In the age of filters and Photoshop, I was surprised to see someone achieving drastic transformations of appearance using just the power of makeup. Meet Charlotte Roberts, an 18-year-old who refutes the idea that makeup is meant to only subtly highlight someone’s features. For this girl, makeup art is an opportunity to transform into any pop culture character, monster, or simply a dramatic version of herself.

The characters Charlotte has turned herself into include Voldemort and Bellatrix from the Harry Potter series, girls from Monster High as well as celebrities like Lady Gaga and David Bowie. What unites all of these transformations is the fact that you can clearly tell Charlotte gravitates towards a rather spooky, moody aesthetic.
