If you're like me and you've ever wondered what fans say to movie stars when they see them on the street, then you'll be pleased to hear that the wait is finally over! BBC Radio 1 uploaded a series of videos on their TikTok account with actors answering exactly that question. The responses some of our fave actors gave ranged from hilarious and even heartwarming to just downright weird. It's a fun way to start your Monday morning and I definitely hope you feel the same way. It's also perfect proof that you can't avoid your fans, your reputation, and your earlier roles, no matter how hard you try.
I wanted to find out what the proper etiquette is for when we spot a movie star on the street, so I reached out to celebrity expert Mike Sington from LA. He was brutally honest that we shouldn't be doing what plenty of fans do. "When encountering a celebrity, don’t blurt out a well-known line from a movie they’ve acted in. They’ve heard that over and over again, and it gets very old. What they never get tired of is a compliment," he told Bored Panda.
"Simply be kind and pleasant and compliment them on their work: 'I thought you were extraordinary in such-and-such a movie,' or 'I really admire the work you do, I’ve been following your career for years.' Stars, just like anyone, simply want to meet a nice person, saying nice things. There’s no need for gimmicks," Mike pointed out that simplicity and being genuine is best.

Mike, who's written a book on proper etiquette when meeting celebrities, was also blunt about how we really shouldn't be giving them gifts, especially baked goods. It's a waste. And now I can't stop thinking about how many delicious cakes have been thrown out!
"I can guarantee you it’s going to get tossed. I mean, would you eat an item of food handed to you by a stranger on the street? I think baked goods are a common gift right now, because everyone seems to be baking, and it’s just there in their kitchen waiting to be given away! Your compliment on the celebrity’s work is gift enough. That they will cherish, it’s the validation they’re looking for," he said.
Don't go for gifts when a kind word will do.

I read once that Anthony said "people don't go to see a movie because of the star anymore, they go to see the character" so I've made it my mission to watch every single Anthony Mackie film to come out since then, and I'm impressed. takes me back to my childhood when I watched the latest Van Damme movie just cos it was the latest van Damme movie and my faith was rewarded

It's been years that i saw the movie but wasn't it clear what it was in the box? I mean if I'm not wrong i remember them saying exactly what it was they didn't leave it unclear... am i wrong?

Morgan Freemans character saw what was in the box and then told Brad Pitt to out the gun down but didn't tell him why or what was in the box, which is where him asking the question whats in the box a couple times.

Earlier, I had a chat with celebrity expert Mike about how there are no two ways to go about it when you're a well-known celebrity: you have to assume that you're always “on display,” always being watched by fans, even if you're trying to live a private life.
That's one of the reasons why it's best to be nice to your adoring public. We know, we know—the endless autographs and selfies can be exhausting, but being friendly and approachable is the best way to approach stardom.

“It does take some conscious effort on the celebrity's part to be nice, just knowing every interaction, and everything they're doing in public can be recorded,” LA-based celeb expert Mike told Bored Panda that there's a very practical reason to be nice.
“For some celebrities, in fact, I'd say most celebrities, being nice comes naturally. It doesn't take any special effort, because it's who they are as a person,” he pointed out that most stars aren't faking the smiles and the kind words. They're nice people in and out of character.

Mike, who has met hundreds of celebrities, shared how his experience has shown that “the bigger the star, the nicer the celebrity.” That's because they understand just how vital their fans are to their success. “The established stars have it down and understand the importance of the celebrity/fan relationship.”
Meanwhile, some fresh, up-and-coming stars might create problems and have more difficult personalities. However, in the movie business, that kind of outlook hurts more than it helps. “You usually only have a problem with the newer, up-and-coming stars. They at times don't get it and may think they're too good to interact with you. This attitude often backfires, and they realize if they want longevity, it's actually not that hard to be nice,” Mike said.

The celeb expert highlighted how you have to always assume that somebody is going to take a photo of you if you're a high-profile star. “Everyone is carrying a camera phone, and the paparazzi have telephoto lenses and drones. There's simply no escaping it.”

There's also the fact that not every interaction with fans and the media is going to be wonderful. However, the lesson there is to embrace it and move on without breaking down. “Stars have to accept they are going to be at times mocked by the media and even the fans. You have to realize it comes with the territory,” Mike told Bored Panda.

I'm so totally out of touch that I could probably share a cab clear across the country with any of these people and never know they were anyone "famous". Literally the only one I even can connect with a movie role is Arnold Schwhatever and all the rest are just random faces that don't even trigger a connection when I read their name. I think I need to get out more...

I have met some famous people and managed to act like a normal person. Then I met Jared Leto and was instantly transformed to a 12 year old girl who said. "You were awesome." I was 44 years old. ack!

My Dad was involved in high level stuff while I was growing up... Hanging with generals and industry folks... No fear in that man. He was in England and they were filming a movie and he just sits down next to Pierce Brosnan and they chat like they're old friends as my Dad tells him he got robbed by not getting a second Bond movie. I'll never be cold stone calm like that man, but I don't get impressed by movie people. They're just folks working for a living by acting, an old and proud profession, but other than having a lot of money they're no better or worse than you or me.
