Fact is stranger than fiction. The real world is stranger than movies. And life is full of mystery. I believe it, but it sounds a bit cheesy when you say it out loud, doesn’t it? Well, fortunately for all of you mystery-loving, secret-adoring, hidden detail-worshipping Pandas out there, the phrase turns out to be very true. And we can’t wait to share this with you.
Sitting in a nook on Reddit, there’s a very special community called r/IRLEasterEggs. Created back in 2015 and now housing over 433k members, it’s dedicated to documenting, sharing, and celebrating all of the tiny (and not so tiny) Easter eggs hidden in real life that people happen to stumble upon. As it turns out, it’s not just movies, TV shows, and video games that have delightful secrets stashed away for only the most perceptive and the incredibly lucky to find. Human beings and real life are much more interesting than some of us give them credit for.
Check out some of the most brilliant IRL Easter eggs that people have lovingly crafted below, give the tastiest finds an upvote, and be sure to let us know which ones were your faves and why. Found any Easter eggs in real-life yourselves? We’d love to hear all about them, dear Pandas.

When You Being Rickrolled Silently
Thats Sooo Coool!

“You know in games or movies when you find an odd little secret that someone in production left unnoticed for the few in the audience that would look for it or happen to stumble upon it? This is the place to share those things you find in real life,” the r/IRLEasterEggs community explains its goal and what their online community is all about.
From the first moments that you visit the subreddit, it’s very obvious that the r/IRLEasterEggs community and its moderators have a wickedly awesome sense of humor and like to have fun. But I guess that comes with the territory—finding small secrets sprinkled all around the world makes you see the fun in life, no matter how hard the silver lining might be to find on some days.

The moderators are very clear and concise with the rules other members have to follow. They add tiny quirky comments to the rules, making it all really self-explanatory stuff, to be honest. From “don’t seek out conflict” (i.e. don’t be a jerk) to “I feel like I just saw this…” (i.e. try not to repost too often).
The fact that this subreddit exists also shows how many artists, craftsmen, and just your average Joe creatives adding magic to the hidden corners of the world there really are. Who needs Hogwarts when we’ve all got the potential to be wizards anyway?

Every Autumn In The Oregon Coast Range As The Leaves Change, This Image Emerges From A Pine Forest
I have a photo of this somewhere. A friend drives highway 18 daily. She said it really helped to see it this year. Yellow Larch trees, I think
Catlady6000 could you tell me where on Hwy 18 it is? I’d love to go see this!

There is one similar to this in Leitrim Ireland but instead of a smiley face there is a Celtic knot design. celiic-kno...e32a9c.jpg
IVE SEEN THIS i was on the way to tillamook and my sister pointed it out
Is that because of the species of trees planted there or is it because someone has poisoned them or something?
The green ones are all spruce (Edit: no, pine. reading is helpful...) - you need trees that shed their leaves/needles and change colour. So I'd wager it's larch, which turns a beautiful shade of gold-orange in autumn (and then goes bald)
Load More Replies...just spreading good vibes because I'm happy... CLAP ALONG IF U FEEL LIKE A ROOM WITHOUT A ROOF-
For a second I thought they were trying to claim it was a natural occurrence! 🤣
I hope whoever did this lived long enough for the trees to grow into this magnificent display.
Apparently it was planted in 2011. Grow up pretty fast.
Load More Replies...When I visited Ireland I saw a trinity knot in trees like this
Larch lose their needles every autumn and grow new ones, like leaf-trees do. So you just need to plant a certain area with only these inside a bigger area with spruce or fir and wait.
Load More Replies...This is near Spirit Mountain Casino on HWY 18, you can only see it in the fall and its best view is after you pass the Casino and are headed towards McMinnville.
Nazis did this once with a swastika, i forget why. I like this one a whole hell of a lot better.
This is certainly an improvement over the swastika that appears in a European forest every autumn....
Not to be a party poopers, but please tell me those trees aren't dead. That would just ruin it.
What??!! Na-ah!! That's not true is it? Quick someone google that shite and let me know..
Only in hippie Oregon....Watch out they might riot and destroy this too because one of the workers who planted them might have a different view than them and don't think like they do!
Right across from where the floating truck is in the tree. Just before you get to Grande Ronde.
Two different types of trees one evergreen and the face is deciduous. The face is hidden most of the year since both are green but when the deciduous turn in the fall it makes this super awesome face. If I remember correctly the people that planted the trees kept it a secret until it appeared the first year. How fun!!
Load More Replies...Obviously it's made from a different species of tree.
Load More Replies...40 years. It's on private lumber property, this was planted when the last batch of Doug Fir was harvested 10 years ago. I'm sure they'll probably do something similar when they do harvest this batch.

I love this company - Who Gives A Crap. They make recycled toilet paper and tissues and 50% of their profits go to building toilets and proper sanitation for communities that don't have them. Plus the rolls are wrapped in paper, not plastic. The rolls are bigger, last longer and look cute too! I strongly recommend them!

I checked the box of chocolate standing next to me. Not quite an easter egg, but on the side it says "There is nothing better than a friend, except a friend with chocolate..."
I think that I am forever going to be looking at the bottom of packages after this
I used to draw CAD construction plans for a retail chain... one store was in downtown NYC and the building had an enclosed truck dock. Rooms are always named/identified on the drawings and no one told me what to call that room, so I named it Docking Bay 94. It went out for permits like that. And years from now when they pull out the old set to make more changes, it'll likely still be called Docking Bay 94! :) For an extra kick, I included in the CAD plan on a layer that doesn't print, a tiny version of the Millennium Falcon! Double easter eggs!
nice! we use CAD for our robotics team and we put smiley faces everwhere haha :)

Load More Replies...I have a strange habit of pausing any show/movie/documentary when they show a news paper clipping. I like to read them. I forget the movie, but I was reading a (fake) clipping. For the most part, it was talking about the story, but about 2/3 of the way through it said something like, "Do you know how hard it is to write fake newspaper articles? Why are you even reading this? Get a life!" I laughed so fricken hard! I wish I could remember the movie! Now, I'll have to hunt it down.

If you ever get to the Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, go to the Naval Aviation display/room/area. There's a 12-15 foot model of the nuclear-powered USS Enterprise aircraft carrier outside of it. If you look INSIDE the ship through the open elevator areas, you can see two, to-scale models of Porsche automobiles among all of the aircraft. UPDATE: Never mind- it isn't displayed anymore. Now for the next five years of my life, every box I get will be opened backwards and every bags bottom will be checked. Thank you so much.

I built my employee number at Walmart into a functional UPC code, making myself a product that could be purchased at the store for $4.20. I don't know if they ever purge those, so I may exist as stock over a decade later lol
When I created scenery for the local ballet school I always included a mouse somewhere on the set. Someone found it one evening and for years the kids were hunting the sneaky little mouse.
