Save Your Money: 45 Dreamy Destinations That Look Nothing Like What The Influencers Told You They Would
Social media has become such an integral part of our daily lives that we sometimes forget a simple truth while we’re busy scrolling through our feeds—what we’re looking at is an expertly edited, highly-stylized version of things. Real life is often far more chaotic and messy.
Makeup artist Keilys Gonzalez shared a video that went massively viral on Facebook. In it, we’re shown how influencers present picturesque travel destinations versus what you’re likely to see when you show up in person. The reality is very different, and you realize just how important perspective, editing, and the lack of a crowd can be. Scroll down for the side-by-side comparison.

Load More Replies...I'm not sure why these ones are in here. I don't think most people actually believe that people are hanging off a cliff without knowing that the ground is like 2 feet away.. I'd love to take one of these with my husband though, would be a fun one to frame 😄
Well, every other year there's news of some roofer plunging to their death because they do exactly that, just on a highrise's roof... so if there was no floor right below there, there'd still be people doing that, just by far not so many.

So...truth is he was only going to break his tail bone had he fallen. That break actually hurts more then a bruised ego if just showed the truth.
Bored Panda wanted to learn a bit more about the effect that obsessively following influencers' posts can have on people's well-being, so we reached out to Sarah M. Coyne, PhD, a professor of human development in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University. Coyne also has a blog on Psychology Today, 'The Right Media Mindset.'
As influencers' posts on social media can create the illusion that their lives are 'perfect' and full of adventure, we were curious about what can happen if the audience fully buys into the story that they're telling.
"Individuals are likely to compare their lives to others on social media," the professor told us.
"When posts are inauthentic or inaccurate or only focus on the positive, an upward social comparison is likely to occur, increasing the likelihood of mental health problems," she said.
The first pic looks like a video game with very bad graphics, the second one seems nice and spooky.
The first one looks shopped the second one looks like from a video game. Sons of the swamp or something 😀
Load More Replies...When I was in Rome a few summers ago I seriously heard an older woman bítching to ger friend, "I was told there weren't going to be that many people here, that's why I came in September!" STFU, Lady! Not many people in Rome? 🤣
Load More Replies...I did quite a lot of Rome sightseeing late in de evening, it was great ! The fountain was beautifully lighted, and almost no one there
Load More Replies...And you know the only way they got the first shot was by acting entitled and bullying everyone else out of the frame
3/4 of this list is just expecting other people not to go to the same place you're going....
i went here, early morning on a weekday and it was perfectly fine
It depends on the time you show uo there, the earlier, the better
Bored Panda was also concerned about where the line is when someone should start being concerned that influencers' posts are affecting their behavior and decisions a bit too much.
Professor Coyne noted that we should be aware of our daily surfing habits.
"When you are checking daily and letting your world view be shaped by influencers, or feel like you have to 'check in' with their site before making a decision—you probably have gone a little too far!" she said. It's at this point that we should aim to scale back our social media use.
This is just the reality of traveling. You just deal with it. If you’re going to these places just for instagram photo s**t then f**k you and who cares! Sorry, but most of us don’t give one s**t about your instagram photo!
Dumb practice go to popular spots dressing like for a wedding, non sense at all
Baby elephants are really cute. They also weigh several hundred pounds and don't appreciate the size and strength difference.
Firstly, it's the same person and secondly, I don't care about the landscape. I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY WITH BABY ELEPHANTS ANYTIME!!!
The video that Keilys shared on Facebook was a massive hit with internet users around the globe. At the time of writing, it was watched a whopping 57 million times. Moreover, it got 1.3 million reactions, over 17k comments, and was shared 161k times.
It’s a prime example of viral content, and it’s easy to see why it spread like wildfire. On the one hand, you’ve got clips of absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous places. The kinds of locations that you mostly see in movies. On the other hand, you see the harsh contrast from comparing the ‘perfect’ frames with amateur videos. Not only do the locations look less dramatic, but it’s also stunning how regular they can look when there’s a mass of tourists angling for selfies.
Makeup artist Keilys, from Colombia, is very popular on social media. Over 1.2 million people follow her Facebook page and she has another 18.4k fans on Instagram.
There's another photo that shows a long cue of people waiting to take the same damn photo.

Yeah, but this is a really popular kind of pic to take now, and people do it off of any high place (buildings, cliffs, etc.) and lots of people have fallen and died trying to attempt it
Load More Replies...9 billion people, gotta expect some of them to be in the nice places too.
Load More Replies...most of these I've seen are just the number of ppl there being different! it's not horrible!
Yeah... if you're going to a tourist spot and expecting no tourists, while being a tourist yourself, you're in for a hard reality check lol
Load More Replies...Tourist angry that other tourists visit same tourist destination. Leaves one star review: “ Trip ruined. Iceland lied to us. Too many people.”
Do people realy think these spots are never found by anyone but a photoshopping influencer?
The depressing thing is before influencers a lot of these places were relatively unknown. So you could go there and not have to fight crowds. And influencers just make it worse since they just have to get the perfect photo/video and they actively try to shoo people out of the way.
Load More Replies...Any place advertised and known for it's tourism is going to be crowded with people. Just expect it by default and you will never be disappointed.
I recently did this- it's in Vietnam. And whilst the second picture is more realist it was still a really fun thing to do.
It looks like a lot of fun, of course there will be a lot of people but it honestly doesn't look so bad to me.
Load More Replies...Is that a crocodile's head in the foreground in the picture on the left waiting for someone to fall in?
It took me a minute to figure out that those are people. It just looks like bowls of stuff floating around a small creek bed or something. Even knowing that it's people my eyes can't unsee the trees(?) As being regular grass 😅
The viral video that she shared reminded people not to rely just on initial impressions. Overhyping yourself can be one of the worst things that you do before traveling. You’re setting the bar so high, it’s incredibly likely that you’ll end up disappointed, no matter how great your trip actually is. And odds are, the trip won’t be epic either way.
This phenomenon is called Paris Syndrome. It’s an extreme sense of disappointment that many people get when they visit Paris: they had very different expectations for the city and they realized that it’s not all romance, fashion, and croissants. Broadly speaking, the more popular a place is, the more overhyped it becomes, and the more of a letdown it can be for tourists. Sometimes people forget that big cities are noisy and messy while tourist spots are bound to be crawling with hundreds of visitors from abroad. It’s easy to be seduced by a picture-perfect post on Instagram.
it's full of water. You swim the same whether the water below your is 3 feet or 3,000 feet. The latter probably sucks if you drop your car keys but for a person swimming on the surface it doesn't matter at all.
Load More Replies...Is this even the same place? Because there seems the sea from the first picture lacking in the second one.
Does this area dry up regularly, or am I misinterpreting the 2nd pic?
Wondering that too. Can’t tell if it’s the same spot
Load More Replies...Yes, but in the second picture the real water hasn't been replaced with fake water, and the crabs have already finished eating the model.
Load More Replies...Lol, didn’t realize the tide was out. Was trying to figure out why resort staff don’t fish that bike out.

Slightly unrelated, but does anyone else have the desire to be single but have the most humongous bed known to mankind? I don't even roll around in my sleep I just want heaps of comforters and pillows so I can crash at the slightest inconvenience
Ever since I was little i wanted a secret room that would basically just be a huge mattress with tons of fluffy pillows and blankets.
Load More Replies...Did... Did they think the pile of blankets just appeared there naturally?
clearly, it is a different hotel room taken at a different time of day, but ok.
So before you book your tickets, pack your bags, and test out different selfie angles, it’s a smart first step to take the time to do some background research. If your entire trip hinges on visiting a single location that you’ve seen on Instagram, you’re likely to be sorely disappointed. We feel that it's always best to be realistic and then be pleasantly surprised than start off wildly optimistic, only to be let down.
It is. I have not been there but I have been to other places with very blue / clear water that looks like you are on the set of the blue lagoon movie or something similar. It's very cool (IMO). I live near the ocean in WA state but the algae in the water makes it look more of a dark green. I still like the ocean but it is not nearly as pretty. It's also colder here. Swimming in ocean that is like a heated pool is also pretty cool.

Dubai has all kinds of crazy s**t…mostly stuffed into its massive malls. Strange but unique culture.
Look into the place you’re planning on visiting. Check out some photos and videos of the spot from a variety of different perspectives. Read some background material and reviews, not just the official promo material or your fave influencer’s posts. Talk to some of your travel-loving friends and consider contacting a local guide for a quick chat.
This one seems a bit unfair, in a way. The "reality" photo just happened to be taken on a rainy day or a rainy part of the day. It doesn't mean that the location in the photo saying "Reality" is always rainy.
Or higher up, above the clouds, while the dude is IN the clouds.
Load More Replies...This one is just a different time of day and a different type of weather
The social media is taken at first light, before most people are up. You'll notice a lot of "influencer" photos are taken when the sun is first up. I can't imagine traveling someplace just to get up, do the hair, makeup, get the clothes just right, just to go outside for a selfie
It's just rainy and foggy. Not fair. and plus, looks like different place.
Taken at differnt points on the trail, too. Above cloud, below cloud.
I've been there! On this occasion, the social media post is quite accurate.
Yes, just lucky that there is no bush of tourist hands trying to take the same photo from the same angle
Load More Replies...I saw a video of this. The awnings get retracted back when the train signals it is coming through. Awnings / people move away from rails / train passes / awnings / people move back. So the drone shot is just showing what it looks like from above when no train is passing.
It's a still from a video, so in the (moving) video they show exactly that. It's one of those many times where BP just grabs a bunch of pictures throws them at us without looking deeper into it if it even makes sense. It's a shame.

Load More Replies...Well, there's such thing as season. The person may have visited off-season...
If you believe trees are normally purple, you have a problem. They may be some fantastic blooming trees, that are purple for a few days a year, or someone has used a filter.
I have pictures from Japan when the azaleas are blooming: the mountains are covered in shades of pink and white and red. It is surreal while it last.
Load More Replies...Are you allowed to cross on your hands and knees? Or better yet, slither?
so if you want to have the effect of the "pink trees? go to that spot in the SPRING, the Reality is how it looks the rest of the year
Meanwhile, look for other interesting things to do in the area, instead of focusing on the most popular tourist destinations. Learn about the local customs and memorize at least some useful phrases.
Try to focus on what you, yourself, enjoy rather than what would look great posted on Instagram. There’s a certain sense of calm that washes over you when you travel without a camera or leave your phone behind in your hotel room. Selfies are nice… but what endures are the memories of a real adventure, and they require a willingness to embrace the unexpected.
Yeah I was going to say that reality photo looks like an awesome place to go. Obviously the camera angles are different so not sure what the comparison is supposed to prove.
Load More Replies...The underwater waterfall illusion off Mauritius is both real and very well documented. Big surprise = photos vary depending on weather conditions and how calm the surface of the weather is. I'm starting to get fed up with this thread because it seems to trying to hard to 'disprove' every location to the point of the 'reality' ones border on the ones being 'fake'.
Mauritius you say? Ok I gotta go pack my things and move there. Like, forever
Load More Replies...I don't think that's the same spot though. Maybe the same body of water, but the mountain looks to be missing in the second photo. You can't take a picture from a different angle and be mad that you can't see the cool thing from that angle. That's not how that works.
The underwater waterfall in Mauritius is not a true waterfall and I despise how Influencers have perpetrated this false belief. It is actually a natural occurrence and illusion caused by the sand and silt in perpetual movement down the sloping ocean floor: https://theculturetrip.com/africa/mauritius/articles/the-story-behind-mauritius-underwater-waterfall-illusion/?amp=1
These pictures aren't even from the same point. This is a stupid thread.
I’m guessing that it’s a fake cave built into the building.
Load More Replies...Because the first one looks very much like a real place (although the lighting seems unnatural), and the second is a lousy, out of focus picture.
Load More Replies...When you want a cool cave picture but your claustrophobia prevents spelunking.
Once you get past the line, I'm sure the second picture is beautiful as well. Just what happens when you go to a spot like that
The only difference is in the reality picture there's not some shrieking "social media influencer" shouting that everyone is ruining their life if other people get in the shot.
Load More Replies...You can be addicted to nearly anything, including social media. As we've covered on Bored Panda before, you can say that you're dealing with internet or social media addiction if it's taken over your life. If you feel that you've lost the power to stop going online and that you have a constant, massive urge to be, say, on Instagram, you may need to either take a step back or seek a therapist's help.
Used a tripod and time lapse. Stacked the photos and picked the bits without people from each
Load More Replies...Bioluminescence is real. Neither of these photos is a great example of it. But you can find tons of real photos / videos posted by "not influencers'. Sorry you suck at finding it. I've personally seen green off the wake of my aircraft carrier in the Indian Ocean. I haven't seen the blue in person. check out link for a pretty cool video of surfers and bioluminescence. == https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz6ApIUNT3w
I've seen bioluminescence in the Baltic Sea a couple years ago when we went midnight swimming. It was so f*cking amazing!
Load More Replies...Yeah, seems like a cool thing and not a bad photo. When I have seen it, it is so tiny like glitter and moving fast. I don’t know how they got this in their hand
Load More Replies...Phosphorescence/water bioluminescence? Why hasn't anyone commented on this to say what the glowing stuff is?
It's caused by some plankton species, either as a means of defense or as an indicator for some sexytime, kinda like a bird's mating dance.
Load More Replies...a lot of "bioluminescence" i see has been from jellyfish coming to shore, so even if you scoop it up... it might not "glow" pulse you might get "stung"
I was once at a remote beach in Australia in the middle of the night and saw this. It was pitch black with absolutely no artificial light and a calm ocean. What little surf there was would light up blue and even the crests of the small waves there were had this beautiful bright light. Of course we had to splash around in it too.
go into the right waters and they will light up. might be in wrong place
The shadows suggest these photos were taken at quite different times of the day and also may have been taken on different days of the week. Unless you believe the influence bribed someone to clear everyone off the beach, then both pictures are 'reality'.
Agree. I have photos similar to the first one (different location, same principle) and we were honestly the only people there. Because it was very early spring and it was really cold) If you want to take photos of a popular destination without people you need to go off-season and either very early or very late, don't get surprised there are people on the beach in summer
Load More Replies...getting slightly annoyed by the "omg no there are othere tourists here as well" attitude by now. Or wait, thats not what they're thinking ofcourse. THEY have the right to have the whole place for them selfs, the others are just tourists.
I don’t really understand… If you want to find a place to be alone, why look for it on social media?
So being on the stairs vs. up above the stairs at a different time of day. I am beginning to think that this article is more misleading than social media
If this is in the Algarve (Portugal), that's pretty much how it looks in winter vs summer.
Social media addicts can have a high level of self-awareness. For instance, they might know that the ungodly amount of time they spend scrolling through Instagram and comparing their lives to those of influencers is having a profoundly negative impact on their physical and psychological well-being. And yet, they still don't change their behavior.
Spending prolonged amounts of time on social media can cause anxiety and depression. Meanwhile, some users can develop further, even unhealthier, addictions.
i choked on air because of this comment 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Load More Replies...so you zoomed way in so you only see the turbulent water at the bottom of the waterfall. These comparisons suck balls. I've been under water falls (not this one). Farther back you see more beauty. Under the drop you get a fun shower and a bunch of turbulent water. BOTH are reality.
Yeah the falls probably look nice if they weren’t edited out. This whole thread is mystifying
Load More Replies...Apples and oranges here - sure these photos were taken at the same location, but one is composed and one is photojournalism.
Bro the grass in the first picture looks like a video game with very bad graphics
And taking a picture from one or two km away looks different than if you're next to it, say whaaaat.
Load More Replies...booo! there are not bad sights of Mont St Michel. Even when you're down and stretched out in the very slippery mud it still looks pretty 😂😂😂
Went for a heart retrieval once, got to fly above Mt St Michel on helicopter. Best view ever
When people with no graphic design background attempt color correcting.
The first photo is a super saturated and likely Photoshopped view taken at low tide.
What did you think about the differences between influencers' clips and what the popular tourist destinations look like in real life, dear Pandas? Were you as surprised as we were? Have you actually been to these spots? Where do you plan to go on holiday next? Tell us all about it (and more) in the comments!
what the acornmilkshake bishopin heckstick is happening in EITHER photos???
This is taken from opposite sides of the plane, so hardly a fair comparison.
Context? Have you forgotten where you are? ;-)
Load More Replies...What trend is that? Guess I've missed one again *shrugs*
Load More Replies...This makes me so angry. Some ignorant tourists would flock to pig beach in the Bahamas and would feed the pigs human food and even beer. This ended up with the pigs getting ill and relying on humans for food. Then they would complain when the wild pigs bit them.
We get those in this area. Especially in Yellowstone (in the US). I don't feel even a little bad for the adults that got hurt cause they tried to pet the bison or get closer to the bears. Kids are a different story. We've also had people get hurt in geysers cause they got off the marked trail to get a closer look and either fell in or partly fell in and got burned. Signs exist for a reason.
Load More Replies...i swear that i have heard that it was supposed to be illegal to touch or interact with the pigs.
It is 100% true that you’re not supposed to touch or interact with the pigs.
Load More Replies...Nah. A shot facing west versus a shot facing east. This one makes even less sense than the rest of the nonsensical examples in this article.
It probably started with a real photo and was then manipulated far beyond what would normally be done by the people who think saturation always needs to be turned up to 11.
Load More Replies...And in reality, it is very, very wet. Lots of fun, but wear a full rain suit.
Load More Replies...What is censored in the second photo? Are they mooning? Scratching their butt?
I feel like a lot of these are perspective and time of day and seasonal differences. The person in the first clearly isn’t as close to the water so maybe it’s realistic to see that view further back? And a different time of year?
I don't think it's fair to compare a planned photo to a spontaneous snapshot. It's like comparing a toddler's fingerpainting to a Renoir, or a fast food burger to a filet mignon.
This depends heavily on the tide. Both are accurate and could even been taken on the same day
Meh. It's the huge chunks of floating ice (broken off from Jökulsárlón glacier) in the adjacent lagoon that are interesting, not the little bits that wash up on the shore. I spent a couple of hours photographing the lagoon, a couple of minutes kicking ice on the beach.
is that ice or legit diamonds? cuz if it’s ice then i must visit
It's ice. But the floating ice in the adjacent lagoon is vastly more interesting than the chunks on the beach. I was there in April 2022, and it was spectacular.
Load More Replies...Who thinks they are ever going to get a popular tourist destination to themselves…ever?
That bridge is well worth the visit for the views on a not foggy day. Will there be people? Yes. Is it an actual problem? Heck nope, cause you're not gonna be looking at them. Also it's just one small part of the Ba Na hills area.
The difference between waking up at the crack of dawn to arrive early vs peak hour
That bridge is in a theme park, pretty, but very fake. There's 2 amazing places in Da Nang much better to visit, one being Unesco heritage and the other one having a female Buddha statue
sometimes people ask others to stand back for a moment for money or go early before others are let in, and then I'm sure if the second picture used the same spot as the first picture{the MIDDLE of the bridge instead of the SIDE}, they would get the same kind of results with all the "fingers" {also you can tell the first picture was taken n the early morning}cause of the lighting}
Again, people around and photo not taken from same spot.........I'm not looking at any more of these, they are annoying now!
There will be the first person to arrive at these places every day. If you go during down season and get there at first light, you might be able to get some of these pics yourself.
i dont know. when i was there, i didnt see any upside down floating persons either. The dissapointment was very big :-(
What did you expect? A random dude doing a backfip on the sand?!
idk why this comment is so funny to me, but it is...

We did a sand dune safari in Toyota Landcruisers in Dubai (and one of the drivers did something similar to this at one of the stops) and it was one of the coolest things we’ve ever done! Those dudes are crazy!
Taking the photo with the sun at a better angle doesn't hurt either.

Load More Replies...The black sand is far from the most interesting thing at Reynisfjara. Check out the basalt columns and Hálsanefshellir Cave.
I will agree that a lot of black beaches are photoshopped to be much darker than they are in person/on TV. Jacob and Bella definitely lied about la push beach lol.
The sand is jet black at Reynisfjara. The pinkish glow in the left photo is presumably from a sunset.
Load More Replies...The first one is n some place with weirdly polluted water, and the second is in some place normal people might enjoy visiting.
Apparently, the "influencer" is unfamiliar with the dangers of a red tide.
What it the issue with this one? Petra is a huge place. You can get pictures like the first one, you just need to climb for some time, there is a bédouin house on top, get some tea, pet the cats, take a photo, move away a bit and you can have a picnic by yourself with a view of the treasury. The crowds are mostly on the main path, once you go away from it, you can walk practically alone.
i went to petra a month ago and it was beautiful. especially the siq
Load More Replies...If I'd take a picture of the house I live in ("Social Media") and my storage room ("Reality"), it'd be kinda the same comparison. What's the issue here? -.-
I truly hate some tourists. You get an opportunity to visit one of the wonders of the world and are angry when other tourists attend a tour. Damn, some people are entitled twatwaffles
That one is stupid. The one tagged "social media" is one of the most famous sights in Petra, that's the one shot everyone takes when the visit Petra. I have photos of myself sitting exactly where that blanket is. Why compare outside with indoors?? I didn't spend much time indoors when I visited Petra.
Both pic are true. I took a hike and have one pic just like the left one. Come early and you can be pretty much alone. Also, Treasury is only ONE of many cool features there. You need at least 2-3 days to explore.
Not really, the treasury is only a few meters deep. You have the outside just behind you at all times
Load More Replies...One taken from the top ("social media"), "reality" from the bottom... honestly in all of these the difference is photagraphy skill, timing and I know for a fact that the people taking the superior photos do things lile camp out in the evening till the moring or get up at dawn to get there without other people present to shoot photos. And they do research. This whole post is just a big stream of whinging. Also the colours are manipulated to look more fantastic, which is just as common outside of social media.
I think a lot of the complaints are that the social media photos almost always show no people in them, other than the subject of course. But reality is the places are often packed with people.
Load More Replies...Is that a large levitating ant in the upper right of the right photo?
bryce canyon is gorgeous...and it DOES look like the pic on the left AND the one on the right, depending on where you go...and the colors in both pics are real
The left feels a little off to me but my color vision is flawed. The lack of shadow angles say the first is taken under cloudy skies or the like and that can alter colors.
Load More Replies...In the first photo they climbed down to the water. In the second they phoned it in from up top. and yes to what someone else said about looks like a different time of year. It's like the "reality" photographer has no concept that time of day, time of year and weather as well as actual location make a difference in how photos look. DUH! Seems like they are just trying to make every comparison look bad.
Load More Replies...this is starting to get boring.... AGAIN.... different times of the year. Been in this place last week, the spring is starting in Iceland and it looks like the one on the left. Bet in the Icelandic winter look like the one on the right. Also...don't dive here. It's dangerous.
When I find configurations like this in Minecraft creative, I build cliff dwellings.
No, you just came at the wrong time. Plenty of places get even more beautiful than the first photo, with orange and red and yellow, but it’s only like that for a short period before it turns brown.
Right? These photos could be 2 days apart, and that would be enough to change things.
Load More Replies...Call me a pessimistic Seattlite but I do love that second one more. It's so gloomy and ethereal
Nature being nature. Seasons being seasons. People being people. Yeah….this is all some crazy s**t😂
Maybe, but that doesnt change that fact that you support a rapist for president.
Load More Replies...That one is just dumb. Volcanos do not errupt perpetually. If you are too late, yes, the lava will in fact cool down and solidify.
agreed. also appears not same location. I doubt the cone just disappeared.
Load More Replies...As appealing as trying to outrun lava like the love child of Usain Bolt and the Flash I'd rather not thank you 🙂
I bet if you google hard enough there'll be a movie of that.
Load More Replies...I mean it is not the same location are they complaining that they can’t get close to an active volcano?
Um, lava is supposed to cool down eventually. And the person in the 1st photo is really too close. The gasses can be deadly.
Only if you can't breathe sulfur like you can oxygen. Amateur!
Load More Replies...These are two different spots at the volcano. The second one is at the bottom of the mountain, probably 5-10 minutes into the hike, depending where you park. The first one is waaaayyyy up the mountain, like an almost straight up hike for about an hour. Also, the distance is distorted. It's pretty far away from the ledge. I couldn't feel the heat but could hear a slight rumbling, but not loud enough to record on phone.
Soooo one was taken in a storm and in much darker conditions... Don't get it
It looks like it's raining in the first photo too though. I think it's meant to be with and without filter/editing but I still don't get like. The point?
Load More Replies...This shouldn't count its a freaking installation it's a room that simulates a storm
Both look really scary to me. Not sure if Thalassaphobia counts for this but that's where it's heading.
The sky and water in the first photo looked like the sky and sea in a nightmare I had once
I swear that looks like Tech N9ne.. but doubt he's going to spas an taking pictures
How dare you? Obviously the only difference EVER in these pictures is that one is SOCIAL MEDIA and the other one THE REALITY. Different tide times are a lie made up by mainstream media to keep you away from SOCIAL MEDIA!
Load More Replies...DUDE! Do you even remotely grasp the concept of tides? This has been a recurring theme.
Tidal ranges vary - I'm somewhat freaked out by coastlines without much tide.
Load More Replies...It seems all they want to do is take a sh...ty photo in the same general location and claim the first photo is somehow fake. I lost respect for whoever made this quite a few posts back.
Load More Replies...Yes but the first one was before she drowned. Rip red bikini lady.
Load More Replies...Different distance or focal length, and a few seconds to a few minutes before or after.
Load More Replies...Drone photo shoots, I’ve done them before, th waves are so fun for catching hilarious shots in between some good ones
Load More Replies...BP really scraping the bottom of the barrel on this post...
Load More Replies...Again, two completely different things here. Stop posting this s**t
Every great shot is a once-in-a-lifetime shot. So...What's the f*****g problem? Some of these are blatant lies, yes. But MOST here are simply the best shot taken at the most optimum time. What -- are they supposed to show their worst pic on Social Media?
You mean you can take a photo of the same thing from more than one angle?! Ermagerd!

Most of these come down to wrong time of the year, wrong time of the day, bad photography, wrong angle, lack of filter etc.
Yeah. If they'd at least have said where these locations were, it would have been slightly more interesting.
Load More Replies...It all boils down to professional photography vs. amateur pictures. Be willing to wait the perfect time of the year, find the perfect angle, negotiate with authorities or owners to open a venue a bit early to avoid the crowd, spending time editing the picture, etc., vs. "I was there, I took a pic". Newsflash : postcards and travel books editors have been doing exactly that for DECADES already. Social networks and influencers didn't invent anything. But I guess it's trendy to pick on them...
Yeah you hit it right on the head. In essence, what this post does is show the work that goes into making a good photo, regardless of whether it used for social media, or to make photos. It also shows the worst kept secret that photos are manipulated to produce optimal images. It would be better titled as "The difference in photos between someone that has done their homework and understands the post work (aka the pro) vs the amateur photographer.

Honestly, I don't understand this whole influencer universe. Who are they trying to fool, pretending to be Adam and Eve exploring paradise? Who buys this whole "Oh look, I'm a millionaire supermodel" shtick? It only leads to more silly tourists who overcrowd vulnerable cultural / natural sights that should be protected from people and their stupidity.
I see that most of the problems were to do with too many people everywhere. And I can relate
