Everyone's approach to life is different, but there are some things many of us agree on. For example, recent economic conditions have resulted in homeownership being less attainable, while the pandemic and the Great Resignation have made us realize the value of freedom, comfort, and flexibility. We understand that celebrities can't save us and that things need to change if we want to wake up with a smile on our faces in this ever-changing world. Interested in what that could be, Reddit user MustPlayVR made a post on the platform, asking people, "What needs to die out in 2024?" Here are some of the most popular answers, big and small.

"Influencers".
You are completely right. The problem is that a majority of people lack the ability to use common-sense or think for themselves.
Load More Replies...by influencers you mean just instagram and facebook or will we still have youtuebrs because if we do then I might (will) get very mad( homicidal)
I don't care much about the youtubers, my problem is the tiktokers.
Load More Replies...Ya'll realize BP counts as an influence. Especially with the amount of time we spend here lets get real.
Not the same thing. People share a wide variety of opinions here. You might get downvoted for a different opinion, which is a bit toxic, but besides that we usually make fun of the influencer articles
Load More Replies...I don’t mind YouTubers, and some TikTokers, but I agree for influencers on places like instagram and the rest of TikTok. People who create funny content for the purpose being for other people to enjoy are fine, people who create content solely for money and don’t care about their fanbase need to go.
... have never INFLUENCED me in any way, shape or form. But then, I'm not a soul-less, shallow shell of a human being looking for validation from complete strangers. The whole concept is just so f*cking weird to me.
Or as I call them, "People who no one over the age of 25 pays any attention to."
Kardashians - been going on for far too long.
before their plastic surgeries, you could tell them apart, now they all look alike
The word unalive should unalive itself next year.
Think it is just BP? Anyone who wants to make money on YouTube has to censor themselves to the nines to get past censorship or be demonetized. Sex, porn, drugs, suicide, or any other unwholesome topic.
Load More Replies...Trigger word censorship is peak stupidity. All you're going to do is cause a second word to become triggerable. If it's a rough topic, add a warning. But stop with this nonsense.
Give them a centimeter, they'll take an entire kilometer
Load More Replies...Bring back the normal words and not the nanny state words because it might hurt some poor little snowflakes feelings. I want to be able to see the words die, suicide, killed, murdered etc because saying someone was unalived by an unaliver gives the impression that someone turned someone else off like a torch and not committed a vicious and violent crime. I also think the word changes affect the way the courts punish someone because of it, as it makes the crime seem less disgusting. Call it what it is. I bet some of my words get censored
And it should take that stupid "Banana for scale" joke with it. That Sh*t is not funny anymore.
Layoffs while CEOs get paid 300x the average employee and still get a raise 5x the % of the average employee as well.
CEO pay should be regulated and tied to their lowest paid employee; ie: they cannot legally be paid (including benefit packages and bonuses) more than 200 times their lowest paid employee. You can thank Reagan and corporate deregulation for the current state of corporate greed. Trickle-down economics has never worked and will never work.
Sure and when it goes bad, they get payed extra for "fighting through the hard time" and when it goes well, they get a bonus for "contributing to things going so well" in the company. No matter what, you can be sure they get paid. They ought to get the boot, when things are going bad, but you can't even do that without having to make a major pay out (golden parachute).
Funny how none of their raises in salary triggered the federal government to raise interest rates or outraged opinion pieces in the Wall Street Journal. But raise the minimum wage a dollar for the first time in a decade and they all swallow their tongues.
Worse, golden parachutes where CEOs get millions after they are fired for their incompetence.
Or getting millions of dollars when a scandal their company is involved gets uncovered and they have to leave...
In principal, I agree, but we have to take into account the highly competitive job market for CEOs. Any company that wants a quality, experienced CEO has to pay a wage, (high as it may be), that is competitive with every other comparable CEO position out there. The only way to fix this would be for all companies, everywhere, to change their pay structure for CEOs and collectively lower the bar for compensation expectations.
Without workers, there would be no company. The employees are, perhaps, the most important part. I'm not suggesting everyone makes a CEO salary, obviously, but providing employees with a thriving wage and decent work environment should be the bare minimum, rather than the practice of pandering to shareholders and squeezing workers dry.

Lifetime politicians.
Counterpoint... It's possible that there's some merit in career politicians. How have we gotten to the point that any unqualified idiot that can get elected can run a country? There's something to be said for having the qualifications for the complex and nuanced job of administering a country/province/county/city, etc. That being said, I'll agree that lifetime appointments, (US Supreme Court Judge, or Canadian Senator come to mind), are probably not the best idea...
Another argument is that term-limits are anti-democratic. If the people in a congressional district want to have the same person represent them over and over, that's their democratic choice. If you want to remove the bad career politicians, reinstate some real campaign finance laws. Under the current system, the more corrupt you are, the longer you can stay in office.
Load More Replies...Well, that qnon shaman dude is considering a run for congress. Yes. He really is. Now how is he going to run a campaign from his mommy" s basement, i do not know.
Here is an idea: instead of term limits how about a candidate has to pass a test to run for office? Simple stuff really, like the one I passed to become a citizen. That way we don't have to listen to "the constitution says..." when I know damn well it says no such thing! Ok, calm down. 5,4,3,2,1. All better now.
Or at least pass a cognitive ability test. Senile president is a recipe for disaster.
Load More Replies...Maybe a civics test as there seems to be several recently that have no understanding of how the law or government works.

People who use their phone speakers in public
Why does anyone feel the need to do this? There is already so much I don't want to know about you . . . .
Every. Single. Time. I'm at the airport, there's some d******d watching videos or making a call with the speaker on. May every cup of coffee they drink taste like airport coffee, may they miss every connecting flight, may the queue at security always be long, and may they ever be consigned to the middle seat on the center aisle next to somebody with a wobbly tummy.
I should look this up to find the reason, but why can we endure strangers conversing in person, but not on a device? Why is listening to an open phone conversation so annoying?
Does it really make a difference if you hear one side of the conversation or both sides.
Corporations owning everything. Bring back independant businesses
Totally. Here's something for you to think about: Obediently using businesses that don't pay business tax, like Starbucks means that they don't contribute anything to society, like funding schools and hospitals, whereas if you bought your coffee from reputable places that do pay tax, we'd have better services.
Yes, we need to be more accountable to how much we contribute to the things we don't like in this world.
Load More Replies...Starbucks contributes to non-profit organizations, Feeding America, and gives its unsold food to charity. The corp did try to union-bust, so that's not very nice. For the record, I do not ever buy anything at Starbucks.
I'm a firm believer in more regulation for large corporations...make them more fiscally responsible and stop bailing them out with taxpayer money. Make them ALL pay their fair share of taxes. Make worker's rights -DECENT worker's rights- enshrined in every state and penalize corporations who try to union-bust (looking at you, Amazon).
Like when people boycotted Nestle and it turned out that Nestle own pretty much every brand that was available at supermarket.
Not only do they own everything, they're another branch of many governments.
Raise corporate taxes, eliminate corporate tax deductions and loopholes, limit corporate property ownership.
“Accept all cookies” as the only option
This is going away on 24th November in Europe. TCF v2.2 means they have to include reject all if they have accept all
Add "legitimate interest" to that. 150+ companies to be individually objected to, no "object all" button in sight.
Really dont understand these - I have to "yes / OK" them every time I visit the same site
I never agree. I click the X yo make the box go away. If I can't, I close the whole site.
Let's really put this in perspective. It was the EU's passing of the law that forced websites to post these messages. And what it the result? The result is that these message popup and are a pain. And if forced to select something 99% of the people are going to select whatever button is the easiest to close the message (they don't care). And what's more most of the sites will not remember your choice for next time, so you will have to do it all over again. And "cookies" aren't the only way they can track you. It is useless set of laws that only makes using the Internet that much more difficult.
Unaffordable housing prices
We can wish, but we are (the majority of us) stuck in this hell forever . . . .
Simple solution: standard property tax credit on primary residence, increase property taxes on all other with an increasing scale based on units and value.
Load More Replies...Here where I live, they are constantly building new housing, apartments, etc. "Affordable". TO WHO?? The studio apartments are starting at an average of $1600/month. FOR A STUDIO, not even a full 1 bdrm apartment!
This, but also owning MULTIPLE houses. There should be a 1 house per family rule, none of this vacation home and rental nonsense. Also, homes should ONLY be sold according to family size plus future proofing for growth. NO ONE needs a five car garage with 5 acres of land for shrubs and three floors. Just a ton of wasted space taking away from building homes for others.
They aren't unaffordable. By my calculations, if I save ever spare dollar I have between now and the age of 50, i'll be able to buy my own 1 bedroom, 1/2 bathroom, 700 square feet house.
We need big corporations to buy up all the houses to build giant blocks of apartments.
That might look good in your eyes, but many of us loathe having people living above, below, and/or sharing walls. I bought a mobile home because I was so incredibly sick of hearing people stomping around. Sure, I have lot rent, but my place is 2br/2bath, 980² feet of mine all mine. I have my own laundry machines, etc and my pupper and I are very happy here, particularly when you weigh it against apartment living. I swear, every apartment I ever lived in had someone above me who alternated between wearing cowboy boots and tap shoes, but if that's what appeals to you, great, but there are alternatives.

politicians being able to lie with impunity
That is because you don't have a functioning press. Journalists are supposed to call out the politicians by asking critical questions, not just be a mic-holder that uncritically helps spread their hollow promises and baseless accusations.
You can get an intelligent, pointed question from a journalist and not answer it by changing the subject and just rambling on about something else. I see this occurring daily.

Gender reveal parties where they start forest fires just to announce their unborn child’s gender like seriously, just send a text to everyone saying “it’s a boy/girl”
If we started using the correct term I don't think they would be as popular. S*x reveal parties doesn't have the same ring to it...
Well we could always go with genital reveal parties, though not sure if that's better or worse.
Load More Replies...Perhaps we could stop teaching children from birth that the single most important thing about them is their sex.
I think it's ok to have a party, but not these extreme ones that are causing fires, polluting rivers, etc. Just bake a cake with blue or pink on the inside, ITS THAT EASY AND SIMPLE. EVERYONE LIKES CAKE.
i think it's so cute when people get everyone to bite into a cupcake, and someone gets one with the sex of the baby. absolutely adorable to see the excitement on the person with the special cupcake's face!
Load More Replies...But does it really let everybody know the gender of the baby if you don't poison the water supply of a whole village with paint? /s
Who knew that parties for the express purpose of judging the genitals of unborn babies would spiral out of control like this?
Just tell people what you're having. Why does it have to be so elaborate?
Profit. From the bussiness that make gener reveal parties.

My son made donuts. The color of the cream was the gender. They simply handed them out and we all ate them as fast as we could to find out.

Social media "challenges" to break the law or hurt people.
Ought to be a way to punish the websites that encourage this. TikTok, I'm looking at you.
It's not the apps fault, it's about the people that buy into dangerous challenges.

I live in a congested, poor/low income area where the tensions run high because we all live in concrete block buildings stacked upon one another like lab cages. As it is, I have to remain vigilant when I walk to the store/pharmacy/bank. The last thing I need is some little punk coming up on me for something as inane and intrusive as video clout.
Or that involves other people without their permission like pranks or hidden cameras, etc.
Just be straight to the point...TikTok challenges. CALL THEM OUT! As long as we're at it, the ones coming up with the "challenges" need to be stopped as well.

That's going to take about a hundred years, but it will eventually happen.
Tipping culture
Let the rich tip. I don't have the money to spare with these crazy high prices. so I don't go anywhere that tips are customary.
If people are gonna just expect tips for absolutely no reason, then they should also expect me to haggle down on the price of products and services for absolutely no reason.
I refuse to use DoorDash or GrubHub for the simple reason I am expected to tip PRIOR to them providing a service. Do you tip your hairdresser BEFORE you get your hair cut? Do you tip your waiter BEFORE he even takes your order? Of course not. I will drive to our favorite pizza place and pick up the order myself. Gal at the counter LITERALLY turns around, takes FOUR steps, gets my pizza out of the warming oven and takes FOUR steps back to the counter. I put my card in the machine and click "No Tip". She gets this really pissy look on her face, but before she can say a word I put up my hand and said, "Don't bother. You did absolutely nothing worthy of a tip. Nothing. A trained monkey could have handed me a pizza".
I'm Australian,we don't have a "Tip Culture" because we have a minimum wage of $23.23 per hour or $882.80 per week and universal healthcare.IF we tip someone here it's for really exemplary service.
I honestly don't know how to tip anymore because it's ubiquitous and, as different services grow, it's becoming more confusing. I had a delivery tonight. Just a bag and my signature. No heavy lifting or traveling to a remote location. But did I tip him properly?
Call your congressional representative and demand that food service workers be paid full wages.
Then don't tip. Yes, people will think you are an a*****e because you are acting like one. After all, actions are more profound than words. It sucks that this is the true price of commerce in America, but here we are. The system sucks, everybody knows it, and we are all trapped in it together. I would think this would be the easiest thing to help out other people who working their a*s off and getting nowhere.
Celebrity worship
I really don’t understand why people worship them especially the bad ones that treat people like c**p
I just previously mentioned Beatles fans. I grew up in the 60's/70's when the screaming and fainting were common reactions to Elvis and various bands. I've been fortunate to meet many musicians, some bands that are god-like famous, and I never had the urge to scream and drown out their music.
Again. Im not a fan of football and not a fan of swift but i know all about them fromn their s*** being crammed down our throats.

People being offended by everything and anything
Which coincides with the opposite: a lack of respect and sensitivity for others. Yes, offense culture goes too far. But simultaneously, there's no reason to be needlessly offensive when it's easy to be respectful.
People need to stop taking offense at the least little thing.
Load More Replies...No one outside of a mental hospital is offended by everything and anything. People have categories of things they object to. One of the categories the OP objects to is people who don't object to the same things he does. How dare they!
If people are regularly telling you that what you’re saying is offensive, that sounds like a you problem.
Just go to the comments section of every BP list ever made and y'all will find nothing but "I'm so offended!" And "what about-isms"
I find offended people very offensive and I am offended by them constantly.
I've noticed that just about everyone I've ever seen/heard complaining about "how everyone's so easily offended these days" are those who are butthurt that it's no longer acceptable for them to be openly sexist, homophobic, etc.

Gun Violence
Guns in general, with the exeption of those who acutally need such tools in their daily lives, e.g. hunters, hikers (in bear-land) or farmers that must protect their flock from wolves etc. They are not toys, and can be dangerous when uneducated people handle them incorrectly, or don't think things all the way through.
They can also be dangerous when educated people handle them correctly, as shown in a lot of mass shootings
Load More Replies...Here is my opinion on this subject. Guns are too accessible. Doesn’t mean we can’t own them or go to the range and go do target practice with them. There should be safety measures put in place for them. Like getting one from a påwn shop down the street should be illegal. Having a mental health/clarity test before the purchasing of a licensed firearm from a licensed dealer, and having taken a test/training for that firearm would fix all of our problems. Yes it would be a major hassle that unfortunately won’t get implemented, but it would mean less gun violence.
Despite being raised with guns on the farm, becoming a sport sharpshooter and a hunter, I'm appalled at our lax US gun laws. There is absolutely no argument for a civilian owning a military style weapon. None. And now we have ghost guns that chill me to the bone.
Criminal violence!!! Corrupt politicians allowing it to happen and even setting up false flags for it!!
Just saying that in Russia the first thing commies did was banning weapons. Even kids could have a rifles to put commies in Kremlin and conquer colonies for Red Moscow, but after that even professional hunter couldn't have rifle or pistol. Then Stalin started terror.
Ahem - according to this source alone, over 35000 people have died from gun violence as per november this year: https://abcnews.go.com/US/116-people-died-gun-violence-day-us-year/story?id=97382759, with roughly comparable numbers for fatal motorvehicle accidents. However, car crashes result in the driver's death around 50% of the time, while gun violence often results in the death of another person or multiple other persons, aside from the gunner. Also, a car is a tool you literally can't do without in the US, as opposed to a gun. So ... yeah. I can see why cars aren't banned.

Pumping in more and more advertisements into...*everything*, even premium/paid monthly subscriptions/streaming. Sports are taking longer and longer due to more ads. More ads are being injected into everything.
It's hard to imagine most ads are even effective at all. How many people have bought an item or service based on advertising? If anything it makes me more likely to not buy it, especially if the ad is particularly annoying or way overplayed.
Also, ad agencies used to put much more effort into ads/commercials. Commercials were never a good thing, but some used to be slightly funny or entertaining at least.
I agree to this plus mobile phone ads that blatantly lie about the content of the app they are advertising
All the “-scapes” ads plus fishdom…I think in order to stop these fake ads we need to stop downloading them, and leave bad reviews. If the ads stop bringing in people, they’ll stop making them.

I wish we could go back to not having commercials advertising drugs and lawyers
Especially for the military (Hey! my taxes are paying for that!) and prescription drugs (Hey! my insurance is paying for that!).
There was a study done in the 1920s about whether or not advertising sells. It doesn't, but the ad agencies, for obvious reasons, suppressed the findings
I just love paying for YouTube Premium and having to skip through the "This video is sponsored by" section of every video I watch. I also love how every idiot that makes a video expects to be able to live off it. You're just giving your two cents my man, how about an actual job?
All online adverts are annoying and I'm of the opinion that if an advert interrupts my video/game etc, then I will make a decision to not buy whatever they're advertising (which is usually something I don't want or can't afford anyway). The adverts make me want to not buy them.
Also pumping entertainment into everything, commercials, music, etc., wherever we go. Just a quiet time would be nice on a walk. No distractions when out, dining, shopping, etc.
Until thrift shops are saturating the market, I will remain impervious. I'm not going out for a burger when the frig is 15ft away. Who are they appealing to?
Influencers filming themselves “helping” others, you’re not helping them, you’re exploiting them for your own gain.
Listen, if the person they're helping is actually helped, then it's still a net positive. I'd rather see this type of content than pranks or potentially wasteful/harmful challenges or conspicuous consumption.
Sigh. For the 4,037th time, it is NOT good to put suffering people in a position where they HAVE to play along with your Me Me Me show in order to get what they need. Be a decent person and do it without compromising their dignity. If I can do it, so can you. If you genuinely feel that publicity needs to be generated for your cause, do it in a manner that doesn’t require your recipients to choose between having their face put on the internet when they might not want it to, or risking not getting what they need. This is not hard.
Load More Replies...While I do not like the videos, I like that people are being helped. And I know that is a gross oversimplification of the situation. However, now when I see someone being filmed by someone else accidentally, I'm always wondering if it was accidental filming or "accidental" filming. My trust in those sorts of videos has been destroyed.
Devils advocate here, if the person is using profits from the video to help more people then I see nothing wrong with it. Plenty of people do this without showing their personal identity so its not for clout. The videos are how they make money to help people in need. That being said the ones that are obviously for attention or staged make my skin crawl.
well, people like Jimmy Beast actually do a lot of great and charitable things with their gain, for the gain, so it's a full symbiotic loop.

Unaffordable housing + obscene rents + low wages = homelessness. Not all unhoused people are junkies or winos.
The Canadian millionaire, LeBrun, just built 99 tiny houses for homeless people. It's doable. It's always been doable. But as long as our governments are too weak to tax the wealthy, it's not going to be a reality.
Everyone needs a place. Find out why they are homeless and rectify the problems that put them there to begin with. Each person has their own story and needs to be helped in a way that takes into account what happened to them. Reasonable housing/rentals would do a lot to help when the cause is economic.
And the sleazes that pretend to be homeless and beg for money. Stand on the corner of median, with the requisite cardboard sign (and where does the black marker come from that is used for the sign?) Alpha male podcasts
There is no such thing as an "alpha male," it's just whiners whose life peaked in High School and can't understand why being a bully doesn't work for them anymore.
Those who declare themselves as being ‘Alpha’ are…. Incorrect, it’s a debunked theory. Add in the fact that’s if you need to tell others what your social status is then you certainly don’t actually command anything like that position. We naturally find and support leaders, and they naturally find that position, they negotiate and communicate with others and the best don’t demand anything, they bring others along with them. Tell me you are an ‘Alpha’ and I immediately think you are desperate.
You have the choice of whether or not to listen to podcasts. If you start taking free speech away from one group, we'll all lose out eventually.
You're right about free speech, but there is more than one type of choice. Some people - like battered spouses - have no choice about suffering the consequences of attitudes promoted in these podcasts.

They believe that it is in the correct hands in their own hands. and that giving it away to people it would be fettered away on useless things. No we plebians are too stupid to have money and be equal. Must stay squashed and quiet under the boot of capitalsim,
Capitalism is still much better than what they have in North Korea. Or Russia. Last thing that really worked in our country was monarchy, but trying to explain it to people is hard andslow process, because "republic is better in all ways". Except taxes, public offices, personal and county freedom (like when our village wanted to cut down a tree. It took 7 months and 25 papers to cut down a tree that could fall anytime), running business,...
Load More Replies...Take everyone who says greed is bad. Let them win the lottery. See how much they give away.
Greed has been around for 250,000 years, I doubt that it's going away anytime soon.
Capitalism would be an _improvement_ over what we have in the US. Capitalism means competition so that we get both reasonable profits and reasonable prices. The secret to getting uber-rich these days is stopping capitalistic competition. Government lobbying, copyright, patent trolling -- all ways to make sure that nobody is allowed to compete with you. That's why the big money is in entertainment, software, medications (while actual hospitals are hurting for money) -- things like that. True capitalists like the Carnegies and Rockefellers aren't around anymore.
im sorry I can't take this seriously, the protest board looks like a dr Seuss title
My experience is that many people who decry "corporate greed" are more than happy with it when it pads their 401K.
You are either naive or just insane if you don't understand that greed is a basic human trait and is in everyone. You may think that you are not greedy, but do you own a car? Do you want to own a better car?? Maybe you just walk everywhere. Do you own shoes? Do you want to own more comfortable shoes. Anything that you want and don't have. That is greed.
Conflicts that date back to the Bible
Organized religion in all of its forms always leads to violence. You want to worship magic space man in your own house that is fine, but stop talking about who has the better one in public. No one f*****g cares about your own internal delusions and the stockholm syndrome ticks you have developed from being indoctrinated into the largest cult on Earth. STFU.
Whether or not you belong to an organized religion, this was the most disrespectful way you could have put this up. The post itself was referring to conflicts about anything that date back to the TIME of the Bible, though slightly unclear. It's totally fine to be personally against organized religion but it gives a lot of people a sense of hope, and there's no reason to be judgemental and take that from them :)
Load More Replies...Imagine your ancient religions that are clearly mythology and objectively silly. For example worshiping Apollo in earnest. If you're a person of Faith please realize that this is how silly it looks to a nonbeliever. Now imagine said Apollo worshiper insisting that you dignify their position. Then realize their belief in Apollo directly affects their voting choices in ways that are completely hypocritical and destructive. Sorry, not sorry about the resentment. If your imaginary friend gives you a sense of solace or belonging that's on you. In a world where there's no excuse to not be scientifically literate, religion has been a point of friction the entire time. The more God we've thrown out of our lives, the better our lives have gotten in every discernible metric. Life expectancy, infant mortality, women's rights, literally could go on and on. Edit: meant to be a reply to the comment below.
For what it is worth, there are still people who worship Apollo, or the idea of him. Also, it is when you make your religion your entire personality and motivation that it starts to get problematic. Being an atheist is still technically a belief, and you telling people that their beliefs are obviously fake is not that different from them telling you that you should believe in theirs

Corrupt politicians and billionaires
The corrupt US is run by the oligarchy!! reboot the entire corrupt system!!!
Yes! We have too many wealthy people whom are supposed to represent the citizens, but they just just create bills for their own interests. They have absolutely no idea, or interest in how us non-wealthy citizens actually live, how hard it is to make ends meet, let alone get ahead. They live comfortably, and say the c**p middle/lower class people want to hear, to get elected.

Perhaps qualify that to include people who have birth defects or go through disfiguring accidents or medical procedures?
Load More Replies...I don't really mind this one. Sure, there are some people who I might think have had too much done, or underwent a botched procedure, but in the end, my opinion doesn't really matter. Whether you think someone looked better before is irrelevant. If they think they look better after, that's all that matters.
Look at poor Joan Rivers. She felt she had to live up to a certain "ideal" until she actually became her own caricature, which ultimately led to her death. Or that NUTSO NY socialite they call "The Lioness". Really, do you even OWN a mirror? You look absolutely ridiculous.

EVERYTHING BEING CROPPED. Jesus christ i hate cropped things. If i find a cute shirt it’s cropped, cute jacket? it’s cropped. cute sweater? ITS CROPPED. i don’t care if people wear it but ITS EVERYWHERE.
There’s no point in cropping a jacket or a jumper. Hard to imagine people who want a frozen stomach because of odd fashion
and yet, here we are. Clothes are either cropped or oversized. Some are even oversized AND cropped. Teens look homeless wearing toddler tops or shirts that swallow them - and that is the style. It is horrible.

Daylight Savings. The one thing everyone can agree on.
I 100% do NOT agree with this statement. The shifting of a human invention (clock) to accommodate the significant natural changes in hours of daylight between seasons, especially the farther from the equator you live, makes complete sense. Why is anyone opposed to it? It's too difficult to do two day of the year? If that is so difficult, how do you function? Can you tie your shoes? Travel to a different time zone??!!? Oh my God, the horror!
Ther extra daylight is great for families and anyone who doesn't just want to sit in front of the TV after work. more time for outdoor family activities.
Where I live, it will be dark at 5PM. So play catch for 10 minutes?
Load More Replies...NOT everybody agrees on that. There are also people who like it, I thought that was commonly known.
The one thing we've already tried to eliminate, didn't like the results, and brought back. You should try reading sometime.
I disagree. There are countries where it serves a purpose, otherwise in summer there would be an extra hour of daylight in the morning when most people are sleeping, and/or 3pm sunsets in winter. In the UK, for instance, the difference in length of days between summer and winter is massive, and daylight savings helps with that.
We will never agree if it should be daylight savings or standard time. There are good arguments for both.
It has some agricultural significance if I remember. 'Red sky at night, Shepherds delight. Red sky in morning, Shepherds warning'. I want to say it was so farmers knew when lambing season begins, probably wrong though.

Probably about half of the US political leaders. A bunch of out of touch rich dinosaurs should not be making decisions for us
It’s not necessarily the politicians as it he sheep that vote for the politicians.
Well maybe if people actually showed up to vote, and actually did research that went deeper than listening to campaign slogans, we might have a better situation. But, 35-45% don't vote for president, 65% don't vote in mid-terms, Seniors have half the population of the 18-25yr old demographic, yet have more voting power, and the unfortunate reality is that those under 30 are just as out of touch about the issues and demands of modern life as those over 65. Equally terrible outcomes for different reasons.
Then get involved. Start with the school board. Work your way up. Change things.

I'm guilty of this, but it's on the very rare occasion that I don't have my airpods with me, and we whisper. The situation is usually me in a supermarket looking for something my wife has asked me for. I'm not totally fluent in her language, so sometimes I need her to read the labels. If it helps, I'm always suitably embarrassed and annoyed at myself for forgetting my airpods.
Getting bullied for having a different opinion

Yes, it is deplorable to see police brutality being used against indigenous people protesting the exploitation of their land and black people protesting against…police brutality.
Cancel culture, specifically when it is about something that happened ages ago, at a time that behavior was not considered problematic
I question this one as a generalisation. Even if child abuse and date rape were "acceptable" or at least not talked about in public until rather recently, that's no reason to ignore how they impacted people, as well as the people who claimed they were just "edgy" during the heyday os these practices.
Cancel culture is the result of identity politics, and identity politics has presented the idea that everyone, everything, everywhere is defined either as "Victim" or "oppressor" and a growing number of people consider themselves victims simply for encountering something they don't like, don't agree with or simply do not understand. Because in this new, dumb world, being a "victim" means you're morally right. Which has led to these deep thinkers combing through the annals of history, desperate to find any example of someone better off then they are, doing anything they don't like, agree with, or understand....so they can broadcast to the world how very victimized they are by the fact that the whole wide world doesn't exist to pander to their childish, ignorant worldview. Trying to include your given examples, misses the point that people have with cancel culture. It's not the legitimate issues....it's everything else, and the utter inability of most to understand the difference.
Load More Replies...Cancel culture is consequences culture. If you don't want people to think you're loathsome, don't do or say loathsome things. Anyone want to introduce Prince Andrew to their teenage daughter? And the political sector that complains the most about cancel culture has never hesitated to practice it. When the Dixie Chicks criticized George Bush, conservatives tried to cancel them as hard as they could. When a liberal like Al Franken was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior, did his Republican colleagues in the Senate rally behind him? It appears that the double standard is becoming more singular, and I think that's better - although not always perfect.

Subscription services. But they won’t. They’ll keep replacing single upfront purchases. It’s a shame.
Yep, I stopped updating my windows when they tried out the concept of making it a subscription. It is a sneaky way to slowly drain people's accounts without them noticing it, so I am very carefull with anyone offering that kind of "service".
ok Iḿ confused with your guy´s opinions its either no ads and it cost money or its free and it has ads. ( choose a side guys. Yall just want free entertainment which will cause said entertainment to die off soon)
Subscriptions are for services, not for products. If it costs to the company to provide something to you, the model makes sense. But if it's something they do once, and charge you for it every month it's just a scam. F*ck any product that offers them.
5 day work weeks
I’m gonna be real, I appreciate the fact that the progressive party in my country is focusing on making it so that no one has to work MORE than 40 hours in order to make ends meet. It’s like “everyone gets a plate before anyone gets seconds” for leisure time.

Remakes "for modern audiences" - nobody cares and the "modern audience" is imaginery
People don't complain about remakes or sequels in any other media other than Film & TV? Oh, they're doing Shakespeare again? Great? Yet another book in series X? I'm in! AI art
It’s hardly art. I can allow the use of ai only if it’s for getting ideas as long as you draw the art yourself
AI art, imo, is not bad. It is how people have made their "databases", and how people claim AI art as their own, that is the issue

Many people have voiced frustrations about outdated and frustrating norms that should be left behind as we move forward.
To gain more perspective, readers might find it helpful to review discussions on common practices and habits that have outlived their usefulness in the modern era by exploring the list of things people hope to leave behind.
Pharmaceutical ads
Sports betting or atleast the f*****g ad blitz. My state just allowed sports betting in the past couple years. Let me tell you, I have never seen a non substance addiction hit a state so f*****g hard. A lot of people I know are gambling addicts who don't want to admit it. It's only getting worse, too. I hope we get some documentaries on this initial wave of allowing sports betting. I think we have atleast another decade of this before they start regulating it a little better. However, I think what ever regulation occurs, it'll be too little too late and it won't help.
Political extremism
The problem is that no one considers themselves to be a political extremist. It's those crazies over there who disagree with me that are out in left field.
Strong opinions on things we are too lazy to research.
I still do it, I try to rethink important issues and say have I honestly researched this or am I just saying what I heard someone else say.
You need to see both sides of an issue - and maybe three or more sides. However, if you stick to your side, you are not necessarily being pig-headed; and if you change your mind, you are not necessarily wishy-washy.
THIS! sometimes you ARE right and the other person is wrong. I do not need to listen to both sides of an argument between flat earth's and scientists. I know which one is right.

You can have things you don’t like about a politician and still think they’re the best (or least bad) option.
This is the problem. We are stuck between the group that is too incompetent to get anything done VS the group that can get things done but choose not to.
Load More Replies...You are never, ever going to find someone that you agree with about everything, least of all in a politician. When it comes to government, the goal isn't "perfect" the goal is finding the best, or quite often the least bad option that has the greatest chance for meaningful impact. If it comes down to biden and trump again in 2024, i'm not going to pretend that Biden is without his faults, but i'm certainly not going to throw my vote away on a candidate with zero chance of winning. It's not a matter of "good" or bad" it's about acknowledging what is better, and what is worse.
Every election is a choice between a douchebag or a s**t sandwich. Can we get some new choices for a change?

Advertising outside of actual storefronts. I don't think people realize how much damage the ad industry does. If you really think about it, most of the current political instability can be attributed to advertisment profit incentives to sensationalize the news and promote hysteria on social media. Killing ads would completely change the media landscape and seriously alter our way of life.
I am glad that I live in a country where road side advetising has been outlawed, so at least we don't get those ugly and distracting bill boards all over the place, and people can focus on driving their cars and not read ads.
so then how does a company get their name service or product out to the people? How do media companies pay their employees? Cutting back and regulating yet getting rid of it can be harmful to small or new business.

Less of that and more judging people not by the color of their skin or their sex, but rather by the content of their character.
