We have all heard it a million times: beggars can’t be choosers. Whether your mother slipped in the phrase when offering you a cookie (but not the type of cookie you wanted!) or you had to use it when dealing with a demanding houseguest who had taken advantage of your hospitality, the saying rings a lot of truth and bears repeating. Yet somehow, not everyone learned the importance of this adage, and some entitled individuals are out there right now wreaking havoc in Instagram DMs, on Facebook marketplace and other places online demanding free art, discounted services and other outlandish requests.

Apparently, beggars can be choosers, they will just be ridiculed for it online. We've gone through the Choosing Beggars subreddit to gather some of the most infuriating posts to share with you all down below, so be sure to upvote the pics that make you want to call up these people’s parents and tell them that they need a reminder that “beggars can’t be choosers”. Keep reading to also find interviews with artists Jill Arwen Posadas and Carrie Brummer to hear their thoughts on people requesting work for free, and then if you’re looking for even more of these frustrating posts after finishing this list, be sure to check out Bored Panda’s last publication featuring the same subreddit right here.

That's just pathetic.... and so sad that this is what some people are evolving into nowadays.... it makes me feel sorry for my children's future. I guess all I can do is raise them up with the best morals and attitudes towards others that I possibly can and pray that it is enough to counter any crappy outside influences.... 😥

The Choosing Beggars subreddit features a variety of different situations, from people actually begging for money or services to individuals demanding that they receive special treatment from artists who make a living selling their creations. (No, exposure and networking do not pay the bills.) And some of these posts are astonishing. The sheer level of entitlement some people exhibit is ridiculous, but sadly, it is not uncommon. This subreddit has over 2 million members and receives new posts almost constantly.

The page is flooded with potential landlords offering ridiculous accommodation and people asking photographers to shoot events for free because “there will be a lot of future clients there”. But the moderators do clarify who counts as a “choosy beggar” to keep the group from getting out of control. For example, the beggar must be a “person seeking goods or services at a reduced cost, for free, or for a laughably lopsided trade or a person using social media, dating apps, or otherwise to seek out a specific type of relationship”.

I think this is happening more and more often. I had a kid around 14 or so come up to me when I was buying petrol and ask if I could get him something to eat. I wouldn’t have minded but he starts rattling off several things that he wants and then an energy drink as well (as if petrol isn’t expensive enough!). I told the staff and they said he did it all the time and they always had to chase him off.

I have encountered rich kids playing the part of a homeless person and panhandling for kicks. Easy to spot, if you all can afford $300 boots you don't need an handout. At the other end I remember giving a guy some money and later seeing him sitting on the sidewalk eating ecxactly what he said he needed the money for.

Once was hitchhiking and got picked by panhandlers, I was so mad. Cause here I am dirt poor having to walk long long miles to get diapers and scrape by cause my dad's car didn't work at the time and they would move town to town get like 400 dollars they said. It mad me so mad I wanted to cry.

I mostly offer to buy groceries instead of money. Some of them disappear til I'm back, some wait. Once one went with me and was very humble with choosing. I had to encourage him. I think this is good way to select people who really needs to eat and not drugs.

I'm happy to buy people groceries if they ask me for help. One guy just wanted hot dogs and a grapefruit - hey why not? :) He was obviously homeless and I didn't mind. Another women was with her 2 kids and they were obviously in need. She said she'd take anything but was thrilled when I came back with several bags of food for them. A few extra bucks doesn't really make a difference to me (not anymore, but I've been there), but for them it kept her kids from going hungry. I almost never give money but I'm always open to helping someone eat.

Unfortunately a few negative experiences can turn people off with trying to help. Several years ago my mother rolled down her window when a man approached her car. She was reaching out to give him a few dollars (I don't know how much it was) when he grabbed her hand and tried to get her rings off her fingers. Luckily my stepfather was with her and was able to force him to release her. My stepfather was a deputy and always carried a handgun (still does). That guy was very lucky not to have gotten shot.

I'm sure this happens in other places, too, but we get people who stand outside grocery stores near the red lights with signs reading they "need money please give", but they don't even try to hide that they're using an iphone and have really expensive sneakers on. I was like, 'why would anyone do this?' and it turns out these 'beggars' can make like 300 dollars a day or more in certain locations, and some of them know each other and pool their 'donations' to pay for illegal things. Or it's just a job to them. They dress homeless and then go home to the house they paid for with your donations. If you want to donate to charity, do it through legitimate sources. Don't give money to these fakers. The fact is, people who are truly in need often don't ask for help. Give it to a single mother or father who you know is struggling. Donate to a local soup kitchen or shelter. Many of these beggars use the money for drugs and alcohol-- that's why they're angry; they haven't gotten their fix.

Such incidents happen. Heard a guy in Mumbai has 3 apartments mainly dressing up as a professional begger daily, painting dirt on his face to look downtrodden and waiting at strategic points for alms. Evening dressing back to clean clothes and catching local train to return home.

On a positive note - my brother in law recently encountered a man who had apparently opened a soda while shopping and put it on the counter to buy with his groceries. He ended up not having enough money on his assistance card to pay. The store was trying to decide what to do and told him to just bring money back. My brother in law watched the man return later with a little cash to pay his bill, hearing him comment that it was his last money until his next payment. My brother in law stopped the man and praised his honesty and integrity and handed him a $20. The man was overjoyed and thanked him profusely!!! The man said “Man this day is just the best day! Everyone is being so nice to me. “ makes my heart melt. These are the people I want to help!

When it comes to how “choosy” people must be to qualify for a post on the page, the rules state that they must “have unreasonable standards or have a comical sense of entitlement”. I wish that it was not so easy to find people like that, but clearly, the page proves that there are many encounters with choosy beggars every day. When it comes to who does not qualify to be roasted on the page, the moderators have set some more ground rules.

“Unattractive people seeking a normal relationship and having reasonable standards are not a good fit for this sub,” the rules state. “Ugly people are allowed to want a partner with a job, or no kids, or anything else we would consider reasonable for the beautiful people.” The page is not about bullying, so it’s great that there are guidelines. No one will be shamed for how they look; this is an equal opportunity page where anyone who displays gross entitlement has opened themselves up to criticism.

We should haggle with the doctor. When you go to the doctor, here's what you're paying for: the doctor's salary, the office cost, the materials/tests used (and their profit), the billing department, the administration, corporate profit. Then you have the insurance company's billing department, their administration and their profits. Seems to me we could cut out at least 60% of that.

The rules also clarify that “a person asking for help with life's necessities out of desperation is not a choosingbeggar”. “The person begging must be at least in the gradient of being an entitled jerk, this sub is not a place to mock poverty,” the moderators explain. They provide the example of someone running out of money and asking for gas through a Facebook status so they can make it to work. “They got the beggar part down, but this sub is not /r/beggars so that post wouldn't fit. If that same person turns down someone offering to give them a ride to work because they don't want to be seen in a PT Cruiser, then that post would fit.”

They also explain that, “A parent asking for handouts because their kids want an Xbox for Christmas and the only way that could happen is if someone donates one, that isn't a choosingbeggar.” If a person is begging without a sense of entitlement, they don’t deserve to be shamed on the page. “If that person is offered a Nintendo and they scoff at the suggestion, then that would be a good post,” the rules note.

Ugh I'm so tired of these influencer asks. The only 'influencer' I would ever even consider doing this for is a Kardashian, because it's been proven that people they promote generally get a lot of business from the promo. You're getting worldwide advertising. But other than that...never. And I don't even get how they have the audacity to ask the way they do...as if you should be honored to do it for free.

One of the most common issues brought up on the Choosing Beggars subreddit is the fact that people feel entitled to free art. To address this topic, we reached out to artists Carrie Brummer and Jill Arwen Posadas to hear what it's really like to deal with these "choosy beggars". First, we asked both artists how often they are reached out to about working for free. "On average I would say 2-3 times per year I receive serious requests to either give away my art or do art teaching for free," Carrie told Bored Panda.

"I haven't been asked lately, but I think being asked once is once too often," Jill replied. "I used to get asked a fair bit when I was just starting out. Back when I was younger I thought it was worth it 'for the exposure' and the 'experience points' if I got a good look at who was asking and what 'actual exposure' and experience I would be getting. But these days it would take far more than just 'exposure' (like maybe if it was for charity?) for me to do it."

On second thought, though, Jill remembered that she had been reached out to more recently. "I had been asked when the pandemic was in the thick of things for free art a fair bit. It was for the pandemic, so you'd have to be pretty hardhearted, they must've thought, if you'd said no. But hey, we had to eat during the pandemic, too." Jill admitted that she did create the free art a couple of times, but said she would be lying if she said she had no hard feelings about it.

I was never comfortable asking for a Military discount. It just never felt right to me. Same thing for people wanting to pay for your meal, etc. On the way back to Iraq from leave, my buddy and I ordered food at an airport restaurant, and someone anonymously paid for our meals. However, the cashier pointed him out. So when we were done eating, we walked over to his table and thanked him. In front of his boss... who looked surprised, and very impressed with him! Felt good to pay him back. 😁

If I was lucky, she'd just complain, but I'd often be treated to the lecture about how being a military wife is tHe HaRdEsT jOB iN tHe WoRLd. I'd argue that having to serve entitled a*****e customers like military wives was harder. Sweetie, you may get 10% off your coffee on base, but the rest of the businesses here are not obligated to treat you all special because you f**k a serviceman.

It's a way for companies to draw in more business by giving vets a (usually) insignificant discount. I'm a vet and the only place i ever use it is at Lowes. Otherwise, it's not worth it.

We also asked Carrie why she thinks people feel entitled to free art. "Our society and culture sets a tone that says art is barely worth our time, let alone worth investing in," she explained. "Not only can this set us up to expect to pay 'less' for art, it sometimes discourages artists from setting fair prices for their work. In general, people feel more permission to spend money on a dozen streaming services than support an artist."

In terms of how she likes to deal with these individuals, Carrie told Bored Panda, "I've established clear boundaries about what feels good to me to give away or participate in at a discounted rate and what doesn't. If it doesn't meet the criteria it's a no. For whoever needs this reminder: no is a full sentence! I find it a waste of time to offer lengthy explanations to people who won't ever truly invest in my work. I'd rather be making more art."

I’ve got this mental image of the person phoning everyone they’d ever brought something from/been gifted an item by and telling them to get to the house to move an item. Bonus points for ringing Microsoft and demanding they move the curtains because ‘I brought windows from you’ :p

If I owned a furniture store, you couldn't pay me enough to move something from a customer's home. Who knows what parasite infestation they may have. It would be terrible to infest your furniture store with bedbugs by doing that kind of favor. I'm good at organizing and a friend with a moving company referred one of his customers to me for help. Her stuff looked nice. Her house was nice. Then when we started, she had tons of bedbugs infesting everything. She knowingly moved them to a new place. I refused to work until it was dealt with. Which never happened. I can't imagine knowingly inviting movers and organizers into a home full of bedbugs. Gross.

We had bought a large bed from a local furniture store. A few years later we needed it moved to another room. The owner of the furniture sent two men out to do it and refused to take any money. (The movers got very large tips for their ten minutes of work.) A furniture store has employees skilled in moving furniture, so the request is not irrelevant. They certainly have no obligation to outsource those workers, but there's nothing inappropriate about asking politely whether the service is available if you offer to pay. I suspect that these people don't know how to ask politely.

We also asked Jill why she thinks people feel entitled to free art. "They don't think it's as 'important' as being a doctor, lawyer or so on," she said. "They think it's something people 'just do for fun'. Maybe it's plain ignorance, and you can't blame somebody for something they don't know, I guess. Unless it's someone who thinks they're entitled to free anything and not just art."

And her response to these entitled individuals? "Be polite and say no thank you. And then to not engage further. I don't think it's worth your time, energy or patience to get into that conversation with people like this."

I used to do photography as a side hustle and I had someone hit me up like this for a highschool graduation shoot. I told her my price and she gave me the whole "exposure" line and wanted me to do it for free. I gave in and told her I'd do it. She got 3 hours on location and then I spent a few hours retouching everything up to get them to look just right. Then I sent them to her. The ones I sent looked pretty much like the photos in this post. She called me all bent out of shape because I blurred her face out of the shots. When she asked why I did that, I told her that that was the free exposure. If she wanted the full exposure, it was gonna cost her $250. In the end, I got my $ but she didn't tip at all. I wonder why.

The thing that drives me the most crazy is that a lot of the time, the influencer is not poor or can't afford it and is asking for help to pay for it. They usually can afford it just fine. It's always these rich family youtubers or something. They're truly just selfish and have an overblown sense of their fame. As if we should just be so grateful we were even asked by them.

Lastly, Carrie added how she has found a healthy way to handle these situations. "I personally felt more frustration and resentment towards these 'choosy beggars' before I sat down and truly asked myself when or where I'd be comfortable working at a discounted or free rate. Reflecting on what works for me, which won't be the same answer for everyone, has really helped me shift away from resentment and move closer to amused ambivalence."

Jill left us with some words of wisdom as well, "Maybe someday, everywhere, art as a profession would stand on equal footing with other professions. And I do mean all forms of art, including music, literature and so on. But I get this feeling that even if it did, there will always be people who think they can just ask for free stuff whether it's art or not. Let's just feel sorry for them, I guess, while at the same time protecting ourselves and our livelihoods. That's probably more positive than hating on them for being the unfeeling pernicious underhanded unscrupulous freeloaders they are," she added with a laugh.

Influencers have a really bad reaction to the word 'no.' While I don't understand asking for free things, I at least understand why they're trying to get it for free. But if someone says no, just say okay and move on. But there's this really childish and spoiled name-calling that happens, especially when it's for the 'child's present'- like how dare you not give my kid what they want! It's so bizarre. It's like a child having a tantrum because they didn't get a candy bar.

Whether a choosy beggar wants a painter, a graphic designer, or a photographer to create something for them, they are somehow not shy at all about asking for what they want while knowing they can’t offer any money. Influencers slide into the DMs of artists and restaurants requesting free pieces and meals assuming that the “exposure will be worth it”, meanwhile the artists and chefs just want to pay rent and buy groceries without worrying about taking on extra jobs. One clever artist found his own way to put choosy beggars on blast and created a whole Twitter account for it. The account is called For Exposure and was started by South Korea-based cartoonist Ryan Estrada in 2013. In fact, we even have a Bored Panda article featuring some of their best posts right here.

The For Exposure account invites followers and fellow artists to share the most outlandish responses they have received from potential clients after informing them of their rates. “Surprised by your invoice,” reads one tweet. “I put a lot of smileys in my emails, so I thought we’d become friends and you wouldn’t charge.” Another boldly states, “If we had money for this, we’d be going after real artists… who paint on real canvases. Not the digital fake stuff.” Unfortunately, a lot of artists are willing to take on free labor at the beginning of their careers, but that does not mean they should. “I was very confused as a young artist,” Estrada told the BBC. “I had all of these people telling me that they were just small companies, so they couldn't afford to pay me, but could offer me exposure so that big companies would want to hire me.”

Genuine question as I don't really understand this whole "influencer" thing; how many followers does someone need to have to be regarded as a real influencer (if there is such a thing). 36,000 seems like a low number, I'd have thought it would need to be in the low millions at least?

"I realized that I had to be my own advocate for my work, and figure out a way to make a living,” Estrada went on to say. And his account has clearly hit home with a lot of other creatives, as it now has over 240k followers. He wants to make it clear to those who don’t understand what being an artist is like that no matter how passionate an artist is, they are still putting in extremely hard work. Not to mention the high cost of materials that many forms of art require. “People think that art is just a fun hobby,” Estrada says. “But it's the difference between enjoying baking brownies on the weekend and working as a chef in a restaurant. That person won't be able to afford their own food if all their time goes into cooking for strangers. Many businesses just don't see that.”

I'm not at all defending this person. Cause they are clearly delusional.... and should not just expect people to give her handouts because she is a single mother... I am a single mom of 3 myself and have to work for everything my kids and I have and wouldn't expect it any other way. However I don't think it's fair to say a pregnant single parent should stop "popping them out" when we don't know the circumstances. Their partner may have walked out on them or passed away after she became pregnant. We can't really assume that it's someone who just runs around town getting knocked up over and over again without any thought of birth control. Again not saying that this isn't an outrageous ask she is making. Just saying that making a blanket statement of all pregnant single mothers not being responsible it a bit harsh.

Now, you might be wondering how it is even possible for so many entitled people to exist and to demand whatever they want for little to no cost. Don’t these people understand how the world works? Well, apparently, they might just find rules unfair. According to a series of studies published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, it is very difficult to get entitled individuals to follow rules because they just don’t think they should apply to them. Emily Zitek of Cornell University and Alexander Jordan of Harvard Medical School conducted a series of studies to understand why entitled people just won’t follow rules, but nothing seemed to motivate them.

“We thought that everyone would follow instructions when we told people that they would definitely get punished for not doing so, but entitled individuals still were less likely to follow instructions than less entitled individuals,” said Zitek. Finally, Zitek and Jordan reached a conclusion that, “Entitled people do not follow instructions because they would rather take a loss themselves than agree to something unfair.” Zitek explained that anyone in charge of entitled individuals, like managers or educators, needs to navigate the challenge of making rules seem “fair” to them if there is any chance of the guidelines being adhered to.

Absolutely disgraceful rate of pay. They expect you to work for this pittance and still eat? Kids get paid more for doing a paper round, babysitting, running a lemonade stand. And NO, your customers should not be expected to make that up so they can pay their rent. Pay servers a decent wage you cheapskates! This is "supposedly" the best country in the world? Dream on Americans. Treating honest workers like slaves...$2.13 an hour is NOTHING! Make it law that minimum wage applies to EVERY job and not just some. The server bringing food to the table to make money to feed her kids should not be deemed less worthy of a living wage than the student flipping burgers for the summer. Jesus Christ this makes me so bloody mad!

Yes, most of us in the States hate this system, as well. I'd tip regardless but we need to pay servers a f*****g living wage, at minimum. Tips should reward good service not subsidize ownership's labor costs.

not saying this justifies the pay at all but to have the hourly rate set that low they have to guarantee that the employee will make federal minimum wage in tips and if they don’t they are responsible for paying the money to make it federal minimum wage

minimum wage for waiters is $2.13/hour, so long as tips bring that up to the regular minimum wage. It's terrible, after that's why we're stuck paying tips, because otherwise they starve!

My skanky future SIL has 4 kids with all different dads so all different last names. This is common anymore. Also, I don't know specifics but can't you claim anyone you are providing for on your taxes? Like I know they wanted my hubby and I to claim my MIL and SIL because they are both disabled and we were their primary care givers. Idk if this is the norm or we just had a terrible tax guy who didn't know his stuff lol.

So what is the best way to deal with an entitled individual? According to Emily Zitek, “It is hard to change someone’s personality, and research indicates that it is particularly difficult to make someone feel or act less entitled. But we can do things to avoid reinforcing someone’s sense of entitlement. For example, when entitled people make unwarranted demands, it might be better not to give in, because doing so may make them even more certain that their entitlement is justified. And when saying ‘no’ to entitled people, it may help to explain why your refusal is fair, because perceptions of unfairness are linked to even more entitled behavior in the future.”

I think the best thing for this baby would be to be given up for adoption so it could (hopefully) have a responsible parent. I hope adoption agencies screen out antivaxers and anti science applicants. I know when my niece and her husband adopted a baby boy they were given a boatload of instructions and restrictions. If they didn't follow them they could lose the baby... the agency could take it back.

I’d like to say something as a human who relied on food pantries for many years: sometimes it can be degrading and y’all are super judgy. I know every food pantry/food bank is set up differently. But they all have a system set up usually based on points and you get certain number of points based on family size and if you have babies. The people I’ve interacted with have always been very helpful and non judgmental. However, sometimes you just get sick of getting what feels like people’s left overs. It’s donated food so it’s not always in the best condition. Often things are very close to expiration dates. Packaging is almost always damaged, which can affect the food inside. Sometimes it makes you feel like a second class citizen. The first time I was able to get non bruised produce at an actual grocery store I was very close to tears. If you’ve never had to use a food pantry/bank then you need to say a great big thank you to life!

Indeed .when I was younger my family was heavily dependent on ebt and the food bank. My father worked graveyard and my mother worked at a call center . Thankfully we no longer need the help but other people still do.

Here in Austria we have an App called "TooGoodToGo". Depending on the shop you can get a lot of food for around 4€ (like 2-3 kg fruit and veggies, or a whole bag of stuff from a bakery, a mixed box with something from every department of the store). It might be a little bruised or the packaging is damaged - or it's close to the best before date. It's for everyone to use and you get what you get. I use it regularly, if there is stuff in it I don't like there is always someone willing to trade (family, neighbors, colleagues). There are food banks too, but you have to qualify. The app is just something to reduce waste and save money.

Yes, but I’m assuming that if you can’t afford groceries, you can’t afford a house or an apartment with a lawn to garden. If you’re fortunate enough to have a community garden nearby, those slots often fill up quickly.

Our food bank locally does an AMAZING job of giving totally fresh food. They get huge grants from wholesalers so people getting food bank food are getting stuff that's fresh and really good. Not just expired cans donated. :\

I volunteer at a food bank, and they provide fresh fruits and vegetables constantly. I'm not sure about meat, but there is always beans, lentils, rice, etc. for protein sources. I'm going to say OP never even looked at a food bank.

I don’t think this is horrible. I don’t know who they’re messaging but it’s true that cheap food can be really unhealthy and we Don’t know this person’s back story (maybe pre-diabetic, anaemic, etc). Asking for help isn’t a crime, maybe this was just worded in not the best way.

Went to a wedding that stated that they only want cash for a gift, just cash, and the "Wishing Well" will be at the directly at the entrance to the reception. Was made to be a bridesmaid, only because they had added an extra groomsmen. Us guests ended up paying for all their honeymoon spending money, plus a new back fence. I got stuck having to save the daytime part of the hens night, as the maid of honour f****d it up that badly that my family spent the whole day hosting a poolside, handmade woodfired pizza, and champagne, lunch. My sister got guilt tripped into doing the photography for only $400 (about 15 hours on the day, + at least that editing), instead of the thousands she usually charges as a professional. I house & pet sat for the couple of weeks of their honeymoon. Added bonus of having to fill in for one of them as full-time temporary store manager over the same period. Area manager hated me, also knew that I was the only capable one, out of 50+ employees. They chose my exes side of the break-up...

This one can be different from influencers. It can easily be photo model posting to group for people looking for TFP. Lots of beggining photographers are looking for first wedding shooting for free (especially because there is considerable risk for the client they’ll not like the photos, or for photographer to miss a important moment and shooting it again is impossible, so you might want to try it for free with people who don’t care too much).

This does not belong to this list. TFP is common practice, especially for new photographers and its also common that both sides does it for free (for example when you’re shooting your first ever wedding). They’re not asking for specific professional photographer, just asking if someone is willing to do it for free, which is completely possible and completely ok. I know few photographers who shot their first wedding for free, to people who did not care so much about the quality of the result, so they have something to show to other potential clients as a reference.

I've done that and it worked perfectly. Although it was fencing that had already been taken down - albeit a bit haphazardly and there were still nails in the boards. A non-profit ended up taking it for free and it was a good deal for both of us.

This is very culture dependent. In my area, it's normal for people to help friends and colleagues move house if it isn't too far. The 'going rate' for payment is providing food, drinks, and the understanding that you will make yourself available when they are moving (or need help with something).

Friends who had previously helped me move were looking for help. I was 7 months pregnant at the time. I wasn't able to move the boxes, so I helped in a different way, by making lunch for our friends and the helpers. My husband was able to help physically.

It depends how good of a friend the coworker is. I'd happily help ( and have done in the past) friends and family move home and expect no money at all but I wouldn't just do it for a random coworker. There would need to be some kind of friends relationship at least lol

If the man is a close friend, he will help you move, or swap vehicles with you for the weekend so you can borrow his truck. You give him pizza and beer as a thankyou. If he is not your friend, you are asking to hire him and his truck, and he gets whatever cash price he chooses to set. If you are unsure whether he is a close friend, ask your self this question: "Have I ever loaned him my vehicle and performed manual labour for free on my weekend to help him move house?"

Some people value their time differently. He may not consider you a close enough friend to want to do it for free. Just because he has a truck doesn't mean he has to help everyone move for pay in pizza and beer.

This is why I don't use food delivery services. Good novelty during the pandemic shut downs but I don't like paying double what my food costs for delivery fees and tips. It sucks for all the hard workers depending on it. I tip well when I'm in a situation that calls for it but I seriously won't contribute to the next form of "tipping culture" by using these services.

I kinda think that there should be a reasonable set distance-related delivery fee to make pricing transparent for both delivery person and customer. It's not fair to stiff the driver, but it's also not affordable for some potential customers to give a $20 tip on every $22.50 purchase. Price delivery fairly upfront, and let customers choose not to order instead of cheating a delivery person.

You are not wrong. 20% is a very generous tip. If it's not profitable for them then they shouldn't have accepted the order.

Kind of have to agree with the driver here. If you order food from a shop 9 miles away you can imagine its a lot of work for the guy to bring it. Then tipping so little is super cheap. Even if you only ordered around 22.50.

    BlackestDawn

Hard disagree. Delivery compensation (separate issue from delivery fee) should be based on actual distance, not a set price, which makes it an issue of corporate greed. Customers should also not be expected to effectively pay part of a persons salary through tips. The whole tipping culture in the USA needs to be changed so that tips are at most an actual extra and not an integral part of someones salary.

Maybe they should take it apart beforehand but I can imagine that a buyer helps with that considering it is a very solid thing. $200 fot that amount of wood is kinda cheap.

$50-$75 may cover the cut but even that is pushing it.

I know coloring and styling etc costs a bit, but some women's haircuts are really overpriced. $75 for a trim on long hair (no layers, no styling, etc) is just ridiculous. Especially when guys cuts are $35.

"Free" is code for "I don't want to deal with transporting this, which is why I'm not selling it, hauling it to a recycling centre, or donating it." It means "I am advertising a job of removing one McGuffin from my territory in a legal and pro-social manner. Make this McGuffin your problem, not mine, and I will pay you the generous sum of one McGuffin." If you don't want to do the job, why would you expect to receive the pay?

Hahaha this reminds me, my new apartment neighbours have to wait a week for their WiFi to be installed and they were sad they couldnt watch Netflix, so I texted them my WiFi username and password to use for the week, I don’t mind sharing. JUST TRYING TO BE KIND AND NEIGHBOURLY 🙃 the wife texted me back asking if they needed to pay me anything (I would have said no!) but I accidentally didn’t see her text message since I was working - 2 hours later she texts “OK FINE NEVERMIND WE DONT EVEN WANT TO USE YOUR WIFI I GUESS WE’RE JUST A BOTHER” 😂😂 I didn’t even know what to say so I didn’t reply.

Honestly I would take it. I would grab my friends a few axes and a few beers and we would just have some fun. I remember how fun it was when we tore down our old cabin on our farm when I was little.

TBH, they should advertise it as "Want to destroy a house? Have you always wanted to do demo? Do you want to rent a tank or bulldozer, and drive it through a building? Do you and your mates like to smash through walls with sledgehammers? Is this the youtube opportunity of your dreams? You may tear down, blow up, or burn to the ground this condemned house, as long as you haul off and dispose of the remains." I can imagine that there are youtubers out there who might be interested. There are places you can pay to drive a bulldozer or a tank and destroy stuff, so maybe someone wants to rent one and destroy a whole house?

That would be AWESOME. They'd get fifteen offers in the first twenty four hours! Or why not sell it to a film crew making a movie in which a house explodes/falls over/burns down?

If it was built from actual lumber, like old "barnwood", it would be worth tearing down and refurbishing the wood into amazing furniture/artwork. But not this plywood c**p.

This one isn't bad at all. Common. It's when they ask for money that is the problem. Do the work and you get free stuff. Like saying, pick the apples and you can have them for free. Perfectly fine

This isn’t a choosing beggar. This is someone saying that she should give to charity rather than wantonly spend. He doesn’t have the right to say what she spends her money on, but he isn’t asking her to give it to him.

on top of that, she actually has 12 kids, 5 are adopted and 2 she is fostering, it’s pretty messed up for him to try to dictate her spending

FYI before saying that it’s bad that she didn’t donate that money to charity, she actually has 12 kids and 5 of her kids are adopted, 2 she is currently fostering. a lot of her adopted kids have had really hard lives and if she wants to pay 1k to give them a good memory, good on her.

I actually watch her YouTube channel called the doughertydozen! She’s a really good mom to her kids with some being adopted and some not. She tends to their needs as some of them have differing needs based on previous homes etc.

I don't get this. £1k for 10 kids is £100 per kid. This is not that much and it is her money to do whatever she pleases with them.
