It's a common trope among many guys to claim that they simply don't understand women - whether it is willful ignorance or not is another question, but there seems to be a fashionable yet lazy acceptance that women are a complete mystery so there is no point in trying.

Well, there's no excuse now fellas. Turns out, all we had to do was ask! Women on Twitter have decided to take matters into their own hands with the viral hashtag #WhatMenDontKnowAboutWomen.

While they clearly don't speak for all women, the discussion is incredibly insightful and educational, as posters take turns sharing their experiences and frustrations about the kinds of things that just seem to pass many men by. Have you got your notepad at the ready guys? There are some really important points here (and some funny ones too!).

Scroll down below to check them out for yourself, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I would say that 90% of women want pockets in our clothes. And for some reason, nobody wants to give us pockets. Either top company execs want to sell handbags, or they just think they know what we want more than us... which would be typical.

Never understood the logic behind this mentality - instead of being glad to having encountered a fellow geek, you blame her (or him) of fakery? Was this ever supposed to be a competition? See, this is why you have no friends.

Some men can't comprehend the fact that women don't do things just to attract them. That women don't wear clothes to attract them, that women don't choose hobbies to attract them.

Men like to "test" women by asking them questions about the nerdy thing they like to see if the woman is a true fan or not. I'm here to tell you that no one needs to know every single thing about a show or movie or game or book in order to be a true fan!

The issue is when women use the geekyness to get attention. Dress up like some superstar, like Harley Quinn or something, half naked, to get attention. Or streaming when they are gaming, with huge cleavage etc.

The problem is that most geek girls are unattractive by today's standards. And the fake geek girls aren't. Because they know there are a lot of geeks that don't get laid. So they start playing games, take up cosplay (usually of the sluttiest-looking female characters out there), in order to get a lot of attention from this segment, which is actually pretty huge.

Been a geek before there was even the word geek (I think. Now it will turn out it was invented in the 1800s). Not that I've ever been accused of being a fake geek (I'd welcome the challenge!), but being into what I've always been into has helped me find guys who are also into the same things and not into sports, which is fine by me.

Ive never in my life heard or known any female "geek" be accused of doing it to attract a man. I have seen and heard many people be skeptical of someone using this "geek" tag to market themselves to a group of men usually starved for female affection.

This irritates me. I don't read comics. I like superhero movies. But I don't care about learning their back story. I like watching cartoons, but I don't need to know who voiced them. I like collecting action figures but only certain ones, I don't need the whole collection. I like to go to Fan Expo's but not watch Cosplay competitions or "Quiditch" games. But I can tell you about several different Batman timelines, who created Batman, Harley Quinn and the Ninja Turtles. Am I a fake geek girl because I only like SOME things?

it's quite common for fakes to claim that they are real and the other ones are fake. BUT ALL OF YOU ARE JUST FAKES. Just because you played a few levels of candy crush, doesnt make you a gamer. you are not a 90s kid, when you were born in the 90s. you need to at least be 5 years old in the 90s, to actually grasp the 90s. And beeing 5 in 1998 is like starting to watch a good p0rn movie, after the cucumbershot already happened. get a grip, you wannabe geeky girls...when I grew up, girls interested in games, comics and anime were around 5%. So basically there are no real geeky girls until the late 2005s. Then the social media wannabe-fest started. Me and Donald Trump singlehandedly used a sharpie to create that statistic. So yeah...there you go. It must be true.

Preach on! Men can see right through it. I find it rather sexy when a girl is a true geek, but putting on glasses and wearing a short Harry Potter skirt at halloween doesn't cut it.

However, this can be abusive too. Men, you don't have to let a woman you're dating to invade your privacy and show her your texts etc! You're entitled to not show them. And if she looks at your phone without your consent, then it's a big red flag.

Not "I hear words, and I am going to make some assumptions and fill in blanks to what *I* think the problem is and try to solve THAT. 'cuz That's me being awesome" - no... we literally mean "Listen to what *I* am saying. Do not interpret it yourself, then try to fix something that wasn't being said, then get mad because you think we weren't being straight with you... you actually... were not... listening and you don't want to admit it now.
