Today we’d like for you to meet the artist Mahnaz Yazdani. Mahnaz’s deep and meaningful work often portrays society's problems in surrealistic illustrations that tend to show how everyday people (just like us) suffer from things that seemingly the rest of our modern society refuses to acknowledge more often than not.

One could say we probably have gotten used to the said problems just because we are always surrounded by them, so much that we don't even notice them anymore. However, things such as war, global pandemic, and problems revolving around our mental health aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

All in all, Yazdani’s work might give you a thought or two regarding the way we live currently.

I have a policy when I am with my kids: no devices OR everyone on devices. Also: weekends: allocated device time. During the week: devices only after kids are asleep.

This is only one moment in time, with an awful lot of judgement attached to it. In the '60s, women worked less but spent about 45 minutes less with their children, daily, than the average mother does today. The expectations society has of us are unrealistic. Not to mention that we have no idea what parents are using their phones for when you see them in this situation. Last time my child was trying to get my attention when I was using my phone in public, I was being informed by our vet that our dog has terminal cancer and that treatment would cost around $40,000. I couldn't just hang up in the middle of the conversation and ask them to call back at my convenience, particularly given that I also had to pay the vet to call me. I am an excellent mother, but I'm sure anyone who was observing out of earshot would not have thought so.

I'm so sorry you had to receive that call from your vet. It's the kind of news none of us are ever prepared to hear. Cancer is an awful, horrible, terrible beast of a thing. I don't know when this happened or what came of it, but I hope you're hanging in there. 💜

It is usually the kid on the tablet and the parents trying to get them to do literally anything else.

Bored Panda also reached out to the artist to find out a little bit more about her and her work.

"I am a storyteller who tells most of her stories in her comics and animations. I started my art journey as an animator and cartoonist twenty years ago. My focus was on making animation for years. Since 2015, I have been professionally drawing editorial cartoons. I had so many stories in my mind waiting to be created, but animating all of them needed lots of years, so I chose comic style to tell my stories faster."

"Maybe the main characteristic of mine has led me to create such art: a humoristic outlook and thinking about the feelings of other people, for example, how does a kid feel under bombardment. Those help me to create a humorous story and then tell it in the shape of a comic, cartoon, or animation."

Precarious, but I see it another way too. (Isn't art great?). (Often and as depicted here) the man's work is in one place. The woman needs to be on the move as she has just as much work at home and with the kids and in society. Her desk needs to have wheel(s)! (Yes, I'm sure it's not always the case. I'm not looking for an argument just sharing an opinion about the picture.).

De fact that people still don't know what is going on is a bit disturbing. Because it's a really big problem. Many people who see it simply don't care. It's going about the fact that a workplace for man is way more stable than a workplace for women. It's called sexism. Many people (including woman's) don't get it. It also can be unstable for man but it is something that is more common with woman's. Weird creepy comments and sometimes someone is going to far(this happens way more than people might wanna believe)

I'm not sure I agree with this as of where we are now. It's not perfect but I wouldn't say this is normal in society. So I think this is offensive to both sexes and offensive to average work space. I've seen plenty of companies where the environment is either equal or better for the female employees

Yuuuuuup. I have seen this so many times in my own workplace, and I'm sick of it. The bar for men is so low, yet they often expect praise for doing the absolute bare minimum. Then they come home and expect their wives to cook their dinner, clean up, feed the kids and get them ready for bed, and maintain everyone's schedules/set up appointments for him on top of all that. Even though they both work full time. Heck, even if she works more than he does! We call a career-focused woman "neglectful", yet call a career-focused man "ambitious".

I personally see it as how women are expected to balance out work and home life. It's not easy. Many of the women in my family are forced to balance both while being the sole breadwinner ( we are American ) that's not to say that men never face harassment, but it's hella frequent for women.

That's what happens when you build an entire culture hyper focused on generating only "likes" instead of realistic feedback. They post tripe for an endorphin hit and non-stop validation, and are absolutely destroyed when somebody, anybody has the gall to not fall down and worship their idiotic childish ramblings.

Social media and sites (media in general) was created through the constant, forever changing, impossible, societal standards placed upon three generations and counting going digitally social inducing the addiction to instant gratification and attention. Unfortunately it has become impossible for a single person to stay high on the amount of instant gratification and attention they recieve that they crave more and in turn do more, to where they are so out of character and become a shell of their former selves. Causing emptiness and feelings of worthlessness. This culture in itself is very harmful to anyone's mental health in one way or another. Honestly the best way to beat it, is to give little to no participation. After all when has Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc ever given any of their users a participation trophy for using their site? Also earning likes is not as rewarding when you had to become superficial and act so out of character for them.

To me reminds me of Reddit when you are trying to ask for help/advice on something and ppl downvotes you but yet won't tell you the reason why they did that. OR Since that is a Doctor at the desk, I guess she disproves of something about the child(most likely too much time on line since little kid has phone in her dress pocket). BUT ppl doesn't realize it's not ONLY when kids are at home or in the car BUT AT SCHOOL also! My 13yr old has no text books just Chromebooks doing classwork from them. Gee 8hrs a day on Chromebook doing classwork that's already over the recommended screen time from Dr's.... When they get home from school they will get on the Chromebook to do homework... Welp there's another hr of screentime.... Then once your kid gets on their phone for random surfing, face time, social sites. Oops Johnny, you went over the recommend screen time. Nope sorry. Pediatrics needs to realize 8yrs of screentime is during SCHOOL HOURS instead of text books......

Ask you provider for "Internet Essentials" it's only $9.95 a month and they provide the highest available speed to you. this is strictly for internet access, not TV. They will give you options for how you might qualify: food stamps, social security income, "Elderly and Disabled", Section 8 housing. If you are receiving any of these they will begin your service and ask you to send copies of documents which you can do at a store where you will be given the latest and best equipment which they provide free of charge. Whenever there is new equipment you can take in the old for a switch out. Plus they provide installation. No charge.

Good luck getting disability if you have autism or ADD or any mental illness aside from severe schizophrenia and after they beat you down with antipsychotics, also good luck getting it if your transgender, basically if your not crippled or criminally insane your not getting disability. And trust me autism is every bit as crippling as a physical illness, Also good luck getting any benefits at all even food stamps I have autism, ADD and brain damage from certain things I won't get into and I cannot get food stamps or disability. I had to shoplift to feed myself and now have a criminal record I also cannot afford a lawyer and I have wealthy family members (millionaire) who refused to help me, let's my life fall apart and let me to in a jail cell. It's not even a financial reason for folks in my community who don't have internet. The internet providers can not provide them internet because of where they live. My inlaws live less than a half mile from me and don't have access to internet by any internet provider. It's not always because of money. I live in Michigan.

Not all children are born into enough money to learn. Sometimes just enough to survive. This egen chases you into adulthood and teens as you look for collage. Taking into consideration asking yourself. "What can i afford?" Because even scholarships cant save you. And loans are insane

The burqa does not necessarily represent this . For many women it's their religion.Women chose to wear this. Ironically this is what gives them wings No person can force a woman to wear this. If they force a woman then they are NOT Muslim or Islamic at all . It's written in the Qur'an that u cannot force a woman to do anything against their will. For many woman wear this because they feel safe and free in the burqa and hijab. So don't go on illustrating false news. Please stop this.

tell that to women forced into it by religious extremists. i wholly support women wearing it by choice. and i support women NOT wearing it. but your assertion that no one can force a woman to wear it is wrong. no one SHOULD but they do.

I think this is more about how viruses are forever changing and will always be around and have tons of variations. Covid won't be eradicated like polio cuz its a viral vs bacterial thing. And you can be fully vaccinated and still get covid so ppl get the Vax and think they are free and get it again and spread it to other all the while acting like they saved everyone. It will keep transforming. In the US the last pandemic with The Spanish flu, it didn't go away it transformed into the many strains of flu we have today. A virus will not be fully eliminated by a Vax like a bacterial disease will. Just science. We'll be getting covid vaxxed the rest of our lives for all of the variations until its just like getting the annual flu Vax that covers a certain amount of them and just hoping you don't get it but still might but it's a less extem case of it etc. I'm sure I'll get a ton of down votes cuz people don't like hearing this. Sorry the truth hurts.

Illinois just drop their mask mandate and vaccine mandate. The terms are a bit contradicting. Out of 12.5 million in the population, 8 million are fully vaccinated 63.3% . We can obviously hope for better numbers but it's a good start. Though you still have to wear a mask and social distance in schools, daycares, hospitals, clinics, business facilities, state gov facilities such as the DMV, courthouses, public transportation, some restaurants and some stores. Some as in the owner gets to decide the requirements. We'll see how this goes. Yes, I'm pro vax. Don't down vote me too much.

Yasmín G. Serrano 4 minutes ago There’s a reason why they’re illegal. You think it’s because they want to be? They have no money to apply for permanent residence and they’re desperate for their lives so they have no choice. Governments ask for outrageous amounts of money for immigration and are very selective in who they bring and who they refuse. Of course I am not excusing it or saying it’s right, I am merely stating the reason why it happens. If you don’t believe me then it’s because you weren’t born in one of those countries so you can’t see the real reason

There will always be people with money and power so to make it fair, for every rich and powerful they let skate past they should give two unprivileged the same treatment. If the rich want to throw money to open a door then charge them enough that it opens the door for two more people too. It's the only way to make it fair because the rich aren't going to stop using their money to get what they want. So this guy paid for him and his 3 family members, so 8 people at the fence should get that same treatment. That's what we should be fighting for.

Marjorie Keenan Rawlings wrote a story called "the Living Hand" She was the author of "The Yearling" that was required reading on into the 2000s in schools. It describes a black man, unable to connect with any in his world, because he just looks like such a criminal and scary man. ( Warning: if you read it it was written in the 1920s when Jim Crow was in full swing, so the n word is prevalent) but he can only fully realize himself through the Love and care of the plants in his garden, being described "as the good father" as he cradles the plants in his huge hands. That is how I feel, they give me the living, not me them.

Google translation of her post on Instagram: For my mother and aunts ... My mother and aunts spent many years of their lives behind the carpet, from childhood to the years they experienced motherhood. The weavers built a ladder to bring themselves and their families to what they are now and will be. I'm proud of having such strong women in my life. Women who, believing in better tomorrows, bought the hardest and continue to buy ... Your hard-working hands are the most beautiful hands ....

This is a good illustration of what family separation without communication and respect can do to a child/family. It doesn't always have to be this way though. I've worked with many families who seperate, because they don't want their child witnessing an unhappy relationship and repeating the cycle, and they keep communication and respect and find ways to coparent. Family counseling is a really positive way to help the transition.

I was a child of divorce and I didn't feel this way. I appreciated the two different perspectives on life I got growing up. I never felt like my identity was tied to either parent, so I never felt like I was being "torn" or tossed between the two (though custody did change hands a few times). I get why some people might have negative sentiment towards their experience as adults, but mine was very positive. I saw good and bad traits in the lifestyles of both parents, and I cherry picked what I liked to build my own life. I'm so glad my parents got divorced. It was the best thing for all of us.

A lot of people are saying to not waste water, which is good advice, but I think the point of the illustration is that most of us are lucky things are convenient for us. A clean apartment, a flat screen TV and all the water we want with the turn of a faucet handle, instead of getting in line for as much water we can only carry. For some people in the world, this is their only option. Tap water, and other luxuries, is a convenience that most of us in this comment section forget. So, saving water can help make you feel better, but realizing to appreciate the things we have is another.

In "the oc",where I grew up, there are "pay to stay jails",which are in astounding contrast to the regular jail that is overrun with corruption and total lack of adherence to laws set up for prisoners. The pay jail has a t.v., microwave, small fridge., nice toilet facilities, free comfy slippers and this is per cell...not community tv, microwave, etc.- oh and you get to GO HOME AT NIGHT!!! So many want "the oc lifestyle", many of us who grew up there see the MASSIVE HYPOCRISY and leave as soon as we're able

Bystanders are the worse. Just like when someone is choking, having a heart attack, gets hit by a car, are being bullied or sexually assualted/ harrassed there's people standing there with their phones out recording it instead of calling the police and moving out of the way. A test study was done that proved that the more people there are standing around a scene the less likely the person in crisis is going to get help because everyone in the crowd is waiting for someone else in the crowd to make the first move that doesn't involve recording the scene with their phones. See something, hear something? Then say something do something. That will help. Start by getting out of the way and being the person who doesn't use their phone to record the scene to post on social media.

Many times you will see things and can't do anything to stop it, either your life will be at risk or the person does something stupid and won't listen to your voice of reason... In this case the guy has no power over the situation and the kid probably didn't listen when he was told it was dangerous, so the man os stepping back and getting prepared...he makes coffins, it's dark but he could be a dr and still have to wait for the inevitable to happen and then do his job. I don't think this one is talking about something positive any more than the rest of them are. Parents encourage their children too much, and convince them that they can be or do anything, when that's not always true. Young people enter the world with no plan thinking they can conquer any obstacle by willpower alone, and are surprised when they fail Maybe that's cynical, but it's what I've noticed.

Literally happened to a friend. Her house was older and NOT in a flood zone. Developer put in condos that caused her property to periodically flood when it rained. It was loveable until hurricane Irma came through and her house got 4 ft of water in it. No flood insurance (because again, NOT IN A FLOOD ZONE), but homeowner's insurance refused to pay because it was a flood event. Turns out the permits for the condos were illegally issued because it was pretty clear what works happen to the properties on the downward slope of the ground they built up to build the condos, bus sure couldn't find an attorney to take the case to sue the county and the contractor for the damage.

I can actually relate to this. The other night I even broke down and cried to my mother that I wasn't comfortable sleeping on the couch. We live with our g-ma in a 2 bedroom house with 1 full bathroom and 1 half bathroom. There is 6 of us + a dog. I sleep on the couch and it gets uncomfortable. I don't get proper sleep and I have to go to school really early but I have to stay awake late because I have to wait for the pup to go to sleep and I wait till everyone is asleep. It's really hard to get a house because we don't have enough money and because there isn't really any job for my parents to have if we move.

Rethuglicans brainwash the ignorant into equating Democrats with Communists, then screw those who vote for them by refusing to raise the minimum wage, removing reasonable environmental protections, subsidizing Big Business with corporate welfare, giving the richest people huge tax breaks, etc.

Aaarrrggghhh! Really dark. We do not treasure our children the way they deserve to be treasured. Broken abused children grow up to be broken adults who often are abusive and/or victimize the next generation. The social and human costs of this destructive cycle are devastating. We need to do a better job of prioritizing intervention, protection and support for both abusers and victims of domestic abuse. My heart hurts.

Now that I think about it, I have never, in my life, seen my phone in my dreams.

How close to 18 are you? Is there a relative you can go to who can help you? In the meantime, wear your mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing. I wish you the best of luck.

The reason so many people refuse the vaccine is because of the adverse reactions, the lack of study (COVID has only been around for 2 years and within a year, there's a miraculous cure when other diseases have been studied for decades and there's no cure?), the suspicious behaviour of the Government (bribing doctors, healthcare workers, disability coordinators and their staff, people that speak out against COVID-19 or the shot and mysteriously die or disappear), the fact that it goes against the Nuremberg Code of 1947 (Especially the first rule about non-coerced, unmanipulated and full knowledgeable consent) and the segregation between the vaccinated and unvaccinated. Unvaccinated people are being treated the same as the Jews were during WW2: Not allowed in clubs, restaurants or cafes, deprived of jobs, can't visit loved ones in hospital, having to do illegal things just to get treated like a human being, etc.

When I die, I would like for my friends to get together for a memorial service and talk about their best memories of me. And get drunk. No need for a fancy, solemn service.

Comment on cost of a funeral? Or...I read somewhere that some unethical morticians will remove valuables between service and burial. Also that sometimes even dental gold is removed from corpses when preparing body for burial by enethical practitioners. I am going to have mine removed and made into rememberences for my kids when I am ready to take the next step. Wink!

What all our children should be given as opposed to what some religious fanatic terrorist wants for them.. I really hate it when children are used this way. It is abhorrent to me.
