40 Haunting Real-Life Facts You've Probably Never Heard Before Sharks have been around for at least 420 million years, meaning they have survived four of the “big five” mass extinctions. That makes them older than humanity, older than Mount Everest, older than dinosaurs, older even than trees. Yet we could potentially see them extinct in our lifetime

Tunitas Beach near where I live is nicknamed "Don't Eat Us Beach" because we leave the great white sharks alone. I've seen bloody waves, indicating a shark just fed and that's how it should be. Look, don't touch.

40 Haunting Real-Life Facts You've Probably Never Heard Before If a biological trait is common in almost every human, then it evolved for a reason. Almost everybody has the same response to the "uncanny valley," or in other words we are made uncomfortable by things that look almost human but not quite. This implies humans once had a reason to fear something that looks human but isn't.

Yeah, this one is pretty easily explainable. It's sort of the opposite of pareidolia - the brain's tendency to assign meaning to patterns. Which is why we can find "faces" in inanimate objects (like car headlights and knots in trees). With animatronics, dolls, etc, we see a realistic looking face, but something is missing. Something doesn't fit the pattern. And I don't think most people would describe it as terrifying (unless you have an actual phobia in this area). It's just unsettling or creepy.

Not really. It's more to do with corpses than creatures. We evolved to get that uncanny valley feeling when we look at a corpse and the urge to stay away with some disease can be caught from corpses.

If there’s one thing that never ceases to amaze us, it's the amount of knowledge in the world. We can spend a lifetime trying to make sense of our surroundings by gathering new information every chance we get. One additional perk is that we get to spice up dull conversations and come up with new brilliant ideas to make this planet just a tad better.

More often than not, however, we applaud and celebrate the technological breakthroughs that we humans manage to create and also the mesmerizing beauty of the natural world. Let’s be honest, the disturbing and scary facts about real life may catch our attention, but they’re bound to send shivers down our spines. Sure, it’s better to be safe than sorry, but who really wants to know about massive super volcanos or missing nuclear weapons that have never been recovered? That's nightmare material right there.

Time is thought to be a 4th dimension, the three we can experience are height, length and width, different movement experiences. But if time was that 4th dimension, and we could experience it, we could move back and forward in time as easily as walking a few steps forward. You never know, there may be celestial beings out there that can experience the 4th dimension.

We do experience time. That doesn't mean that we can walk in our choice of directions. For that, you might want to experience the fourth dimension as material and the fifth dimension as time.

I'm not sure this is true or just an urban legend, as you could compare brain structures and brain activity when exposed to specific stimuli. There's no reason to assume someone experiences reality vastly different than you if your hardwiring and reaction to stimuli is statistically comparable.

I've spent a year living in Japan by myself, travelled across the world to various places by myself, used to jog in the evenings in London by myself; and so many people have tried to scare me. "Oh you're so brave!" No! I just know statistically that I'm more likely to be murdered in my own home by a boyfriend or family. Men are literally the most dangerous thing women face. We need to change this. Men need permission to actually have feelings and be taught that women aren't objects. Women need to be taught that they aren't responsible for anyone else's behavior. Of course, this is a gross over simplification, both in terms of gender and the issues. But think about it. Most women are killed by someone who claims to love them.

Yeah, you really nailed it. When you're taught from childhood to suppress your emotions and never ask for help because that makes you "weak", why should anyone be surprised that you might end up doing so to the point that you explode? So many of the guys who do these horrible things do them because the only emotion they feel comfortable showing is anger, and they have so much c**p they've been keeping buried to an unhealthy degree that they blow up in a frenzy of sickening violence and aggression - and it's usually the women in their lives who suffer the consequences. And when these guys are also not raised to view women as human beings but as objects to conquer and possess, it gets even worse.

Not corals, but yes to algae. Most of the world's oceans are and always have been nearly dead, due to a lack of minerals; you need more than just water and carbon dioxide to form plant life. So one proposal to reverse global warming would be to provide minerals to the open oceans. But that is such a crapshot with so many unforeseeable consequences, no-one really talks about it.

It's not that respire (they do). It's that they die, fall, and decay (due chiefly to fungi), returning their carbon to the atmospheric environment. Algae respire just like trees, but when they die, they often descend to the depths, or are eaten by animals which descend to the depths.

yes billions of years ago the ancestors of plants converted the atmosphere to a reducing one by transforming most of the available CO2 to oxygen. so most photosynthesis takes place in the oceans. back then it was evolutionary/biological warfare so life evolved to process oxygen for energy. aerobic/anerobic and photosynthesis still drive the majority of life to this day.

But it looks like turning a blind eye to the uneasy side of life is not that easy. You see, there’s one thing we humans are wired to do — seek out the gloom. As daunting as that may sound, we have this tendency to give more significance to negative thoughts than positive or neutral ones, something the experts call the negativity bias.

Rick Hanson, Ph.D., psychologist and author of Hardwiring Happiness, explained that humans evolved to be fearful, and it helped keep us alive. "This vulnerability to feeling threatened has effects at many levels, ranging from individuals, couples, and families, to schoolyards, organizations and nations," he wrote and stressed how important it is to be aware of how our brains become wary if we want to regain some amount control in the way we perceive the world.

These comments are surprisingly unkind for BP. I'd have thought at least some people would have known that almost all pharmaceuticals have off label uses. Viagara works by dilating the arteries and increasing blood flow. There are MANY conditions that it treats. Hypertension, congestive heart failure, infertility (aids in growth of uterine lining), Reynaud's Disease, diminished lung function. Botox is not just a cosmetic product. Moving back the start time for school in an area resulted in 70% less car accidents. Similarly at each daylight saving, heart attacks and accidents decrease with an hour of extra sleep and increase with an hour less of sleep. Sleep is crazy important.

Moving back the start time would mean less sleep though right? ..I'm just confused on that part because it resulted in less accidents when school was earlier but similarly the extra hours sleep meant less heart attacks and accidents..sleep is important but wouldn't you be losing sleep if the school run was earlier ?

Moving it back means to move it to a later time. Say 10am instead of 9am, so you can sleep until 7am instead of 6am. Just don't change the time you go to bed, obviously.

Using adverbs like 'back' to describe time is confusing. 'Earlier' and 'later' are more precise.

I totally agree with starting school at 10, and ending at 3, that's all that is needed, but honest question here; Why can't they go to bed earlier? You know if school started at 10 that teenagers would sleep until 9 anyway.

And when I talk about it to people no one seems to think it’s a big deal ! My whole life is a mess for that few months I have to wake up an hour earlier ! How does no one care ?

I mean California passed prop 7 like 3 years ago so we could do away with the time change but we still can't do much about it (yay America's ability to sh!t about fu¢k all without a million legislative speed bumps.) The senate approved the Sunshine Protection act this year to keep DST permanent. As long as we stop the time change, things will be better. You can prefer DST or standard...I literally don't care. We just need to keep things consistent for myriad of reasons.

Hanson stated that the nervous system has been evolving for 600 million years. "Our ancestors had to make a critical decision many times a day: approach a reward or avoid a hazard,” he wrote. People had to find food, have children, and hide from predators to survive and avoid threats.

However, if our ancestors missed out on food one day, they could easily find some more the next. But if they failed to dodge potential dangers, they didn't get the chance to pass on their genes to future generations. "Consequently, your body generally reacts more intensely to negative stimuli than to equally strong positive ones," Hanson explained.

The statistics of the Earth coming into contact with a rouge black hole are very unlikely. Say you swam in the ocean non stop for fifteen years. a shark was put into the water for one second in these fifteen years. it is more likely to be bitten by that shark than Earth to come into contact with a black hole.

"The alarm bell of your brain — the amygdala (you’ve got two of these little almond-shaped regions, one on either side of your head) — uses many of its neurons to look for bad news: it’s primed to go negative in most people," the psychologist continued. "Once it sounds the alarm, negative events and experiences get quickly stored in memory — in contrast to positive events and experiences, which are not prioritized in the same way."

But while this is a great way to pass on gene copies, our quality of life has been improving significantly and proving we don’t actually need to feel afraid or anxious all of the time. To lead a healthy and fulfilling life, we need to better grasp this tendency to focus on the negativities and understand that things are usually not as bad. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the discomforting things around you, try to pay attention to what’s in front of you.

Really bad?? How about life on Earth ending completely!! The caldera under Yellowstone is almost as big as the park itself!! That’s about 120 Million Mount St. Helens!! If the original shock blast didn’t get you, which would probably travel from Wyoming to Eastern Iowa (about 700 miles), then the heat wave might!! That would probably get to Omaha!! After all that, then the ash cloud would cover the whole Earth within a couple of days and black out the Sun for years!! If you didn’t choke to death on the ash, then the Earth would be plunged into an ICE AGE!!

It’s called “Saccadic masking”, it’s an evolutionary trait to stop us from getting motion sick. Your brain fills in the blank spot with whatever you end up looking at and context clues. 40 Haunting Real-Life Facts You've Probably Never Heard Before Chimps don't attack to kill. Instead they aim for the genitals, face, and fingers and will leave the opponent alive. There have been many people who have owned chimps who have turned on their owners and left them incredibly disfigured. One case, the chimp ripped a man's junk off. In all cases, faces were mutilated and fingers were chewed off. It's pretty much how they instinctively fight in the wild. So if you think that chimp is going to be a cute pet, better think twice. Even if you raised it since it was born, they'll turn on you at any second. A disfigurement roulette waiting to happen. Vile creatures.

Chimps are pretty nasty with each other and other smaller primates, they'll kill for dominance (and eat the loser). That behaviour is not exclusive to chimps of course, but people tend to think a chimp is less dangerous than a lion for instance. Vile is a bit harsh though, they don't behave like that for fun, it's really survival of the fittest. They are absolutely not pets and belong in the wild.

One thing to consider when assessing the danger of an animal to humans: Humans are experts of persistence. We *evolved* to be able to go for hours and hours without tiring, when every other animal would have collapsed from overheating. However, among other things we sacrificed *short-time strength* for this (they require different types of muscle tissue, so you can't excel in both at the same time). If an animal looks like it should be about as strong as a human - it's much stronger than that. If it looks like it should be stronger - it's way, *way* stronger. Humans should never, ever, underestimate the strength of other animals.

The last line of this post really rubbed me the wrong way. Chimps are wild animals that have their own social system and behaviors that have evolved over millions of years to help them survive as a species. They are not meant to be pets, period. Humans also do way more harm to each other in hundreds of different ways then pretty much most other species of animal.

Yeah. Not the owners - her friends. The owner got away unhurt. The foolish, foolish woman. Keeping a pet chimpanzee, feeding it wine and Valium is one of the worst ideas in a long, sad history of bad ideas. That story pissed me off something wicked.

Crazy, it's almost like we maybe shouldn't be holding wild animals captive. I don't blame the "vile creatures" at all in this situation. Unless by "vile creatures" you mean "people".

I think the only "vile creature" in this scenario is the human who thinks it's cool to have a chimp as a pet. Just sayin 🤷🏼‍♀️

Despite literally all war propaganda from every country saying otherwise, you are not going to make an individual impact in glorious battle and die valiantly in a hail of bullets. Statistically, you are overwhelmingly more likely to be killed by an explosive device launched miles away by a vehicle you will never see, long before you ever get a chance to pull the trigger.

And literally EVERY country runs its own propaganda in all wars. That includes OUR side in the Ukraine war. Some things are not reported, some things that are reported are not true and some is exaggeration. Some of it isn't even news but is designed to make you support the war itself. Keep your eyes peeled for it. Harder to do when the propaganda involves limiting the outlets for news to their own side only. You have nothing to compare it to..

When I was 40 and I was waiting for a transplant I spent much of my time in a hospital bed waiting to die (or get surgery, but that wasn't a guarantee). Among other things, I fantasized every day about getting my ticket punched in a war, as opposed to wasting away in my own s**t and suffering unbearable pain. Going out in a blaze of glory, even if just a sudden artillery strike, looked mighty good to me back then.

The trauma specialist suggested that it is best to respond to your fear with words of reassurance and compassion. "Try and put the fear in perspective. Don't go through these feelings alone. Call a friend or talk to a family member. Process what you are feeling so you can sort through where the fear is coming from. Remind yourselves it is perfectly normal to feel afraid at times. It is an emotion that comes and goes, especially if you have experienced anything that left you feeling afraid," Botwin advised.

Drone will actually use all of his body hemolymph (their blood) to inflate both (yes two!) of his d***s to impregnate the queen. He dies before his thonks explodes

    Miss Ann Thrope
    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

A male drone will mount the queen and insert his endophallus, ejaculating semen. After ejaculation, a male honey bee pulls away from the queen, though his endophallus is ripped from his body, remaining attached to the newly fertilized queen. The next male honey bee to mate with the queen will remove the previous endophallus and eventually lose his own after ejaculation. Male honey bees are only able to mate seven to 10 times during a mating flight, and after mating, a drone dies quickly, as his abdomen rips open when his endophallus is removed. Even drones that survive the mating flight are ejected from their nests, as they have served their sole purpose by mating. Virgin queens mate early in their lives and only attend one mating flight. After several matings during this flight, a queen stores up to 100 million sperm within her oviducts. However, only five to six million are stored within the queen's spermatheca. The queen uses only a few of these sperm at a time in order to fertilize

    Miss Ann Thrope
    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

If a queen runs out of sperm in her lifetime, new generations of queens will mate and produce their own colonies. Honey bee queens control the sex of their offspring: as eggs pass through the ovary into the oviduct, a queen can determine whether a particular egg is fertilized or not. Unfertilized eggs become drone honey bees, while fertilized eggs develop into female workers and queens. Female workers do not mate, but they can lay infertile eggs, which in turn become male honey bees. Queens lay their eggs in structural oval-shaped cells, which stick to the nest ceiling. Worker honey bees fill these cells with royal jelly to prevent larvae from falling. Soon-to-be workers are fed royal jelly during the first two days, while future queens are given royal jelly throughout the entire larval period. The development of each member of a colony differs depending on caste: male honey bees need 24 days for proper growth from eggs to adult, while workers need 21 days and queens require only 16.

Thats a very general statement. What exactly are the practices? My family farms in SW Colorado and they do the soil maintenance yearly. Rotating crops, soil test, and using the farm's compost and tilling it into the fields. Almost all farmers do this and my family has been measuring soil nutrition for decades with no decrease at all.

This is from the same thread: The theory behind how it works is actually super fascinating, basically it turns out that there are two independent facial recognition processes instead of one, where one is subconscious and emotional and the other is conscious and objective; This is evidenced by research showing that people who developed facial blindness (a really interesting subject in its own right) due to brain damage would still subconsciously react to faces of people they had been familiar with before their condition, so essentially in FB the conscious level of facial recognition breaks down even if the subconscious level doesn't, but Capgras is the inverse of that where the conscious level remains intact but the subconscious level breaks down so you recognize that they're physically indistinguishable from the person you know but that emotional and familial connection with them that tells you that they are who they are just stops firing.

NOT TRUE. Squirrels generally live outside, in trees. Rats live in wet environments near the ground, including homes. (Yes, squirrels can get into your attic and live there.) Squirrels eat fruit, nuts, fungus, insects, etc., Rats eat anything, including trash like rotten meat. Squirrels are typically native to the environment they're found in; House rats (also known as Norwegian rats or Brown rats), what you think of when you think of rats, are invaders who came infesting ships. This is why rats have completely decimated human populations over and over again, and squirrels not so much.

Daniel Marsh, actually the grey variety of squirrels (the one that's common in North America) invading Europe and slowly replacing the native red variety is also a problem. As is overpopulation and invasion by ANY species.

The leap in technological advancement from us to a race that could *actually* traverse the galaxy/universe is astronomically ludicrous. We are absolutely nothing in comparison to any race that has created ways to reach us. Meaning any race capable of finding us would be so advanced and so much more knowledgeable than us that they could observe us without us ever knowing. They would have technologies, weapons, etc outside our realm of understanding and would be able to annihilate us with ease, just given the fact that their ability to generate/harness power would be unparalleled. If any alien ever came to earth with hostile tendencies, short of a miracle, we’d be doomed.

Trouble with OP's statement is that we do not know what we don't know. Any moment a breakthrough could happen that would change everything we know about the universe and space travel. Or it may not. That is why all we can say is that we don't really know much right now. 100 years ago well known scientists were saying traveling to the moon was impossible. There are many theories out there as to how we could travel to other solar systems. They only take the right circumstances to develop one of them.

Pure speculation. Since we don't know how to traverse the galaxy, we don't know just how hard it is. I read a sci-fi story that addressed this. It was actually very simple and we just didn't know how to, through a quirk of history. An alien ship landed and people bearing muskets and lanterns emerged, thinking they had superior tech. It ended badly for them. Now bear in mind, I am not saying that OP is wrong, it's just that we can't know what they think is fact, actually is.

Almost all the science fiction movies, TV and books about alien invasion have them using technology that is a small amount beyond ours out of convenience. Where the odds against this being the case are almost infinite, and the resources they would waste coming here with such a low level of technology would be immense and pointless. As poster said, any aliens who reached us would much more likely be so far advanced we wouldn't even begin to comprehend them.

Lots of speculation there. Attempting to decide the motives of an alien mind. Maybe they could hide, maybe that's not what they spent their time on. Perhaps they just didn't focus all their efforts on ways to share porn and drugs to get hard.

This is kind of proof that aliens have never shown up. Independence Day pretty much had the interstellar travel down pat. If you are going to go all that distance, you're going to kill off the competition and colonize. Just using North America, almost every inch is owned by someone whose colonizers killed the people there before. The Appomattoc tribe was completely killed off by English colonizers in Virginia. The Anasazi people were killed off by the Navajo (Anasazi means ancient enemy in Navajo) when the Navajo came down from Canada. There's strong evidence that Aztec empire conquered by Cortez was less than 100 years old and founded by Nahuatl driven south when the Apaches killed off most of their tribes who did the same thing to the Tolmec people sitting where Mexico City is now. This history doesn't condone or forgive genocide but it shows its how dominant groups have always treated another on first contact. Every organism puts their survival first.

Correction--US military. The army doesn't have nukes any more. Most nukes' blast radii are larger than the max range of ground-based artillery. The navy and air force are the ones with nukes since they have aircraft, subs, and ICBMs capable of greater range.

My mom had this happen when she developed hystoplasmosis. She has only peripheral vision in her left eye. Blank spot in the center. The optical doc has had to actually pop her left eye out twice and freeze and peel away capillaries that had begun to grow over her retina. All because of a fungus that is in turkey litter and she inhaled while walking a field. The fungal spores closely resemble the cells in your eyes so your immune system attacks your eyes because it thinks those cells are the fungal spores.

The odds of dying in a car accident are 1 in 107. Not only that you can die in a car only going 40mph and something like 30-percent of the people driving after 10pm are driving drunk. Driving is super dangerous and most people take it for granted.

I recently learned of 'floppy' physics which explains the phenomena of drunk drivers escaping from fatal accidents with minimal injuries because the alcohol is a relaxant and stops them reacting and tensing during the crash. Other non-intoxicated occupants/pedestrians are not so lucky

This is why race car drivers are trained to relax in case of a wreck. If you watch clips of accidents in NASCAR, you’ll see the driver let go of the steering wheel and cross their arms over their chest. It’s to ensure they don’t tense up, and reduces risk of serious injury.

It is made up nonsense. If 1 in 107 car journeys would end up in someone dying the population of the western world would be extinct in 5 years time, and we'd know about it. If 1 out of 107 of all deaths are due to car accidents, you'd know about it. Maybe if you'd limit it to cause of death of people aged 20 to 30 you might get to 1 in 107, but I doubt it. Made up statistics like this and the gullible idiots incapable of critical thought believing it is why we can't have nice things any more.

There was a 20mph fatal accident near my nephew's school. Lady was changing lanes and hit another driver. Their tires connected just right, flipping the car over and she died instantly of head trauma. Her daughter was nearby and saw the aftermath. Such a mundane driving task became horrendously tragic in an instant. Get blind spot mirrors.

The article interviewed a few of them and they were very smug about the fact that they were preppers and safe from 'the bomb'. Luckily only the street, no rocks or curbs. Was out for some minutes, can't remember a thing. So what is the first thing you do? You light up a cigarette. Second thing? You inward sneeze again. Never underestimate the impact of bodily functions. A friend of mine had to go because of a cough - he coughed so violently that a rib broke, puncturing his lung and leading to immediate pneumothorax (collapsing lung part).

That’s because, according to a BP post a few months back, “If you stifle a sneeze there’s a chance you can damage organs in your head, including eye blood vessels, rupturing your eardrums, and possibly rupture a brain aneurysm. Which means there’s a small chance stifling a sneeze can kill you.”

We need better date r**e drug detection kits ASAP. A lot of victims are left wondering if they were truly just drunk or drugged, and we don’t have very reliable lab testing to find out for sure. Also the window for detection closes quickly. By the time you’re ready to go to the police, your system has metabolized the drug.

    Lisa Intally

Most of the gun violence in the US is from average people who decide to shoot their way out of arguments, road rage, domestic situations or simply commit suicide. You may buy the gun for self-protection, but you are much more likely to use it on yourself or a person known to you than you will ever use it on a criminal. We ALL have the motive and opportunity to commit violence almost every day. Whether it's a fight, argument serious depression or other. Injecting a gun then becomes an easy means to do something about it in the moment before you have had a chance to think about it.

We already have our own versions. Kuru is a prion caused disease (like chronic wasting) that is spread by cannibalism. CJD is another prion neurological disease spread between humans.

Hippos are graceful in water, good swimmers, and can hold their breath underwater for up to five minutes. However, they are often large enough to simply walk or stand on the lake floor, or lie in the shallows. - National Geographic

Wikipedia says "Despite being semiaquatic and having webbed feet, an adult hippo is not a particularly good swimmer, nor can it float. It is rarely found in deep water; when it is, the animal moves by porpoise-like leaps off the bottom." Who is telling the truth??

And also super violent and territorial. They are nearly twice as deadly as lions, some stats say they kill more people than lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and rhinos combined (though numbers may not be 100% accurate). They are second only to humans in being the most deadly mammal

Hippos absolutely can swim. They're usually tall enough in shallow enough water that they don't have to, but they absolutely, unequivocally can swim.

Body integrity disorder. The PubMed.gov website describes it as "the extremely rare phenomenon of persons who desire the amputation of one or more healthy limbs or who desire a paralysis," adding: "Some of these persons mutilate temselves; others ask surgeons for an amputation or for the transection of their spinal cord. Psychologists and physicians explain this phenomenon in quite different ways, but a successful psychotheraputic or pharmaceutical therapy is not known."

I once saw something about this. A guy had the feeling his leg shouldn't be there. Lost other leg in an accident and joked about losing the wrong leg. He eventually got the foreign feeling leg amputated. The discomfort of being disabled was worth that his body finally felt like it should. It still baffles me

NASA simulated the response effort to a killer asteroid and determined they would need a minimum of 5 years notice to have any chance of deflecting it—more realistically 10. We’d basically have to identify the thing leaving the ~~Oort Cloud~~ Kuiper Belt.

If we could somehow notice comet leaving oort cloud we would likely have at least 100 to 1000 years to prepare. It'll take next 300 years for voyager 1 to even reach the inner edge of the cloud and maybe 30 000 years to exit from the cloud

The goal is to slow it down or to speed it up. That lets the Earth’s motion around the sun carry us away from the impact point at the time the impact would have occurred. A large explosion sitting just off the surface of an asteroid would vaporize the surface, which then pushes the asteroid the opposite direction of the explosion. This could be a nuke, which is most effective. Another possibility is to simply hit the asteroid with a large amount of mass, slowing it down and allowing us to miss it. A Japanese chemical and biological warfare research and development unit that committed the most heinous acts of torture and lethal medical experiments on the Chinese people (men, women, children, pregnant women) resulting in over 3000 deaths. This was during the 2nd Sino-Japanese War through WWII (1935-45). They had a nice unit name to go by, the Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Unit of the Kwantung Army, aka Manshu Detachment 731. They cut babies out of fully conscious women, amputated limbs and reattached them to different places, same with some internal organs, released plague-infested rats, threw water on people in subzero weather to freeze them solid slowly just to name a few. Don't Google it if you have a weak stomach or are very sensitive to human suffering as it's the most atrocious acts perpetrated by humans that I've ever read. Serial killer Ed Gein looked like the royal family's au pair compared to these people who did this. The US pardoned them, too😠

Terry Pratchett has a bit in one of his books called "Small Gods" that discusses things like 731. There is no act of depravity that has ever been imagined in the human mind that wasn't eventually committed by a supposedly normal guy just going to work each day with his "world's best dad" mug. The human mind can justify any amount of evil.

70-90% of your body's cells are bacteria. They're on your skin, in your nose/mouth, which isn't great, but a lot of these are found in your digestive system too and are SUPER important for your digestive health..
