“We Can Use Fewer Idiots In The World”: 40 Cases Of Mass Stupidity That Prove People Are Dumb
Mob mentality — sometimes also called herd or hive mentality — is the inclination that humans have to be part of a large group, neglecting their individual feelings in the process, and adopting the behaviors and actions of the collective.
Interested in how this concept manifests in everyday life, Reddit user AdmirableFlow made a post on the platform, asking everyone: "What's the most severe case of mass stupidity you've ever witnessed?"
As of now, the question has received over 4.1K comments, so compiled those that stood out and invite you to learn more about the challenges of maintaining critical thinking.

The January 6th Assault on the Capitol was probably the most severe case of mass stupidity I've seen in my lifetime.
Not even talking politically.
There were idiots climbing walls when there were accessible stairs nearby. Most of these idiots thought they wouldn't meet any police resistance.
They acted as if their attempted coup would be met with smiling cops and clapping congresspeople, thanking them for their service or something.
|While at the same time saying George Floyd should have complied with law enforcement and deserved it.
Load More Replies...Trumphumpers are gigantic violent snowflakes with guns. The men obviously all have micropenises, which would explain their constant anger, and the women obviously have parents who are siblings.
And despite obvious video proof, many GOP senators and congress members say it was a normal tourist gathering. One or two of those were seen running away from the violence too. Pathetic little people pandering to their Lord Trump.
That kind of gaslighting alone, in a just world, should make it so none of those idiots get elected again in any office. Don't pi$$ on my leg and tell me it's raining!
Load More Replies...It's because it's what they were made to believe by their leaders. The ones that say they are not sheep are the ones being herded. Not living in USA it very hard not to generalise but some people I see on TV seem not only very thick and dumb but also very indoctrinated buy religion and politics.
Living in the US and watching it on TV, it made me have second hand embarrassment. Just could not believe how uncivilized...
Load More Replies...First: Thank you Zack Vander. Nailed it! This is much more serious then just labeling these people as stupid. They knew exactly what they were doing. They planned it. They came armed and ready to kill out congressmen. This was premeditated. And these are very dangerous and deeply deranged individuals.
The people are idiots. But it is true that a large amount of idiots together is downright dangerous…. This is a perfect example. If enough of them band together there is no telling what they’ll think is “okay” to do.

To be cunning you have to be smart. Which he is not.

Probably get downvoted to hell for it, but widespread continued use of single-use plastics. It's insane. We know these things end up in the oceans and in the food chain (and therefore inside us) but we keep using them all the same. Future generations are going to hate us for this.
People are just going to buy what they can and it's up to manufactures to provide affordable packaging that is environmentally friendly.
Manufacturers are using whatever is cheap and legal to use, so it’s up to politicians to restrict plastic use. Some third world countries have banned single-use plastic bags but the rich countries don’t seem to care.
Load More Replies...In The Netherlands we're now charged a small fee when buying things that come in plastic packaging, and though I agree with the idea that 'less consumers, less production', how the f**k am I supposed to transport that salad other than the plastic container it came in, that I want to buy because I forgot my lunch at home and now have no food? Offer me an alternative package and I'll gladly pay for that instead of plastic. Now you're punishing the consumer when there's no alternative.
Kind of the same in Canada., basically anything in a plastic bottle. They got rid of plastic bags, except for the small produce and meat bags, and charge for paper bags at fast food places (you can opt not to have the bag).
Load More Replies...I’m helping with the collective fight that’s needed in order to change this. If everyone who posted a bunch of hot air about how terrible “we” are would channel that same energy into contributing to one of the many group efforts going on at the moment, we’d be further along. And those who post this kind of thing and then vote right wing belong at the top of this stupidity hall of fame.
In many cases we don't have a lot of choice. It's near impossible to buy products that aren't wrapped/packaged in plastic. Really we need governments to step in and legislate it, no matter how unpopular.
Reading about the amount of microplastics we each have inside of us and how we simply do not know the long term damage this could do makes me try to avoid plastic in general, not just single use.
Im working on a story in which the new dominant species hundreds of million years in the future, descended from the Red Swamp Crayfish and its future descendants, discover the remnants of humanity and find out abt plastic, climate change, deforestation, war, and ultimately, what led to the extinction of humanity, and many other lifeforms. Keep in mind that this story isnt like a "oh humans are evil destructive monsters", its more like the only way we can fix things is if we actually do something about it
Recently noticed that in Coca-Cola commercials the actors are always shown with the little glass bottles of Coke, but in the stores all you ever see are plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Glass and aluminum are easily recycled yet Coke continues to bottle in plastic.
Coke is still sold in glass bottles, but they're labelled as 'classic' or some such and sold at a premium price.

Putting a major player of OPEC as head of the conference, holding the conference in Dubai ..... believe me, the jets are just the tip of the iceburg.
That's how you discredit a platform while looking like you support it. In reality, taking any plane, anywhere, is an environmental disaster, but when you put the wolf in charge of the hens, it becomes a footnote. Remember that the long game is to transfer the responsibility of this environmental catastrophe to consumers rather than to the corporations actually committing the environmental crimes.
What is so wrong with virtual meetings? Are they not flashy enough? One can always bedazzle their background to reflect whatever they want to add extra flair or flavor.

Any of the hundreds of megachurches across the world.
If a church takes its parishioners money and spends it on fancy buildings and fountains and the preacher is wearing fancy suits instead of putting those donations back into the community I like to imagine sky daddy's thumb coming out the clouds and smooshing that building. In America some of the churches that televise their worship pay professional singers to sing in their choirs. My cousin is an opera singer in LA, that was a good regular income for him. Meanwhile preachers in Africa sell their own holy 'elixirs' they promise cure all ailments out of their churches after their service...

The rise of Qanon and the Flat Earth Society.
When the internet was new we were taught that anyone can put anything on the internet and that we had to check the source of such material. We were not allowed to use more than one internet based source in papers. It's the ignorance of trusting strangers on the internet brewed with a growing mistrust of government after things like wikileaks with a dollop of apocalypse anxiety making them want to be a part something positive (saving 'the children' being trafficked). Qanon used conspiracy theories that have a ring of truth, there was a child trafficking ring; Epstein who we know had connections with rich and powerful men (like Trump). Now flat earthers, that's just a cult of idiots.
Also, schools do not teach critical thinking anymore.

70 million people in the US voted for a completely unqualified person for President - TWICE.
Politicians just need to be likeable. Elections are literally popularity contest, and that's only on the surface. In the US, it's established that winning the popular vote doesn't determine the presidency. Still go out and vote, but know one of the things you need to vote towards is de-corrupting the US government.

Anti-vaxers dying in hospitals screaming, “Tell me what I’ve got!! Covid doesn’t exist!!”
You have Moron-orrhea. Incurable and there's no treatment for that. Best to live your days far away from society so you don't infect others.
The stupidity can't be understated. I know someone who's an anti-vaxxer and has had covid 4 times. Plus they do whatever street drug they can get their hands on, including crack and fentanyl. But, yeah, vaccines are poison.
"I'm afraid you have Oral Incontinence Ma'am, you can't hold your blabber!"
I believe hundreds of Americans are still dying every week from the effects of COVID. Vast majority un-vaxxed, of course. Perhaps most of them are also GOP voters... that'll be interesting come voting time.
Do you have a source? How do you know vast majority unvaxxed? I realize this is a year old and things can change, but I just read this: https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL1N32R1UI/ Don't hate me, I just wanna remind people not to spread their opinions as fact.

Same! My entire family was fully vaccinated and got it with no symptoms severe enough to require intensive medical care. The vaccine certainly worked.

Anti-vaxxers by far. I find it rather ironic that people can discount things like vaccines because vaccines have created a world where kids aren't dying left and right from childhood illnesses. I am not aware of any antivaxxers existing when the Polio vaccine came out because Polio was a horror show.
In the 60s when I was a kid it was more common to see people who had been crippled by polio. Think Southpark "Jimmy" on those metal crutches and the Forest Gump leg braces.
Isn’t that Jimmy? Timmy is in the wheelchair.
Load More Replies...My father-in-law kept a journal from his youth. It was eye opening the number of entries that were "Had to cancel a birthday party" or other group event because someone was diagnosed with Polio. I NEVER heard of that in my lifetime and I am only one generation younger.

Load More Replies...There were anti vaxers when George Washington wanted the smallpox cowpox inoculation. There were anti vaxers during polio. Check out how many people got vaccinated for polio after Elvis did. The dumbest thing I ever saw was the panic, no one made anyone get any vaccine. There were people at my hospital who refused and lost their jobs, but that was a choice. Freedom of choice ‘my body my choice’ was never questioned… until row v wade. Then those same people suddenly said there was no choice. Pot kettle
I means, stupidity transcends time. I worked every shift in the hospital, fully vaccinated, saving lives. My apologies my ‘attitide’ came across as condoning. I’ve treated full anti vaccinated patients with the same love and care as every patient. A comment said they wondered of people were against vaccinations during polio times. And the answer was yes. There were also anti mask people during the 1918 flu.
Load More Replies...COVID decimated high density communities. Take New York City for example. Many conservatives live in rural areas and did not see many people around them die from it. Therefore they thought it was not real or very serious. FOX News' lies also did not help matters. FOX, the "news" source that does not have the public's welfare in mind at all. Only profits.
Measles, mumps, chickenpox, polio and a few others are circulating when they are preventable due to vaccines.
The antiwaxers communicate via satellites, through invisible electromagnetic waves on supercomputers in their pockets, but when it comes to vaccination, they don't believe science straight away.
People wearing a mask, but UNDER the nose. How dumb is that?
What I find absolutely amazing is that now I can go into a place that doesn't require a mask and there will be people wearing a mask like this. It was bad enough that people worn them wrong when required, but wearing them wrong when they aren't required requires "flat Earth" level at stupidity!
No. Medically and emotionally I sometimes have to get fresh air. I mostly still wear them to keep others at a distance and to remind myself to keep mine.
Load More Replies...At my previous job we had catalogs for customers to look through for ordering merchandise. I was attending to one customer and she nonchalantly pulled her mask down to cough into her hand and continued flipping through the pages. The lack of self-awareness is astounding.
THANK YOU. I found it very concerning when businesses actually had to put up signs with directions and diagrams of how to wear a freakin mask. Ugh, why are so many people this dumb? 😖

Load More Replies...Not every idiot wore them under the nose. Sometimes they just removed that part entirely. stupid-wom...b62361.jpg
Debating the usefulness of masks. These masks were designed to control the exhalation of the wearer, not the inhalation of others. Dr's, nurses, etc, don't wear masks to keep from getting your cancer or your heart attack - they wear them to prevent giving you an infection in your weakened state. These masks are for sick people. But in a society where the sick people refuse to wear them, what do you do? Wear an N95 that should require a respiratory fit-test prior to use? (both to ensure no leakage, and ensure the physical fitness of the wearer) But these idiots double-down, by questioning whether these hospital masks work in preventing the spread of disease! AND the CDC etc buy in to their idiocy by discussing their "point"! NO! They only work if the sick, anti-vaxxer wear them - they were never designed to prevent healthy people from getting sick! In Asian societies, this was the norm - if you were sick, you wear a mask to protect those around near you, a lesson the West never learned
Whereas I agree that the main use of these masks is for you not to spread your germs to others. That isn't to say they are totally ineffective in the other direction. Part of the "formula" for if you are going to get sick is the number of germs that get in your system. If you can reduce the number of germs, you have a chance at reducing the chance of getting sick. I live in the San Francisco Bay area which has a high population or Asian people. And they have always worn masks during the flu season, and not just because they are sick. In truth, if you know you are sick you shouldn't be running around in public doing unneeded shopping.
Load More Replies...This one really bugs me cause so many people have no idea how they actually work but have strong opinions about them anyways. They mostly protest others from your germs, less protection the other way around. Also masks made of cloth are useless unless they are properly washed after EVERY use and people just don't do that. In healthcare disposable masks lasts like 3 hours but only if you do not touch them with your hands during that time.
During the Canadian trucker freedom rally, watching the mass of people protest and getting mad about their “2nd Amendment rights”. I’m like 90% sure that the Canadian 2nd Amendment is recognizing Manitoba as a province….. not the right to bear arms like our southerly neighbours.
The whole farce would have been laughable had it not been so severe for the downtown Ottawa residents. Never underestimate the potential damage of stupid.

I went to school with Tamara Lich for two years. After I moved to Coaldale, she advised me to make sure I was making friends with the "right sort of people." Seriously, in grade 9. I thought it was cause I was a nerd making friends with the other nerds. I didn't realize until all this convoy c**p came out that she was specifically telling me not to be friends with the one black kid in class. She, and the other convoy people, are complete and total psychopaths that literally want a white evangelical Christian nation. She, personally, is a literal Nazi
There was one Conservative MP (Member of Parliament) who showed his support for the convoy by handing out coffee and donuts to these protestors. That same MP is now the leader of the Conservative Party, which is now trying to emulate the U.S. Republican Party.
Sorry, but my - maybe stupid - question has nothing to do with the post (or maybe a little) ; 'to bear', is that to carry, literally or what is meant here? And what is 'bare'? I'm no English native
Bear = to carry, bare = unclothed/uncovered. So "bear arms" = carry a gun, "bare arms" = sleeveless shirt.

It becomes more believable when you look at how many other pieces of shít have been beating and raping women all this time.
Load More Replies...Andrew Tate is charged with human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group. He's also known for getting into a Twitter spat with Greta Thunberg, his kickboxing career and misogynistic videos. Here's everything you need to know about the controversial figure.
The thing with him was, he was a nobody with a tiny following, then some people made him the face of misogyny, wrote articles on him, and built him up as this big person. What they did was give him legitimacy, and made him a counter culture personality. Had those original critics ignored him, he would have stayed small and insignifcant.
He is a pimp and a systematic abuser. I fail to see how ignoring him would have been a better tactic. He needed to be stopped. Do all the other pimps and traffickers also need to be stopped? Sure. I even have some ideas on how to go about it, but this śhitstain was actually advertising methods for taking young women and enslaving them. He makes me vomit.
Load More Replies..."Give a coward a mask and you'll see who they truly are." The rich ones at the top are just in for the tax dodge. A lot of the ones below them are in it thinking they can shmooze with the rich ones at the top and become one of them some days. So yea dumb but with a layer of greed involved.
This is literally describing capitalism. Is Scientology just capitalism with aliens?
I can't believe anyone follows a religion made up by a science fiction writer who had his 'vision' when he had a bad reaction to being anesthetized during a dentist appointment. I once had a vision in a Taco Bell toilet while tripping 'shrooms, where's my cult, or, I mean, religion?
He certainly proved just how gullible some people are. But the ones running it know it's a money making machine.
Load More Replies...Once again I have to bring up the children. They are basically ripped away from their parents as soon as they're old enough to provide manual labor and spread the gospel of Scientology. ANY parent who allows their children to be abused by this church IS NOT a parent.
And also parents who have children who are not members of the church have to cut any and all ties with them. Like how could any cult, sorry group pretending to be a religion, ever think that's okay and should be encouraged? Don't most cults, sorry I mean religions, preach about family, love, the home unit, togetherness and the general lifting up of children? Scientology does the exact opposite of that, children are NOT to be revered in any sort of manner, they are a hinderance, which I find to be so very sad, even ignoring every other thing wrong with this cult.

My generation, raised knowing how absolutely awful smoking is, excessively vaping.
I completely agree that that kind of advertisement is terrible. However, I dont see the advertising as mass stupidity - it's more like a lack of moral.
Load More Replies...As a Boomer, I don't feel the younger generation is anywhere near as stupid as the other older generations. Yes, vaping is NOT good for anyone, but it is not nearly nearly as f**king a killer as the smoking and second hand smoke exposure as my generation bought into.
I used to think that vaping would be THE ANSWER to smoking. I always thought that it was the smoke itself that did the vast majority of harm (maybe 99% of the harm), and that nicotine itself was no worse than caffeine. I quit smoking last year, and have since learned that isn't the truth. Nicotine itself damages DNA, and has other really harmful effects. Vaping seemed like a good alternative for people who were already smokers (although it harmed me personally), but it really saddens me that kids are now addicted to nicotine, wasting money and health on it, just like previous generations did on cigarettes.
Load More Replies...I think a lot of it was the idea that it was 'better' than smoking. How hard is it to be better than the damage cigarette smoking causes? Like instead of a 90% chance of lung disease, vaping gives you an 80% chance (not actual statistics).
Vaping got me off cigs after smoking for over 20 years. My chest doesn't hurt anymore, I'm not coughing anymore and I no longer smell like an ash tray. I only wish it was invented sooner.
so far we do not know the long term effects of vaping. what about alcohol nobody seems to care about alcohol anymore, but it is by far worse than cigarettes and more accepted.

I would agree with the first statement, except that the victims of these "challenges" are mostly naive kids and kids are stupid. We all were. Maybe some were smart enough to know that detergent could hurt or kill you, but not smart enough to understand that cinnamon, despite being 'food," could actually suffocate you if inhaled. Load More Replies...Most aren't denying that it is happening and has happening, they're disputing causation. When those who believe in anthropogenic global warming are taking lots of fossil fueled travel, eating meat, using vast amounts of energy, etc and so on, well, sure looks like they only pay lip service.
A whole generation of people somehow now have anger directed at medical science. And anger with intellectuals in general. Anti-science is rampant. They seem to take pride as a group in being idiots and uneducated.
Even IF there was a natural event going on, creating these drastic changes, it is just stupid to accelarate it even more. What strikes me the most is the fact that nobody disagrees that staying in a closed room with the motor of a gasoline driven car in full operation is not very healthy, even if the redt of the room is filled with plants. The earths atmosphere is a gigantic "room". It will take longer to poison the air, but there is no window we can open towards space, to let fresh air in, and the toxic parts will not miraculously vanish.
The rise of the anti-vaccine crowd. Or generally the growing anti-science mindset in our culture.
So many people dead...
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” - Asimov (It's statistically conservative governments that give rise to such movements)
Yeah because science is just an opinion and scientists don't know better than the average person even though they spent years studying a topic and became the expert in their field! /s
Kiwi here. At the worst of the outbreak of covid we were living fairly normal lives because our government had shut its borders and we’d done a couple of lockdowns. So here we are going about our lives while the rest of the world is burning and we still to this day get idiots who complained about our government keeping us safe while we waited on the vaccine which they also complained about.
I would say leave them alone and let them unalive themselves off if their stupidity didn’t hurt other people
My daughter is an anti vaxer. She has a son who is on the autism spectrum and she firmly believes he was turned by being vaccinated at 2 years old. I can’t convince her otherwise so we rarely talk anymore. Breaks my heart
Why trust doctors who spend decades studying medicine in sophisticated labs when you can watch the YouTube video of some self proclaimed expert while you’re sitting on the toilet?
Every time I see a video of someone being beat up, or in some sort of bad/dangerous situation and everyone is just standing around recording instead of helping.
You can use that footage to instantly put it on the internet and spread it, and even if you don't get it involved it be as good as a testimony. Also, in the US, those people beating up might have guns.
I’ve seen activists saying that you actively SHOULD record things like police brutality, for exactly this reason.

My local parks playground has a push gate. EVERYDAY I watch grown adults stare at it for like 20 seconds then go "I think it's locked is there another one?" To which I walk up and...... Push the gate open. What annoys me about this is they want to catch an attitude like I'm an ahole for it.
No, they're just a bit weirded out by you lurking next to the gate of a playground every day.
Well in all fairness, you could simply tell them that it's push instead of making a show of walking over and demonstrating... Although, yes, they should be able to figure it out by just trying. You wanna be a real hero? Put a sign on the door that says 'push'. This should help most lol
Wait... Do you sit around at this playground on a regular basis just waiting for the opportunity to try to make others feel dumb to gain a sense of superiority?

I have a push gate leading to my front porch. Barely nudge it and it opens. Most delivery drivers figure it out. Then there's THAT one person who doesn't even try to figure it out and leaves my package either sitting on top of the gate or on the ground. Where it can now been seen from the road/sidewalk, rather than being on my safe and out of view porch. Infuriates me. A quick glance would show only a spring and no mechanism on the gate.

Someone I knew awhile ago had a theft record a mile long. One time, she went in front of the judge, who told her "You know, every time you've appeared in front of me, you've denied stealing. They have you on camera, clearly walking out of the store with unpaid merchandise. So, here's what we're going to do: you can admit you did it this time, and I'll let you walk out of here today, with probation. If you still deny it, then I'll sentence you to 90 days right here, right now".
Now, her attorney looked at her and said three words: "Take the deal". She said something back, shaking her head. Her attorney then looked at the judge, and said "Your honor, my client maintains her innocence"; BOOM, three months in the county jail, just like that.
It never ceases to amaze me how some people would rather jump off of the Empire State building (or lose their freedom) than simply admit they are wrong.

In the UK, Brexit. Dishonest rabble rousing politicians lied to a gullible public in a non-binding referendum promoted by a shady conservative PM in order to fix the conflicts within his own party.
We lost a lot and are still feeling the consequences.
they lied basically had big adverts saying we send 350 million to the EU and we can put that back into the NHS they played on peoples fears as well
Conservative playbook: insist you’re just trying to be “fiscally responsible,” when what you’re really after is cutting your own taxes and screwing everyone else.
Load More Replies...Uh, don't. The NHS is still waiting on this £300 million it was going to get when the UK left the EU. The same people that voted for Brexit are the same people complaining that they have to queue in the immigration line at the airport when they go on their annual holiday to Menorca.
And don't forget they complain about the amount of alcohol and tobacco products have decreased to bring back. And when someone points out their stupidity they reply "if you love the EU so much, why not move there".....um, you idiots took our right to that away!
Load More Replies...For me it's the fact that it is widely acknowledged that pro-brexit politicians blatantly lied and nothing is being done about it! Shouldn't there be a second referendum as people were misled? Shouldn't those politicians have repercussions? Shouldn't the continued mess that is brexit be stopped? No. At most we'll have an enquiry, because that's what Brits do, we spend loads of money putting on a public show of looking into what happened while nothing is done to fix what happened. It's a joke.
and since then the party in power have spent more time fighting among them selves than running the f*****g country, safe in the knowledge they get a pension for life no matter how useless and dishonest they are. and labout are just tories with a different coloured tie, no policies other than waht they think we want to hear when all we want is someone with a minimum of half a brain that can do maths without giving millions to their backers for useless ppe. but yeah, its poor people in boats that caused all this is what they say cos they cant say we're just racist shites pandering to the lowest common denominator (looking at all you tomeh robinsins wannabes)

The b******t sentiment that EU laws were the root of the problem but in fact the EU left it open for the member states to apply those laws. It was easier to blame the EU for immigration than to deal with it, the EU allowed member states to cap EU immigration levels but the UK government didn't do it. Whilst all the racist pro-Brexit vitriol was flying the government wouldn't fight back because the problem was actually them using the EU as a scapegoat and now we're led by a bunch of money grabbing shysters trying to shut down media outlets that criticise them using tactics honed by Hitler.
Religion. Full stop.
I’m gonna pîss in some of my fellow atheists’ cornflakes: we have exactly the same capacity to be stupid, selfish, callous or idol-worshipping as religious people do, and I’ll take a humble religious person over the worst-behaved atheists any day.
The truth is that although atheists make up between 20~50% of western population. Depends on the country and indoctrination at primary school levels. Less then 1% are incarcerated. There's not a lot of badly-behaved atheists. Understanding that you shouldn't do to others what you wouldn't want done to oneself and, you've only got one life, don't fork it up, enjoy it!!. It's not a doctrine. it's not a belief, it's self explanatory. BrownTabby, I as an atheist don't have the time or resources the church or any religion has with innocent children to scare the xite out of them into believing they are born sinners. That would be evil. That's the nice part, "make'em believe in father xmas" so the behave. The evil part is the bigotry, misogyny and partisan dogmas of hate.
Load More Replies...I find religion as a source of comfort for me, but there's a difference between believing and preaching. I don't shout about it because I know a lot of people don't feel the same.
The idea of a church is fantastic. A place where community members meet each week to get to know each other and find out how they could support each other and the community. A place to discuss opinions and learn from each other. Just leave the sky wizard out of it.
Religion can be a good thing, but only when it is something you do yourself and not force onto anyone.
I think that religion is a kind of self-deception, that the cause of bad things is not up to us, but that everything happens under the control of a higher power. But it's not a god who sends the tornado or hailstorm, not who puts the cancer cell in the brain of the little kid nor who makes the brick fall on our head. I don't think there is any supernatural power and we should look out for each other and rely on each other.
So you are fixated on why bad things happen? So if life isn't a utopia there is no God? Were are humanity and its flaws in your equation. Can a God exist in a world were humans have free will?...
Load More Replies...Okay, guys, religion itself is not bad, it's the people that use it to justify hurting/judging/dismissing people. As an anthropologist that studies ancient religion, the concept has always been to help humans not feel alone and have a place to direct their gratitude for living. It evolved to becoming a guide for life and death for some, for others, it's the same as it started. Even the word 'religion' has different meanings in different cultures. Religion is basically Spirituality with tax exempt status in certain countries, otherwise it's just a way of life.

Maybe not the most severe, but one that everyone here has personally seen at least once in their lives. When at an airport and the gate agent says "We're about to commence boarding. Please remain in your seats until your group has been called.", and then half the people waiting stands up and crowds the gate in a scene of utter chaos. Every time, without fail.
Like the plane will leave without them or someone will take their seat. Guys. Come on 😂. I go absolutely last. Less time on a plane seat the better
I belive some of it has to do with the fact that airlines now charge for checked bags and more and more people travel with hand luggage. So, it's not a rush for not missing a seat, of for missing the plane, but a rush to secure overhead bin space... the alternative is to have the hand luggage on your feet, which is quite uncomfortable
Load More Replies...Same ones who immediately stand up and crowd the aisle when the plane lands.
I wait till the last minute to board a plane. It's cramped. It's smelly. It's stuffy. I could go on... I do not understand people who rush on to planes just to have to sit in a tiny seat and get smacked around by people and luggage
It's like, "Yay! I get to be on the plane for even longer.". Ugh... is 14 hrs not long enough for you?
I'm always the last one. I tell the staff at the gate I'm there. I wait till the finger is empty and stroll on like a king.
I so agree, however I'm one of those idiots that, although I have an assigned seat and WILL be able to board anyway, becomes anxious when I see a line forming and will probably also queue. I don't know why, I just can't not for some reason.
Fine. Then PLEASE stand to the side so those that will be boarding earlier can get through you Gate Lice and onto the plane.
Load More Replies...Sadly a lot of airlines actively encourage people to stand in line for boarding, sometimes for thirty minutes or more. They want all passengers to be at the gate so they call the flight for boarding early and lots of people haven't worked out that with pre-allocated seats it doesn't matter if they're first or last on the plane. In any case, there is often little or no seating at the gate itself, depending on the airport. I always sit just close enough to see the queue and only get up when it's down to the last three or four people.
People need to pack less so there will be less fighting for the overhead storage bins. That would solve the whole problem. People rush so they can overcrowd the bins. 🤦🏽♀️
Ummm… not so. You are only allowed 2 items and the size is restricted.
Load More Replies...I will never understand people that want to get on the plane earlier. Even if I had first class seats, I would want to be the LAST person to get on. And I will also never understand how 80% of the passengers stand up the moment the plane hits the gate... to just stand there for another 20 minutes or so. I get up when it's my turn to get off the plane, and not a second before.
The great toilet paper rush at the start of COVID. There was nothing about COVID that threatened the global toilet paper supply, and yet people just started panic-buying it and artificially creating a huge shortage.
(We would eventually realize that there *was* a small uptick in toilet paper sold for private use, as many people were going to the bathroom at home more than at work, but no one realized that at the time and it had *nothing* to do with the panic - people just started buying more because people were buying more.)
I really didn't get it. I'm not saying TP is not necessary, but in dire times you can find an alternative solution, ie find a way to wash yourself if TP is not available. I would expect more hoarding of food that is not immediately perishable, or medicaments or else, not TP (not that this wouldn't be silly, only less silly)
We did have trouble here with people buying dried pasta and long life milk- including all the gluten free and alternative mills for people with allergies. So people with allergies struggled to get safe food for a while until the supermarkets brought in limits of what people could buy in one shop.
Load More Replies...This is more defensible than it appears. No one knew how long lockdowns would last. So they'd buy double their normal and move on. But *everyone* did that. Normally TP doesn't go at once, so need it today, some next week, some next month. But suddenly EVERYONE needed. At the same time. That's what broke the supply chain. And once stores struggled to supply, people panic bough it in huge bulk, grossly misinterpreting the situation. But that happened near the end when the actual damage was already done.
It was the panic buying of hand wash for me. I mean, what were you doing before Covid? On second thoughts, perhaps I don't want to know.
That's where my love for solid soaps and overbuying by mistake came in handy.
Load More Replies...The panic buying of anything during covid was ridiculous. Here in the UK the supermarket shelves were completely empty just before lockdown was announced, but the supermarkets remained open during lockdown so it was pointless. Telling the public that there is no need to panic buy created a panic. 🤣
I honestly thought I'd miss diarrhea being a symptom of COVID the way it disappeared off the shelves!!
I do remember people trying to grab TP out of the cages when staff were coming out of the stock rooms at supermarkets. It was not a small uptick
the small uptick referred to was the actual increase in use, not the temporary artificial increase in demand.

With all the pro-Hamas rallies, the targeting of Jewish-owned businesses, kosher restaurants, firebombing synagogues or Jewish community centers, harassing Jewish students and physically preventing them from attending classes and locking diners in restaurants because they’re mad at the Israeli government. Going after Jews in the Diaspora isn’t going to “free Palestine.”
I don’t think they’re pro-Hamas; they’re pro-Palestinian. There’s a big difference.
If the word Intifada comes up OR from "the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free" then it IS pro Hamas. Hamas however doesn't care about anyone in Gaza. The poor Palestinians are getting hit from both sides
Load More Replies...It's not Pro-Hamas, it's Pro-Palestine. If you want to spread the correct knowledge that not all Jews are Zionists then correctly recognise that all Palestinians are not Hamas.

Who would you prefer as a neighbour, a member of Hamas or a Jewish family. I was friends with a group of Palestinians a few years ago. They had to leave Palestine because they had a western lifestyle. The evil Hamas does to its own people in Gaza is never spoken about. If you don't collaborate, if your kids aren't seen throwing stones. Let's not talk about how the treat woman. This is a land and statehood issue that foolish and politically opportunistic people want to declare as a religious war. We all have to stop shouting and start listening.
This is not a land or statehood issue. The Palestinians have rejected Israel's last five offers of land for peace. They want ALL of Israel's land. There are 22 Arab countries (50+ muslim majority countries) and one Jewish country, but one is too many for them.

There's innocent people being killed on both sides and bad guys on both sides. It is a complicated conflict and it's not as simple as x group is good and y group is bad
Israel is performing ethnic cleansing and killing literally THOUSANDS of innocent Palestinians as it carpet bombs Gaza. The goal is to completely remove Palestinians from their homes so Israel can raze it and rebuild it just for Israelis. Cults take something traditional but old-fashioned and hyper it up. Charles Manson strummed a guitar and attracted hippies. They get their foot in the door and encourage people to devote more and more time to them by giving them the promises and words they want to hear. The people who first join them are not idiots, but they are driven that way.
Let's not forget that many cult members are people who are vulnerable and are looking for safety, which these cult leaders give them false promise of. Now of course there are also plenty of cult members who join of their own free will, but as far as I'm aware, most cultists are weak, vulnerable, desperate people seeking some form of solitude. Please try to understand this. Many people try to escape cults for a reason. None of this applies to the Great Orange Idiot's cult though, they're all just morons.
I could almost cut the cult-members some slack since they are usually vulnerable and gullible. EXCEPT for that fact they inflict their idiotic beliefs on their children. Anyone rememberJim Jones, where parents willingly poured poison kool-aid down their kids throats, but were then too cowardly to drink it. This stuff go waaaaayyyy beyond obsessive adoration.

The whole Camel through the eye of a needle thing from the Bible never quite clicked with this crowd.
People have no idea how bad they wire true believers. I survived teenagehood (barely) with a mother that believed every part of it hard. Anything that got in the way of her prosperity was demonic intervention. Every penny I earned as a teenager went to pay food and bills cause she gave so much she couldn't even cover $700/mo in rent in the '00s. I desperately wanted to kill myself, but I knew life would get better once I got out. And I did. When I was 17 her and her husband kicked me out in the middle of December, on a 20 below 0 Celsius day, 40km from town. That's the Christian love of people who follow the likes of Donald Trump and Kenneth and Gloria Copeland
Yeshua must be spinning in his grave about how his teachings have been bent over the centuries, but the prosperity gospel is just about s pure contradiction of what he said.
Exactly. It never ceases to amaze me how many of my fellow Christians seem to think "what would Jesus do?"

Prosperity gospel teaches that God will give you a lot of money if you give the preacher a lot of money.

What Hamas did on the 7th was one of the most horrifying things the world has witnessed. Israel seems to be doubling on that now

I see so many people on social media giving youtubers a hard time for not speaking up about Palestine or Israel, meanwhile I'm willing to bet a thumb that those same people didn't give two shits about ALL the other conflict we have going on (not to compare wars or anything),
How about being called antisemitic for denouncing Israel's actions? I'm denouncing a State not a people, I'm not blaming a people for this just a bunch of psycho tosspots sitting at the top of the pile. The same with Hamas, I don't blame all Palestinians for the actions of a few. Both sides are equally appalling in this, doesn't mean I'm blaming everyone of the same race and/or religion as them for it.
You might be underestimating how many people have been aware of the ongoing situation for decades
To maintain my personal mental health, I choose not to get into such topics. Don't get me wrong, it's horrible what happens in war situations and crimes against humanity.
The remaining hostages will never be returned. Hamas cannot reveal the extent of their heinous and inhumane torture and mutilation of those hostages that are now intentionally kept in hiding. They risk the wrath of the world once their depravity is revealed. NOTE: Hamas DOES NOT represent the Palestinian people. They are not to be blamed.
Pizzagate gotta be up there.
Qanon is not under an umbrella. It's under a dunce cap.

That's not idiotic. It's their money, their choice. If that is what they want to "blow" that much money on, then more power to them. No skin off my nose.
Just because something is a choice doesn't mean it's not an idiotic choice.

The likelihood is that the tour promoter has a big hand in the ticket prices and it is not purely down to the artist

Paying for something you enjoy is not idiotic. It's called self care. Are you aware what people spend on super bowl tickets? and they've been doing that for decades now. Those are the stupid people watching grown men try to move a ball a few feet at a time for hours on end. at least taylor can sing and she's easy on the eyes.
The super bowl tickets and games in general are ridiculously expensive too.

Back in the early 2000s so many morons purchased houses that they couldn't afford. You can blame the banks all you want but if you had at least half a brain you knew you to be cautious.
I don't know, who is more of the idiot, the person that can't really afford a house going in getting a zero down, interest only loan on a house, living in that house until it is repossessed. Or the bank that approves such a loan and ends up with a house that has gone down in value and has to be sold at a loss.
the banks didn't lose though, they got bailed out by governments so the rich were saved by punishing the poor for rich peoples greed, as is usual. it doesn't happen for mom and pop stores, only those owned by the 1% and investment companies (asset strippers). you'd think those guys would follow their own advice and save for a rainy day but instead we bail them out. probably wont be long before we're all bailing ego and bozo out

Bad when parents put a lot of pressure on their adult kids to buy beyond their means. We need to embrace alternatives
There were a lot of shady people out there selling these homes telling people they COULD afford them. I knew someone, and I warned them multiple times, that was told by a "friend" a) That they could afford a house way over their means, b) To take out a loan where the interest rate was not set and would go up after a short time! Guess what, that person eventually lost the house. Surprise, surprise.

That is utterly false. The vast majority of protests and demonstrations do not degenerate into violence, and they frequently have positive results.
