Probably most of us have plenty of memories from our school years, whether we enjoyed them or not. Funny pranks together with our classmates, first crushes and fights with our friends, long hours doing homework or maybe even skipping lessons - good or bad, these memories may be slightly nostalgic. However, it's also important to mention that school, for some reason, is often associated with scandals that shake up the whole community.
While in some schools these scandals are minor and may be more like gossip or nothing extreme, other students can experience drama that may feel like a movie. On that topic, one Reddit user created a thread online asking community members to share the biggest scandals that happened at their school. And, well, let’s just say that they vary from teachers’ hookup stories to arrests.

My school district gave all high school students laptops that they could bring home with them to use for school work. They could also remotely activate the webcams and spy on students (although of course they didn't tell us this). One kid got caught smoking [substances] this way while he was in his room at home and I think was going to get suspended. He sued the district in response for invasion of privacy and won the case. It got national media attention for a little while.
What did the school think would happen? As a parent, I would've sued every drop out of them. What else have you seen besides this student smoking??
I've pointed this out any number of times. "Gee... lil Suzy Cheerleader's machine is on at 10 o'clock. I wonder..."
Load More Replies...Hmmm, spy on kids in their bedrooms without telling them....wonder what pedo came up with that idea
The person who should not have thought of the children did in fact think of the children.
Load More Replies...They weren't charged with using a concealed camera to (potentially) make child porn? Watching minors getting undressed? Invasion of privacy?
Something similar happened to a teacher colleague of mine. Sued and won.
I heard a story about a district that called the cops on a kid for d***s and it was candy. Another story about a district that ended up with images of children in various stages of undress. Cover your webcams.
When we went virtual, the school only creeped on us, not the kids. We'd also lose pay if we were off camera during instruction.
I think this may encourage pedophiles to become a teacher not a good thing.
A girl in my year lied about having a relationship with a teacher (in gross detail might I add). We all knew that she was straight up crazy and was making it up, but the school board obviously had to take it very seriously and the teacher was fired. Worst part was that the teacher's wife was also a teacher at the school, and so, even though she wasn't fired, she pretty much had to leave her job as well. The school board eventually figured out the girl was lying and offered both teachers their positions back, but they both declined.
While it may be ‘exciting’ to learn about some teachers’ love triangles at work, hookups and drama that happens between them, unfortunately, there are more and more stories and arrests of teachers charged with sexual abuse and misconduct involving their students.
The Children’s Center for Psychiatry, Psychology, & Related Services shared statistics that showed approximately 3.5 million pupils, or almost 7% of those surveyed in the eighth through eleventh grades, said they had experienced physical sexual contact with an adult, usually a teacher or coach.
Two dudes got into a physical fight over a girl. She was lesbian.
IM THE MANLIEST MAN AND I SHALL WIN THIS GIRL WITH MY MANLINESS SO MANLY IT WILL TURN HER STRAIGHT
Load More Replies...Hahaha! This happened to me when I was in 6th form. Two girls were having a fight over who got to ask me out! I’m gay! Still, they helped in making sure no one suspected I was gay.
Boys think every girl is straight and has a mega crush on them Time to face reality, morons.
Oh my. When I couldn't sleep an resided in Berlin, I rode the circle line at night. One time, two lesbian young women were harassed by a drunk, and, I guess, methed up guy claiming to be able to transform them to hetero, or at least bi ... who also said he was released from juvenile prison the day before, and had large crosses carved into both his hands' backs, looking like a few days old wounds, about 1 cm wide on the surface. Definately something seriously off about him... I got up and out with the three of them, after having exchanged nods and makeshift signs with the woman facing me. On the platform, a guy who knew him and also had gotten out approached him, slung his arm around and took him home. And off we all went, nothing more to happen.
The caretaker [ended] two local girls and hid them in the school, he tried using the clay kiln to burn them. He later dumped them a few miles away.
This isn't about Holly and Jessica. Ian try to burn them with petrol and he never hide the body's at the school
Load More Replies...Huntley burned them in a ditch after covering them in petrol. He had murdered them in the bathroom of his home. He didn't use the school kiln, though he did try hiding their clothes in a bin at the school, which is how he got caught out. Not that it makes the horrific crime any better, but if this was meant to be about Holly and Jessica, then the facts should be correct.
I've never heard about this, so I read the wiki. So sad. I don't understand how this guy could have kept getting released after repeatedly r@p1ng under aged girls. He felt uncatchable and invincible
As far as I am aware, he did use a kiln/incinerator at the school. One of the leading police officers quit the force after the case, and I worked with him. I remember watching Huntley on the news before he was accused (helping the search operation) and my mum and I at the same time, out loud, said, “He did it.” We just had hunches.
Can’t do that. People like Adrian above will lose their poo and, apparently, never be right in the head. That Stallone movie in which the police referred to “MDK” (murder, death, kill) apparently won’t be coming true, but the part about “bad” words being illegal may very well be at this rate. 🙄 ETA: It was “Judge Dredd,” right? Where sex doesn’t involve touching each other but rather clam shells?

When I was a junior, a freshman girl came into school before first bell, wielding steak knives and then proceeded to stab 10 kids before a teacher tackled her and apprehended her. Best part was, there was a whole case afterwards of angry parents trying to get that particular teacher fired for putting his hands on a student. Edit: for those interested in the news article and her tumblr posts here you go
This goes to show you how stupid some parents are. They hide behind the guise that they are trying to protect the children and what's best for them. The reality is that they themselves are stuck in the past thinking teachers and principals are "the bad guys" because they never grew up. It will never cease to amaze how immature people can be. When they see a teacher or a principal, how do they not see another adult working a career job, one that involves helping their own children be prepared for life after school?!
One of my favorite cartoons I've seen (you know, the kinda homemade ones?). 2 panels, 1st is labeled 1950's/60's/70's..parent at conference with teacher and child with an E grade saying to the kid "how could you let this happen?" Next panel is 2000's and up with the same scene except the parent is saying it to the teacher with the kid smirking in the background. More true than not.
Load More Replies...If it had been a police officer instead of a teacher, would they have accused them of the same thing? That teacher saved a huge number of lives by stopping her, and I am sure plenty of parents of kids at that school—-the ones with their heads screwed on right, I mean—-are grateful AF for that teacher putting an end to that horror.
That was the same attitude in 2012 when Jorge Saavedra stabbed bully Dylan Nuno to death. ALL the slime at the school tried to avoid responsibility (they knew the bullying was going on, did nothing about it). And Nuno's garbage "parents" called him a "victim", said he should have had a weapon to "defend himself". He. Was. The. Bully. Thankfully, the court ruled that Saavedra was justified and would never face legal or finanicial consequences, ruled that Nuno caused his own death.
Apparently she told her mother she was going to school the next day to stab everyone? Mother thought it was too over the top to call the police?
So same mother tried to sue the teacher for tackling her daughter? She should also face charges like the two parents just did, getting time for manslaughter.
Load More Replies...My husband left teaching for something just as stupid. A female student walked past his desk to sharpen a pencil during a test. He looked up to see where she was going and noticed the back seam of her pants had ripped. Part of her butt cheek was exposed. He discreetly gave his hoodie to the student to tie around her waist and cover the rip. Next day, hubby gets called into the principal’s office. The principal, vice principal, district representative, and campus police officer are all in the room. The mother of the girl was falsely accusing my husband of having an inappropriate relationship with her daughter. Her reasoning was that my husband had no other reason to “stare” at her daughter’s a*s and be “protective” of it. She furthered her claim that he married one of his students so it’s was reasonable to assume he would canoodle with another. My husband was placed on unpaid administrative leave during the investigation. He was cleared of any wrongdoing but it damaged his reputation.
FTR, my husband was my teacher in high school. He’s only 4 years older than me. We didn’t start dating until I was 26 and he was 30.
Load More Replies...It's about time the judges started telling these frivolous cases to go away.
My mom was a first grade teacher. One of her students tried to climb the bookshelf in her classroom (which was not attached to the wall) and was close to falling, so she caught him in an attempt to save him. The same student had a huge tantrum in which he was throwing chairs across the hallway, so the principal put herself at risk and grabbed his hands to stop him from hurting anyone. My mom and the principal got severely reprimanded for both incidents and told that they should have "just talked to him" rather than touching the student.
The worrying increase in cases of sexual misconduct and teacher/student relationships, as shared by the Children’s Center for Psychiatry, Psychology, & Related Services, is more than likely due to the use of social media and cell phones.
According to The Washington Post, about 35% of the educators convicted or accused of sexual misconduct had used social media to gain access to their victims or to continue the teacher-student relationship.
Not a scancal per se but we had a huge sit down protest because the cool janitor got fired because of some petty argument with a lunchtime lady who had a lot of pull (looking back she was probably f*****g the principal).
All students from 10th to 12th grade sat down on the floor in the cafeteria when the bell rung at 8h30 AM up until the end of class at 3pm.
The principal came in at the end of the day and said the janitor would resume his employment.
We cheered. It made the news.
Cool students taking up for someone who does a job most kids make fun of.
There was a male and female high school PE teacher that essentially shared an office. They always got along really well, and kids would always joke that they we were dating. We were just dumb kids, so we never really thought anything of it.
After a couple years, they both started acting weird around each other, and there were rumors that he left his wife and kids for this PE teacher. This wasn't actually true though. What actually happened was they added on a bedroom to their house and the PE teacher moved in. The kids pretty much just had two moms and everyone got along wonderfully. It was strange for about a year, and then it was business as usual. I guess they're going on about 15 years strong.
The female PE teacher at my son's school was married to the Principal. She had an affair with the science teacher. She divorced the Principal and married the science teacher. They interact harmoniously and, frankly, the teachers are a better fit and incredible educators.
Yes. I believe hreiars name was Herm Aphrodite.
Load More Replies...However, probably most of you hear news more and more often about the violence in schools against teachers. Robert Kaiser, who is an expert in all aspects of violence, shared quite alarming statistics - 10% of US educators were physically assaulted in the year 2021.
Additionally, one-third of teachers said that they have experienced at least one instance of verbal abuse or threats of violence from pupils during the pandemic, according to a recent American Psychological Association survey.
Some guy *jokingly* wrote "If I won't get a B for this I'm going on a rampage." on his english test. fast forward 15 minutes, a police response unit of twelve stormed the classroom and *f*****g* arrested the s**t out of him (without being brutal, but it still was quite frightening for deterrence reasons I guess).
Well, this is what should happen if threats like this are made. Joking or not, no one knows if something serious will happen.
Had something like this happen before, but it was a lot worse than rampage....

With school attacks happening they have to take the threats seriously.

One ninth grader broke water on her field trip and one of the teachers had to help deliver the baby.
Oof... 1. The age and 2. The field trip portion. (Y'all can downvote this and start arguments, I really don't care.)
Instead of saying what grade the student was in, how about saying her age? I have no idea what 9th grade is.
Why was she on a field trip if she was that close to delivering the baby? Bus trips are really bumpy and I can understand that she went into labor. Her doctor should have said no. Did no one know she was pregnant? That is a field trip none of the other kids will forget.
So, guys, on another note - do you have some fun scandals that happened in your school? Share them in the comments below!
My high school had some fights that for some reason managed to make the local news, and the principal’s words about it were broadcasted as well. She was pissed, and talked loudly in a passive aggressive manner over the announcements the next morning, repeating our school’s mission statement over and over, ending the broadcast with “record THAT!”
“Record that” became a bit of a meme around the school after that, and the school seems to have lightened up about the situation since because the journalism team’s shirts have “RECORD THAT” written across the back.
A year after I graduated HS, a woman was stabbed 40+ times with a pair of scissors while jogging on our track on a Sunday. One of the guys in that year’s senior class wound up hanging around the track over the following days, obsessively pestering investigators with questions and theories, so naturally some suspicion fell on him. When the woman’s description of her assailant (she survived!) matched him spot-on, he was arrested, and both the scissors used and his bloody clothes were found at his house. Dude was sentenced to 10+ years in prison.
End of story, right?
Wrong. Two years after the trial, the jailed kid is ordered released after his little brother, one year younger and a dead lookalike for his big bro, is popped for violent assault on a woman, and confesses to the stabbing during questioning. Turns out the older brother took the fall for him, falsely confessing so that he could keep his younger sib out of jail. Dude never told anyone, but did admit the lie after his younger brother’s arrest and confession.
I knew both kids when I was a student there. Both brothers were definitely thought to be weirdly intense, but their behavior was attributed to their military dad’s strict style of parenting, and not anything darker.
That's a bro who covered for a violent attacker, who then went on to hurt another woman.

We had two teachers arrested for secretly recording kids in separate incidents. Our wood shop teacher had a low angle camera on the floor pointing up towards the seats, and also would slide an iPad out from under his desk when girls would walk up to it. He let a student borrow his flash drive, who found the evidence.
Then our speech teacher was caught hiding a camera underneath the sink in one of the private bathrooms that special education used...
A girl died in the pool during an event at the school, the swim teacher was blamed and was prosecuted. The girl who died was at my sister's class, both were 7 at the time. That happened over 10 years ago, but the parents haven't had another child since, she was their only kid.
Well I don't know if this was a school-wide scandal, and it was years after I graduated but it's a scandal and a half. I went on holiday with my recently graduated brother (I graduated 6 years before him). He had noticed his friends had posted online that they were in that same city too, so we all met up. With this group of super young looking dudes (all around 18/19), there was an older looking woman I kind of recognised and I assumed it was an older sister. I spoke to her saying "hey, I know you from somewhere", and she says "yeah I teach at the school". It hit me that I'd seen her speech at my other brothers graduation 3 years before that. Then it hit me that she was holding hands and kissing this guy who looked about 15, and she was in her mid-30s, not to mention his ex-teacher (even though they only" hung out " before he graduated and then they were instantly official). What the actual f**k. Apparently they now live together and she still teaches there. Super weird.
If the gender roles were reverse in this scenario, I guarantee you this would be labeled more than just "super weird". This was a woman successfully grooming, seducing, and manipulating a boy.
Yeah, there was a South Park episode some years ago making exactly this point (Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy) . When Kyle tells Poilce the hot blond miss Stevenson is having sex with a young boy all they can say is "Nice".
Load More Replies...Yes, we had the english teacher marry a student right after graduation. Split up now.
We had a English teacher on a exchange programme (in Spain from UK) who was in her early 20s, she was very popular. The pass rate went up 1000%. Sadly I´m English and didn´t take her class.
I went to a small Christian high school that also had a middle and elementary school on the grounds. The principal of the high school had a child that was in my grade. One day he comes over the intercom and announces that he's stepping down from his position. He then goes on to talk about how he and the female gym coach had been having an 'emotional affair' for the last few months. This announcement goes through every speaker in all three schools. I remember everyone in my class looking over at his daughter who had a look a complete surprise on her face. From what I gathered this was the first time she was hearing about all of this.
Shortly after the gym teacher also left her position, but the most interesting part? The gym teacher had no idea this was going on. She was just doing her job and thought she was friends with everyone. The principal read more into their relationship and decided to go to the church with it and they made this decision. The gym teacher left her job out of shame and had to spend a lot of time explaining to her husband what exactly was going on.
EDIT: Adding information that others have asked about. The gym teacher's husband took a little time to realize that there was no actual affair that went on. After that they rumors and gossip in the area got to be too much and he ended up getting a different job pretty far away and moved them both to start fresh.
The principal and his wife got a divorce within a day or so of the announcement. The wife got custody of all three kids, plus I think eventually their house and a fair amount of money. The former principal took a job selling either cars or furniture, I can't remember which, and pretty much faded from the radar. I don't think his eldest daughter had anything to do with him after all of that. I wanna say that she intentionally made sure he stayed away from her wedding.
I saw nothing in the article abour religion being involved other than it was a Christian school. I feel that a secular school would have responded in the same way.
Load More Replies...I feel really bad for his ex family and that gym teacher. What a d**k
Yeah I could understand thinking "I need to do something about this situation" but to publicly announce it to all and sundry is just mind boggling. First step would be to talk to his wife, then talk to the gym teacher and keep it all quiet and between themselves.
Load More Replies...In 8th grade, at Gayle Jr. High, there was a dance with armed guards. Some kids tried to gain access through a locked door. Our assistant principle and a guard went to check it out. The guard drew his gun (possibly) dropped it, and put a .38 caliber slug into the back of assistant principle Edward E. Drew's head. It did not end well as the assistant principle had an 18 month old son. Look it up: Stafford County, Virginia.
And this is why the general concept of "emotional affairs" is BS. People can feel anyway they like about another person, as long as their actions never cross the line. Should they probably deal with their feelings in therapy if it's causing problems in their official relationship? Sure. But that should stay between them and their therapist. They certainly shouldn't be made to feel they need to publicly confess to a "sin" they haven't even actually committed. Damn thought police.
Man I wish I wasn't so late to this party. Around 1998, someone took a dump in a toilet at my high school. This turd was (no joking) the circumference of a coke can, and the length of a size 13 shoe. It was so big that it couldn't be flushed. This s**t made it's way around the school quickly, and there was a line out the door to that bathroom for an hour at least before the facility caught wind. From what we heard, it took the janitor 4 flushes after breaking it down with a plunger. Fast forward a couple weeks to the real aftermath. Someone managed to take a picture of this turd and created a website dedicated to this mammoth s**t. The person that made the site was dumb enough to use his name on the site and the school threatened him with expulsion if he didn't take the site down. He said no. So he had to go in front of the school board to make his case about how it's his right to have a website dedicated to a massive s**t. This made the local news and made my junior year extremely funny.
Cripes! That had to have hurt. I’m not joking here; just imagine passing stool that size. Damn.
I did that somehow in a hotel room in Las Vegas. It was a five-dollar foot long. I tried breaking it up myself with a rubber glove from my suitcase that I keep in case I dye my hair on vacay. I'm a 135 pound woman. I have no idea how a year's output suddenly came out like a horror movie. "The Turd that Ate Las Vegas". I had to call engineers and they took care of it. Pretty embarrassing. They were really nice, though. They didn't take a picture.
"Mammoth s**t" 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I bet that person floated out of the bathroom after that!
So happen with the kid and the school board? Did he get suspended or did he win his case? That is what I'm want to know.
"And furthermore, honorable members of the school board... most websites already ARE s**t, mine is just upfront about it. I rest my case..."

Remember that kid in high school a few years back in Dallas that got arrested for making a “bomb” at school? Then got to meet the president and all that stuff? Yeah that was my high school.
If memory serves, it turned out the “bomb” was actually a rather sophisticated clock. Totally harmless. The kid, who is actually quite a genius, was 100% vindicated. The story got so much hype, and I think it was Obama who was President at the time, asked to meet him. I may not have remembered the details exactly, but that’s the gist.
Not even that, it was a off the shelf clock that he took out of its casing and put into a new one and did not assemble properly and did not work. It wasnt even anything sophisticated. His family lost several lawsuits against the school and fled the country when they lost and a judge ordered them to pay the schools legal fees They now live in Qatar. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/muslim-teen-arrested-for-bringing-homemade-clock-to-school https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/mar/15/ahmed-mohamed-clock-boy-shut-down-again-hopefully-/

There were many other incidents of course, only one of which involved a serious injury.
A girl in my grade died of a brain tumour a week before the Year 12 formal. They buried her the day before the formal. It was f*****g horrific. The scandal wasn't so much with the school as with the local hospital - the f*****s had told her the migraines she was suffering were just normal stress symptoms, so they didn't pick it up until just before she died. She passed while on the plane to a hospital in the nearest major city. Less than a year later, a teacher also got brain cancer. Before that, the fittest and smartest man I've ever met. Like, crazy healthy. A few other students and teachers have had cancer in the years since, and it's not a big town, so it's a bit weird. There's a part of me that's surprised there hasn't been a scandal about a cancer cluster tbh.
Yeah there's very likely some environmental factor in that town that's making people more susceptible to cancer
In rural eastern Kentucky most people pass on from d***s or cancer. We don't die of old age, sadly.
Load More Replies...Doctors did this to my sister and told her it was all in her head, she died a month later. Autopsy should cancer through out her body.
I'm going to assume this is Canada or the UK based on the use of "Year 12" but this sounds like central Indiana.
We use the term Year 12 and Grade 12 interchangeably here (Australia) too. Before people start yelling at the hospital for failing her, the most likely cause is usually the first thing considered. Migraines in a Year 12 girl? Brain tumour is low on the list, stress is high. The real questions are how long had she been having them, were there other symptoms, and how many visits to the doctor had there been? I mentioned in a different article a friend of my Father's died from a brain tumour. His first symptom was blacking out one day and within a month he was dead. Sometimes tumors can go unnoticed until it's too late to do anything even if it is diagnosed immediately.

It turned out that, although she also had depression, she had another condition that probably sparked it. Her parents had been trying to work out what was wrong for weeks, but were focussing on the physical symptoms and missed the mental ones, or thought they were just the stress of starting year 12. Unfortunately, after she fainted at school the day she died, a teacher drove her home, where she was alone for enough time to end her life.
This could be parts of Idaho, or other places, that got fallout from nuclear tests. Or other environmental factors.
My high school districts's superintendent hired a relative who wasn't qualified for the job, increased the salary of administrators every year, used the district's credit card to buy meals, groceries, gas, personal electronics, and gift cards. When the state audit went through they said that the overpay of administrators and the personal spending cost the school district around 1.1 million dollars. Her husband was also an administrator. When she eventually got caught, she just retired and for some reason never faced federal charges. When she retired she had a $260,518 salary. My favorite part is that the state audit discovered that the district's credit card was used to purchase logging equipment the same month the superintendent's husband filed paperwork to open a timber company. Everyone knew there was corruption in the school district, but no audits or investigations happened until someone was threatened by the superintendent's husband on Facebook.
I do not understand this kind of thing. I work in a school. They audit the living c**p out of us on a regular basis. Our secretary has to keep a detailed paper trail for every dime spent. How do people get away with this stuff?!
I'm not American, but do your states and even cities not have different rules sometimes?

There were two teachers at my school who were in their late 20s early 30s who were married. The husband cheated on her with another teacher in her late 40s. Their affair was known by basically everyone, they were even caught in the same car after a school excursion by passing students, they were on the same seat.
Eventually the wife found out and her office was right next to the mistress apparently and they moved them to opposite ends of the teacher offices. Also the husband and wife kept teaching at my school for the entire time I was there and the husband wound up engaged to his mistress.
Apparently the principal was totally on the wives side and she got days off to prepare for court whilst the husband didn't. How do nearly all the students know all this? Apparently teachers like gossiping as much as students.
My highschool Guidance counselor f****d a science teachers wife and everyone knew about it. They got a divorce. Both teachers still work at the same school to this day, and students will never ever let it go. The story has been handed down from year to year.
My 8th grade history teacher was married to a guidance counsellor at another school in our district. Over the summer, his wife disappeared. Major search kicked off, etc. Her body was found about a month later, in their attic. She had unalived herself. And yes, this was a Midwest summer with 90F+ days.

A very popular guy at my school was arrested for videotaping people using the restroom. He was 18. They were not.
Good. A valuable lesson for 17-year-olds in school is preparing them for a different, more permanent world of consequences once that 7 changes to an 8.
Some dude got a chick pregnant in the toilet. So, they locked the toilets and teachers had to escort kids to the toilet. They also got cameras pointed toward the toilet.
EDIT: the cameras were in the hallway. Monitoring the toilet area. Not inside the toilet.

Jr. high. Girls gym teacher posed for playboy NUDE!!! EVERYONE saw those pics after one kid's dad recognized her and let his son take the mag to school. She got fired.
Shouldn't the dad be prosecuted and/or the son? The dad let his son, a minor, possess a magazine that you have to show proof of ID to purchase. He also let his son take it to school filled with other minors THAT AREN'T HIS CHILDREN to expose them to this. The Girl's gym teacher made an adult decision and made money; the dad and the son are the ones in the wrong here.
Right, like I feel the teacher was wrongfully fired. What she does outside the school shouldn't reflect in the school as long as it doesn't cause harm to anyone. I wouldn't give a damn if one of my son's teachers did that as long as she was doing her job.
Load More Replies...She should sue not only the school but the kid’s father as well, for showing the pictures to his underage kid AND giving him the magazine to take to school and show other underage kids, and humiliate the gym teacher. Yes, if the pictures were in her past, she should’ve been up front with the school—-we were all young and dumb and made mistakes, and the majority of us clean up our act and move forward from there—-but we don’t know the context surrounding that. Makes me wonder if old p o r n addict Dad there had made a pass at her, either before or after he found the pictures (probably after), was shut down, and did this as a type of revenge porn in retaliation. TBH, it’s not really outside the realm of possibility. Poor woman. Hope she’s been able to put her life back together.
I was with you up until you said, "Yes, if the pictures were in her past... we were all young and dumb and made mistakes, and the majority of us clean up our act and move forward..." It shouldn't matter if she did it in the past, or last week. As long as she wasn't bringing that material to school, or sharing it with anyone underage of her own accord, or discussing her adult work with her students, it shouldn't matter what she does on her own time. If she keeps those two things separate, it has nothing to do with her ability to be a good teacher. She should also not be obligated to share her adult work with the school just to "be upfront with them". Again, it has nothing to do with her ability to be a good teacher.

There was a home economics teacher who caught a lot of heat for showing how to put a condom on a banana.
Edit: She was not teaching s*x ed at the time.
Showing young boys or girls how to use them shouldn't cause heat unless no one asked her to show them. My technical sister in law thought a man over 40 couldn't get you pregnant and my husband's cousin thought a little person couldn't get someone of average height pregnant. I think I would rather have home economics teacher tell them how to use a condoms then for either of them to have children. Stupidity is a scary thing. Ignorance is fixable.
I think it was sax. Like, she was supposed to be teaching music.

I sat next to the high school basketball star in one class. He was illiterate, so when it was necessary for him to read something from our text book, I would quietly read it and he would repeat it. It was fairly obvious what was going on, but the teachers all overlooked it. He was an awesome guy, though.
Well that is going to back fire when they have to do course work. Hope they are all really good football players.
You can make convincing threats though. Coach not stepping in when these kids get bullied by the athletes, threaten them with bad grades (many sports coaches also teach core classes), and other incentives.

He pointed and poked her leg just above her knee, saying that THAT was the school regulation on the minimum skirt lengths. Obviously that sort of contact between a teacher and a student isn't appropriate, but he was a fantastic man, and he didn't mean anything by it. The girl wasn't even the person who got him in trouble. She apparently told her friend, and the friend made a big outrage about it. Anyway, the teacher got suspended for a few weeks and was told to apologize to the girl. Instead he offered to apologize in front of the entire school during assembly. I respect the hell out of him. It was a bad decision on his part, but it came from a good place and he handled the consequences head-on. EDIT: Changed the word "touched" to "poked". I think people are getting the wrong idea about how he touched her. Also, my school had a uniform, and they were very strict about dress lengths.
We had to kneel and your skirt had to touch the floor. Heaven forbid if your socks were rolled down….
A girl who went to our school gave birth to a baby in Logan Airport's toilets and then tried to board a UK-bound flight.
With the state of sex education in some places, I wouldn't be at all surprised

Biology teacher at my school in the late 70s was seeing one the 17 year olds from what we then called the sixth form. They got found out , he (teacher) got fired. Last we heard they had moved away from the area together and she was pregnant by him
Someone started a "*my school* gossip girl" page and just started roasting people. Really sticking it to them with some properly nasty stuff. It was great for me, as I love drama and am a totally immaculate person (or just so unimportant I was skipped completely). They never found out who ran it, but I can say that it was vicious, and split the school into factions. War is heck and all that.
I was literally thinking that! I hope it didn't go that far though lol

A kid got caught tuggin’ his hog in the library while he and everyone else was taking the SAT.
Maybe looking at the nerdy girls, I get it... but I personally never got off on a good old test! /s
Load More Replies...He was trying to relax before test. Lol. Seriously do it in the bathroom.
Makes sense, no one wants a kid dragging a pig through the library. It might be noisy, make a mess and eat the books!
And why not ? It was quiet and everyone else was taking their SAT (apart from the librarian .... Oops)
At the French speaking school, some students got suspended because of a song they sang at a talent show. The issue the school had with the song is that it was in English. The students decided to do a sit in and not go to class in protest of the suspension. Once it hit the news it reignited a lot of French vs English sentiments throughout the whole town.
My cousin was suspended because he cut his hair too short (school had recently made a rule that hair couldn't be shorter than a number 3 cutter). Worst part was they expected him to stay suspended until his hair was the allowed length. Wass pointed out that this was ridiculous, but decision wasn't changed for at least three days.

After I left school my brother told me that 2 girls were found doing [substances] in the toilets - on the same day that David Cameron was visiting.
Note: this was 2016 and the day before the EU referendum.
High school that I went to as a student. The year I graduated the gym teacher (who was also the girls basketball coach and always had the rumors of "did he f**k so and so) was promoted to Assistant Principal. I return from college 4 years later to work there as a TA and the Gym teacher/AP is being transferred to another school because he was caught f*****g a guidance counselor (both of them married). They were caught by a school janitor while doing it in her office after hours.
your work keeping places clean is very important sir

It turned out 20 years later that he WAS grooming and sexually abusing her from 14-18, getting her pregnant and forcing her to have an abortion. She pressed charges and it went to trial. The POS got a minimal sentence, but she got what she wanted, for the truth to come out about him and his abuse (he had been forced out of teaching after she graduated). She courageously waived her right to privacy and told her story to empower teen girls to speak up, not to be bullied into silence.

Load More Replies...There were very few discipline problems at my school (1970s), but a major incident was when a guy in my year burned down the gym. It was an old, wooden building, and I think the governors had to pretend they weren't ecstatic, as they had wanted to be rid of it for years. There was no suggestion they had put him up to it.
Things have changed... when I was in high school, there was a whole lot of "which teacher knocked that girl up?" Or, in a fresh twist, the 16-year-old who knocked up the married 33-year-old drama teacher. Her husband actually stayed with her and raised the baby as his. No giant turds. Just... a lot of s*x that was in the grey area of legality because age of consent was 14. Yes, there's the power dynamic that should make it illegal, but nobody cared about that in the 90s.
A few years ago we got a call that there'd been an incident at the highschool, that was attached to my kids elementary school, and there would be no school that day. One of the janitors had died of a heart attack, while working. However, my aunt, who was a highschool teacher, told us the full story. The janitor was found that morning, in the music room, with a piece of a stand sticking out of his side. That same janitor, had a few days before, got beat up by one of the band girls older brothers, but the girl refused to tell any adults what she'd told her brother, so the janitor kept his job. The police said, he must've had a heart attack, or passed out, and happened to land on the music stand in the wrong way.

Hmmm. The biggest scandal at my school was either the two kids who bought an ounce of weed from an undercover cop while in school uniform a couple of hundred meters away from the school, or the art/gym teacher who broke a kid's eye socket by throwing a cricket ball into his face. Actually, wait, no. It was the priest who got caught diddling kids from the attached primary school.
Our HS had several! My form tutor was arrested for child pornography offences. Another teacher was investigated for exam cheating and inappropriate student relationships. He later moved counties, and ended up moving a 16 year old former student in. He was in his 40s. And then the visiting vicar was accused of child offences, set himself alight in his car.
