Wallace is so underrated in the U.S., I love Wallace and Gromit, have forever, so I try to spread them around as much as possible. Several of my friends were actually shocked when they sit down and watch one of the movies. I've converted a few people!

Probably one of my favorite shows ever. Whenever I (used) to travel I would watch it in the airplane if it was available. Its so cool and the animation is amazing. The characters are so adorable and unique.

Wensleydale cheese is actually quite good! Unfortunately it's commonly sold with fruits in it (cranberries or apricots), and hard to find in its pure, delicious, northern form. Thanks, Wallace!

So great! For better and worse, similarly, I've heard that 101 Dalmations caused some huge increase in the number of people buying those dogs, breeders and pet stores were suddenly inundated with requests for them. You wonder if advertising and product placement can work? Yep, it sure as heck can! Big business doesn't plow trillions of dollars a year into ads b/c they're stupid.

The characters also ended the American negative stereotype that Britons all have bad teeth. Most of us know that is not true, but it still comes up in the media from time to time...or when Boris smiles.

Almost a decade later Williams took upon himself another challenge which looking back seems really immense - writing the Harry Potter score. Think about it - Hedwig's theme (and many others) is written in millions' of people's memories. When you think HP - many of us can hear it in our heads.

No. Sorry. False equivalency. Harry Potter is fantasy fiction. Schindler’s List is a true story of supreme altruism (though Schindler was not the type and didn’t originally intend to be involved in helping Jews escape—-he started out being just fine with using them for slave labor in his factory, after all) from a time of unconscionable human cruelty to other humans. One is only imagined, unconnected to real life, and is unimportant in comparison (not meant to offend, but you’d have to admit it’s true if you think deeply about it); while the other is fact, it actually did happen in real life—-as unimaginable as it may seem—-that it, and everything else about the horrors of that time, are so important they should never, ever be allowed to be forgotten. So Williams not feeling he was good enough to write the score for Schindler’s List, and Spielberg’s response, which infers that the better composers—-including the children who never got the chance to grow up and become the better composers—-were murdered in the concentration camps carries incredibly heavy meaning.

I am not a great movie watcher but I have seen Schindler's list several times. It is without doubt the most magnificent and moving film which I have ever seen. The music for it is often played on the radio simply as wonderful and moving example of a piece of music in its own right, and more than quite rightly so. For someone who said that a better composer than himself was required, I could not disagree more. Outstanding score. Thank you John and thank you Steven for genius. As a matter of interest, the original book was called Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keanally. I am given to understand that the word 'List' was substituted for Ark as a play on words between English and German, because List in German means trick or scam. If i am wrong, I apologise and I am certain that there will be many out there who will correct me. Thanks

Reddit user Niiue, one of the moderators of the Movie Details community, spoke with Bored Panda about the hidden details in movies and whether directors place them in the hope that the audience will find them.

"Most details are definitely there for the audience to find, but I think a lot of it also just comes down to creative people wanting to have fun with their projects. Speaking from experience here (though I work on video games, not movies), it really is a lot of fun to add little Easter eggs and whatnot just for the hell of it," Niiue said.

We were also interested to know which production houses and directors are most adept at hiding Easter eggs in their movies.

"Besides the obvious choices like Pixar, I think Edgar Wright is another example of someone great at hiding details in his movies. Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim, and Hot Fuzz are the first ones that come to mind in this regard. You'll find that his movies tend to get featured on this subreddit a lot, which I think reflects his skill as a director."

I was fortunate to meet Chris when I was working background on 12 STRONG. It was in January and FREEZING even in New Mexico. There were only five of us working BG that day. Chris came over and introduced himself and asked if we were comfortable (we were playing neighbors of his character on base in Kentucky). Albuquerque doubled for it with fake snow that really worked. We had a "heating hut" with our own propane heater. He could not have been nicer! At the end of the day, he came out with a handful of chocolate---which I will NEVER eat. He's truly one of the nicest leading actors out there!

Moderator Niiue also told us all about their personal favorite hidden movie details. "Personally, I liked the way Scott Pilgrim had a recurring number motif tied to the Evil Exes. For those who aren't familiar with the story, the gist of it is that the protagonist has to fight his new girlfriend's six ex-boyfriends (and one ex-girlfriend) in order to continue their relationship, as a parody of the bosses fought in a typical video game," they summed up the plot of the movie.

"In the scenes before each fight, there are numerous references to the corresponding Evil Ex; for instance, right before the fight with Lucas Lee, the main characters pass by two crossing signs with an X design, a reference to Lucas being the second Evil Ex. These kinds of references even continue after the Evil Ex in question is introduced, such as Lucas Lee saying (twice) that it will take "two minutes to kick [Scott's] ass", and later fighting Scott accompanied by his stunt doubles."

They continued: "Sometimes these motifs even apply to the protagonist. Later in the film (spoilers!), after defeating Evil Ex #4, Scott's girlfriend dumps him, saying that he's 'just another Evil Ex waiting to happen.' Afterwards, Scott's seen wearing a Fantastic Four shirt with an edited logo saying '4½.'"

OMG, this movie. I watched this movie about 3 weeks after my Dad died. My Dad was 85 when he died. We thought he'd live to be 100. My Mom, his wife, died two years before. He never recovered. He became a ghost of himself. The only thing that kept him going was taking in a stray, feral cat he'd been feeding and taming for about 6 years. He had someone else to take care of. I can't even think about that movie without getting choked up. (A good test for psychopathy is if a person can watch Up and not cry.)

Yet this wonderful—-and true—-story was shoved to the sidelines in favor of a cheesy fictional, historically inaccurate, and totally not believable, romance. As were all the other, way more interesting and movie-worthy, true stories, as anyone with an interest in history will attest. The contrived characters actually ruined the film for me. I unhappily sat through it once when it came out, only because I went with a friend who loved it, and have refused to watch it again.

This is really brave (If it is true). Drowning is a hideous death: SHOCK of knowing that death is imminent INVOLUNTARY BREATH HOLDING The victim has now dropped below the static water line and the body, in an attempt to protect itself initiates involuntary breath holding. This occurs because water has entered the mouth and causes the epiglottis to close over the airway. Though a victim may continue to struggle, he/she will not usually make any sounds as he/she cannot breathe. Without oxygen, the victim will lose consciousness. UNCONSCIOUSNESS HYPOXICCONVULSION Violent convulsions, frothing of saliva and extremities turn blue as life departs CLINICAL DEATH heart stops along with all circulation of blood

Good news then that hypothermia is supposed to be one of the most tranquil accidental deaths possible.

What a fascinating premise! So sorry his sister was murdered, and I hope her husband is either burning in hell now, or destined to die in prison then burn in hell. And no, I have no sympathy for him, if he grew up in an abusive household. Not everyone with that kind of past becomes an abuser, and since we choose how to act/react to any situation, whether we’re aware of it or not, he could have chosen to break the cycle right then and there. But he didn’t, so forfeited his right to any sympathy. Period.

Wonderful movie..gorgeous music. I just cried starting with the murder of the deer and onto the end. I cheered out loud and cried some more at the end of the film...hoping and hoping he would come back...if a film ever screamed for a sequel...this is it. Just beautiful! It's a shame that there are so many of these sad cases where innocent victims are killed. What kind of commentary can justify this...THERE IS NONE!

Movie Easter eggs can (and do) bring a lot of joy to film-goers. For example, one of my favorite movies is 2002’s Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. The movie’s based on a true story about con artist Frank Abagnale. (Minor spoilers ahead.)

I can’t tell you just how blown away I was to learn that the real Abagnale made an appearance in the movie as a police officer arresting DiCaprio playing Abagnale!

Though I never had the patience for Alfred Hitchcock’s movies (I still need some more maturity for them), I can appreciate his dedication to his craft. One of the most influential moviemakers in all of cinema, Hitchcock is known as one of the very first directors to put Easter eggs in his films.

One of his recurring hidden details is the fact that he makes cameos in his own movies. He appeared in a total of 40 of the 52 movies that he directed.

And don’t even get us started about Pixar and Disney movies that are chock-full of subtle references to pop culture and other animations. One thing’s for sure, I’m going to watch movies like a hawk from now on. What about you, dear Pandas?

A real actors' director! One of the hardest things film actors have to manage, because films are usually filmed out of sequence (costs re locations, actors' availability calling the shots) is where they were emotionally in the previous scene....which may have been shot weeks before.

The tent scene, I know! But E.T. didn´t die, E.T. was just sick because of consuming alcohol for fun, lost the signals to home planet and things went worse ... deeply chilled in tent and with the love of the kids, bodypower improved, E.T. foned home, sended an s.o.s. with a vinyl LP and a fork and went home ...

    Lisa Letson

To put it simply, It’s more cost effective to film scenes at locations and time periods all at once before moving on to the next, even if they appear at different moments in the fully edited movie. Ex filming everything on a particular “day” in the movie in a certain city, there’s continuity to the wardrobe, hair/makeup/etc and then the whole crew packs up and saves costs and relocated to the next location. Plus actors’s schedules are taken into account. Not sure why this is hard to understand. It’s a business like any other and they’re being efficient.

Kid Notices Something That Most Of Us Wouldn't Have: Up(2009), Cars 2 (2011)

Home with a sick kid today watching Up. Suddenly the 7 year old says, "Mom, wait. I've seen this scene before in another movie!' We pause and I take a picture of it (pic below), and within seconds he navigates to Cars 2 and pauses the screen on this exact scene (pic 2 below). What?!! They're the same. How in the world did he notice this? Unbelievable.

There's a theory that all of these movies happen at different times in the same world/universe. Another theory is that Cars 1&2 are set in a post apocalypse world where people literally lived in their cars and evolved to fuse with them. What if this is one of the last remnants of the old that has been preserved?

It's details I remember knowing since 20, 30 years whenever I go by there and see them, but I don't remember them when I'm elsewhere ... it's about patterns ... maybe this is, like, similar?

Before CGI movies were full of this sort of thing. I think it stimulated the production teams' creativity in ways that are now lost. My favorite bit in 'A New Hope' is when they're driving into Mos Eisely. A pair of tall, spindly legs walks casually across their path. You never see who or what they belong to and they're never referenced again. Just something to make the scene more other-worldly.

OMG--how I love this film. Lilo saying her friends "need to be punished" to Cobra Bubbles, and Stitch mocking Jumba while he wiggled his butt was just hysterical. The scene with the ducklings (I have an art print of that) absolutely brought tears..and we saw it when it premiered on my birthday!

Funny, that your last name here means "Evil" when you're so compassionate. :) I don't think the cat was suffering for long, just a bit frustrated for maybe a couple of minutes.

Anyone with a cat, especially a black cat, knew immediately that’s what Toothless was modeled on. And sticking something on a cat’s tail is really mean, even if you’re only doing it to study it. They don’t like it, and can injure themselves running around like crazy, as we’ve all seen them do, trying to get it off their tail. Lecture now over.

Years ago, my neighbor's cat was running around like crazy in our backyard because she had a chip clip (!) on her tail. It was really sad to see. Her meows were very frantic.

BRILLIANT!! I am not a cat fan (the big ones yes), but this works. Also had a friend trying to stop them from walking on her kitchen counter (two of them). She put aluminum foil on it, and when they jumped up, it was hysterical. It worked for a little while. I will stick with my awesome dogs...no such thing as a seeing eye cat!

The obsession with details and Easter eggs in the Harry Potter moves is incredible. The gigantic volume HARRY POTTER STAGE TO SCREEN lists 1000s of plot details, set decor, costume decisions, that aren't blatant, but have kept Potter-heads rewatching the movies on giant screen TVs frame-by-frame. In THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Part 1, in the common room there is a poster for the London East End stage production of EQUUS, which starred Daniel Radcliffe.

It kinda makes sense considering how long it takes to develop these films. If they spend weeks on a single scene and have to put a painting in it that they choose one with a hidden meaning.

Funnier fact - the majority of the Rohirrim in both Two Towers and Return of the King were played by women wearing beards because the casting call required people to be skilled equestrians and provide their own horses, and most of the people who responded to it were women.

and he still left out Tom Bombadil and the Sourging of the Shire. leaving bombadil out is egregious enough. Cutting off the Scourging of the Shire is sacrilege. the Scourging of the Shire changes the entire story... the Hobbits loosing their innocence, but also rising up in defense of their home against a defeated Sarumon. If you've only seen the movies, your missing half the story, even if it was only the last chapter.

Its so obvious. Also, when Gothel talks about love, its always about the hair, never about Rapunzel. They making it blatantly obvious she loves the power, not the girl.

I noticed this since I've watched Tangled several times. I just love Rapunzel since I was a kid though the Disney story is different from the book. I even read the original one.

I love both broccoli and bell peppers, even as a little kid. Never had broccoli on pizza, but I'd try it. Broccoli + cauliflower + Mac and Cheese is something I make regularly. I'll also have broccoli with spaghetti.

AND, Lilo and Stitch was changed for Disney Plus. In a scene where Lilo is hiding from her older sister Nani, Lilo hides in the washing machine, but this concerned some parents so they re-animated it so that Lilo hides in a big box or something.

Hmmmm but if time is faster where gravitational pull is higher, shouldn't they be pulled onto the planet much more? Wouldn't it be difficult to stand upright and walk?

It's the gravity well of the black hole that distorts time not that of the planet (the planet has less gravity than Earth IIRC). There's a whole segment of the movie where they explain how they will avoid orbiting the planet so the mothership can stay further away from the black hole and mostly avoid the time distortion.

If I remember correctly, this is the point where we visually see Aragorn decide that he will take up his heritage as the heir of Gondor. He’d been running from it and this was a main point of contention as Boromir was supposed to be Denethor’s heir as steward and if the heir of the king came back he would have less power. At his death Boromir tells Aragorn “my brother....my king.” And Aragorn promises he will protect his people. It’s beautifully portrayed.

It's a very clear and audible transition, too, as the last cheerful song is literally cut off mid-lyric by the discovery of the village.

also the girl worth fighting for isnt their respective future wives, its the girls who lost their lives during the war. which is why they show the little girl doll after the song, the owner of the doll , a little girl, died in the village. Thats what they have been fighting to prevent.

If various politicians would stop standing in the way and allow implementation of advanced reactor technologies, uranium mining and the environmental consequences could stop tomorrow. There is so much stockpiled "spent" nuclear fuel just sitting in containment vessels that if properly applied to new reactor types could power our civilization for decades.

It happens all well the time on other people's posts as well. I can read the whole article on my computer but not on my phone. Does anyone else have this problem? that happened to me too once. I dont think its your dino of phone (dosent matter the model unless you can make calls- my philosophy). I have a Samsung A51. Its happened some times. It could be your net work- like if someone is uploading anything in your house, or you are in a location with like 1 bar of wifi. Or maybe your phone needs to be restarted/updated and some old apps and files can be trashed. Once a week I clean my phones file storage, it helps a lot with lag, and frees up A TON of space. On my old J7, I once freed up 80 mb of storage just getting rid of old files and photos I didnt truly need. Hope this helps. :)

Right, that was before everyone got in the van. But then once in the van, nobody would notice for the reason explained.

NO! They counted 17 people but there was one person who was a friend who was coming but they didn't know since they were turned around when they got counted. So there were 17 people.

This doesn't make sense. Whatever the number of persons (even or odd) they could just assume that Kevin was in the other Van. That only if anyone cared about Kevin at all.

This is pretty cool. I have a friend with one eye, but I've never seen her without the prosthetic. It seems weird now that I never thought to ask -- or maybe I thought about it at one point but realized it was a terrible idea, with her emotionally raw from losing it, and eventually stopped wondering? I dunno. But good on this guy for wanting to show his truth and Peter Jackson for letting him.

The best thing about that whole scene is when Neville ducks behind a rock when Hagrid asks if anyone wants to come and say hello to Buckbeak.

If I was dragging a heavy smelly dead alien carcass across the Salt Flats (I’ve been there in summer and I know how f*****g hot they can be), knowing I needed to bring the godawful thing with me, I’d be grumbling and yelling out much much worse than that. F-Bombs would be dropping and filling the air like the stench of a dead alien.

Michael Clark Duncan’s character in the book and movie, John Coffey, was just pure sweetness. He was an empath who took on the suffering of others, and always used his gift of healing to help those who really needed it. He was in prison because people assumed he had killed the two little murdered—-by someone else; someone white, I might add—-girls on whom he was actually trying to use his gift to bring back to life, only he’d found them too late. I couldn’t stop crying for him when he was executed, because I saw it as needless destruction of the purest, sweetest, and most completely spotless soul, by people who could never achieve that, even if they devoted themselves to doing good works for the rest of their lives. It’s been years since I read the book and saw the movie and, thinking about it right now, I have a lump in my throat.

No, today it's usually aluminium mail, because yarn doesn't look good even on screen. It was standard at that time, however. Yarn mail in reenactment is absolutely frowned upon.

Dorothy?? She did die eventually but not right after this. Also the whole 'somebody hung themselves'thing they found to be untrue. The movie has issues to be sure, but Judy Garland lived another 30 years after it. (Though she did have a drug problem- that wasn't just from this movie though.)

Many memoirs and documents of the time indicate he was. Wikipedia IS a really good resource, contrary to popular belief. He was an animal lover and anti-smoking. Yes he was a horrible person, but that does not mean he did not have characteristics that were not. And if people use the fact that Hitler was a vegetarian to demonize it OR to the polar opposite to say he wasn't all bad is only trying to further an agenda instead of looking at facts. MLK Jr was a womanizer but it doesn't lessen his impact on the civil rights movement. Same difference.

There is literally no evidence for the Hitler vegetarian myth. The people that spout these things just use Hitler to demonise any group they don't like - Hitler was this, Hitler was that. Hell, religious people still claim that Hitler was atheist despite his devout Catholicism and the Catholic quotes he put on his uniforms. These BS Hitler 'facts' are getting very old.

Hitler was a vegetarian according to memoirs and witness reports of his time, it is not modern day saying.

My personal piece of personal trivia relating to this movie is that the scene at the truck park where they try to siphon fuel was filmed at an actual 'greasy spoon' cafe and truck park near me. I visited there and when collecting your plastic cutlery at the checkout they had one extra compartment that contained disposable razors that could be taken for overnight parked drivers to get a clean up.

Perhaps they wanted the homage, but that's how they got the footage. Or they got the footage, and then decided to use it as an homage. So both can be true.

He's actually interacting as three different type characters, so the hair (and clothing and makeup changes) are in line with what the audience expected, right? This movie is a parody, so it's not meant to be taken seriously.

Another thing from the Matrix, when Neo is 0n the window ledge hiding from Agent Smith, the traffic below him appears to be going the wrong way down the road below, as the arrows are pointing in the wrong direction. The film was made in Australia which drives on the left, so the filmmakers reversed the direction of traffic in the film to make it appear like it was in the US, but left the arrows in the clip.

From wikipedia: "It has been rumoured that due to the apartheid laws in South Africa, none of the Zulu extras could be paid for their performance and that, consequently, Endfield circumvented this restriction by leaving them all the animals, primarily cattle, used in the film. This allegation is incorrect, as all of the Zulu extras were paid in full – the main body of extras were paid the equivalent of nine shillings per day each, additional extras eight shillings, and the female dancers slightly less." I have no idea how much 9 SA shillings was in the 1960s.

Oh, I see it. So if you look at the curved lines around the oval, those are actually Wolverine's claws, and then if you follow them down, they join into his fists and his folded forearms.

Once again, another inaccurate 'fact'. Not only do other species of mosquito (and ALL males) not drink blood, but the elephant mosquito doesn't trace back to the Jurassic, so canonically it would not be an elephant mosquito. Its just a meaningless prop.

I would call it symbolic rather than meaningless. It's the same thinking that shows dried blood to be bright red in crime shows. Hey, it's a movie, not a science fair winner.

Make sure, though that you respect the culture. In many places, traditional tattoos reflect culture, history, religion and family. They're deeply personal, even sacred. For example, Maori tattoos called Moko or Ta Moko shouldn't be used casually for this reason. Instead, Maori have a similar tattoo called Kirituhi, which is simply body art and can be performed and worn by anyone, since it has no special cultural significance.

It would be a nice easter egg if it were not for the fact the scene it's referencing was shot 20 years later.

Also The brothers took also sorts of Libertys with the Guardians Charters. Tim Gunn said he had no control over his people and their plots during the initey saga. So I think this is just them messing with the other stories without realizing it.

It is the action figure styled boba fett, and also jango wasn't going to be introduced for 20 years, so it is likely a prototype.

When I was a kid, pay phones had phone numbers, and you could have people call you on the pay phone. Maybe in the 80s, they started to block this because drug dealers and other criminals would use pay phones to conduct business.

Yes, incoming calls are blocked. That's the whole point. That's why it's a cool little detail because there's no way he could have received that phone call, therefore the whole thing was in his head. Seriously do you not know how Fight Club ended?

It's extremely common for 'classic' cars to have gauges which do not function optimally. Cable-driven speedometers are temperamental, and can actually be noisy.

Ockham's razor: there is no way that Brad Pitt would be allowed to drive a car (except maybe short shots at slow speed), especially without a seatbelt on. Therefore, it is common that these sorts of shots are performed on a trailer, hence the speedometer is zero.

If we are nitpicking over accuracy: it would have been easier for the passengers to all swim under the ship and hold it up to keep it from sinking than for a 3rd class passenger to constantly make his way to 1st class.
