It does look better, but why would anyone get rid of cabinets and a range hood, and what is this trend with open shelving? Also, it appears, there is no backsplash behind the stove... and what's with that rack thing on the wall behind the stove? I'll bet that's fun to clean cooking splatter off of after making a meal.
Should have put a range hood, they are design to be in a kitchen. That fan is probably not powerful enough the suck rapidly the steam out plus it's going to be a pain to clean.
Hahahahaha. Enough with the Mason jars! This is what's wrong with kids using design magazines as source material with no educated/experienced reality check; cooking in this kitchen would be a cruel joke. They removed the hood ventilation for the GAS stove! Gas has exhaust, not to mention cooking almost anything puts particulate material in to the air. Then, they painted everything white and took all the dishes and pantry items out of the cabinets with doors. (All the rage, however, an utterly stupid fad that will go away.) These newly weds are about to find out what cleaning with no end is like. Post script: No oven. That floor is ugly as sin. Ikea pine countertops stain very easily and have a two-three year lifeline.
I love Mason jars for storage, but I don’t keep them out in view. And I agree with everything else, although I like and considered wood countertops before going with granite. Wasn’t sure I could maintain them.

I wouldn't have taken out the cabinets, not so into open shelving everywhere, and I would have left the range hood, but in the end this picture is the proof of what a little paint can do!
I don’t think it is carpet — you can see a line in the left lower corner of both pictures,and in the Before picture it has a sheen. I’m pretty sure it’s linoleum.

This is blasphemy. Those cabinets are made of solid ribbon grain mahogany and they replaced this now impossible to get beautiful material with cheap painted IKEA cabinets. I could weep! /// I want to smack the owner.
Mahogany or not, they are visually heavy and dreary. We bought a house with the stove under a window and have no hood ventilation. The window can't be reached to be opened. I just finished painting our "real wood" cabinets in white and using a kit to renovate the hideous countertop. It won't last forever but after a huge renovation, the budget was depleted for the kitchen. Basically, they did the same thing here.

Paint everything white, turn a few more lights on,put some throws over stuff and consider it "made over" in the Changing Rooms mids 90's style ;)
That and they tidied up and cleaned up. I'd say at least half of these look better in the before than the after photos.

Imagine the same made over room couple of months later. Especially with all that white furniture and human love for making bulks of stuff lying around. Yes, looks good for photo but maintaining?

Am I the only person bothered by all the not having curtains thing? I really don't want anyone seeing what I'm doing when I get up and stagger around the house at night, and nobody needs to see it, lol. I like my privacy, plus I have trouble with too much sunlight, but this is just ridiculous. You live in the middle of a city fer cryin" out loud! And I really don't want to hear any complaints about people staring in windows when it's not trendy to have curtains, either. And Mark is right about the pseudo decorating on some of these, though some are pretty good.
They all look like something out of Sunset or Home and Garden magazines. Very professional, not at all homey or comfortable. Thumbs down to the lot
