A new food trend is rocking Instagram right now and we just can't stop looking at it! Say hello to mermaid toast.
Started by a food stylist named Adeline Waugh, the trend is seriously going to brighten up your mornings. Who doesn't like good looking food after all? "My goal is to take healthy food and make it fun and exciting, brightening it up with a few (or many) pops of color,” Waugh told Vogue. All she does is mixes cream cheese with spirulina powder for blue and chlorophyll drops for green - and voila! A delicious and good-looking breakfast. You can also make different colored toast by using beet juice for pink, turmeric root for yellow and orange or freeze-dried blueberry powder for purple. You can find the mermaid toast recipe on Adeline Waugh's blog.

It all comes out brown at the end of the day, but ... to each their own :)
Please, the internet doesn't "love" this, it's just one more ridiculous thing in a long, long line of serial crushes.
Cream cheese isnt a "healthy food". I am more annoyed that she is trying to pass this off as that than if she had just said "i wanted to make pretty food for my kids". ps i do think it looks pretty, and i dont know how to feel about that!
Someone made a good comment about this being similar to decorating Easter eggs....and whether it's that or 'just toast' or paintings it's art and making someone happy - even if that someone is the person creating it. Maybe it's really time consuming, but leaving negative comments is time consuming too..... it amazes me how many people take the time to write something negative instead of just clicking next and moving on!
Of course Instagram would be in love, lets just wait till Pinterest discovers in too.
I think we should cherish out natural instincts to not eat things that look like spilt paint or plastic toys. Normal food is pretty enough for me.
Toast... I'm just gonna let that sink in... of all foods... they chose toast. 😒
Wth I legit thought it was geodes until I saw the title and was like wait... what?!
The taste of cheese won't change, nomatter if you dye it green, blue, pink or black.
We have a natural aversion to eating certain colours for a very good reason, why try and break that in children?
Decades of exposure to artificially colored industrial foods makes me react to this with aversion, even though I read the text and saw that it's using natural colorings. It seems completely pointless, too. Trends and fads... Some of the most annoying human behaviors (admittedly less annoying than lies, arrogance, xenophobia, murder...).
This is by a professional food artist (yes i did my research)
like smeared rock, remember me moment from tom and jerry, when tom ate sandwich with seashell :-) Missarable that we can't here posting any pictures........
Not sure who would need such a toast... I think I'm fine with my ordinary sandwich
