Might be unpopular but I think it's kind of cool to have all this human-made debris at what is basically the hardest place (above ground) on earth to reach by humans. It's like a sign of our collective will-power.

Have you seen the post the showed the various climbers that didn't make it back? it's chilling to see, but then i realized that it makes sense that the bodies would be left where they died. It's a real reminder to the dangers of these climbing expeditions.

Technically they are both. It's impossible to safely recover and transport them out, due to the altitude and inaccessible terrain.

There is already a committee that does that. The problem is that flying helicopters to even just the "base" is almost impossible with the weather conditions and the high altitude affects the helicopters performance i.e. the fuel/oxygen ratio. Also to take the bodies down is also very difficult since it exhausts the people.

Helicopters can't operate at that altitude, unfortunately. All reputable outfitters of Everest adventures now have requirements to bring down their trash and make an effort to bring down old trash as well. Bodies can't be recovered at that altitude, again, due to the exertion levels. You can barely get yourself off the mountain at that point- bringing down bodies is almost impossible.

Helicopters can't fly at this altitude. If they could, everyone would just get a ride up to the top and dropped off.

Very dangerous weather up there: wind , low temperatures , fog, snow, hail and so on. In Unpredictable gusts , low air pressure. Not a good place for helicopters.

Yes...over 290 people have died trying to climb Everest. There is even a "Death Zone" The bodies are left because it is too dangerous to try to bring them down. One of the bodies is actually a known landmark on the Mountain, an unknown climber called "Green Boots". Bodies stay pretty well preserved due to the temp. Google it.

whatever. I highly doubt they are prayer flags of the locals. More likely 'prayer' flags brought by tourist climbers and there is a saying when diving and in nature to leave s**t as you find it. Take only memories and pictures. There is no reason to leave behind s**t as proof you were there or climbed it, it doesn't matter if they are your stupid prayer flags or not.

People die of altitude sickness, falls, or freeze to death & it is too dangerous to bring them down, so they are left there.

What do you mean how? It's dangerous, people die. You don't endanger other lives by undertaking more danger in order to haul down a corpse. Not to mention solo climbers frequently die, knowing who and where thru area is beyond difficult.

People that didn't make it. Over 250 bodies remain above 26,000 feet. If you have problems and can't continue up or down the mountain you will die. It is not physically possible to help another person. The grim reality is, many people have said goodbye to friends and left them behind to die. If you try to help, you will also die.

People die on the climb and it's too difficult for crews to get them back down the mountain so they are left there. Frozen on the mountain side.

Not everyone makes it to the top. The first person to die while climbing Everest is still there. There is a section of the climb called 'The Rainbow Road" which is named for all of the colorful jackets of the bodies that are there. While I have never been, and will never go there is an excellent documentary about the climbers of Everest.
