My grandma ordered nothing for dessert during our stay in Disneyland Europe and she got a plate with just her name and some sprinkles... Our kids got a kids dessert with their names on top and one of them has severe allergies so he had a banana on a plate with his name and sprinkles... Disney Cast members are the best!

Ok my bayd now I feel stupid, I didn't know what Affogato was and now I understand that there is absolutely no avocado in that :)) So it's basically ice cream with espresso poured on it... Of course if she mentioned affogato and he didn't know what it was, then she said to put an scoof of ice cream on top (on top of what, then ?) it was surely confusing :p

Well, onion rings are not exactly popular in Kenya... Sometimes you have to keep in mind that what you eat at home is not necessarily common in another country. Ugali is typical in Kenya, I'm pretty sure it would be messy to order it in a restaurant in US :D

I used to have this problem overtime I would get take out for my grandson. I would order a cheeseburger plain and they always asked "Do you want cheese on that?" I got tired of it one day and said "If I didn't want cheese on it, I would have ordered a burger plain!" Now I just say "I want a cheeseburger plain, with meat, cheese and bread only!"

there is nothing wrong with that. You asked for an ice cream sandwich and this is ice cream sandwich in local term. I wished people would look at the food item as they are rather trying to compare the food to something else they are not supposed to be. Wendy's has diced onions and cheese as condimates next to their chili, so her asking for extra onions would imply the diced ones that are clearly there. So it has nothing to do with the "pre-made" aspect you're trying to sell to the rest of us. Also, they make their chili in store, yes.. they don't grow the bloody beans and tomatoes to make it, but they do make it fresh... and I've seen them literally do it while waiting for new chili. Try again with that made up c**p.

One has to remember that at places like Tim's, they use a big belt toaster. Bagel goes in and then runs thought for a set amount of time. While they can usually adjust the speed of belt, they are not going to adjust it for one Customer and likely under-toast other customers bagels going through same time. So Extra-Toasted means that they run it through twice. I'd expect it to look like this.

You need to order a plain sundae if you want plain ice cream in a cup since the cups have more ice cream, so they cost more. If not, this is what you will get. I would know. I have worked at McDonalds for 5 years or so.

Actually, if you get just ice cream in a cup without a cone, they have to charge you for the price of a sundae. If they flip the cone into a cup they only charge you for a cone. Cheaper this way. Just toss the cone...

Well, sort of. It's normally done by wetting the rim of the glass and then rubbing it into coarse salt. Can't really do that when there's liquid in the glass, and regular table salt isn't really what you want either.

From personal experience, people from the USA usually order things they assume is common in the rest of the world like the chicken waffles and chilli fries etc. Hence our confusion. Especially if you visit Europe they will most likely not humour your request and serve you what they think would work. If it is not on the menu, do not ask someone to whip it up for you.

That's what I was thinking throughout this whole thing. I've NEVER been to an Italian restaurant and said, "Hey, can I get an order of beef teriyaki?" It doesn't matter if it's something you assume is a "common" thing or not, why would you go to a restaurant and order something they don't have on the menu!?

I've traveled all over the world and eaten wonderful things. Usually places with tourist dollars coming in put a description of what their food actually contains. Try their food, why travel if not to have experiences?
