I broke my leg 3 months into a relationship (unrelated to the relationship). My family had just left town that day. I had emergency surgery; she drove me to the surgery, picked up my meds during the surgery , picked me up when I woke up, drove me back to her place and took care of me for a month there. This included sponge baths, waking up to give me pain killers in the middle of the night so I wouldn’t wake up in agony, having food for me during the day when she went to work, and making sure I was happy overall. 4 years later and we are still together. If all that s**t ain’t romantic, I don’t know what is.

Totally agree. I'm dealing with a major flare of back issues, to the point where I spent 5 days in the hospital working to get the pain under control and monitoring weakness in one leg. I'm home now, but need a walker and other home mods to be here. Hubby not only got the shower bench I need, along with other stuff, he has been the one to have to help me into the shower, help me dry off and even help me off the commode once. He's helped me get dressed. He bought an air mattress so he can sleep downstairs with me, since I'm sleeping in a recliner for now. He has to do all the house stuff. If that ain't love, I don't know what is.

I've always had a passion for astronomy and it had been a childhood dream of mine to see the CERN supercolider in Switzerland. My gf not being much scientific herself didn't understand the beauty of such technology (she's an English teacher), started to cut back on expenditure on things she liked for a couple of months. I occasionally offered some financial support but she always kissed me saying there's nothing to worry about and so like any partner I worried my a** off. Some months passed it was nearing my birthday. I hadn't seen my gf all day as she went to work yet she arrived late. She came up to me with an envelope and simply sat besides me anticipating my reaction.
I slipped out 2 tickets to my childhood dream into my hands as well as cried like a child in her warm embrace. I'm smiling so much typing this!

This is so beautiful! Stuff like this reminds me of my husband; he literally treats me like I'm the only person that matters on this earth. I hate my birthday (1- it reminds me I'm getting OLD and 2- it's on Valentine's Day, which is a made up Hallmark holiday and I think it's stupid. I don't like hearts, pink or red crap and I'm not "girly" so even jewelry doesn't do "it" for me), but he always makes it special. We got married 9 months after meeting and it's been 8 years married this year. Been through a lot, but he's amazing and I'm so grateful to have him in my life

I once got a new phone and a girl said she wanted to see it. She messed with the phone for a bit, and when I got it back, her number was in it. That gesture went completely over my head and it wasn't until her friend and my friend yelled at me for being an idiot that I realized what that gesture meant.

Yes...And listening to me when I've had a bad day when nothing has gone right and everyone and everything has been on my last nerve the whole day. Its easy to listen when it's something funny, exciting, or good news. But my wife listens when I'm frustrated and feeling like I've failed at everything and I just want someone to know what I'm feeling. Just having someone acknowledge that I had a crap day helps. She may not understand the technical parts of what Im saying but she understands that I've been slapped down.

this one is my favourite. It's easy to do stuff or pay for things when you have time and money. But to be a good listener, that is rare. The guy I'm currently dating told me it took him more than 40 yrs to find someone he feels he can fully trust and talk about everything without being judged. That is the most beautiful compliment I've ever gotten. I think most men are not used to be allowed to speak freely, about everything and anything, with a woman they are dating.

Woke me up at 5:00 AM on my 30th b-day to tell me she was pregnant. We had been trying for 2.5 years. Best b-day ever. That kid is now 29 and given me a grand kid. Grand kids are absolutely the best.

My girlfriend remembers every detail of when we first started dating. On a long drive together one of our songs came on and she described the first night we listened to it and when she fell in love with me. She didn’t even finish the story because it just broke me. I was leaking tears and it wouldn’t stop. I rarely get someone who remembers something I did for them and for my gf to tells these back, filled my heart.

While i was working the whole day and eating s**t like junk food. She cooked and placed it in front of my door while i was at work(she lived 1 hour away from me, so she just drove for that). Coming home, seeing all that delicious food in front of my door was heart warming.

A woman I was dating worked late on my birthday one year and called to chat on her drive home. She apologized for missing my birthday and promised to make it up the next night. We talked for way longer than her typical drive, but I thought maybe she had gotten home and simply hadn’t told me.
Instead, she drove across town and was circling my neighborhood (gotta love suburbs where everything looks the same) searching for my house. She eventually found it and surprised me with a pint of ice cream and a balloon.

I lost my favorite pair of sun glasses at a building on campus. By the time I realized I was in my dorm and was swamped with a paper. I was upset and expressed this to her. She left and came back soaking wet. She went back to campus and walked along every path I had taken and checked the building for me to try and find them as a pick me up. Unfortunately she couldn’t find them but it was so sweet.

Threw me an unbelievable surprise 50th birthday party that had 75 attendees including friends from out of state and kept it a complete surprise from me. Absolutely blew me away the amount of work, months of coordination, and care that she put into it. One of the best nights of my life.
This was just this past January. I got her a calendar with pictures of dogs pooping on it. Pretty sure we're even.

My boyfriend's favourite economist died two years ago and he was secretly really cut up about it; he didn't let it show because he's a very proud man. Months before, he was telling me about a book this guy wrote that you can't find anywhere. I managed to find one copy and it was signed! I had it sent from the states and come Christmas Day, he opened it and freaked out. I said to hang on and look here. He said "it's not signed is it??" Teared up like a baby. Bless him.

I dated a girl who decorated a matchbox with the message "We're a great MATCH!", and filled it with edible "matches"; little pretzel sticks dipped in colored chocolate at the end to look like a match. She clearly put a lot of thought and effort into it, which was really what meant the most to me.
Unfortunately, no, we're not together anymore.
We broke up for a few reasons. We were in an LDR several hours apart, some long-term compatibility issues, etc. It kinda messed me up for a while, because she was a really, really sweet girl and I liked her...but, ya know, life goes on and so must we.

My girlfriend (now wife) spent 7 hours using public transportation to surprise me at home. Imagine this coming home from a full 8 hour shift starting at 6 am. Lifting heavy displays/TVs. I come home, my bedroom door is locked. I dead a** think it's my younger brother pulling a prank on me. I knock just wanting to go sit on my computer and watch some videos or play some games. When the door opens to my surprise there is the love of my life standing there telling me to be patient. My eyes tear up from a combination of feelings mostly joy. We hadn't seen each other physically in over a month just Skype. It totally made my day and weekend. Happily Married 5 years.

Honestly, pizza is wildly under-appreciated. Not only did it provide you with this lasting memory (I mean, your gf had a little to do with it as the bringer of pizza I guess...) but it can do so much more. For example, I think it should be used as a companion to all math classes. That's a damn geometry teacher right there. Think about it, its delivered in a square that's opened to reveal a circle only to turn into a triangle when you eat it. Oh yeah, AND it can teach fractions as you eat it!!! What can't this wonder food do??

Mine just happened this month. It was my 31st birthday and my lady asked all of my friends and family to wish me a happy birthday from a video made in their homes (due to CoViD-19) and edited it together into a 10 minute video. She randomly streamed it on the TV shortly after midnight. It made me feel amazing!

I loved pirates and it was my birthday. I’m a cook and I love food and all things related. While I was at work my girlfriend at the time made a pirate scavenger hunt with a piece of paper she burned and made look like a map. I was turning 23 and that was the best thing ever.

An ex-girlfriend and I dated for about 3 years and it wasn't until near the end of the relationship that I found out that she hated bacon. She knew I loved bacon, so she just kinda went with it and we would get it on pizza and she would make BLTs a lot for lunch. We had been together for a year when someone had slashed all 4 tyres on her car. I went and bought a whole new set and fitted them. At the end I passed out, and she took me to the doctors, who then sent me to hospital. I had my first Dilated Cardiomyopathy diagnosis. Chronic and severe. I thought she would leave when she was told that the only way to fix it was a heart transplant, but I have a weird blood type that makes it hard to get a new heart. I figured she would leave me as soon as it was polite. We have been together for 13 years now, and she always makes sure I am doing OK. I told her if she wants to, she can find a healthier man than me to take care of her. I won't be upset, as my care is a lot to put on someone so early in a relationship. She told me that she will never leave me and to stop being a stupid b*gger. She loves me and I make her laugh too much. We met on January 10th 2009 after coming across each other on Facebook on a school reunion page and started chatting

I have degenerative bone disease and it'll eventually make me wheelchair bound. It's painful and some days are just worse than others. I also cannot have any more children (I have 2)- my husband never had kids. I though for sure he'd end things with me, Bc who wants to deal with all this? Apparently he did, Bc when I found out about the disease, he immediately asked me to marry him so I could get on his insurance. This was almost 8 years ago and every year gets better. It doesn't sound that romantic, but for me, always being told (as a kid) no one would ever want me if I couldn't do this or that for them, that I wasn't pretty enough or good enough, that I should just be content with whatever I get thrown at me (fists or life in general), this was THE most romantic thing I'd ever had in my life. Btw, I no longer speak to the sperm donor who told me all that stuff when I was a kid!

Where do I even start. When my grandpa was terminally ill, 4-6 weeks to live. I didn’t have a job, and had spent all my savings when I moved to another country, when I heard about it. My wife (then girlfriend) didn’t even hesitate to scrap all her last savings together so I could see him one last time. I am eternally grateful for this. When I myself was quite sick, she cared so much about me, helped where she could and more than she should have been able to handle actually, as she herself wasn’t doing that well herself. But when I felt this unending love in all her actions, I had no other choice but to propose right there, still shivering and sweating 😅. She thought I was hallucinating or had fever dreams. But a minute later she happily accepted and so we were engaged, and I went back to sleep it out basically. Our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives. And when I couldn’t stop smiling, and she was the same. It was just another of these unforgettable moments.

Mine had always wanted a Karmann Ghia. We found one a few states away and picked it up (1971- his birth year). He's loved working on this thing- replaced almost everything from the ground up. For his 50th birthday, I got him 2 beautiful prints of his car (finished), one in a beautiful "shadow box" kind of frame and he literally cried. I try to come up with sentimental things to give him- he got emotional once when I braided a long piece of my hair and cut it off to place in a small "pill case", and he got all teary Bc when he was in Iraq, all his buddies had things like this from their SO's, but he didn't (and yeah, he was married back then, but his ex was kinda selfish and wouldn't even hold his hand in public). He is forever making sure that I don't want or need anything. Even when I say "I'm good" he'll inevitably brings home something for me if he stops somewhere. He's amazing and I'm the luckiest person on the planet!

I had an exceptionally rough morning getting to work because of late busses and weather so I missed my usual morning breakfast. Told her about it through text when she woke up and on my morning break Uber eats showed up with a coffee and breakfast wrap (plus a coffee for my buddy). I was blown away that it meant enough to her to do that.

It doesn't sound that romantic, but for me, always being told (as a kid) no one would ever want me if I couldn't do this or that for them, that I wasn't pretty enough or good enough, that I should just be content with whatever I get thrown at me (fists or life in general), this was THE most romantic thing I'd ever had in my life. Btw, I no longer speak to the sperm donor who told me all that stuff when I was a kid!

Where do I even start. When my grandpa was terminally ill, 4-6 weeks to live. I didn’t have a job, and had spent all my savings when I moved to another country, when I heard about it. My wife (then girlfriend) didn’t even hesitate to scrap all her last savings together so I could see him one last time. I am eternally grateful for this. When I myself was quite sick, she cared so much about me, helped where she could and more than she should have been able to handle actually, as she herself wasn’t doing that well herself. But when I felt this unending love in all her actions, I had no other choice but to propose right there, still shivering and sweating 😅. She thought I was hallucinating or had fever dreams. But a minute later she happily accepted and so we were engaged, and I went back to sleep it out basically. Our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives. And when I couldn’t stop smiling, and she was the same. It was just another of these unforgettable moments.

Mine had always wanted a Karmann Ghia. We found one a few states away and picked it up (1971- his birth year). He's loved working on this thing- replaced almost everything from the ground up. For his 50th birthday, I got him 2 beautiful prints of his car (finished), one in a beautiful "shadow box" kind of frame and he literally cried. I try to come up with sentimental things to give him- he got emotional once when I braided a long piece of my hair and cut it off to place in a small "pill case", and he got all teary Bc when he was in Iraq, all his buddies had things like this from their SO's, but he didn't (and yeah, he was married back then, but his ex was kinda selfish and wouldn't even hold his hand in public). He is forever making sure that I don't want or need anything. Even when I say "I'm good" he'll inevitably brings home something for me if he stops somewhere. He's amazing and I'm the luckiest person on the planet!

I bought my husband a gutair. For no reason. And a wet saw. He is just my everything. And an amazing father. And I try hard to remind him all the time. He spoils the s**t out of me and I love him for that. I was abused for twelve years before I met him. He also treats my daughter like his own.

I had an exceptionally rough morning getting to work because of late busses and weather so I missed my usual morning breakfast. Told her about it through text when she woke up and on my morning break Uber eats showed up with a coffee and breakfast wrap (plus a coffee for my buddy). I was blown away that it meant enough to her to do that.
