How can you cut into something like that? It's a masterpiece. Plus SO cute!
“Something I Made” was created in 2009 and has captured the hearts of over 2.9 million people worldwide! Among its many admirers are Karla and Fabricio, a Brazilian couple who decided to leave their regular full-time jobs to start the Rebordação project in Lisbon, Portugal. They create modern and unapologetic embroideries, and one of their pieces made it onto this list! You can also find Rebordação's work featured on Bored Panda - check them out by clicking here and here.
We got in touch with the artists to learn all about embroidery and the inspiration behind their beautiful work. Keep scrolling to read the full interview!

Cemeteries aren't to look scary. It's just films that made it that. They should be beaitiful places to remember loved ones and not be portrayed as spooky and this gate should be ddcorated with angels and flowers, not bones and skulls.
I see your point, but to be honest I'd kind of love to be buried in a spooky place like that. Plus it is important to note that this appears to be a fairly small cemetery and perhaps the circumstances here were a bit different than those of larger cemeteries. Maybe it is a private cemetery, if that is a thing? I'm just guessing though. However, in most situations I agree that they should be bright and happy, a place of comfort where you can feel closer to those you've lost.
Load More Replies...“Embroidery is common in our homeland, and we both learned the basics as kids,” Karla and Fabricio shared. “We have always been passionate about this art form. When we started this project (Rebordação), our goal was to avoid traditional ‘grandma’ motifs like flowers and nature scenes. Right from the beginning, we aimed to embroider fun, subversive, and thought-provoking pieces, using irony and sarcasm to express our perspectives.”
I Made This Blouse In White A While Ago But Decided To Remake It In Black (Both Skirt And Blouse Made And Patterned By Me)
A proper Edwardian lady would, of course, have suitable black pieces in her wardrobe, as black was still worn for mourning. Your blouse has lovely details!

These Are The Dragons I Crochet. What Color Should I Use To Make New Dragons?
If you take a look at Rebordação’s embroideries, you'll see that they’re unlike the usual grandma-style ornaments. Their creations are truly unique and stand out with a special touch of creativity. The artists shared that their inspiration mainly comes from the 'daily dramas,' which they find to be relatable to many people. “We also draw a lot of inspiration from pop culture, memes, and political cartoons,” Karla and Fabricio added.
Whale Shark Flask (And Cups)! One Of My Favorite Creations Even After A Year
Pretty Stoked On This Mandala Tie Dye I Made!
For a minute there you would think you are when you see this for the first time, like “hey who spiked my drink???”
Load More Replies...No way that is real. I’ve made dozens of tie-dyed clothes over the years and this is impossible. 1) someone this “talented “and experienced in tie-dying would know how to spell tie-dye properly (hyphen). 1) the tag is still white HUGE CLUE 3) tie-dying is all about dye bleeding around the elastic bands, string, etc. there is NO WAY THE MANDALAS would have clean, crisp, white lines of demarcation. And it would be UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE to for all the mandala petals to have the same exact color, hue, and tint intensity. Especially on the lighter tones like yellow. No way. Dude is trying to pass off a photo-shopped image.
I was looking at it and thinking back to doing tie dye as a kid. No way could it be made that symmetrical and perfect
Load More Replies...I Made This Forest Spirit
While Rebordação’s embroideries are unconventional, the artists are trying to strike a balance between preserving traditional embroidery techniques and incorporating innovative ideas into their work. They do so by embracing experimentation without disregarding the timeless lessons of classic embroidery. “While we may incorporate techniques like watercolors into our pieces, our goal is for our art to be recognized as embroidery with a modern twist, not simply as 'something' with embroidery elements.”
I Made This Crown From Paper For A Hat Party!

Blueberry Cheesecake!!!!
if it ain't real it oughta be. Yum. Mouth watering over here
Load More Replies...Click the little link, bottom left below the picture, go to the reddit page, then click the link to see the original photo and recipe. For some reason this image is a weird photoshopped version that doesn't look real, but the original is a very real, and yummy looking blueberry cake.
Here is the image that inspired the artwork and the recipe to go along with it; https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodPorn/comments/aqkgde/oc_blueberrylemon_cheesecake/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1

Load More Replies...Embroidery is an ancient craft that still matters a lot today. According to Rebordação, it holds a unique significance in today's world. “Embroidery stands out due to its unique medium. The time and attention to detail give more significance to the message or art we want to convey. For instance, we feel that an embroidered phrase carries more 'weight' than a printed one.” As for the future, the artists are confident that this art form will endure. “We see more people taking up embroidery, and other artists incorporating it into mixed media pieces. In a world where everyone seeks speed and immediacy, embroidery offers a breath of fresh air, a moment to slow down and say, ‘Wait, let me take my time.’”

For those who want to start embroidering, Karla and Fabricio have some advice for you! “Get familiar with the materials and first learn the backstitch. This stitch is simple and highly versatile, allowing you to create various things, which is extremely motivating for beginners. And remember, you're not a robot or a machine; imperfections are what make each handmade work unique.”

I owned one of these back in the early 70s as a kid. It was like a prank can thing. At the time, sort of realistic looking fake coke / fake barf stuff was pretty new and novel. It's hard to remember but as best I can recall, I think the one pictured above looks a little better than the one I had.
