Someone’s personality is formed by a lot of different things: their behavior, social attitudes, what they believe in and other things. It is influenced by our environment and how we react to it. Most often a personality is constant and we can even predict what a person would like or how they would react to an unknown thing because they follow a specific pattern.

Personality is a complex concept, however, some people tend to simplify it and choose one thing to base it on. It may become annoying, at least according to the experience of redditors who responded to Kandiblu’s question “What’s something that people turn into their whole personality?”

The thread became quite popular with over 58k people upvoting it and almost 44k of them joining in. These are some of the annoying personalities based on one thing that most people found very annoying. Do you agree with them? Which ones that you find unbearable weren’t in this list? Let us know in the comments!

And I am the opposite! I do have OCD (officially diagnosed), but I don‘t care if things are organized or not.

Oooh, I hate this!!! My sister developed OCD at the ripe old age of nine, and it shattered our whole family’s world. I won’t give details, for her privacy, but the short version is that she was hospitalized for being su*cidal three times in the next ten years. She mostly has it under control now, and has told me some of the stuff that she was battling back then, that I wasn’t privy to. Not that she had to. She went from a happy, bubbly, normal 8-year-old girl to a shell shocked husk in less than a year. Perfectionism, even anxiety-induced perfectionism, is NOT OCD!!!! *Rant over*

My daughter was recently diagnosed w OCD. It's soul crushing bc I know she's had it for quite some time. We kept thinking it was anxiety her therapist and psychiatrist as well. It all makes sense now. She's exhausted from her brain constantly on attack. Her compulsion is non stop talking about how sad and miserable she is. She's lost every single friend. It's just me and her dad and her boyfriend but I think he's causing more pain than relief. We're fighting it head on trying everything we can. It's horrible watching my baby struggle this hard and not being able to fix it. The guilt is overwhelming at times. So glad to hear your sister is doing better that gives me some hope.

So true. Ocd or symptoms of it have only little to do with being organized. Needing to check the door even when you know you did it already or really _really_ wanting to touch handrails in a certain order before going down the steps - those are ocd symptoms and even then it doesn't mean you have the actual disorder. You neat freaks, don't steal words from other people.

The one I remember my brother doing was touching the back of dining chairs eight times every time he went past them and I (at the time 8 years old) couldn't understand why he couldn't 'snap out of it'. He never had any compulsions that involved organization- his room was a mess for example, and he never washed his hands obsessively either. People need educate themselves more before they give themselves a 'label' as it makes it harder for those with a diagnosis.

I DO have OCD (actually diagnosed, take medicine, doesn't work all the time) and OCD can be so messy! My bedroom is a mess, but if you move anything, I will flip. It's exactly where I need it. Whatever it is.

OCD should not be glamourized or glorified. Being neat and organized is different from having OCD. We once had a resident with OCD and the poor woman was so broken. She will keep calling her relatives up to 40 times in a day when her obsession would kick in that she needs to remind them to send her check. She always tells us she is so exhausted by her OCD but she cannot help it and she keeps apologizing for the things she did that she has no control of. For people with OCD it is not fun and they are not even proud of it. OCD drives them to the ground.

Doesn't seem like many people know the difference between OCD and OCPD (the latter having to do with needing everything neat and orderly as well as having control over things and situations) They are two very different disorders.

This! I have OCPD and I can't stand it when people tell me to "stop being so OCD". That's not my diagnosis, it's not a personality trait and those with OCD can't just stop their symptoms. OCPD is exhausting enough, I can't even imagine what it's like for someone with OCD.

I have OCD. Contamination and most naturally, "Symmetry". I don't give a damn f**k how messy things are, I need them to be symmetrical. Sometimes if there are guests at our house, and I arrange something, they'll be like "Oh wow your parents are so lucky to have a daughter like you! I don't do it unlike some people to gain appreciation. What some people don't understand that OCD doesn't always come alone. My mind is filled with violent (sometime se*ual )thoughts about the people I love most, and it's slowly killing me inside. OCD is dangerous, not something to be proud of.

This display is neither from OCD or keeping things organized. Don't act like just because they're in a row that this is organization. They aren't all turned the same way. Lol. I'm definitely compulsive about organization and how things look but OCD is about so much more. I don't have to touch doorknobs x amount of times, do things at the same time everyday, etc., etc.

While most people found these things they mentioned annoying and in some cases they even expressed fear seeing someone so obsessed about just one thing, the people who always bring up the same topic in every conversation might not be doing it on purpose.

Bored Panda reached out to Denise Marigold, an Associate Professor and Chair of Social Development Studies at the Renison University College in Waterloo, Canada to learn more about this.

When I say that, a shocking amount of people assume that I’m American with Norwegian heritage. There are so many americans making their «viking heritage» their whole personality, butchering the norse faith and fighting with actual Norwegians over the correct way to make a traditional dish and the spelling and usage of «skål» (cheers). It’s so f**king horrible to watch. It’s like being mocked.

I'm half Irish, and there's people I've spoke to that are in the US and found out they are maybe like.. one tenth Irish, but they make jokes like "haha us ginger leprechauns" .. I don't really mind, but please. You're American, not Irish. Same way that I wouldn't say I'm fully Irish or fully Romanian, I'm half and half, yes, but I'm British. Edit: I don't wanna say don't be proud of your heritages, I certainly am, I've been learning Romanian and Irish, make Irish and Romanian foods, etc. But I would never say I'm FROM those countries, just that my ancestors are.

My mother was an English immigrant, so there's actual stuff my family does, or says in a certain way, that I later found out isn't a usual American thing. So for me, it's more like discovering there's hidden English culture stuff that I didn't know about. Kind of like Easter eggs in the game of Life. But I'd never tell an actual person from England or anywhere else how their culture works, that's just rude.

Honest to god, it's hard to believe, but I DO believe it! I'm 53, and I was shocked to learn people acted similarly in the decades before me. I NEVER thought people would be still acting that way by now, except maybe like 4 crazy people across the whole state. How naive I was. Setting aside how awful it is, I just can't even understand their logic. Are they mentally challenged? I have no other explanation.

For some reason 'viking' has become a noun, when it started out as a verb. To go into viking - drage i viking - was to travel, and mayby plunder and rape and pillage a bit, you know, just in good sports, though, but the rest of the year they could be peaceful farmers of some degree at home. Women in this age had a great degree of freedom unknown to many women of the same time. They had to be able to run the home/house/farm both economically, and agriculturally and still be able to defend it. They could also choose to divorce their husband.

Sometimes when you're seen as being good at your job, you feel valued and that means you want that to be who you are. In a limited amount it's healthy, but if you feel inconsequential in other aspects of your life, that good feeling can get you to pour your whole identity into work. Plus you spend time with people there so they're the people you get to know.

She explained to us that it’s not unusual for people to focus their attention on one thing, like a goal or interest. The professor explains why it happens, “When you get absorbed in a goal, it can be like a flow state, where everything else can disappear while one becomes pleasantly engrossed in what they are doing.”

When you get into something with high concentration, “Other thoughts and feelings that are irrelevant to the topic get automatically inhibited. This can be adaptive because it facilitates goal progress and freedom from distractions and conflicts. When people do this well, they get a lot of enjoyment out of it.”

The more you know about the real, quantifiable, testable ways in which the cosmos works, the more wondrous and profound it becomes, and it becomes extremely difficult to lend any credence to the idea that a distant planet’s position against the background of stars could conceivably have any notable effect. Astrology was a sincere and earnest attempt to understand the universe and our place in it before we had the tools to do so, and, like phlogiston, the ether, the four humours, the four elements, miasmas, epicycles, geocentrism, bloodletting and phrenology, needs to be retired to history.

Yes, it needs to be retired and quickly. We can't afford the luxury of fantasies anymore. We have the capacity to destroy the planet (and we're doing a pretty good job of it) and people need to separate what's real from what's not.

They literally sell something you can get for pretty cheap in a normal store for like, 100s of dollar. I remember seeing plain black fishnet stockings being sold on gucci. Something you can buy for cheap and still be good quality... (you'd almost think the fabric would be made of something indestructible...)

I've encountered some people, when I moved to a different town - they will only befriend you, if you wear a certain brand of clothes. Otherwise, you're an outcast. So, yes, I was an outcast, which was fine with me because I met some genuinely nice people.

I don't know if it's just because I come from a low socioeconomic background but I have not encountered this, apart from at school. Growing up in the 2000s, there were people who would 'have' to wear Volcom, or Roxy or other surf brands, but they seemed to grow out of it by the time we finished school. As an adult I have only seen adults on tv that are brand obsessed, which I am very grateful for.

In many cases it's a 'wanna be'. I truly love and appreciate beautiful things and craftsmanship but the best don't shout about themselves. Wearing clothes and accessories with logos is simple advertising. They should pay me to do that! The problem is that thes wannabes don't know what is quality. They don't understand the difference between high quality and cost. Sad really.

Depending on the level of absorption, this kind of state may be either beneficial to a person or interfere with their normal life. Dr. Denise Marigold reveals what positive and negative results it can bring, “Absorption in a goal or interest may also serve as a way to get relief from unwanted thoughts and feelings. If people are doing this to block out awareness of unwanted thoughts and feelings, they also tend to lack awareness of the effects their behavior has on others around them (e.g., how boring and lonely it can be for others to be around them when they have gone to their obsessive ‘happy place’).“

35 Things People Embody So Deeply That Their Entire Personality Revolves Around It, As Shared In This Online Group Being sick/ sickly. I've always had very poor health, and in high school and early college, as my conditions worsened, I didn't like that I couldn't live a "normal" life, so I kind of leaned into it. Always joked about how sickly I was while secretly hating myself for not being able to "keep up" with my peers. Some maturing and some guidance from my mother has helped me to learn that, yes, poor health sucks, and yes, I can't always do the things that healthy people can, but that doesn't have to control my identity. Doing far better now, learning what my true limits are and how to work with them!

A lot of chronically ill people (including myself) talk a lot about their illness or symptoms not to get sympathy but to try to get people to understand that their lives are different and maybe other people could try a little empathy rather than annoyance that others have lived that are different than them.

but sometimes you just have to complain. sometimes people won't listen to you when you explain you physically can't do certain things due to disability or illness. sometimes you just have to get the chronic pain of living off your chest. don't let able bodied people tell you you're talking too much about your disability and making them uncomfortable. they can never understand how much agony you're truly in, especially if you have an invisible disability. sometimes people like us get mocked for standing weird or being really tired because people don't understand us. sorry to suddenly vent y'all, I just get a bit upset when I hear things like "disability doesn't control identity"

For some of us it is a major part of our life. I had a genetic illness that nearly killed me. It's generally not even bad, but for me it manifested in a bad way. I had to change careers. It changed me physically, psychologically and even mentally. So while I feel I'm just living with it now it can come up and be part of who I am in any conversation. If that's how people cope that's their right.

But I wouldn't say it's a healthy coping mechanism. To be fair, I'm not chronically ill (I think), but I got other issues and in general making once limitaciones once entire personality, just makes one feel worse about them.

I'm not chronically ill, I have disabilities though. My wife is chronically ill and she refuses to make her life about it. I realize that people want to be heard, but the tendency of people with chronic illness is to detail every trial over and over again and it makes not only your life all about the illness, but also your relationships are now all about your illness. I'm happy to be supporting, but some relationships are really hard when everything is about them. Let's make a good memory together. Let's discover something together. Let or relationship be about the time we spend together. I know it's hard to get away from the subject of health, and we can talk about that too, but move away from it and your life won't be defined by it.

The majority of people with chronic illnesses do not detail every trial over and over again. We don't tell nearly everything we could be saying. Your wife will realise that even though she refuses to make her life about her chronic illness, her chronic illness will make her life about it. That's the very nature of chronic illnesses. The things you used to be able to do, are not things you can do anymore. People with chronic illnesses need to find a way to rearrange their lives so that they can relatively function. That is, ultimately, making your live about your chronic illness.

It's a problem when one leans on their health problems as a way to garner sympathy. A certain family member wont shut up about her health problems, while at the same time brags about how tough they are. She monopolizes conversations and even gets jealous whenever someone else has an acute medical condition that pulls the attention and sympathy away from her. I have many chronic health problems. They come up in conversation, of course. But I dont detract from other people's ailments or make myself seem better because I'm so much tougher than others. That's so obnoxious!

If they "leans on their health problems as a way to garner sympathy" maybe it's because they need sympathy and have found no other way to get it. I have one too in my family, she used to detail her illnesses to me. The day I began to give her my sympathy for her difficulties in life, fears, anxiety etc., she slowly stopped talking so much about her physical illness. Now, with me she casually mention it but it seems to be not a big deal at all anymore. She was so insecure and was so afraid about being judged for the sympathy she needed sometimes for really small things in her opinions she talked about her physical illness to get some. That's common psychophobia. And for most of my family she was right. I'm happy she's at least able to be honest with me know and sad that her mother as an example will never had that chance because of her judgemental behaviour.

It forced me to reflect on what is 100% important to me and what makes me happy and showed me I'm not scared of death just sad for who I would leave behind.

Sony isn't a small company and they are pretty shitty too... but we should never be like "YEah! Disney should own everything so that they can do whatever they want and further strangle the entertainment industry!". Stop rooting for Disney people! Some people might get annoyed that there is nothing else to talk about with that person because they will force the same topic on you. You will have to deal with that by assessing the situation and your relationship with that person.

Dr. Denise Marigold suggests that “In some relationships you might feel comfortable being completely honest and direct and saying something like ‘It’s nice that you are enthusiastic about that! Unfortunately it’s not something I can really get into. Because it’s hard for me to engage in that topic and feel connected with you, I find myself losing interest quickly.’ If you feel the need to be less direct, you can still aim to validate their interest while steering the conversation towards other topics you can both engage in.”

All things that happened in the classroom stayed in here when i leave the room, it doesn't mean i don't care, pay attention to problems or give time to talk other things that may be happening. I just don't carry this things home. (Of course I'm talking normal school things, saddly i live and teach in a city where some teenagers have a thought life and school is the only safe place in their lifes), but everyone may have a bad day, and second they are kids and sometimes they don't have proper ways to let stuff out. I really admire adult people who sits at home in their parents basement looking at Youtube videos and reading blogs about conspiracy theories and fully believe that they know something no one else know, that they are somehow more educated than doctors, scientists and such. The confidence that they have about being right no matter, even when presented with facts, is at such a high level I wish I had even half of it.

So if someone is really focused on a particular interest, it’s just their happy place and they feel comfortable and passionate talking about it. Also, if you get bored of talking about it or listening to it, there are nice ways to try and explain to the person without making them feel like they are a boring interlocutor.

35 Things People Embody So Deeply That Their Entire Personality Revolves Around It, As Shared In This Online Group HERBALIFE. having to literally explain to people that it’s an MLM is so frustrating. They prey on small towns, create “nutrition shops” that sell $9 shakes when it’s literally just Herbalife and is helping the owner barely break even. Happened in my small town, then out of nowhere 3 other “branches” popped up in the revolving small towns. (Which basically means the owner conned 3 more into joining so that they can get their profit). There’s a documentary out there called like One in a Million or something that breaks down the pyramid and how little people at the bottom are actually making. They also show that the shakes are nothing more than liquid laxative, so of COURSE you’re losing weight. Also, keto.

Herbalife is "nothing more than liquid laxative"? Which means, one is only losing water. That's not healthy - and, people still buy them.🙈

Upvote for "also keto" We are going to have a huge health crisis, people truly believe to their core that they can live on cheese and bacon and it is superior to a variety of fruits and vegetables. Very few people study keto enough to know they need variety, yet preach how healthy they are. It is insanity.

This really bugs me as it was never meant to be something you stay on for long because it is so unhealthy without the variety. I have a cousin who has had to be on a keto diet for 25 years because she had such extreme epilepsy and it was the ONLY thing that helped to stabilise her seizures but it has meant that she has other health conditions because of the diet. Then I had a friend start the diet after having lap band surgery and I could see she was misinterpreting it but I had to bite my tongue because she doesn't take criticism well, even if it is constructive.

Any time I see Herbalife mentioned I need to comment this (apologies if you've seen me say this before) HERBALIFE IS NOT VEGAN. I had a friend sell it and was trying to talk me into buying. I have a severe dairy allergy that results in such horrible vomiting the blood vessels in and around my eyes pop and I've torn the lining of my esophagus before. I asked her if the protein powder was dairy free and she wasn't sure so she asked the person who was a level above her and they told it her was. So she sold me a canister. It was not dairy free. They use whey protein, whey is a dairy product. I got ridiculously sick, popped the eye blood vessels, and l to drink Pedialyte and Gatorade for days to rehydrate me and I couldn't eat anything. I complained directly to their corporate and they said that since it says on their container it contains whey they are not liable. F*ck Herbalife. F*CK my former friend. Never buy anything if you can't read a copy of the label of ingredients of yourself.

Sorry that happened to you. If a person is going to sell a product going into someones body then they need to understand all the ingredients. That has to be scary and extremely stressful when this kind of reaction happens to you or anyone.

This is really bad in the US because both parties are fine with the status quo. They can blame every failing on the other guy and their supporters love it because it means that they weren't wrong. As long as you accept the excuse "I did everything I could it's the other side's fault." You're falling for this trap. Every time your guy trashes an idea just because the other guy said it, you're falling for their trap.

Political parties have become nothing more than a smoke screen distraction to place false value on people's ability to vote. Every single country on this planet is run by the wealthy, period. The worst of the political extremists are fully aware of that if they have any intelligence at all. As long as the average citizen is distracted by playing "good guys vs. bad guys" then they won't be a threat to its greedy, unqualified, power hungry leaders who are all working together to stay rich and in power. Every country, every politician.

I've been a great fan of Star Trek most of my life, but for me, it's been more about science and "the final frontier." I won't even talk about it anymore because these days when I do all I get is, "omg, have you ever met any of them? I've been to 25 cons and met Shatner 18 times!" or something to that effect. I'm sorry, but who freaking cares? I'm supposed to waste time caring about a person who does not even care about science themselves most of the time? When did we lose our way people?

Especially when it becomes some kind of a loyalty contest. Like, "oh yeah? Well I've been to 27 cons and I've met Shatner AND Stewart, Brent Spiner said he liked me, and I speak Klingon!" Who tf turned it into a contest? I love Star Trek, and have had my own cheap knock-off uniform for Halloween, but I also have so many other interests! I don't see why they don't get bored with it at some point. Learning about warp drive theory was pretty cool, tho.

I've started saying "I'm sober" instead of "I don't drink alcohol". When you tell people you don't drink, they argue with you and assume they can get you to eventually, or they belittle your religion/beliefs. When you say you're sober, however, they assume you're a recovering alcoholic and they leave it alone.

I used to half-joke about this but secretly feel it regarding music. Then I realized I was just being a d**k. People don’t have to like the same things. In fact, most of my growth as a person has been me realizing I was “just being a d**k” about things. 🤔

And it's turning into real ageist hate. I've had kids come up to me saying "you've never done anything for the environment that I'll have to live with." Child, I've had solar panels on my house for decades. I've done a laundry list of things to reduce my footprint. What have you actually done? I get it, it wasn't enough. You can hate me when you actually solve one environmental problem. They think that everything will change because they "care" about the environment. I care and have cared. Caring isn't enough. Let me know when you've fixed something my generation couldn't. I sincerely hope they do, but it will take more than caring. It will take sacrifice. Most people aren't going to sacrifice.

Amen. I lived on a protest camp for 4 years and gave up a chance of having a career to do so. I'm not going to let anyone younger than me tell me I didn't do enough, especially as when i was a teenager caring about the environment wasn't cool at all, and I got teased mercilessly over the fact i cared.

being IN the military is subsuming the self into the whole for the most part. so your higher ups demand your individualism be put aside. it becomes your whole personality as you're indoctrinated to Allow and wholeheartedly embrace that aspect. so kinda no s**t military service destroys the self to a large extent.

Most people go in really early in life. When it's all you've done, what else are you supposed to talk about? It's stranger that it bothers this person. As if someone's willingness to join the service makes them feel inferior.

Yeah. There are some really courageous people that put their lives on the line in the service and deserve respect. But I also know a few potato peelers who never saw combat of any sort but act like they deserve to be treated with more respect than the cowardly civilians they work with now. I respect the troops, but have had to carry the extra weight of a few slackers at work before that I have a hard time believing ever did anything to help anyone, in or outside of their time. Wearing that hat every day isn't a good reason to slack off in the civilian world while people with the same job are busting their ass right beside them.

I don't know how people pick a genre and stay in it like it's their whole identity. It's okay to like goth symphonic metal, new age and pop music. I don't understand what's so shocking about not "looking" the part of someone who listens to a certain type of music. My folks do this all the time.

Exactly, I can go from Pop, to Swing/Jazz, to Heavy Metal, to Kpop, to Dance music, to classical, and all over the place. Music is an amazing thing with so many genres and artists to discover, some people really need to at least try to broaden their horizons, but at the same time, it's ok to like what you like.

Omg my husband and I got a solar panels put in during the pandemic made by Tesla now my husband is in the list to get the Tesla truck. He will not stop talking about it. I had to tell him I had enough. I can't stand Elon musk. I went along w the solar roof bc money wise it makes so much sense as well as environmentally and where I live the electricity gets knocked out once a month. I live in a state park people roll their cars on the road I live on bc it's a densely wooded narrow road w no street lights. They're constantly knocking down poles. If it gets windy the trees do it. Now I don't have to worry. During hurricane Sandy we didn't have power for three days bought a generator but that's a pain.

Lived there for a couple of years. It's not great. It's dirty AF, way over crowded, and a major tourist trap. Not to mention, the cost of living was insane.

Or, even more appropriate, a drunk person crapping on a park bench. Sorry for the disgusting image, but I lived there for about 15 years, and that was more of an "Only in New York!" kind of moment. :)

Although it doesn't send me into an asthmatic attack, it's still sickly smelling (think new car smell with vanilla air freshener) and not healthy. I'm not sure what the risks are to those that are just around it, but I do know vapers can get "popcorn lung".

Thank you. So do I. I really don't understand all the hype of being so much against vaping or pro vaping. For someone that used to never smoke anything in their life, of course vaping is a step down, it's a bad health choice. For someone, like me, that used to smoke 20 cigarettes pro days, vaping is an improvement. I can feel it. I don't cough anymore. I'm breathing better. I would never advice my kid to start vaping. But for everyone that struggles to quit smoking and so they give up trying, I can say they can give it a try.

Similar personalities that are compatible is fine. No other interests than their partner is problematic, unless folks around them find that a relief. To quote 19th century Samuel Butler: “It was very good of God to let [Thomas] Carlyle and Mrs. Carlyle marry one another, and so make only two people miserable and not four."

But you don't get to decide for others. My husband is my best friend. We do almost everything together. We even work in the same place. It's not that we have no interests outside of each other, I just really think almost everything is better when we do it together. No one else will put up with me and my comments, anyway. I've heard others complain about how we "can't" do anything without each other. Not true. I just like him more than I like you. Neither of us are on our first marriage and we spent a LONG time with each other before getting married.

You do say, though, that you have interests outside of each other so although you socialise together you are still individuals, albeit individuals that are very happy in each others company. And that's really good! I think it's where individuality expired that the problems start.

Lost a male friend once because after he started dating the love of his life would even answer his phone and say "hi dear, here we are!" Totally blocked away any chance to talk with my friend without her making it all about them. Lost the male friend completely because he would let girlfriend literally talk for both of them. He would sit there and not take part of social life anymore while she would talk and talk and talk...

Having a shared life is good - but you are also individuals who think, feel, act independently. Every time I encounter couples who have a "hive mind" it seems to me that in truth one person is controlling, speaking and thinking for them both. The other is either quiet or answers "my partner says/thinks" when asked for their own thoughts - which is very problematic.

I appreciate them for being very utility-focused. They are practical and never really put on an act, such as trying to be imposing, extreme, luxurious or cutting-edge. It's just a decent, pragmatic car. Also, there's a stereotype about Subarus being the preferred car for lesbians and I don't know where that came from but it just really seems fitting.

I don't think it's true. I'm not a heavy coffee drinker, not anymore since I have graduated, but for me not having at least one coffee in the morning leads to have a bit of headache during the day. I'm also an Italian (that lives in Italy) and so probably coffee is something really normal in our daily culture. And there are many scientific studies that says that a chronic and moderate use of coffee is a good health choice (moderate, that means not more than 3/4 espresso daily). https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmc1207172&ved=2ahUKEwjLmIKYuJD3AhUDt6QKHc6-AbYQFnoECC4QAQ&usg=AOvVaw1L612_j4Mi-wJb9_Lk6_S_

YES! Before all these fancy coffees came in (I'm not knocking them, nothing wrong at all with having something a little fancy if you like) it was easy to get a little cafertiere when out. Many places had a pot of filter coffee ready too. Now you don't find that anywhere. I need a new filter coffee maker, but all the shops have these fancy pod machines. Not the same at all. At work, it is common for someone to nip out at lunch with coffee orders. I use filter coffee bags as closest to what I want. Other day, we were to busy to nip out so I made everyone coffee the way I like - some liked it.

I can’t help but think of people who move money to make money as parasites. I have more respect for any janitor or food service worker than I do an investor. No one mows a lawn or bandages a wound is going to ruin the whole economy.

But think about it this way. Those investing are the people who are pouring money into the economy to keep it running. Without investors, you get an economic depression.

There is the ad for... I don't even know which trading company. "You are 500 trader if you see this (picture of stock price) when your dream car pass you. When you see this (another stock price) when you think about where to eat." No, I want to live my life, I don't want to see stock prices, I want to enjoy the design of that car, I want to enjoy great food, I want to spend day in nature or at pool...

These people are the most aggressive people I've encountered. I'm happy that you made millions doing it and that you say you are happy, but I'll pass. I was never interested in stocks and I'm not about to start now.

Yup. Fell for that. Paid $1200 for a video card from a scalper on eBay so I could do some mining. Shortly after, Bitcoin crashed. I knew it was a risk, but I was out of work and was desperate for some income.

This isn't uncommon. Communicating through reference is how people have worked for years. Dedicating songs, reciting poems, recreating scenes from movies. You're just annoyed because you don't like the memes they like.

Well. Horses can kind of take up your whole life. They cost a lot, need constant training and attention and horse people need plenty of education. Not much room for anything else if you own and ride horses.

The roleplay ones can get annoying if OT or not following the consent rule of roleplaying, but that is not what is being referred here. This is like people who act mean if their name says they're an a*hole, leave out things if their name says they hate it, or have names like "pm_me_tiddy" who harass people for noods and send gore if they don't get them.

Travelling is fine and enjoying travel is fine. It's more those people, who when you say to them you've been too [insert country here] they'll immediately look smug and say "that's very touristy, you need to see the real [insert country here]".

Plus traveling style varies and evolves. A relative bragged that she stayed in high-end hotels on her honeymoon in Europe. Years and a different life later, she was in love with cozy B&Bs and country walks within driving distance.

But telling me the highlights of your latest trip and showing me pictures and letting me live vicariously through you a bit? Sure, go ahead!
