It might be the norm in your country, but it isn't elsewhere. The only time a doctor has asked me about the date of my last period was during the first ante-natal visits. This was to calculate the babies' due dates. If I needed medication, or x-rays, etc that could damage a foetus, I was warned of the risk, and asked if I might be pregnant as a different course of treatment would be taken.

My mom has had medical issues for years and years, and all we ever hear is that it's related to her period- she has terrible pain pretty much all over her body at this point, and so many issues that few doctors have addressed. I don’t know if this might work for you but there’s hope because it seems like your doctors are also conservative. I told mine, “We’re swingers. Mostly safe sex but, ya know, sometimes… Anyhoo, if I don’t want to get pregnant to my husband, what makes you think I’d be willing to get pregnant to a stranger?” I was fast tracked as a brazen hussy who should not be permitted to “hurt” a guy by getting pregnant and demanding he support his offspring. I have ovarian/womb cancer and getting a hysterectomy is still only an "IF" ... it's also worth noting that years ago I also begged for a hysterectomy because my periods were so bad they were causing me to faint from blood loss, and I already know I'm infertile anyway. so wtf is the big deal. it's ridiculous. e_e
