When I retire, I might take in an older cat. I wouldn't want a lovely companion to outlive me, unless I'm certain it ends up loved by someone else.

We don't know the whole story. Maybe the family owns several pets but this one dog was too aggressive did them personally, or just did better as a single pet. Either way, without context this is pretty trashy

As other people have said, we don't know the full story. These people may have realised that the dog was too much for them, and wanted a calmer or easier dog. Or perhaps they had kids, and the dog turned out not to like kids, so they decided to get a more kid friendly dog. In a lot of cases it is definitely better for the dog to be rehomed, rather than staying with people who can't give him what he needs. This is still heartbreaking though. I hope this dog finds a good forever home.

She's been attacked by many other vegans for forcing her diet on her fennec. Most would rather feed their pets the required diet. Years back, when I was a vegetarian, I only had pets that were naturally vegetarian. It's not up to the pet to change its diet/lifestyle to suit the owner.

Yes, other vegans I've met would never do this to an animal, because they love animals and understand biology! I think it is rare for someone to come to such an extreme as to think that what may be healthy for humans (or ethical, depending on reasons for choosing veganism) does not apply to animals... carnivores can't live without meat, and animals are not bound to any moral code. They have their instincts and need to stay healthy and alive .

Same - with the difference that I actually don't live with an animal (not on purpose - there should be a few spiders around somewhere ... live on their own, I usually don't bother them). A Fox, Dog, Cat is not a vegan. A human is perfectly equipped for that - these are not, end of story.
