I've seen this on television. There's a species of desert frogs that bury themselves in the mud after it rains. The mud dries, and they stay underground, sometimes for years, until it rains again. They come back to life. Then they have a mating frenzy and bury themselves again. Or something like that...

They also free solid and thaw Back to Life too. Remember doing that in science classes a kid now that I think about it that was kind of mean what we did to that frog

Incredible! We have frogs here in the Sonoran desert (Arizona) which only come out during the summer monsoon storms- and we find dried out husks of frogs once the storms go away... I've never tried to "just add water" but that's certainly a plan this year! I will FREAK OUT if it actually works!

My cat brings me those almost every day. Bad enough when they are dead, but to catch them when alive is worse. They are jumpers.

I've heard of this happening before. Frogs and toads can do weird stuff like this. They can go into a type of hibernation when condition when the climate isnt safe for them.

Actually had small freshwater aquarium frogs - use to get out and had a couple that I threw back in the tank that lived

You can drown a grasshopper or bee and then leave him to dry. They come back to life. I was a creepy child.
