People Are Sharing ‘Non-Romantic’ Ways Their Partners Show Love, And We Wish This Thread Would Never End
Whoever thought you could only express love with flowers and romantic candlelit dinners was completely wrong. There are so many other ways one can make their significant other feel loved and the Twitter thread created by writer Hattie Gladwell proves it. She asked "What's one thing your partner does that’s not necessarily romantic but makes you love them a bit more" and people flooded the timeline with responses (some are quite unexpected!). Scroll down below to read them!

yeah he is great- but he realises what he has. YOU are amazing!
When you felt like you wanted to be alone and lonely... He understood you better that you needed a friend to walk with you through the recovery journey...
I love this! My husband is the very same way! In addition, I suffer social anxiety and whenever he recognizes that I am anxious, he looks for the nearest bit of water, be it a lake, a fountain, or even our shower and leads me to it... He is amazing to me.
My, went from knowing how to only take care of himself, to being able to care for me, and do the kitchen and laundry! He is amazing. He also works full time!
No way, it's awesome when girls fart. Let it rip ladies, it happens. Who cares!
You're a bit of an odd duck, Ben. Especially your taste in salad. -- (You've been trolled.)

Load More Replies...Are you sure that it has nothing to do with the fact that he just like's videogames?
I remember when my mom date my now step-father. He has 2 sons fron his previous marriage. And whenever they switched kids (me went out with my step- dad and my mom with my step brothers) he never ashamed to enter girls accesories and just picked up a bandana and stuff. Tie my hair on the spot and just sitting on a bench, talking.. :)
Don't make assumptions and accusations about other people's relationships.
Load More Replies...Very true. Giving CPR can take a lot of work so it helps to have more than one person.
Load More Replies...Stupid question: but don't you have to be first- aid trained (including cpr) in the USA in order to get a drivers license?
No, it isn't a requirement in the USA. Follow up to your question? Do you need to be re-certified at set intervals and/or to renew your license?
Load More Replies...Not everyone wants to get married. My partner and I have been together for 24 years and aren't married.
Load More Replies...I have Crohn's too and to me true love is when my husband helps me when I'm prepping for a colonoscopy
There are new treatments out there for Crohn’s now. Talk to your doctor about trying some out. It will make you feel so much better! Good luck!
Not all ladies like getting pictures of cucumbers. This must be real love.
:( My wife rejected me and degraded herself in four short words when I called her beautiful. :(
My husband calls me sweetheart, has done from the moment we met 23 years ago. He's my best friend
If my husband did that I would be shocked and then start laughing and loving it ! Okay I know it won't happen because he doesn't cook.
We were mad at him for a sec... then awe struck and wishing his clone was our guy.
Load More Replies...This put tears in my eyes so fast. It's nice to know someone out there is a good person.
My husband pulls out his book of D&D monsters and together we find one that best describes my panic attack or episode Once we've named it we work on vanquishing it together. He will rub my back until I fall asleep when my mind is restless or anxious. He always addresses me as Lady Roy in texts. He wakes me up with kisses every morning and stays in bed reading until I wake up if I'm using his shoulder as a pillow. He's my best friend.
Load More Replies...My anxiety held me in my seat (I couldn't go into new shops or places etc). Mine went in to get what we needed (fortunately I found removing wheat removed the anxiety. Don't miss it).
Does removing wheat affect anxiety? Seriously? Willing to try anything :)
Load More Replies...My husband too! He started after I had hip surgery and couldn’t manage the basement stairs. Still does it four years after. ( and the snow removal, and the trash, and the car inspections, and the lawn mowing, and the vacation planning and the list is tooooo long❣️)
can I borrow him? mine always refuses to do litter boxes - we're between cats just now, and he's already insisting that if (when) I get another cat, the litter box is my job
My husband and I sleep on separate twin beds so we don't wake each other up when we roll over at night. But last year I had hernia surgery. The doctor told us to make sure everything was sterile at home. I worked the Saturday before my surgery and my husband told me he was going to get the house thoroughly cleaned to prep for surgery. When I got home though, I found he'd moved his bed out into the living room and positioned my in the center of the room, all with clean sheets and linens. I asked why he did that. He said "You will be tired and mobility challenged when you get home. I wanted you to be able to get out of bed on whatever side you needed and I want you to be able to get some good sleep without me snoring in your ear all night. And if you want to come out and watch TV in the living room, you'll have my bed to lay on." I just looked at him and tackled him with a hug!
My husband, went with me and we bought adjustable beds, a split king, which is two extra long twins. And they fit in too our bed frame. Because I haven’t been able to sleep in our bed sinc 2016, because of back pain, I’ve been in the recliner in the living room! Now I can be in the room with him, next to him again! Even though he likes to watch Rick and Morty! As he falls asleep. So I go in there to bed, after he’s asleep, and then turn it off! Need to compromise!
My hubby is my hot water bottle. I've developed the technique of getting within a n inch of his body to get warm without touching him. That makes it his fault if he moves and feels my cold feet and knees xx
I had a friend who was like this. I had a really bad, long panic attack once, and I came into our cabin crying and scared. She held me for 30 minutes straight, even though I was dripping wet and all gross. I am forever thankful she has been in my life these past few years. Love you girlfriend!
That's a perfect way to describe my depression. Like weather! Even my good days are overcast.
I think she is disabled/sick (see wheelchair after name)
Load More Replies...It’s the little, everyday things, that make a life. It’s the love unspoken but done, that let you know, your honey is thinking of you, and you of him, or her.. it’s the looks of love, that need no words, because in life, Love has its own language, between those that share this wonderful, gift.
My husband is the bug-hunter in our family too. Whenever there is a bug on the ceiling, he gets out a wooden yard stick and walks through the house with it holding it with both hands in front of him like he's a samurai about to go into battle.
i used to always ask, "Do you want to speak to the person in charge, or the admin assistant that actually runs the place?"
My fiance says I'm his fiance, without thinking, then, giggles when people call me his wife.
I also have spinal arthritis. Was diagnosed at 21. It sucks but this is so sweet!!
Just diagnosed last year at 47...and it truly sucks!!
Load More Replies...Omg, I do too! Have had 2 neck surgeries, numerous shots in my lower back, and he has been through it all with me. When it was discovered, I was close to being paralyzed if I hadn’t had surgery. When I woke up, he was holding my hand, and I cried! Nothing hurt, but he was there, and that’s what made me cry! I even had weight loss surgery last year, and he went to every doctor appointment, support group or meeting with me, pre surgery. I’ve lost 100 pounds now, and still need shots, still have some more to lose, but I don’t need a walker anymore, just a cane, and I help when I can, as he was doing it all for a while. He’s amazing! This year, we will be married for 25 years, and he’s taking me to New York!
I have a bad back and pain in my hips sometimes. Anytime I ask him for help with trimming my toenails, he gives me the whole spa treatment. Cut, file, foot soak in epsom salt bath, foot rub and lotion. My feet feel amazing afterwards!!! I always return the favor by cooking him one of his favorite meals the next day.
I had a guinea pig once. I wa 13. He was all white, and screamed bloody murder, unless he was in my closet. I thought he might be a vampire, as he preferred the darkness, didn’t like being held. I thought he was a she, hence the name! But one day, was changing. His shavings and he had a penis, and I saw it.
Mine does this too..and also checks the weather. He will be by the door before I leave with whatever he thinks I will need..Umbrella, raincoat, cold water (if it's a hot day.) He's my protector.
Me too. If your husband needs any advice..have him call my hubby..he's been the reigning spider hunter for 28 years now.
Monthlies can be debilitating. 😐 A loved one of mine also suffers greatly.
And yet women are still expected to carry like nothing is happening.

Mine knew I was worried about my Sister taking care of my Dad by herself (He has late stage dementia.) She is 3000 miles away. I told her if she needed help, I could come up for a few weeks to let her get caught up on important paperwork/appointments as well as let her get some sleep. She paid for the ticket and I went and helped. Then when I returned, my husband knew I'd be exhausted, not only from taking care of someone that could not take care of themselves, but from the emotional stress of seeing the person that was my Dad gone. He comforted me and let me have my own space for the first few days back, taking my son out so I could have the house to myself. My sister thanked me for helping. I told her that my husband needed the thanks because he helped me so I could help her....
Our house fell behind in cleaning because of my back issues. A few months ago my husband took a "vacation" from work for about a week. I thought he would want to take off and go someplace out of town. Instead he spent the entire vacation getting the house cleaned and caught up on projects so that I could easily manage it from there on out. His comment on the first day "You tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it." I seriously doubt that I deserve this man.... But I'm glad he's here.
My husband, after seeing me clean for a day, then spend three days in bed from the pain, got me a maid service, once a week! It really helps, and I pick up to help, but don’t mop or anything like that!
Mine knows I like thunderstorms. He also knows that thunderstorms calm me to the point of helping me fall asleep. So when they come through our area at night, he will make sure I'm all set up in bed and then turn off all the lights so that I can watch the lightening flash and hear the thunder rumble as a nod off.
My brother had to do mine. Was told 2 or 3 weeks....4 months til they found the right dose of rat poison tablets
It's lonelier to be in a relationship with the wrong one.
Load More Replies...oh lol every single pringle although now reading all these I kinda wish I did
My beautiful woman always lets me put subtitles on, so I can read the words first, then focus on the pictures
Might be either. I don't allow my husband to wash up cos he doesn't do it 'properly' ;)
Load More Replies...My husband NEVER shares food with anyone but me! He knows I like to taste what he got, and Vice versa!
what do you have against cheese (unless you're a vegan, which would make sense... no offense to vegans)
There are lots of ways to love and be loved...marriage is only one path. I don't know if you're going to find a spouse or not, it's not a guarantee in this world. But I do know that there are friendships, pets, volunteering, etc. that you can probably get involved with. There is love and companionship in many places :)
Load More Replies...These are cute, my husband helps me with the cling film after I make lunch for work. He has a way with it. He knows that it is my nemesis and it would be hilarious to watch me wrestle with the damn stuff. But he doesn't and always wraps up my food and I am grateful XD
I love this thread! My bf lives in Belgium and I live in the UK - he flies over to visit me and doesn't complain about the fact that I don't have the money to fly to him just right now. He makes me feel good about body - usually guys don't like that I'm physically stronger than them, but he really seems to love that I can pick him up XD. He respects me as a gamer and doesn't belittle my skills. He fluffs up my pillow if he sees it's gone flat. He finds any excuse to touch me in the gentlest way - just a little kiss on the shoulder or a touch on the cheek. Little ways of showing how much he wants to be near me. Damn, I love this guy.
Forgot something important! Ever since I told him I'm self conscious about my belly/strechmarks, he's made a point of stroking and kissing my belly as much as possible.
Load More Replies...My boyfriend is amazing. We had a rough year last year and i had a few nervous breakdowns. I would say why does God keep doing this to me and why do bad things happen to me. And he would always say, "Yes bad things are happening now but you have so much to be thankful for and so much good in your life." when the darkness hits me hard he always find the light to bring me back. hes great.
My cousin's partner researched Brazilian blowout and straightened her hair. It took him 4 hours, but he did a great job. If that isn't love, I don't know what is.
This is so cool! Sounds like she found an awesome partner ☺️

my girlfriend always makes sure i'm ok before she worries about herself, like asking if i'm cold or if she should scoot over for me to have more room. she also calms me down in the midst of a panic/anxiety attack. love her.
My ex husband did none of these... The boyfriend does a few of them
