Internet Can’t Stop Laughing At Brits Who Are In Absolute Chaos Because Of A Little Snow
It’s easy to make fun of the Brits. I should know, I’m one myself! However, the whole ‘bad teeth’ thing that Americans seem to cling to is a little outdated by now, we got that sorted a while back and quite regularly go to the dentist now. Well most of us, anyway.
So why not have a dig at the fact that we invented a whole host of sports, which we now suck at? Or the brand-new super expensive aircraft carrier we got, which has no aircraft and already sprung a leak? And what about this guy, who represents us to the world as our Foreign Secretary? The list is practically endless. Luckily, most of us have a pretty deprecating sense of humour and are quite happy to chuckle along too, so by all means, give us your best shot.
Now, if you must, you can add general hysteria and losing-of-shit over a little bit of bad weather to the list. Egged-on by a ridiculously sensationalist tabloid press, Brits have been portrayed as a bunch of hopeless ninnies who are incapable of functioning as a society as soon as but a single snowflake falls from the sky. And sadly, it’s all true.
Naturally, people from countries like Canada, Switzerland, Norway and Russia, places where it gets like, actually cold, can only look on with incredulous pity at us whiny Brits, and wonder what the heck all the fuss is about. Those guys get it soo much worse than us, but life seems to go on just fine. What is our problem? Well, you see old chap, we just always seem to get the wrong type of snow. Just unlucky I guess!
Scroll down to see how the world roasted us, and quite rightly so I might add. Oh, and feel free to take a pop at us in the comments too. Bring it!

Meanwhile, Mother Russia relies on snowstorms as a strategic advantage in World War II (a side-note from the history-side of bored panda)
Erm... I live in finland, -28C today. Saw sun! I can tell you we have no sun in winter, so seeing the sun today was awesome. And it's pretty cold and snowyou butility it wasn't that bad
They sent the tough immigrants and criminals away instead of their "best" citizens :|
In other news: Large portions of Canada receive 3 feet of snow less than forecast. Citizens are mildly perturbed.
Jeez. It looks like salads are what’s for dinner over there during a storm.
*UK & Ireland not just England * Actually, 47cm of snow here in South Wales. I'm short, that's like nearly up to my tits! *Never mind the cities, I'm stuck in a rural hospital and live in the valleys so currently screwed anyway. They have no chips in the canteen! This tweet is quite the underexaggeration
Haha yeah Im British but live in north China where its routinely -30 to -35 in the winter and we're all chillin' under piles of snow still playing cards on the street and wading to work X'D
The Media, not the rest of us Brits, we get bored of their stupidity too lol
Excuse my American ignorance, but WTF is a gritter? You mean salt trucks and snowplows?
And WINTER MARKETS closed because of "too winterly conditions" in early December... 😂
'We Brits' are only the English - the Scots, Irish and Welsh do fine in the snow
Whole countries gone mental over the snow we had recently, seriously come on guys what’s the problem? We all know the uk goverment cannot be bothered to managed our little dusting properly. That’s why the farmers are out 24hours getting idiots out of trouble! No wonder we are the laughing stock of the planet! Ffs
These aren't really fair reactions to us Brits for the following reasons: 1) Most people in Britain are just getting on with it 2) We're the land of the ever changing weather, we're pretty good with having sun/rain/wind/hail/thunder/snow etc on the same day 3) Some people have died due this weather or been trapped on the motorway for 20 odd hours so obviously it's more than just a bit of snow 4) We only really get this level of snow for a few days every 6 or 7 years, so therefore there is no need for us to invest in the infrastructure needed to clear it all as they do in Canada/Scandinavia/Russia etc. We'd rather just be inconvenienced for a little while every few years.
I lived there for 6 years and it snowed probably every other year. And everyone just got on with it, like you said. Also, I don't think it's fair to judge a whole country by one city. Just as New York isn't representative of the US, London isn't representative of England. (They are just parts of the whole.)
Get ready for another Little Ice Age Reggie. Its on the way.....soon. :D 1601_Winte...605d0c.jpg
Yeah, I heard that no one remember that long snow, there was snow a 5 years ago (I mean snow that actually stays on groung for more than one hour) but this is worst. I was driving in this and it's dangerous, It's look like fun for some ppl, for me as well, but I also understand that if it snows in London, it's really rare and nobody is prepared. Some reactions are way too much, but it is really sht weather these days :D
Zori, It's more than that is many places.

You kidding with me? At -4 with two inches of snow, I walk with nothing but a thin summer jacket, a hoodie and non-water resistant shoes! You think you've got a bad weather? Here, in Bulgaria it became from +6 to -13 degrees Celsius in a matter of two days! And I'm ready to bet some countries are ten times worse! Also, haven't you ever heard of winter tires?
Well said Reggie, most Brits aren't bothered, however we don't have the infrastructure of countries who have this weather year in year out. Nobody I know cleared any shelves of anything; for all we know the delivery trucks may have not been able to get through.
I live in Yorkshire, and from what I can see from the photos of the London snow, we have it way worse here. And in some parts of the UK, it is actually life threatening. The amount of snow and temperatures are super varying across the UK, so I think this article is very unfair
Jennifer S - you are so right. I was working in Yorkshire, Derbyshire this week. M1 and M6 all gritted. Drove home to Southampton - M3, not gritted, M27, Not gritted - in fact, all of Southampton - not gritted. It was a nightmare. Took 2.5 hours to travel what normally wold be about 20 minutes.
Well said Reggie. Exactly this. My brothers mate died on the A34 because of this weather. It is not fucking funny. We don't normally get this weather, this bad, so we don't have the infrastructure built in to deal with the anomalies. So yeah - laugh at us Brits.
We're actually snowed in as well in the south west! First snow in 5 years
Hear, hear. Well said old bean.
So is it "a little inconvenienced" or is it "people have died due to this"? If it's the latter then perhaps some sort of service/infrastructure improvements are indeed in order to take better care of the country's citizens and guests.
It's not that simple actually. Weather in the UK is more unpredictable than most countries. This is why we can't invest in things like snowploughs as most years they wouldn't even be used. This is the first real winter weather south of Scotland for 5 years so we just don't know when we'll have a bad winter.
First off, I hate the phrase, "The internet can't stop laughing". People and hyenas laugh, not the internet. Secondly, whatever weather you're not used to can seem extreme. I'm betting that the folks in Finland would think they were dying if the temp hit 90 F. Whatever weather conditions are not normal for an area are extreme to people who live there.
Yeah, I actually avoid clicking on posts with the "the internet can't stop laughing" in the title. Others that I avoid: Posts that promise to make my day or change my perception of life or that already tell me in the title how I should feel. How about a bit less hyperbole, letting the content speak for itself and people decide how to feel? Clickbait nowadays has the contrary effect on me - i am more likely not to click.
Actually, I've lived in Britain and did not see any of this panicking stuff... just regular folk dressing up for cold weather... but i DID SEE PANICK in DC for a number of years when an inch of snow fell, like, everthing was closed, even schools!!!
