reason few people want to hear ‘alright, let’s get this done! We’ll do what we can to foresee problems, and face challenges head on as they arise’. Humans are even strangely wired to find any change painful
People who hate popular things just because they're popular/mainstream are ridiculous.
Anything that’s popular/mainstream is such because it’s just so amazing and original that everyone just loves it, or because it’s engineered to be a safe rehashed, proven product to maximize the chance of having a broad appeal. The former is rare and timeless. The latter is dime a dozen and you won’t even remember it two years from now. I just wait until everyone I know can’t stop talking about it, then I check it out.
Sharks
I love diving with sharks, they really are such beautiful creatures. I wish more people would experience life under the ocean to see how beautiful it is and maybe experience first hand all the harm that is happening down there. Every dive my partner and I collect bag loads of rubbish, it's getting quite heartbreaking.
Fast food. It's just meant to be quick and edible, not healthy and sophisticated. And some days I'd rather wait 5 minutes in a McDonald's than spend an hour cooking for myself.
MSG has gotten a bad rap but there really is nothing wrong with it.
The banjo, people only associate it with bluegrass and therefore not many people like the instrument. But when playing other styles it actually sound very nice and interesting.
Snakes, okay *some* snakes. I can understand a fear or phobia of snakes because we're instinctually afraid of them. Even if you're not scared of them, if you touch or see a snake you'll probably get a shiver up your spine or get goosebumps since they were a big problem for our race WAY back when. Hating snakes though? most of them leave you alone and mind their business as long as you mind yours.
Customer service associates.
Everyone should work in customer service for a year. It actually makes you a better person, in public anyway lol
The Prius. Rock solid, reliable, cheap on gas, and, as of the 3rd gen, average performance. Lots of storage and utility. People love to hate it. People always want to be in front of it, even if they intend to go slower than it was. Everybody that has a coal tune on their truck has to take a shot at rolling on it, and the list goes on.
I don't care if people hate on me and my Prius. It's approaching 400K miles, and has averaged a little over 50MPG since new (I have the records to prove it). Without question it has been the best car we've ever owned, and the best vehicular investment, too. Not the most fun, admittedly, but I never expected a Prius to be fun.
SPAM (the canned SPiced hAM product, not trash email). I make SPAM musubi about three times a year. At least once a year, my family has fried SPAM sandwiches for supper. We would probably have it more often if it wasn't so expensive.
It's really good on fried eggs and rice. My brother spent two years in the Philippines and when he got home, he could not get enough of that stuff.
Guy Fieri, he literally is the nicest person in the world but since he looks like he was electrocuted by mountain dew people want to saw his head off
Beans on toast. Had a rough day? Beans on toast! Partner being difficult? Beans on toast? Kids ? Beans on toast
Pumpkin Spice. It gets associated as "generic white girl s**t" but goddammit that s**t is tasty! I look forward to every fall when pumpkin spice comes back.
I’ve never understood food based stereotypes. “Ha ha! Those people eat that particular food. That’s so like them and why they’re terrible.” And it’s a food with broad appeal. Idiotic.
Can I say Coldplay?
I love them.
I love Coldplay as well. I mainly like metal but Coldplay have quite a lot of good songs perfect for dancing and jumping around like no one is watching! Amazing live as well, great energy
<Insert Current Videogame Popular with Kids>
Be it minecraft or fortnight or roblox or whatever, there always seems to be a game out which it is fashionable to s**t all over just because a certain group of people you find personally annoying enjoy.
Sure, I find the minecraft build tutorials narrated by someone who hasn't blown their nose once in their 14 years of life annoying, but you know what he's putting it out there and good on him.
Right now Diablo Immortal is my go to game. I know it's been labeled as pay to win (p2w) but I have found it very enjoyable and I have spent maybe $20 max on it. It's f2p (free to play) and there isn't a spending requirement at all. It's just to help in certain dynamics of the game.
Furries. They are a bit weird, but completely harmless. Especially compared with many other subcultures nowadays.
In Canada, a group of Syrian refugees was booked at a hotel while they got sorted and could figure out where they would be living ect. Unknown to the organizers, the hotel was hosting a local furry convention at the time. The Syrian children, likely terrified from fleeing the ongoing war in their home city, were greeted with brightly coloured and sympathetic fursuits who were absolutely delighted to share a hug with scared children.
Knitwear, some people find it itches and stings but it's actually pretty comfy when you wear sth else under it
Honestly, I think Reddit gets more hate than it should. Don’t get me wrong, the company itself has a lot of problems, but I feel like there’s this persisting stereotype that Reddit is just a bunch of edgy incels, and it’s just not true anymore (if it ever was). Sure, there are some bad subreddits out there, but mostly what I see, especially in the bigger subreddits, is a really diverse user base in age, experience, and identity.
Police officers. Sure there are the occasional that go on power trips, but there are far more just doing their job. And chances are that the only reason you had a bad experience with one is because you were doing something wrong to begin with.
No. Way too much evidence of bad run ins with cops when people weren't doing anything wrong.
Simon Cowell, at least back in the day when American Idol was huge in the US. People always called him mean, but from what I could tell he was basically right all the time, and he didn't sugar coat things because he had to make up for every other judge sugar coating their feedback so much. There were probably instances of him taking things too far, but I never saw that myself.
I don't hate him for what he says, I hate him for his systematic destruction of the UK music business.
BTS!
they're insanely humble and talented people who unfortunately have an annoying fanbase
Can't say anything about the group themselves, or any interaction I had with their fans, but it's more for the repetition of their song with Coldplay that airs on the radio at least twice a day. I swear, despite the radio station advertising the "No Repeat Workday", I hear that song (and others) on average twice to three times a day. And there's also the fact it's not my cup of tea genre wise, as I'm more of a rock fan, but that's just splitting hairs at that point. And every fanbase will always have that subsection which makes the fandom difficult to be apart of/are toxic, which always gives the fanbase a bad rap.
I fully believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that it shouldn't interfere with anyone else's lives. If you don't like the LGBT community then don't participate. If you don't like certain shows on TV, then don't watch. If you don't like certain lifestyles, then don't live like that. If you don't like abortions, then don't get one. It's just that simple. People need to stop shoving their views/beliefs/ideals down our throats and just pay attention to their own lives instead of butting into others. We need to respect each other to a certain degree. Oh, if the people doing the hating would actually read and comprehend what you wrote, Mama. My thoughts exactly. What on earth is wrong with "live and let live?"

Well, that didn't go as expected. Oerff,, you are misquoting Jesus. The verse you are referencing is from the Old Testament. Jesus is in the New Testament. Jesus spoke of love many times, but your reference is from Corinthians.

Greenpeace's use of GMO as a fundraising boogieman has ensured that it is almost impossible to get funding for any GMO research for the last 50 years. My home country of New Zealand has a problem with greenhouse gases produced by farming. Almost all of which could be solved by GM rye-grass and modifying the gut bacteria of the cattle. The effectiveness and safety of this has already been proven. But there is no way the public will allow it. Nicotinoid insecticides are killing bees worldwide. Bt crops completely solve this problem. But they cut into the profits of organic insecticide producers who wish to spray Bt, the world's most popular organic insecticide.
GMOs are a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they have great promise to solve many problems; on the other, unscrupulous companies exploit them to fatten their profits. Also, we don't yet understand everything about genes and genetics. Genes that make crops resistant to herbicides can jump to the weeds, resulting in super-weeds that are nearly impossible to kill. Also, many GMO crops do not have viable seeds, so the farmers have to buy seeds every year instead of reserving some from each year's harvest for next year's planting.

Just let people live their lives if they aren't hurting anyone...Just because people are different, or not the 'norm,' doesn't mean they deserve such hate, for just trying to live their lives. Literally, all they want is to be able to live like most people do. Have the same rights! I've had people tell me poc and the lgbtq+ community want special treatment, which is a lie. I'm legit struggling with all of this. I just don't understand it I guess
#56 not agreeing with the general opinion - things aren't always black or white, there is a while grey area in between. Though so often if you have a (no different opinion you are downvoted for not agreeing to everyone. (Yes, looking at you bp and similar sites). The annoying thing is, I do it too... I downvote opinions that clash with my beliefs.
You're absolutely right about grey area. I've stopped downvoting, not that I used to do it much because I prefer to engage. But since I found out about banning, I don't do it at all

I absolutely LOVE COLDPLAY. I'M A MASSIVE FAN. They always make me feel better when I'm down. But they get so much hate, because apparently their music is too depressing/repetitive/pop. But actually, they are a real creative band and just love to experiment. Every album has a unique theme to it, I'll never get bored of Coldplay! Especially AHFOD gets hate for being too happy/pop.. but the guitar solos. AMAZING. They're probably the only band to do transition tracks, and I LOVE how the chorus is sometimes a guitar solo! Also, let me add; Chris Martin's voice is absolutely stunning. Its on another level. And you can tell he puts so much effort and emotion into his singing. Also, they donate TONS to charity, still get hate. They're people too! THANK YOU CHRIS MARTIN, JONNY BUCKLAND, GUY BERRYMAN, WILL CHAMPION! FOR EVERYTHING!!!
If you don't expect everyone to be exactly like you, your happiness factor goes off the chart.
Life is too short to spend your time worrying about whether liking something is controversial. Eat pineapple on pizza. Dress in a fursuit. Cuddle with snakes and sharks and black cats and pitbulls. Watch children's cartoons as an adult. If it doesn't affect anyone else, what's the issue?
Weird. I don't hate any of those things. OMG--what's wrong with me??
The most of this stuff I thought "what?! This is common to hate it!?". I guess I know nothing.
One Direction! They got so much hate (as well as their fans) just because their main demographic was teenage girls and they were teenagers/young men! They deserved absolutely none of it and I will stand by this to the day I die.

I agree with everything except the one with Nickelback ... There, I said it and I meant it ...
Hate is a strong word. Can't say that I truly hate anything. I dislike some things and loathe others but I don't think I truly hate anything.
Full stop
