Most of us surely remember helping our parents and grandparents solve technology related problems, because "you play on the computer all the time, so you must know everything about it".
Sometimes though they fail at technology so hilariously that you just can't resist sharing their mistakes with the "tech wise kids". Bored Panda collected such examples to remind that while our parents and grandparents may know much more than we, the younger generation do, when it comes to technology it's us that come to the rescue.
If you've captured someone older failing at technology be sure to add it to this list. And don't forget to upvote and comment your favorite fails as well!

Takes some patience and concentration to actually write this down properly. Well done, lady!
My dad does this. He will write down his favorite pages or email addresses of his friends...the end result being that his computer desk is covered with Post-It Notes. I'm like, "Did you save your grandson's email address?" and he points to a Post-It Note. 😂😂😂
Not buying it that this is an elderly persons handwriting. Too many things in it point to a more younger generation way of writing
When My Grandma Googles Something She Puts "Please" And "Thank You"
Maybe she's just a visionary already living in a future where machines have feelings and are self-aware. Thanks, grandma!
Or maybe, just maybe she was working on tech support and she knows that those words make it much faster. BTW, first link looks correct so what is the problem?
Load More Replies...She sounds like a lovely person. Perhaps she thought there was one of many people working on the other side of the search-engine; answering every question that appears & she simply wanted to be polite (as many people asking for help -whether it's via the internet or phone- don't hide their rudeness, which I'm sure this lady probably knows to be true). If only every heart was as pure & golden as this lovely lady's one... 💕✨💛✨💕
In this case, Google actually replied to her with a 'Thank You' note for her kindness. https://twitter.com/GoogleUK/status/743021042822750209?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
My daughter says thank you to the Google voice thing on the phone after we ask it something and it answers your welcome. 😁😁
Maybe she read Asimov's "Key Item". Btw, you should, it's great (And may ring a bell on my comment) :D
We ALL could use practice at good manners... even when NO ONE is listening! LOL!
Props to her. Even if it is just using Google, respect like that is hard to come by these days
My Nana Asked Me To Fix Her Phone Because "The Outside Clock Is Always Showing The Wrong Time"
My friend took his calculator back because it always had the wrong answer...For the same reason.
My Grandmother Complained Her Remote Was Confusing, So I Grandma-Ified It For Her
Honestly, all the other buttons are kind of a waste unless you have on demand.
I have an older Comcast control and most functions don't even work. They're literally just there but not even in the provider's features.
Load More Replies...The kindest thing anyone ever did for older people in this generation. Thank you..

My 90 Year Old Grandma From Japan, Showing Us How She Zooms In With An Iphone
Maybe you should adjust the accessibility features on your 90-year-old grandmother's phone for her.
Even my eyes can't read the biggest font without my glasses anymore and I'm half her age.. I'm getting a magnifying glass .. haha.. go nana!
Load More Replies...There are some people who uses adaptive screen magnifiers because most phone's adaptive features are so crummy. I know this because my eyesight's really horrible. I don't use anything though but has tried to use adaptive features on phones and tablets before and didn't really help. I literally had to buy one of those plastic card-style magnifiers to read certain smaller texts because my phone and tablet's max zoom sometimes don't help. (It only makes my eyes strain too much.) But this works too I guess. :)
My Grandma Is Getting Pretty High Tech These Days...
I'm 70, and I don't like 3D or 4D or however far it's advanced these days. It scares me when something jumps off a screen at me when I'm not expecting it. 50 years ago, I was considered a computer (such as they were) wizard. Now my great-grandkids know more than I do, And they're much more patient than their parents when I have questions. I go to them first!

My Mom is 92 and just set up her 2nd DVD player all on her own. She has 3 TV's, 2 DVD players, a sound bar, Cable TV and she set it up all on her own. She's a better Tech than I am and I'm over 30 years younger. She never had any technical experience except for trial and error. Plus, I'm like her, I never use instructions and have faster results.
yup, I used this kind all through elementary school and seventh grade. Now I use a slightly more high tech version, though

I feel like the process of getting a picture off of your phone and printed is far more sophisticated.
Good point. If she can do that she should probably be a consultant.

This picture was used in a Bored Panda article before but we weren't shown that it was printed out. Anyone remember what the article was?
I Told Him The Computer Was Frozen. He's Trying To Unfreeze It With A Blow Dryer
We've hijacked words and made them into something they don't understand, awww.
Indeed. This is something I had never heard before either. Does it mean the computer crashed?

The best idea!! I need to talk with my dad, he has to do that!
Good idea, I'll tell my mother to do this, I might understand her messages then.

My mother gave up learning how to use the computer years ago, she uses the mouse with her right hand, like all of us do, but her left hand always moves to the same direction as the mouse pointer....
Haha... My mom jerked up both her hands holding the control when she wanted Mario to jump on the screen.
Load More Replies...Lol Grandma's are awesome!! ... and that keyboard is a pain in the a*s,
I would understand that being a problem with the predecessor mouse to this one... The s****y puck mouse... But this one is a lack of mouse usage training. A few simple instructions would do wonders here, rather than showing off her ignorance on the Internet.

I think its pretty clear, this person thought the emoji was crying, not laughing so hard it cried.
This is like when people write "LOL" when something sad happens (like the death of a loved one) thinking it means "lots of love"!
My better half's Dad had a similar issue with "Lol" - He though it meant "Lots of Love" - All was pretty cute and humorous until a close friend of his passed away... :/
Funny how it reminds me of the LOL mix up. Don't matter because either way, the [insert animal here] will have its revenge soon enough...
Good Job, Grandma (She's 82)
Most likely nothing would happen, given that the two jacks are on separate circuits which don't communicate with each other. Also, considering that one jack is an open circuit, connecting it on one end to either the + or the - doesn't make electricity flow through it's also connected to the reverse (- and + respectively) on the other end. Therefore, Grandma was in no peril!
Thanks for clearing it out! (I still don't recommend anyone trying this at home, though. Unless you KNOW what you are doing, of course)
Load More Replies...It's an extension cable, as Jason Hook says, which allows you to have multiple electric devices plugged in from the same socket on the wall. You might not be recognising it because different voltages have different designs. This one from the photo is the standard in many European countries and in Korea, maybe in many other places in the world too. But in America, Canada and elsewhere, it might look different.
Load More Replies...Electric outlets are around for more than a century, and we were all taught not to poke random stuff in it, so i guess problem with this grandma is serious dementia, not her coping with technology that is actually older than her ...
Ummm... I apologize for thinking morbid, but couldn't that have killed her if she kept going?

Battery doctor lock screen I have it myself its quite handy. I get adds on my lock screen too.
I only get phone calls from my siblings when they have computer problems. I know how you feel.
I am sure it can feel like being used sometimes. But think of it this way, you could have no useful life skills and therefore needed by no one. It means your life adds value to the lives of others. They will appreciate it more in the future.

Just Got My Grandma Her First Cordless Phone. Baby Steps
At least she put it back on the dock. My grandma loses them as often as the remote!
Hey, at least she knows WHERE to put it. In my household for years, kids and adults alike lose these damn things like car keys or TV remotes.
I often had to call the house phone with the cell phone just to find the stupid thing.
My Grandma Printed Some Photos From Her Phone
It's not just old people. My teenagers save screenshots of images instead of saving the image itself.
Yes, I keep seeing this on OKCupid and Facebook. People of all ages don't understand tech, mostly because user interfaces SUCK and technology is unfriendly.

When Grandma Can't Hear You On The Phone
This is why I'm thankful for the earphones that came with my iphone. I use those things religiously for conversations.
I've done this with my speaker phone outside on windy days or on busy streets. It looks funny but works well.
You may be laughing but few first Nokia communicators had their sound devices on back. Confusing as hell...
Traveling With My Mom. Saw Her Phone, And Investigated. Informed Her That She Used The Screen Protector's Throwaway Film Instead Of The Actual Screen Protector. She Literally Used Trash As A Screen Protector
Probably just laying around unused or disposed of because she thought that it was the throwaway film instead of the actual screen protector.

I Swear Every Mom Texts Like This
I can confirm this. My mom will use her left thumb and right index finger. No idea how she does it. I'm all thumbs.
Agreed. The keyboard on iOS isn't designed to handle multiple fingers at once. Then there's the HORRIBLE iPad Pro on-screen keyboard which is an absolute abomination of looks-over-functionality (as in, it looks like you should touch type, but it is impossible).
Load More Replies...I'm not that old and I text like this! I don't use my thumbs as they are too clumsy.
Same here. I find texting with my thumbs to feel really awkward, especially since I have a slightly too-large phone.

You Gonna Need A Bigger Screen
No fail here, this is correctly functioning program that allows partially blind people to use computers.
Reminds me of my boss during meetings, she just turns to me with her screen super max out or so small you can't see anything and she has no idea how to fix it. I once showed a co-worker that you could right click for spell check, she was so shocked and said I saved her hours or work.
My Grandma Got A New Computer And Wanted Me To "Install" The Internet
Well, that's how it was done in the beginning. For my very first internet connection I had to use this. And afterwards heed the time I was online, because otherwise the telephone costs would go skyhigh!
Well I understand how she couldn't figure out where to stick it in the computer 😅
This was around the time that a pc's hard drive had around 40 MB (!) I doubt if there were already porn sites then. ;)

Laugh all you want, you'll be THAT grandparent one day and kids will laugh at you for not knowing how to use the holo-transporter.
Honestly one of the best I've seen recently. I loughted so hard while reading, that my colleague next to me was giving me a strange look lol
The grandma of someone I know said some 15 years ago: "Does my tv also have that internet thing?" (Talking about those black pages with colourfull letters on it, don't know the english word....teletext?) Her younger family members all had a good laugh about that....silly grandma.....but who's laughing know?!?! She was a visionary!!!!
I'm 72 years old and this is the most I've laughed in four years! Of course I've been messing with computers for thirty some years.
You should all aspire to getting old. The alternative sucks. Hopefully you'll all get there.
My mom couldn't figure out how to set the time on her VCR back in the day. I countless times tried to teach her how, but ended up resetting it until I moved out. Years later I found out she still had never learned... She would just wait until 12:00, and unplug it/plug it back in. Honestly, I have to give her kudos for ingenuity.
I still don't understand twitter. I'm only 35. I'm going to be screwed in 10 years. Damn kids with their fancy future toys.
