It's a well-known stereotype that guys care less about the details when it comes to aesthetics; we are kind of chill about things like lighting, mood, and colors, just as long as the desired message gets across. This post reinforces that cliché and then some; it's girlfriend's pics of their beloved Vs. boyfriend's awkward photos.
You can see the method in the girlfriend pics: nice lighting, a good angle to make you look photogenic, and the timing of pose that suggests that she took a few photos at the same time and chose the one you are looking good in. On the other hand, there are the boyfriends. The timing suggests they took a few and chose the worst one, or simply waited until they could capture her at her most hilariously awkward facial expressions. Because, you know, it's funny!
Perhaps it's just a matter of goals. Maybe girlfriends want to photograph their guys at their smoldering best, capturing not just their looks but their unique personalities too, because that's what she would want. Boyfriends might prefer funny photos of a goofy shared memory, who cares about your 'good side?'
Either way, the list makes for some hilarious comparisons, so you know the drill: Scroll on down and check the funny faces and the hilarious 'caught in the act' poses out for yourself!

Boyfriends win. The pics of the guys are when they're looking close to the girls' ideal. The pics of the girls are of why the guys fell in love with them.
Why is she sitting like she's been bound and tied with hands behind her back?
Maybe he’s nearsighted and doesn’t wear his glasses, so this looked normal to him. Or maybe not.
If the pic of the boyfriend is “candid” then I’m the Queen of England. Bend the knee!
The boyfriend was just trying to get the hot guy in the background into the pic... lol
OMG, my husband is totally the same. He says he loves to take photos but he never wears his friggin glasses and he has a lazy eye so his depth perception is all off. His pictures of me are all "Study #47 of Headless Blob." I'm like, "Babe, why don't you wear your glasses and have the friggin surgery your doctor had been recommending you have for years?" (Oh and take a class on lighting and composition but I don't say that part out loud ).
It's a gay couple dude. A man dating a man. If you have a problem, please put your comment in the trash, because frankly we don't care.
Load More Replies...I’m sorry to say it, but her feet are like boats.
Load More Replies...It would be a good picture of her except that he makes her look like a modern day Bigfoot. Sheesh...guys just don't even notice.
Is it his fault that you only have one size 15 foot and one arm is six inches shorter?
Your description is like that of a polio survivor.
Load More Replies...Okay but the one with her covering her mouth is actually kinda cute
OOOOOOHHHH. I thought that it meant that when she gets mad she puts down her food and has no interest in it anymore, so I can get it and eat it. Shows you where my mind is.
Load More Replies...I wonder if these boyfriends have caught onto the trend and are doing this on purpose.
AGH MY INNER CONTROL FREAK HE ISNT HOLDING THE FORK AND KNIFE RIGHT (Yes I know, I'm a horror to live with)
On the left: insufferable, artificial, manufactured Instagram composition. On the right: nice picture of a genuine moment. The chick is the one taking bad pictures.
I think this one of the gf is much more interesting. I like the light just above and behind the head and there is more of a story to it. Has fairly sharp detail. Good job. Good shot.
Well Nobody can eat sushi prettily. You're supposed to shove it all in your mouth at once apparently
No, it's in her mouth. Grip should be corrected after insertion of food
Load More Replies...I can't help but wonder if the boyfriend took this to show her how she eats...face nearly touching the table, frankly, as an animal does. He knew this was a completely unflattering pose. This is very cringy all around.
I wish I looked like this good in my good photos :D
Load More Replies...This is probably like the 10th pic he took. Instagram has ruined spontaneity.
Really like the shot on the left. I don't normally like when shots are off kilter but this one works for me. Love the little lens flare. It tells a story, like all good shots. Way to go. I been playing around with photography for 25+ years and I have only taken one shot that I felt was really awesome. That's kinda depressing but I already know I am way to critical on my own stuff. You've got a possible future in this! Nurture it.
You are probably way better than you think, but it is better to be your harshest critic than an arrogant k**b.
Load More Replies...Am I the only one wondering why a visitors is being scanned with a metal detector before entering the Scientific games?
i can hear this picture.. her: let's take a picture of us taking a picture of each other
exactly to quote another user I wish I looked that good in my bad pics
Load More Replies...Actually I like the photo of her way more. The one she took of her bf is nice, but dull in comparison. She looks like she's getting really involved in talking about something she's really passionate about and she looks amazing x
this is actually a good picture. he snapped a good moment so the picture transports soul.
Well, as if it needed to be said... I think we know his focal point.
You're right. I guess I have more pictures of my bum than I have of my face. Guess I'm ugly, bwahahaha.
Load More Replies...That second one is very obviously an accidental camera button press. Actually the first one kinda looks like that too.
Hmmm, I’m wondering what’s she’s hiding that she has to hide “his” masterpiece out of view?
that's why it could be just a photo fail, she was trynna adjust her fork
Load More Replies...She looks like Fran in that episode of Black Books where she goes to dinner with that guy and once she finds out he's gay she says screw it and stats stuffing her face.
Starts, the edit is not working in Firefox, anyone know why?
Load More Replies...It must be a guy thing to wait until they are stuffing their faces to snap the pict because the majority of these are that way. Maybe they are trying to be cute / funny?
Probably because of her smile, she has a beautiful smile.
Load More Replies...You don't recognize the giant aliens in the field. People think they're metal electrical conduits, but they've getting ready to take over.
Load More Replies...Again, I love the shot of gf. I like the subject in focus and all else a bit blurred. Shutter could have been open a tad longer or iso jacked up a tad but still... damn fine shot. Great work!
The pic is way too dark though, compared to the shot of the guy and I'm assuming they were taken at the same time
Load More Replies...What's wrong with this one? Just bad lighting not like she's stuffing her face.
LOL. I love that! You are on a date and are nervous. I know let's whip out the old smartphone and pose the poor subject for a shot! I'm not making fun of you, I really love it! Way to have fun and loosen up. Great job. I also love that you had to retake his photo but didn't demand a re-take for yourself? He didn't demand to re-take his shot of you? Oh man! Still, great attitude! Great job!
Probably nit picking that her hand is blurry. Honestly, this one looks fine to me.
Load More Replies...The way he puts “Baby, and a ♥️ “ in the upper corner, makes this a GREAT photo imho.
Great story! Typical guy! She's getting yanked under the table by the creature from the kitchen and he just sits and snaps a pic. Don't forget to smile! I bet he tossed the creature a tums afterward. Seriously though, great story. Both pics are in focus, both manage to highlight the fore and background. Nice lighting for a bright restaurant.
Girl lookin like she lives at the buffet and just waking up for a midnight snack. Hell name is Aah Yukanit Nguyen!
I just don't get why people take pictures of their food all the time.. They want to put it on every social media, and then send it back because it is cold...Well quit taking pics of it and eat!
Shot of bf is good but I actually love the shot of gf. To me it is much more interesting when the subject is in focus and the rest is a bit blurred. I like the way the eye goes right to subject yet the background kinda teases you into wanting to know what it looks like as well. Great light. I really like this one. Stick with taking pictures, both of you!
Composition is interesting as well. She is not smack dab in the middle of the frame, which is a common mistake among amateur photographers. They also don't pay attention to what's in the background -- like the building in the bf photo: it looks like he's wearing a big hat.
Load More Replies...The shot of the girl is way better - off centre composition adds drama and makes her seem way cool.
I love both of them. The shot of the bf shows that he's an average guy. He's got a girlfriend but prefers playing his video game. Dude, you got a joystick sticking out of your phone! Doesn't that poke your head when you try to answer the phone? Gotta love the shot of the gf as well. Out of focus but still great. In fact, I'd argue that due to her expression and subject matter of the shot it looks more rushed and hurried and more honest. She looks amazed that he was able to put the game down long enough to snap a pic of her eating cheeseballs. Sister, where are you that you got a giant container of cheeseballs sitting in the seat next to you? Both great shots!
Thats not his phone, its a psp (playstation portable) and you can get the big thing of cheeseballs at walmart, sams, and most grocery stores
Load More Replies...I would believe you. Both awesome shots! If I had to choose a fave it would be the shot of the gf. I love the color, subdued lighting and the way she looks so engaged in what she's looking at or thinking of. Awesome job to you both. And I just realized that the shot of the bf is next to oversized table and chairs. Awesome use of black and white colors without going into b&w and the shadows really set it off. Kinda hard to look all serious when you are standing next to 12 foot table and chairs! Just awesome!
The GF pic wins hands down... those colors, the trees, the position of the other people and her.. Maybe a little brighter but i spent more time drawn into her pic by far..
Load More Replies...Great job to you both! The real story is in the eyes. You both captured something that photographers have been trying to capture from day one. I really like these shots. Way to go!
They're both good but I like the shot of the gf. Love that glow and thoughtful far away gaze.
I love that the one place he chose to snap a pic is when you stand under the evacuation route sign. Now that's a typical guy. Always looking for the exit.
Why do so many people take pictures of each other eating?! I don't really get it
What I get from this entire article is that guys are looking at us. Not our imperfections. Us. They like the picture they see and press the shutter. They obviously care more about us then we do since they think the moment they have captured is best. No perfection. Just us.
My husband actually take better pics than me. He had an eye for photography, I do not. Simple.
I long for the days of sitting in a pub with a pint and literally no one is on their phone, everyone is present in the now. It was a good time.
It’s not a gender thing. I take flattering photos of friends and half of them take the worst angles or lighting or zoom way in...part personal preference, part skill set, part just what?!
I am sick of "spontaneous" frozen instagram pictures. They look like they have been taken by the same person over and over again.I even prefer the eating pics over the "look at me taking the picture for the 2000th time" pics
